"Located in the Pearl District, Little Chkpea specializes in desserts that rely on the pulp of garbanzo beans for an ice cream base. Their offerings include perplexingly tasty desserts like olive-calamansi Oreo-style cookies. The dessert shop is entirely gluten-free, including its breads and cookies, and gained significant social media attention." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"Less than a year old, Little Chickpea changed its name today, along with the name of its scoop shop in the Pearl District, now Little Chkpea. In a press release, Camden took a positive stance. 'While we were less than pleased with the legal battle, we’re happy for the clarification that came through the necessity to change our name,' he writes. 'This challenge presented an enormous opportunity, forcing us to rethink our brand and what we’re offering to consumers. The ‘bean” in Little Bean was often confused for soybeans, commonly used in ice cream.' The clarification might help the ice creamery, which doesn’t use soy, gluten, dairy, or nuts in its products that range from ice cream to cookies and breads." - Alex Frane

This is the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever tasted! It’s as good as the real thing and doesn’t have that weird taste some other dairy-free ice creams have. All of their flavors look so delicious I wish I could have tried them all! The Cookies and cream and cinnamon granola were delicious as well as the chocolate and coffee. They also had so many gluten free baked goods and cones! Would definitely recommend this place!

Great alternative for gluten free or lactose intolerant people. Came here for a friend who wanted to try and was impressed! My favorite was the Orange Carmel, tasted really close to an Orange creamsicle. The waffle cones are a little thinner and crispier than a regular one, but had great taste. Slight aftertaste on a couple of ice creams, nothing overpowering or bad, just a little different. The chocolate chip and sea salt cookie had good flavor. A little chewier than a regular one, but still really good! Great place and great alternative to milk and gluten!

Surprisingly delicious chickpea “ice cream” - highly recommend the coffee flavor (blackberry basil was a bit much for me personally). Chickpea waffle cone was also good - noticeably crunchy and a bit thinner than a typical waffle cone. It was also available in chocolate. I’d consider coming back, but $6 was a bit steep for one scoop in a cone... Interesting and new to try out, though! Update: stopped by again for the chocolate... very good but still pricey!

Wow, the 'ice cream' is amazing, the waffle cone is even better. Ate mine so fast I only got a picture of my friends. Staff saw super friendly and they had a great looking pastry section. We also took home a delicious loaf of sesame bread.

Absolutely love their icecream! Their chickpea icecream is creamy and flavorful. Lots of unique flavors. My favorite is the chocolate and has a super great consistency similar to real ice cream. The cookies and cream wasn’t as good but still very tasteful. The chocolate chickpea waffle cone was nice and crunchy. Finally, the staff are super kind and nice! Offered many samples and gave great recommendations. Will definitely be coming back

Wow! Saying it was delicious is an understatement! I bought 4 pints because it was so good, and I wanted to have some for the rest of my vacation! I am from TN and would be thrilled if this was in stores near me!!! You guys have truly changed the dairy free industry with ice cream! With non-dairy options like this, I don’t miss real dairy! Thank you so much for such a delicious treat!!! I also really appreciated the chef who came and chatted with me about the ingredients. She was helpful and honestly interested in answering my questions. She went out of the way to look up ingredients and nutrition. She was very transparent about their process of making the ice cream!

Delicious! You can't even tell everything is made of chickpeas. The highlight for me personally was gluten free waffle cones. I haven't been able to eat a cone in over a year and so I was beyond excited to try it. It was delicious and paired well with my ice cream. The store itself looked homely and modern, a cute date spot for sure. Take your next tinder date here 😉

Wonderful non-dairy ice 'cream' made from chickpeas. I tried a split scoop of Szechuan Strawberry with Lemon Ginger - a little spicy and a little tart. So good! Their baked goods (I tried the Fennel & Fig cookie) were delicious and are gluten-free and vegan and are also made with chickpeas. The shop is in the Pearl and had a great vibe.
