Try dinner here for the first time. We wanted barbecue, so we went with the barbecue platter. Great assortment of pulled pork spare ribs and brisket. We added mac and cheese, onion rings, and the coleslaw. We enjoyed the spare ribs.Everything was great.Service was outstanding will be back.

Heard about the burgers from a friend and decided to stop by for a byte. We were not disappointed!! The fried pickles were very tasty as well as the burgers. If you are in the area you really should stop by and have some waffle fries with your burger.

Google
the service was slow. like.... the checking were few. I waited almost 20mts just for napkins the food and drinks are fantastic. the wait was a little but not crazy bad consider we came after spring game. in a way you want to be lenient because the busy is cuz of the game but also if you run a bar in college town. GameDay are all going to be busy. you should just be prepared for it. there are like 10 other bars. edit: there was what seemed a random "GameDay gratuity 20%" added on the bull that isn't noted on thr menu or ANYWHERE IN THERE. we had to wait excessive time for thr bill, boxes ,napkins. businesses get busy. but thr attitudes were pretty flippant. when my brother in law wanted to talk to thr manager about it; she cut him off and Karen'd him. people are paying good money here. there wasn't any reason to wait on ppl sat next to us who were seated 20 mts after us served and out before us. there was more of them

I had come here for a surprise birthday party for my grandpa, and the food was amazing! The All American Angus Burger was perfectly cooker with the crisp bun on top was spectacular! The fries were a perfect golden and the pretzel bites, let me tell ya, they’re to die for! The cheese sauce you get with em is perfect and I could eat them anytime!!! 10/10 :)

Came into the Little Brown Jug this afternoon, and let me tell you, this was an exceptional choice. I walked in, and it was calm, and I was immediately greeted by the lovely staff (these ladies were total babes). I sat down and was waited on by a very lovely young woman named Sarah. She was very attentive, friendly, and made great suggestions, as I wasn't too sure what to order. My food came out pretty quickly, was so delicious, and the portion size was incredible. Definitely worth my money. Here’s where they truly showed how exceptional they are. While I was eating, the place quickly filled, and it was packed. There was a festival or something going on nearby, and a big reservation came in, but these lovely ladies didn’t miss a beat. Sarah and the two ladies she worked the dining room with gave a masterclass on how to handle sudden chaos. They kept their friendly demeanors and stayed on top of everything. The way they worked off each other was poetry in motion. Big round of applause for those gorgeous ladies. The food was incredible. The portions were bountiful. The staff was second to none—the stars of the show. I will be back, and I will recommend to everyone I know to make the trip out to Maybee and visit “The Friendliest Place in Town.”

I had the fish sandwich and my husband had one of their burgers.. AMAZING 🤩! Thanks to the chef!! Our waitress was so nice! Very much appreciated! We recommend and will return!

Google
Good atmosphere, but the food was mediocre. The salad and onion rings were good, but the "alfredo" dish was not really alfredo tasted more like white cheddar mac and cheese. It didn't even have fettuccine noodles and instead used Cavatappi pasta.

Yelp
We went back to Little Brown Jug to grab some dinner, it's been years! Located in downtown Maybee, it's the staple restaurant in the area. There is a bar side, a dining side, and outdoor seating. The place was packed - it's was Mexican Night. It didn't take long for our table to be ready. We grabbed a couple ciders from the bar while we waited. He ordered up some spicy fried cheese curds. They tasted great, a bit overcooked- as some were empty little breadcrumb shells. We both chose the burgers. I got the 1/3lb All American Angus Burger. I couldn't believe how big it was! I kept comparing mine to his, he ordered the half pound burger! He also had to try the yummy Mac n cheese- tastes just like mom's! We were both satisfied with the quality of the meat, ground fresh for them specifically from Danny's Fine Foods in Monroe- the best butcher in the area. Our server was awesome. Down to earth & on top of it! We will definitely be back! It's only 8 mins from our new house.

Yelp
Food was great, except for the poutine, which was just okay. Brisket was juicy and flavorful.

Yelp
I actually chose this place after seeing an ad/posting on Facebook. Located in Maybee, Michigan, it is about a 45-minute drive for me. It was my birthday, and as one of my favorite Michigan dinners is Lake Perch, I decided that was going to be my birthday meal! The storefront entry is very unassuming, yet I felt welcome and friendly once inside. The bartender was sure to say hello across the room with a "Go ahead and sit anywhere you like!" Maybee is a very small town--a farming community--and the small-town feel is right there on the surface of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly, efficient, and helpful when it came to some questions from my wife about food allergies. I enjoyed the Perch and my wife enjoyed it here as well. I am sure that we will find our way back here someday.

Yelp
Cold beer, great food, and remarkable service from the bartender! It was so wonderful we left and then came back with friends that same evening! The 3 large size rooms of the restaurant/bar were very clean and cozy! Family friendly and yet perfect for an evening out with friends. The menu looks super delicious. My wife had the fiesta smothered chicken and I snacked on some tater tot kegs while I enjoyed a couple High Life's. Enjoy!

Yelp
Food is really good, service is great, just a really cool place in a really small town in southern Michigan.

Yelp
Had tacos here. $2 each on Wednesdays. Excellent. Good cold draft beers. Beautiful place. Very clean inside. Our waitress, Jean, has been working here for 40 years. What a sweetheart!

Yelp
For a long time, I have heard about the exceptional prime rib at the Brown Jug. Since, I was in the area, today was the day. The Brown Jug is a restaurant/Bar with a very casual atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly. I ordered the prime rib medium rare+. I respect them for not rolling their eyes. I just want a steak between medium rare and medium. Other places have belittled me for my order. I also ordered the baby back ribs. The story behind them is the crew at the restaurant has won awards for their bbq. My third order was Mac and Cheese. Each entree came with various sides. The entrees are very generous in portion size. You will not leave this place hungry. The food review - The prime rib was cooked as requested. Very tender. I thought that it would have a better char on it. The taste was decent. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I assumed that they would be smoked. My bad for not asking. I wish they offered a choice of bbq sauces. The sauce they put on the ribs was average at best. The Homemade Mac and Cheese was good it just needed more cheese. Would I go back to this restaurant, probably not. If I was in the area visiting friends and we ended up at this restaurant, I would be good with it.

Yelp
Fish and chips are on point. Beer is cold and people are warm and friendly. Very clean too. If you ever find yourself with 20 miles of this place defiantly get a meal here.

Yelp
Had a great first time visit and a second visit planing for a third real soon food is great

Yelp
Ordered a drink to start the evening off. I've been drinking Manhattans for over 50 years. This was the worst one I've ever had. The glass was only half full and it didn't taste like there was much whiskey in it. The salad was good but the rest of the dinner left a lot to be desired. It was pricey and skimpy. The baked potato was hard and cold. I usually don't completely finish my dinners and end up taking home leftovers. Not the case here. I left their hungry. Also, no bread was served.
google avatar

Zac H.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner and had some great food! We had the chicken which was a huge portion and nicely cooked! The veggies were okay, but the mashed potatoes were amazing! Definitely the best mashed potatoes I've ever had at a restaurant, amazing gravy on top, and again the portion was really nice! The dining room was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning on future trips : )

Yelp
Great food, cool atmosphere. Owner supports the community. Best bar in town! I highly recommend checking this place out

Yelp
Everyone we've talked to said, LBJ was a great location with awesome food..... Well it's $80.00 dollars will NEVER get back (1) Drinks. Gin/tonic good, vodka/cranberry HORRIBLE! Cranberry had no taste, and no vodka! (2) Appetizers- onions rings and fried pickles, good. Hard to screw up. (3) salad OK, self made at their little salad bar. (4) MEALS..... HORRIBLE!!! We had Sirloin Steak and Shrimp and Fiesta smothered Chicken. No seasoning or flavor on the steak or shrimp and both were tough. the broccoli also had NO flavor. The baked potato was good (that's it). The Fiesta smothered Chicken (smothered meant, with cheese and NO SAUCE) ....AGAIN no flavor or seasoning on the chicken and very tough. the Broccoli also had NO flavor. *only good thing was the peppers/onions and canned mushrooms * Best thing about the dinner, was the nice drive out there. Soooo bummed out.

Yelp
Oh never disappointed here. Food is sooo good. Always worth the trip. So many great things to choose from.

Yelp
Good stuff! Battered walleye with fries and green beans and a fresh salad. All was very good. The fish was the best with a little tarter sauce on the side. Sign up for the loyalty they give ya a free appetizer!
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Service was great and with a good sense of humor. They were serving a crowd of bakers that's filled the hole third room (All following the Covid rules) however never affected the service or timing of the food delivery. The bathrooms were spotless especially considering the crowd you would think different. Definitely coming back when we get in this part of town.
google avatar

Marilyn G.

Yelp
Great Hole in the wall! The place is very welcoming and old town vibe. Food portions are BIG just FYSA.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
I like the atmosphere and would give that a 4-star rating and like the small hometown feeling. The drinks are fine and reasonable and so are the appetizers but as far as the main course I will have to give it a 2-star rating ordered my burger medium well and it was crispy and take awhile to be brought out guess because they were really cooking it super well done. thus making my review 3 stars. I would go back for drinks and appetizers but that would be it.

Yelp
We received a coupon in the mail. Lost it. Went anyway. We live in the area but never went till now. It will be on our regular list now. We went around 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. Just a free people there. Server was very pleasant and attentive. My wife and I had an appetizer of some sort of fancy loaded tater tots. Better than it sounds. My wife had a chicken sandwich with waffle fries. Quite good. I had the walleye basket. Very good but maybe a bit small. Came with one of those half an ear of corn on the cob. Not great but I ate it. I was a bit disappointed the salad bar was empty. Overall good place. We'll be back.

Yelp
This place is now under new ownership. A former employee bought it and while under old owners the food and service were very good, I feel it is still above average under the new ownership. A few minor bumps in the road, but workable. Our food and service were delicious and friendly. They were very very busy Saturday evening, yet all the employees seemed to hustle to keep up. One table ordered 20 hamburgers which really put a strain on the kitchen staff, but they persevered. My Prime Burger was excellent and my wife's "Chicken Coop" was yummy. Curley fries were nice and the Loaded Homemade Chips with Bacon, BBQ, and Ranch were awesome as well. The effort exerted by ALL employees during this mad rush of diners was commendable. The extra few miles off the beaten path to this place... is worth it to us.

Yelp
We came to enjoy a nice meal. Pulled pork was chunks with fat, ribs were baby more fat...meat was substandard. For $25. I expected better. With almost nothing eaten, rude waitress repeated, " you should have told me". I DID tell her.

Wardog T.

Yelp
Stopped in the other afternoon for dinner...decided to get the seafood platter...came with fries...nothing else. Platter consisted of two cod fillets...clams and shrimp. Fries were normal fries which is a good thing. Everything tasted fine...but when I see a seafood platter on a menu that has shrimp...I expect to see...shrimp lol...these things were so small I had a hard time wondering what was shrimp and what was clams lol. Nothing was said on the menu that the shrimp were thumbsized smh. I should have known something was up by the price...11.99 I believe it was but still had to check it out...I love seafood. The server was fine and so was the owner. Nice place. Will surely go back...just won't be getting shrimp before I ask the size of them before lol.

Yelp
My Favorite Neighborhood Restaurant!! Great Owner, service is always awesome. Cold Beer and Burgers I love. Perfect comfort.

Yelp
Great staff, very clean but the food was very sub par. I had the perch which was very fish and the size of gold fish. I'm a small eater and can only eat max is a cup and a half and I could have eaten 3 plates of what they served. My girlfriend ordered the cod and it was vandecamps out of the box and I'm not joking. Way way over priced for the scrap they served. The only reason I gave the 2 stars was because of the wait staff.

Nancy W.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Little Brown Jug for years! The food is always wonderful and the staff are so sweet! The owner, Jeth Ott is so friendly and walks around talking to his customers!! It's a great place to eat!
google avatar

Yelp
If u are looking for a trendy restaurant with haute' cuisine, do NOT go here. This local favorite is tucked away inside a rustic building in a little village, but gets 5 stars because of its; Awesome wait staff - friendly and helpful. Great breakfasts (pancakes and french toast). Great dinners (steaks, seafood). Great beer (is it Saturday night yet?). All this for very reasonable prices too. If there could only be 1 restaurant in the world, it should be The Jug.
google avatar

Tammy T.

Yelp
Good food, good prices. Try anything on the menu, its all delicious. The burgers are the bomb tho.
google avatar

Jared W.

Yelp
Food was as good as a frozen dinner. Regular patrons seem to run the bar and new comers don't get the same treatment.
google avatar

Robin R.

Yelp
Food and beer selection was awesome...I will definatley come back...very friendly staff!

Yelp
Was looking for a nearby restaurant to celebrate my birthday with family; had never been there but was very pleasantly surprised! Great menu at reasonable prices. Food was excellent and staff was very friendly and made our celebration very special. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Ordered a burrito and a couple Coronas last week; excellent food. Overall, nice local bar/restaurant to visit. I sat at the bar. Bartender was very unfriendly to me but not to the locals. Basically slammed my meal down and walked away. She made me feel like a second class citizen. Little did she realize that my net worth probably exceeded all the other patrons combined. She lost out on a $25 tip and got nothing for her attitude. Will not be returning.

Ann S.

Yelp
The food is decent, but not always worth the price. The main dishes are good, such as the smoked meats and fish (although I do wish the fish breading had a bit of a crunch and more flavor- it is very soft and pretty bland). The "vegetable" of the day has been corn the last two times I have been there. Corn is a grain, and if I'm paying $20 for a meal, I expect more than $.06 canned corn, perhaps something green or roasted or seasoned. The fries were way undercooked. The soups are okay. The salad bar is my favorite part. They only offer it from Friday-Sunday, but it does have quite a few options and good dressings. Their catch phrase is "the friendliest place in town," but to make good on that they need new people representing the restaurant. Some waitresses are nice, but others act like you are asking for a kidney if you ask for more water. To put it bluntly, the waitress that served me last time I was there was awful. She was completely clueless as to the menu (didn't tell us all of the available sides, didn't know the specials), she actually forgot about our table after we waited forever to order and eventually had to interrupt her taking a break to get our orders taken, she forgot to bring the extra silverware we needed, etc. She had an attitude with us as well. I had to ask a different waitress if they had rolls for the salad bar (because they usually do), and she offered to go check as she had just gotten to work. Apparently our waitress didn't bother to look, as she had just been sitting having a drink while the rolls were in the back. They also didn't have croutons out like usual. I assume someone was lazy or forgot, although I didn't ask for them. On top of that, the portions were way smaller than the last time I ordered the same meat dish, which was disappointing because it was expensive. Neither the owner Jeth nor the manager Heather were there, so maybe the cook and the wait staff just don't take any pride in their jobs without a boss on the premises. I would rethink my hiring process if that were my place. Long story short: 1. The food was good but not great. I think it's overpriced for what you get. 2. The service was awful.

Vera A.

Yelp
The food is DELICIOUS and the atmosphere is so comfortable and happy. The portions were more than enough and the taste of all of the food was fresh and vibrant! We had a few drinks and they were made perfectly by the bartender. Delicious! Our server was all smiles and the cooks in the kitchen were even smiling! This place is FANTASTIC! I will be making regular trips to The Jug and can't wait to swing by next Wednesday for more yummy dinner specials. A definite MUST TRY!

Billie l.

Yelp
Stopped for drinks. Very friendly people. The menu looked great and the place was very clean. We will go back for dinner soon
google avatar

Rachael H.

Yelp
Excellent food, fresh and hot. Great portions. It would have gotten more than 4 stars but we had to listen to the caterwauling in the bar. We came in at around 8pm.
google avatar

Saul M.

Yelp
What a great little gem in the middle of no where. This is a local bar restaurant in Maybee, MI. Where? I've never heard of it either. Everyone told me to try the ribs and they didn't disappoint. They were really good. Service was attentive and friendly--what else would you expect in small town mid-West America. Didn't get a drink but they seemed to have a nice beer selection. Moderately priced--I'd actually consider it a $$. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Thomas M.

Yelp
This is not your average small town bar. The food and service is excellent. Not too fancy but makes you feel welcome and comfortable the minute you arrive. Excellent management!
google avatar

George H.

Yelp
Five years ago I would have given the jug five stars. This is possibly a case of getting too big. Several years ago the bar expanded the dining area to almost double it's size. Since then the food has decreased in quality and consistency and prices have risen. The wait staff is friendly and the atmosphere is that of a homey hole in the wall, at least in the older section.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I heard great things about this place so we wanted to try it. BIG MISTAKE! The waitress came right over and got our drink order but never brought us menus and I had to go find some myself. We were a little disappointed by the variety of food that they serving but were still able to find something we would like or so we thought. I ordered a basket of chicken strips, my wife ordered a burger well done and my daughter had a bowl of Mac and cheese. When my chicken came out I was instantly disappointed it was 3 chicken fingers from what looked to be from the frozen section at meijer and a handful of fries. My wife's burger was far from well done and instead of making a new one they just put it back on the grill and the kids Mac and cheese is just a box of Mac and cheese with a handful of fries. When the waitress brought the plate back and with fries and no burger we realized they just put it back on the grill and weren't making a new one. So if they did that for us who else did they do that for today? Kinda gross in my opinion. The prices were high for actual quality of food they were making, we will not be back.
google avatar

Shawna F.

Yelp
Fantastic walleye! The cook here is great. It's a little bar that has a "cheers" feel. Its fresh food with a friendly atmosphere
google avatar

Pete P.

Yelp
Small town feel with a menu that's more like a chain or bigger city bar/restaurant. I had the fried chicken and it was very good. 1/2 a chicken, fries, and veggie for $14.99. Filling and tasty! Service was pleasant and friendly. A bit off the beaten path but that's where you can find some true gems, right?
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Best place for burgers around. Everything I've eaten here has been phenomenal. Good prices, fast service.

K M.

Yelp
Some may say it's the staff. Some say it's the food. Some say it's the owner. Some say it's the locals who are full of drama. Whatever the reason it's best to stay away if you want an enjoyable evening of good food and drinks. This is not the place to have them.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Went in here for a carry out lunch while at a baseball tournament. Got the appetizer sampler which my player loved and a fish sandwich for myself. All in all a good experience. Was ready when I got there the wait staff was friendly the food was tasty with a generous serving. Maybe a little pricey but in Maybee it's close to the only game in town for what I needed which was a fast carry out a kid would eat.

Halle P.

Yelp
Love this bar! Great food, wonderful drinks and a fun atmosphere! I played softball for this bar, its very easy to fall in love here. Pull tabs for days.

Tony R.

Yelp
My wife and me had the 2 for 25 which was great ,she had the steak and I had the ribs both were really good.I had the chocolate lava cake outstanding! Since new owner place has improved 100% . Recommend all my friends to go there.

Mr Z.

Yelp
Don't let the outside fool you, the food is really good. Service was friendly but needs improvement, like write down the order! Never got some of the order food, even after asking twice. Loved the BBQ ribs- fall off the bone good and the frogs legs were great too. Would of given 5 stars but the salad bar is pretty lame and the items there seemed like they were there all day. For a 1st time there over all very good time, we will be going back.

Becky D.

Yelp
Excellent place to eat! Was very glad we drove the extra miles to find it!
