Austin Restaurant Openings in November 2024 - Eater Austin

"This new restaurant — from the same family that had run Bep Saigon — serves up Chinese. Chinese American, Vietnamese, and pan-Asian dishes since it opened in mid-November. The menu is full of noodles, pho, vermicelli, fried rice, and much more. Its hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Delicious food and it's super close to me. I have the beef with garlic sauce and it was good. Not spicy though. Hot and sour soup was also good too. This place is to go only, no dine in. Got my food 10 mins or less

Google
Great portions and very fresh food. Very fair pricing and awesome service. Family owned and way better food than the franchised places. Perfect takeout option after a busy day!

Google
I ordered delivery and my order was prompt and accurate. The pork vermicelli bowl was one of the best I've had (the fried spring roll was alright). The portion size is just right. The hot and sour soup was very spicy and extremely flavorful, and unlike some places they actually fill the container all the way up. It will be my go to every time I'm sick for sure.

Google
This restaurant is very delightful and the menu offers lunch and dinner options. The service was fast and the staff was pleasant. There are lunchtime specials between 11 AM - 2:30 PM. The food was hot and satisfying! I would definitely recommend giving this location a try!

Google
Really good general tso’s chicken. A little bit of a kick - really tender and comes with freshly steamed broccoli. Plus, great service upon pickup. So glad this is close to home!

Google
If I were to judge honestly I wasn't extremely blown away by my order but everything tasted very good and as expected. Very good service upon pickup and would definetly return for fried rice and sweet n sour chicken!

Google
Food was ok..I ordered the hot and spicy chicken and it wasn’t spicy at all. Take out only but was able to order my food and get it within 10-15 mins.

Google
Great food! I had the curry fried rice noodle with beef. Soft noodles and the best beef I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. Tender and flavorful.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend recently moved to this area and this was his childhood favorite, so I was excited to try! We ordered two nights in a row and I am not ashamed to admit it LOL Everything was so delicious and I was extremely impressed. I am picky with Chinese food and was anxious to try this place as it is our neighborhood place. I am so glad this is the closest Chinese food to us now! I would've driven much more time to get this food. My boyfriend told me the owner was super kind and helpful- they even double checked if my spring rolls were cilantro free as requested right in front of him. They are sadly not open for dine in because they are understaffed, but I hope that can change for them one day as this place is truly fantastic! A Must Try!!

Yelp
I am very impressed by Little China! 1st off their lunch specials can not be beat! For $7 you can get a heaping portion of perfectly fried general tso chicken and rice with an egg roll. My food has always been prepared fresh and hot! Even to go, it's delicious. If you like Vietnamese egg rolls then this is the spot to go! They are flavorful, crispy, and the fish sauce is devine! I can eat 2 orders all on my own. Yum! Definitely a favorite of mine for Chinese!

Yelp
We have been here more than a few times as it is convenient. We live right down the road and we like to have a place like this so close to us. We have tried many dishes here and mostly have not been disappointed. Favorites are: Chicken and mushroom and Chicken vermicelli bowl. Both are worth the price and both are well seasoned and delicious. Lunch special: I got the Kung Pao Chicken. Lunch specials are usually smaller than the dinner portion so I expected the amount/quantity I received. The only complaint I have is that there could have been more chicken in it. The fried rice was perfectly cooked. The egg roll - meh. Combination Lo Mien: The portion is outrageous - lots for the buck! The protein delicious - just wish there was more of the protein. There is more to try and review which I plan to do. Love the location and the staff is friendly. Food is good. Keep on reviewing...

Yelp
The best Chinese food I've found in Austin! The dining room is still closed, but the takeout is phenomenal.

Christopher R.

Yelp
The food is good and the service is quick. Takeout only available. Just seems like a smaller portion relative to it being a dinner plate and the price point.
google avatar

Ikumi F.

Yelp
Reasonable price and good food. They have various food but sesame chicken is my favorite.
google avatar

Judith T.

Yelp
Food is great but I wish that they would open the dining room. It's hard to carry soup home when you are driving.
google avatar

Marcus L.

Yelp
Been going here since I was kid. Great ambiance... however keep in mind they are ONLY carry out now. Which is a shame because I loved having a delicious hot meal there. Sesame beef and chicken and my go-to, very flavorful.

Elisa G.

Yelp
Based on the high reviews, we went there from out of town, but no dine-in, and no Vietnamese offerings, which are reasons we chose it, since my daughter craved soup noodles. Still, we ordered dinner. Portions were small. Taste typical. Wonton soup had no real wontons(not stuffed with much). Disappointment for the price and what we needed, since we had no place to eat.

Yelp
Its disappointing that the restaurant is still not seating customers - they only offer take-out and delivery, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from getting Chinese lunch! I ordered the General Tso's Chicken with steamed rice. It should have been described as Steamed Rice with a small side of General Tso's chicken. There were 5 small pieces of chicken in a thin sweet and spicy "sauce", 2 scoops of rice, and broccoli. In fact, it had more broccoli than chicken. Included was an eggroll that tasted like it had been made well in advance and re-fried for my order. No soup. What little chicken I had was good, but I was still hungry after lunch. I remember this place being better in the past.

John W.

Yelp
Good Chinese food at a reasonable price. Their dinner specials offer many choices and they provide take out or delivery service. Been going here for years-John in N. Austin

Yelp
I spent this past weekend watching Chef Lucas Sin make delicious Chinese dishes. By the end of Friday, I was on the prowl for some good Chinese cuisine. Sunday, after running some errands, I pulled up in front of Little China, yelped them and went in to place an order. I was hungry so I ordered egg rolls (Chef Sin was making them in one of the shows), shrimp spring rolls, vegetable Lo-Mein, Chicken fried rice and Chicken broccoli in garlic sauce. Came home and had a little of this, a little of that. Everything was delicious and still have a lot left over for the next few days. I must say the egg rolls were winners, perfectly fried and crisp; also the spring rolls were fresh and delectable. Heading back there again soon. This will probably become my Chinese food spot.

Miana T.

Yelp
Takeout or delivery only. Must call beforehand. Definitely meant more for the locals around the area that know their order rather than new peeps. Dishes are nice. I like their seafood options and fried rice.
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Great authentic Chinese cuisine! The family owned spot is fast and friendly, highly recommended.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
You know I appreciate consistency and for sure Little China is consistent with how delicious their food is and for such a cheap price..I mean $6.95 for the lunch special which comes w/ your main entree, fried rice, egg roll, & soup!! Yep folks, eat some yummy in your tummy Chinese food for less than $7!!! Keep staying awesome Little China! -Rebecca out

Yelp
My favorite place to eat vermicelli bowl with Vietnam eggroll. I have tried this dish in other places and this place has always been my favorite for this dish. This is always my go to place when we visit from NC. The only negative remark is that they only gave carry out. You can't sit in the restaurant to eat your meal. I still give it a 5 star because the food is good.
google avatar

Tarra R.

Yelp
I love this local place. Sometimes I order lunch specials and forget it was a cheaper price so have to remember that for portion size. If you talk to them they will give you good recommendations on what to order. They have eggplant specials right now. I was not disappointed with their choice. A ton of vegetarian options, and just as many meat choices. They also deliver!!!! I've tried several dishes and haven't been upset about a single one. Sometimes with delivery, the salt and pepper shrimp can get a bit soggy with travel. I just pop it into a pan or under the toaster oven to crisp right back up.

Yelp
HONEST REVIEW: I just started working around the corner and I found this place while driving towards p. Terry's lol it could be hard to miss since it's just in a plaza. I just saw it and went inside and ordered and wow I was stunned by how good the food is. The staff is quaint and quiet! I got the chicken + broccoli lunch combo and it was superb! I will definitely keep ordering from here when I'm craving GREAT Asian food! Definitely a hole-in-the-wall!
google avatar

Mallorie M.

Yelp
I love this place!!!! I have been here well over 30+ times. I work right up the road and i always recommend to my co-workers and patients for a great lunch. Authentic Chinese food!

Christina C.

Yelp
Great sesame chicken and egg rolls. Love this place! Only downside is that they close randomly
google avatar

Kelsey S.

Yelp
It's ok, but not my favorite. The chicken is a lot of dark meat, which I'm not the biggest fan of. The fried rice is alright, but the last few times I ordered, the veggies were really raw.
google avatar

Felicia H.

Yelp
Unprofessional I know COVID 19 has hit us ALL bad!, but customer service should never change! I ordered General Tso chicken and shrimp fried rice. When I asked for soy sauce-cut me off quickly said "in the bag", then I asked for duck sauce- " duck sauce doesn't come with your meal"! I know ma'am I like to put on my rice! Ok " I can only give you at least 2packs"! By this moment I was walking out the door! In my thoughts All i wanted was one pack but the RUDENESS and unprofessionalism ... my next thoughts- NEVER will I be back! Got home chicken hard and rice dry... bye-bye Oh btw no soy sauce in bag
google avatar

Gabi S.

Yelp
Great food at affordable prices! Have been here a few times and will definitely come back. Really loved the cashew chicken!
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem! The food is great and if you don't know what to order, ask the owner for her favorites. She's a delight to talk to, anyway, so it's worth it to just stop by for that. She recommended the basil tofu and I'm hooked! My partner has asked me to pick up dinner here every week since we found it and he's not tired of it even after a month. It's tucked away on the corner of the strip and they are only doing takeout as of September 2022, but stop by and it will only take a little while for you to walk out with fresh, big portions of delicious food.

Yelp
I've been going to Little China for quite some time now, and I can say that while it used to be good, it has gone down in quality. I've ordered the General Tsao Chicken the past 5 times now, and they've reduced the amount of chicken in the box, as well as the broccoli being very watery in the box. I am essentially getting a box of watery chicken and broccoli. It really is a shame to see a gem of north Austin losing its touch. Please try to be a bit more generous with the chicken, and not make the food super watery. This will probably the last time I'll come to Little China, this makes me sad
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
I've learned that it's all about timing with little China. It's not ever going to be the best Chinese food you've had but you shouldn't expect that. If you go during lunch or dinner hours I find it's much better than off times like the middle of the afternoon. I always feel like it's a good deal for the price and I love that you can ask them to make any dish you want as spicy as you like!!
google avatar

Kara W.

Yelp
Yum! Stopped in during lunch and got the orange chicken special (meat, fried rice, soup). The soup, rice and egg roll were very tasty. And the orange chicken was amazing! The sauce had the right amount of kick, and the chicken had nice crispy skin but tender meat. I mopped up the extra sauce with the side of broccoli and it was perfection. Service was good and speedy, place was clean, and pricing was excellent. I'll definitely return to try other dishes from their large lunch menu!

Sam B.

Yelp
Little China is one of my favorite places around where I live. I usually get the Singapore style noodles with beef and a cup of the hot and sour soup, and both are always great! For the price of the food I think its about as good as it gets, but the lady who works there is the reason this place gets 5 stars for me. She is always incredible sweet and you almost feel like it's your mom making food for you lol. I think this place lost a lot of business during covid due to the fact that they don't have a huge presence on the internet and closed the dining room. All that being said, if you want takeout Chinese food, this is a great option!
google avatar

Ron M.

Yelp
Actually for a little hole in the wall the food was very tasty we make weekly visits

Kody A.

Yelp
The food was great, price was unbeatable, delivery service was quicker than expected... just an all around great experience.

Yelp
We were on the other side of town and craving Chinese. Yelped the area and this place came up and it had good reviews and good prices so we gave it a shot. I can see why! It's your typical little hole in the wall Chinese spot, but the food and service was great. They stay busy through pick up orders, sit down patrons, and phone calls. Our waiter was on point about making sure our cups were ALWAYS full with water. Our water never hit the bottom of the cup. The food was delicious, and they have so many options. Good for vegetarians too! There's even a section for vietnamese food. I got tofu pad thai and my husband got chicken curry fried rice. We both cleaned our plates. If were ever on this side of town again and craving Chinese, we have a new place to go. :)

Stanley M.

Yelp
I've been here over 20 times and have never been disappointed. This place is great with portions AND taste!!
google avatar

Madeline O.

Yelp
Fantastic food, and very fast! The General Tso's tofu was amazing, and so were the egg rolls.
google avatar

Yelp
Mediocre Chinese that I had already forgotten about until I noticed some pictures that I took and stored on my phone. I was in the mood for a Chinese lunch to take home after a doctor's appointment near North Austin Hospital, and this place is literally a few blocks away by back roads. I Yelped, of course, and decided on the Hot and Spicy Chicken, which ended up being neither; and while it's a visually pleasing dish, there wasn't much of it, and it had no depth of flavor whatsoever. I'm just not feeling the love here. Plus, this is the only Chinese lunch in town that I've ever come across that DID NOT INCLUDE SOUP! Hmmm...maybe a pretty tricky way of looking like you're getting a great-priced lunch...but not after you add a soup (egg drop, which was decent, but you could taste added bullion to pump up the broth). Oh, and they even charge for extra packets (not homemade) of hot mustard, etc. The egg roll was both doughy and some-kind-of-meaty with no discernible vegetables...definitely a forgettable meal. Fellow Yelpers, there is far better Chinese food to be had in North Austin.
google avatar

King D.

Yelp
Some foods take you back to your childhood and for me, grilled chicken vermicelli with fish sauce does that. Just like my cousin used to make. There was a lunch special when I went in as well.

Frances G.

Yelp
Have had many fine meals since Little China first opened, dine in and delivery. Food is unfailingly fresh, beautifully presented and seasoned to perfection. The owners and their family are friendly, gracious and rightly proud of their high quality dishes and the environment is always serene, cool, incredibly clean and inviting. I'm so happy that Little China has survived the last few years of the pandemic. They are devoted to maintaining a superior level of quality in all spheres. Gracywoods has been fortunate to have them in our midst.

Yelp
I have lived down the street from this place for a couple of years now. I can't believe I'm just now trying this place out. This place is so good! Ordered dinner here the other night and was very satisfied with my meal. I ordered the cream cheese wontons, which were pretty good. Kung POW beef, super delicious and not too spicy which is a plus. We also ordered the Generals Chicken, which wasn't too bad. Chicken was crispy and the sauce was a mixture of sweet and hot. We also ordered the egg rolls, which was amazing!! Pricing was very reasonable considering the amount of food we ordered. I do which they delivered, but since they were less than 5 minutes away, we couldn't complain at all. Overall, this place is delicious and definitely worth trying!
google avatar

Ralph S.

Yelp
This place has some really delicious lunch special starting at $6.50. Good sized lunch portions that include an egg roll and choice of soup.
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
I would say Little China was in between a 3 and 4 stars but there really isn't anything to complain about... My co-worker always eats here and since this place is SO close to where I live, I thought I would finally stop by. I noticed one of the specials on the board when you first walk in was Pad Thai...which I thought was kind of weird because isn't Pad Thai, Thai food? ;) Anyway, I went ahead and ordered it with tofu because I feel like you really can't go wrong with Pad Thai and I ordered fried bananas as well. The food was made fairly quickly and they were friendly, too...It was good and the fried bananas were pretty good (but kind of mushy although I think fried bananas usually are?) My guess is that the food here is pretty consistently good although standard Asian fare like one review noted. Since it's super convenient for me and I liked the food and service, prices were pretty standard, too, I'll probably be back :)
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
Went to this place for lunch, ordered pork fried rice and a sweet and sour chicken plate. The pork fried rice tasted very funky and wasn't pleasant. The sweet and sour chicken came with exactly 4 pieces of what seem like little chicken nuggets. Very upsetting to see how little the portions were. I eat a lot of Chinese food and this wasn't it. The rice didn't seem fried at all. Needless to say first and last time.
google avatar

Lauren U.

Yelp
Been ordering takeout here for months and it never disappoints! I order the vegetarian tofu lo mein every time...I don't know how they make their tofu so crispy and delicious! Prices and service is awesome, I absolutely love Little China.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
I just tried this place for delivery, very good, very fast. Picked the vermicelli grilled chicken after seeing pics on other reviews. It was a great choice. Two shrimp spring rolls and a big eater like myself was full. Okay maybe I should've ordered dessert shhhhh.
google avatar

Lorraine H.

Yelp
I understand that businesses including restaurants are doing the best they can during covid. However, because of the fact that businesses are struggling during covid, they should be trying their best to keep the customers that are coming in. With that being said, something has happened to the quality of the food of little China. The quality seems to have gone downhill. I ordered vegetable fried rice with tofu and I had to add Keikomon stir fry sauce in order to make it somewhat palatable. What happened? The food used to be so good. I used to order on a weekly basis. I move away for 2 years I come back and the food is crap! Never again. Now, I have to find a new Chinese restaurant. Bummer!
google avatar

Zack G.

Yelp
Love this place. The food is everything I need from a classic Chinese takeout joint plus the owners are super sweet. Try the orange tofu! I've never had anything there I didn't like.
google avatar

Sammi M.

Yelp
A hidden treasure!! My boyfriend and I just moved to the area a month or so ago and we're dying to find a good Asian restaurant close to home. WELL. Little China has truly been a great find. It a quiet restaurant that's super clean and has a lot of great options to choose from! Definitely the spot to go
google avatar

Russell B.

Yelp
This little out of the way place is a great find! Prices are very reasonable. Seems to be a family affair and the service is great. I have a hard time getting most Chinese restaurants to prepare my meals spicy enough. But the folks at Little China are not afraid to accommodate me and pour on the heat. All you have to do is ask!
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
It's just ok. The food isn't that great. It's edible. My grandmother always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. So, at the end of the day, you may have had worse Chinese food, but you've had better.

Abel M.

Yelp
Great food and great service.. Eric is friendly and courteous and exceptional delivery service..
google avatar

Don R.

Yelp
First BBQ Pork fried rice I've been able to find in Texas and it was absolutely exceptional.
