Little Capo - Review - New Town - Edinburgh - The Infatuation

"Sometimes all you want is woozy lighting and a bowl of ox cheek ragù, and Little Capo knows that. The Italian restaurant on a steep corner in New Town is the persuasive type, all martinis and big bowls of rigatoni, and from the moment you walk in there’s a wave of happy chatter in squint-worthy lighting that tells you it's a very successful combination. There are plenty of close-knit banquette tables to share zucchine fritte across and the white-tiled bar is tailor-made for ones and twos. The pasta is comforting, if a little over, and the tiramisu similarly wholesome on the cream front. Still, the golden martini, complete with a side plate of pickles, is enough to win us over." - Jake Missing

Had heard good things about here, would say booking advised. A lovely wee place with chilled music. We sat at the bar a tight squeeze but not important. The staff give great service welcoming and knowledgeable we spoke with a guy from Sydney originally, explained options available and recommendations. The calamari was cooked perfectly light with a rich dressing on the side .do feel needed a bit more seasoning but still tasty. My favourite was the steak cooked perfectly seasoned really well with a rocket and parmigiano salad. We have greens and potatoes on the side. Always difficult to find a perfectly cooked steak in Edinburgh but here is finally we found it! Try a cheeky cocktail a great selection. gem of a place and can't wait to take family to try, lovee the italain twist which I know my italian family will like as not many in Edinburgh can do authentic tastes..

Went for lunch this afternoon and was honestly amazed. The service was absolutely incredible - I have never received service like it. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was pure vibes. We were also genuinely shocked at how inexpensive it was for how amazing it was. Most places would charge you through the nose. For reference: Starter - Olives & Focaccia to share Main - Steak x2 Side - Crispy Potato to share Dessert - Tiramisu and seasonal special Total - £74.25 with service charge (£66) without 10/10 - would recommend (p.s. make sure you get some tiramisu at the end - it’s unreal)

Went as a second dinner, so unfortunately didn't have the appetite to experiment more dishes. The burrata was to die for--most interesting explosion of flavors and textures in a single bite: a bit smoky, spicy and sweet from the burrata, date, and pistachios. The zucchini fries are usually straightforward, but especially enjoyed the distinct crunch. Also ordered a version of their old fashioned and espresso martini, which were the least exciting part of this culinary experience. The wait is extremely long (close to two hours on a weekday evening) if you make the mistake of walking in like we did. But it was worth the wait. The host helped to accommodate by bringing us our drinks outside, and he did his best to squeeze us in at the bar.

Gorgeous place for a date night or with a group of friends. I would say it's definitely more of an adult scene and wouldn't take my children. The ragu and tiramisu are the best I've ever had, the focaccia bread and olives are a perfect addition and I also enjoyed a margarita which was just the way I like it. It's booked out quickly as it's the trendy place to be, so make sure you book as soon as the slots open up.

This little place is adorable and definitely worth a visit . Food is excellent and all freshly made , with wines to go with each dish if desired. We opted for lunch at the bar which was very entertaining. Cocktails are very well thought out and staff are so helpful when choosing them 👏👏👏🥰

Such a lovely food and atmosphere. Especially the tiramisu is insane and the basil flavored oil as well. I was surprised again when i saw the total price. This is so reasonable for the entire experience at this place. 이 가격에 이 퀄리티? 서울에서도 불가능.

Had a lovely experience at Little Capo! The food was absolutely excellent—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Their drinks were just as impressive, especially the cocktails. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the selection of meat dishes was a little limited, but everything else more than made up for it.

Interior is lovely, although quite small and cramped, main walkway being narrow means people and staff constantly bumping into you, no space to move. The service was great, attentive and happy to answer any questions, they could probably have done with a couple more floor staff though. I’ve waited a while to dine here, being an Edinburgh resident we’ve all seen many people talk about this spot being 10/10 and a must visit however I felt it was underwhelming and a bit disappointing. The portions are pretty small, we got a mix of starters, mains and sides, some of them quite pricey for what they are. The raved about ragu arrived cold, pasta on the just-done side of al dente, we were hungry so didn’t mention the temperature. The Pea & Leek risotto was pretty horrible, just one gloopy homogenous cheesy paste, we thought it would have had plump peas throughout and tender leeks but guessing maybe they used them blended as the cooking stock? No vegetable flavour at all just very strong salty cheese. We had other dishes which were all very average. Finished with the Tiramisu, tasty but no real tiramisu flavour punch, tiny tiny portion for £6.50. All in all I more than likely wouldn’t return, I’m glad i’ve visited but left feeling underwhelmed and wouldn’t recommend it to friends and family.
