I have a soft spot for diners that sell breakfast past noon and americana classics like root beer floats. The food was decent and I would come back. It definitely looks like the interior of this place hasn't changed since the late 80s but on the upside the prices also seem like they haven't changed! My double stack of pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 bacon was only $11. The one downside is it smelled a little like lingering cigarette smoke and as we were getting ready to leave the smoke smell intensified, like maybe someone was smoking in the back. Idk but I'm glad we didn't have to smell that while we were eating.

Very nice and cozy diner. The staffs were really nice. Food was good. The egg and omelette was great. Hash browns were good. Grit was okay. I also liked the pancakes. Great place to have breakfast.

This place will always be my fav breakfast spot. It has that old school diner feel with those classic breakfast dishes. It’s nothing fancy, but that is the beauty of it. Love their skillets and biscuits & gravy. Also, the service is impeccable. I should have set a timer, but I swear our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering.

VERY generous portions and VERY good. I couldn't even finish my breakfast. The Omelet itself filled me. Not the prettiest place but PERFECT for Very good food at a Very reasonable price

Standard diner atmosphere. This is the best breakfast place in Edgewater OR Uptown. They don't do stupid things with their recipes like grill biscuits and burned them Instead of steaming them for biscuits and gravy, and so forth. I've lived in Chicago for over 30 years and I have watched many diners come and go. I've also watched them turn into really bad places to eat. This one has always stayed at the same high level. I don't bother with any other place now. Enjoy!

I love my protien French toast with bananas! The waitress always brings the sugar free syrup when we sit down. 😁

A Northside city dweller's perfect dream of a cozy diner, the Little Corner Restaurant, has everything a walkable neighborhood needs. A truly accessible daytime food spot located on a busy street corner a block away from a Red Line stop (Thorndale), this place has got your breakfast and lunch needs til 3pm. With plenty of seating and natural daylight peeking in through the many windows, the Little Corner makes for an ideal stop for a nice group or solo meal. The seating inside has a number of booths, along with a diner bar area centralized in the middle of the restaurant. While the space itself is small, it does not get too busy, at least in the afternoons during the week. This is the no-frills spot in Edgewater you've been looking for! And if you're not a fan of dining in, they have takeout as an option as well! The price is just right with whatever you order, in my opinion. If you're looking for breakfast food items, I highly recommend the very filling Gyro Omelet. Coffee is real good here too! The waitress was very attentive and generous with her pours It's so refreshing to walk into an establishment that does not try too hard to wow you with flashy entrees; with Little Corner Restaurant, you're getting food made with love every time.

I had just come to the beach and only had a Danish and coffee for breakfast so I needed something, on a wim ran In and ordered this wonderful salad. they don't substitute, although I will say everything is super fresh and made to order. All the patriots were regulars, you could tell. Restaurant was quiet & super clean. if possible I'd love to grab breakfast there in the morning b4 we head for the airport. Definitely a hidden gem.

I thought this restaurant was pretty good! No GF bread, so you know that's an automatic loss of a star... Anyway, I like the ambiance. It looks like it hasn't been updated since maybe the 70's and it's awesome! There's a huge counter to sit at, as well as a few booths on the outer perimeter. It's small, and I bet it gets pretty busy, so maybe try to go on an off time? The server was incredibly nice and sweet, and attentive. We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and I'm glad we did. This is a gem of a place. Inexpensive, super food Great breakfast. And they now automatically bring the vinegar for fries hash browns and mashed potatoes!

I love this place, good value and good food and if you want to socialize a bit and sit after you get your meal they don't rush you out the door. takes credit cards too. and near the L train for the redline CTA as well as bus service

Food is basic "made at home" no frills and delicious. Old diner type of restaurant with nice waitresses and a creepy owner.

I used to be a regular at this place, and I was always a VERY good tipper. When I get good service (doesn't have to be stellar) I pay up. I've always tolerated their dirty bathrooms and tried not to use them unless I really had to. Their good food and service made up for it. I still live 2 blocks away, but I will never come back. They always used to come by and ask if everything was okay and refill your coffee with no problems. (Their coffee is good, but certainly not great, just standard diner coffee.) When they reopened after COVID, they stopped offering refills and I was told (very harshly) that the refill I had just requested would be my last one. When I paid, I asked the server (who blamed "management" for this new rule before telling me she's a manager - huh?) she said that "some people" (her exact words) drink too much coffee and their coffee is expensive, now you can only get three cups per meal, blah blah blah. I was shocked because no one there had thought to tell me about this. I reminded her I was a regular (she had seen me there a ton of times) and also a good tipper, but she didn't care. She basically told me I was stealing from them. All this happened within earshot of other customers who all turned to look at me. She did NOT care. Again, I always tipped very well, my orders were very simple, I was never demanding or unreasonable, and I was always very polite to the staff. I did NOT deserve that treatment. I was livid and swore I'd never return, and I haven't. Now I feel I have to tell others about this. They will nickel and dime you to death, charging outrageous extra prices for things that used to be free, and on top of that they "cut you off" when they feel like it, like you're some bum mooching off of them. The manager in question is a short Hispanic woman who never told me her name, unsurprisingly. At this point I was so angry that I forgot to ask her, and of course, no one wears name tags there. Her attitude was breathtakingly dismissive. I did not and do not deserve to be treated like a thief, and they have lost my business forever. Their food is good, and before COVID, their service was excellent. Now they've become greedy and nasty. I recommend you take your hard-earned dollars to Cozy Corner on Clark (great food *and* service), Edge of Sweetness on Broadway, or Metropolis on Granville instead. This dump does not deserve your patronage.

We love this place and visit every chance we get! Breakfasts are our faves but lunch sandwiches are great too. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere cozy and laid back!

You get a bang for your buck at this classic little diner. Prices seem normal, but what you do get is a lot of food. I ordered the two biscuits and gravy and made it a special, which come with eggs and your choice of side. I did not expect to get 4 biscuits with gravy, which were delicious by the way, and the classic egg and sides breakfast which is pretty hard to mess up. The waitress had a little bit of a hard time understanding me when I asked her what the soup of the day was, but she figured it out.

I love this little gem!! Perfect place for anyone that wants to go back to original diner food. The staff is so nice and the service is quick. Every time I go there, it's just a great experience. I love taking friends when they come to visit. Definitely an I recommend

This is the perfect place if you just want a local breakfast diner experience! I don't think the decor has been updates since the 1980s and that's perfectly okay! The food is wonderful if you're looking for simple comfort food. There's no avocado toast or vegan breakfast chilaquiles here, it's just simple breakfast and diner staples but it really hits the spot if you're in the mood.

This place is your classic American diner. It's no frills, but the food is always consistent. Disclaimer: I only order breakfast meals though. Super quick service, but always friendly. Tends to be very busy on weekends.

This is a good neighborhood breakfast spot. I have been coming here on and off since the pre-Yelp days. The service is excellent and the food is good. You seat yourself (I've never had to wait for a table) and the staff is always friendly. On this most recent visit, I sat at the counter and the server gave me a menu immediately and asked what if I wanted coffee. The good service continued throughout my meal. I ordered a Greek omelette, which arrived quickly and tasted good. One interesting thing is, if you say no toast, the server offers you tomato slices. These aren't the beat tomato slices, but I ate them with the omelette. I sat at the counter, ate my Greek omelette and read the news, an all around good experience.

Amazing omelets so glad we tried it there were 3 of us we all loved our food it was on a busy Sunday morning food came fast waitress was great can't wait to go back !!

It's a shame when you support a small local business for 25 years & they let you clearly know that your loyalty is not valued. I've often eaten here since I moved to the neighborhood. When I'm alone (especially on the weekend), I'm careful not to linger (so they can turn the table) and I always tip well. I went in alone this morning. There was no one else waiting (and there were a few empty tables). The host offered the counter. I requested a booth or a table (they have several booths for two). I was willing to wait until one of them was open. The host told me that solo diners were no longer allowed to use booths or tables. For a place where the service has consistently been indifferent, the food only average and the physical space always run down, good luck treating loyal customers that way. Back to Alexander's & Cozy Corner.

We come here nearly once a week, sometimes twice. Good serving sizes for the price, waitresses are nice and attentive, food never takes too long. Only ever had a couple misfires but with how often we go there that's expected. Food is as good as you could want for what it is. Absolutely no complaints, except I guess the milkshakes are kinda mediocre and I didn't really like the monte cristo but I've had nearly the whole menu so if that's all I got that's sayin something. Ambiance is really nice, very quiet even when it's busy. Lots of comfortable booth seats. I wish they were open longer so I could come here on work days. Favorite restaurant in the city.

I live a half a block away. I've been going here for almost 9 years. I know Chicago is a big city but each little neighborhood is like a small little village. They know very well who I am I'm always friendly I always tip well. They can't greet me when I come through the door and say hello good morning they can't learn my name and make it a little bit more personal?? Why not? Now they raise the prices I'm dropping $20 for eggs .I'm not going anymore

Small, intimate, and stuck in the 1980s. The music is literally from the 80s. The restaurant is really a diner. Everything from the walls, to the ceiling tiles, to the counter looks like it is straight from Ferris Bueller. The reason this place has survived this long is clearly because it is a local, dependable, breakfast place. The food was great. The menu is not so extravagant that you get lost. The coffee and tea are fresh. What a nice walk down memory lane. Oh, and definitely get the French toast as the side order, although the pancake is pretty awesome as well. The only reason I don't give this a 5 is because the place could use a donating area update. They could easily update like Manny's in the South Loop did.

Little Corner Restaurant is everything that you expect from a neighborhood diner. Pros: The food comes out so unbelievably quick and it's tasty. The food is extremely basic but they found a way to consistently make it good. You can definitely tell that this is a place that has a steady stream of regulars. From the few times that I've visited the clientele has been so diverse which I love! You have the cute older couples, police officers, families, etc. I love any place that attracts a wide range of customers. Even though the booths full up quickly they always have ample counter space for smaller groups. I would highly suggest going solo or with one other person to ensure you don't have to wait a long time for a seat. Cons: The bathroom is an absolute sauna! I've only visited Little Corner Restaurant during this winter but every time I've used the restroom it's been like going to a hot yoga class. Their gas bill must be enormous because I start sweating the moment I enter into the restroom. Little Corner Restaurant is not great for large groups. The front room has always been packed every time I've visited. If you keep your group to four or less people you will have a blast! Overall: Little Corner Restaurant is a great place to visit if you're looking for a place that makes a consistently good breakfast. The food is just okay but the atmosphere and the cuteness of the clientele makes up it.

Classic Chicago diner. When I walked in and I saw the counter it took my breath away. The tables and booth surrounding the counter we're just as great.. this place is stuck in the 70s and it should stay right where it is. The food and service were fantastic and as we were walking out to pay they had a cash register back from the 60s and or 70s. My childhood and great memories came flooding back at least for a few moments. Back when life was easy, And you didn't have to worry about stuff like you do now.

I love this place. One of my favorite diner spots in the city. No frills diner with great food and an easy to understand menu.

Stopped in for breakfast last Sunday, place was very busy but we got seated and served very quickly. Loved the coziness and relaxed atmosphere. If I lived in Edgewater I would make this a regular place to eat. Everything tasted great! Coffee hit the spot and I ordered a breakfast sandwich - sausage egg and cheese, with hash browns which were more like scalloped potatoes, soft underneath but very crispy on top- very tasty! Hope to go again sometime.

I've been meaning to write a review for this spot for years! The LCR has been here for at least as long as I've lived in the area and I'm really glad it's still here (i.e. that it's survived the pandemic as well as the openings (and closings ) of some other fancier spots). Their breakfast food is great - huge omelettes, fluffy French toast...okay grits, etc. and their portions make the already decent prices seem even better. Especially with the assortment of sides that you get with most choices. I have had some misses with their non-breakfast items, but I'm still willing to try more of them. The staff is friendly enough and at least one seems to recognize me, which is nice since I do t go there THAT often. They're also fairly quick with food preparation as well. The interior is meh - nothing fancy but nothing too off putting either. Maybe a few ripped seats here and there. I've rarely had to use the facilities there but seem to remember they could've used a little more elbow grease but the dining room itself is clean. It would be nice if their online presence worked better/at all. I always have to hunt for a menu using a different source other than the one on their website because it never works. If you're looking for tasty food (especially breakfast), and nice and quick service that won't hurt your wallet then this is definitely the spot for you.

Perfectly named, it's little and on a corner. A handful of booths and a small number of seats around an old school counter. Nothing fancy here, friendly old school service and menu. Mostly breakfast, and reasonably priced too! I like the options, I had French toast, and was able to choose between 4 or 6 slices, for me 4 is plenty. Especially since I decided to add eggs and bacon for a mere 2$. Coffee was solid also. I really appreciated that my eggs weren't overcooked, a simple thing that for some reason isn't always simple. I was going to stop at another place close-by that also has breakfast that is new in the area and drawing many people, seeing how packed it was, I gave it some thought what is it that I want to eat, hmmm just a basic breakfast. Time to give that little place across the street a try, it really looks like what I'm looking for. Nice to have another option, it's a shame that many of these places are disappearing from Chicago.

What a cute diner! Don't drive by- stop in! The food was surprisingly good. I had my hesitation at first but I'm very satisfied! I had the Reuben sandwich and my roommate had a supreme omelette came with side of potato and pancakes. We both very much enjoyed our food especially since it took less than 10mins to get our food! Talk about hot and ready! Loved this place. Will recommend and will return. My only suggestion is that they update the bathrooms. It's one thing to have a vintage feeling of an establishment for the experience but in some areas modern touches go a long way. :) new hardware on the sink handles or new counter or mirror or a touch of fresh paint. It's a little falling apart. Will not stop us from coming back tho!

What a great place! I was late for a meeting and I arrived realizing I was at the wrong place. My mis-clicked link/ gps....uggh! They were extremely understanding after setting up my place settings . I felt so bad and they were very kind. I will back soon to have a full blown breakfast! Please support them! And Happy 2020

Worst service! Very disrespectful lady server!.. i went inside for brunch and sat down on the table one lady server gave me a cofee then left. I ask for the other lady for an equal sugar. EQUAL!.. she gave me a different sugar sweetener without a word or explanation and turn her back. I called her and told her miss i ask for EQUAL sigar sweetener and you have me a different one. She answered me like oh thats the only one we have. So i said miss you be nicer to me as a customer and tell me that we don't have equal but we have a replacement and i could have understand. Very bad and rude service soni left!.. why should i patronize this kind of disrespectful service towards customers!..

I wanted to try them out, because a friend praised them. However, I was met with mediocre diner food and service. If that's your steeze, I highly recommend. BUT it was not that clean inside and my partner and I found a gnat in the sugar on the table.

So upset by how this greasy spoon turned out. The wait staff seemed more interested in counting their tips than by checking in with patrons. When I asked what the waitress suggested I get, she responded with "its depends" so no excitement there... I said -well I'm here for lunch, she said "it depend on what you like..." I normally asked this to get the best or most popular item but I should have came with a will of my own... We got someone else's order dropped off at our table and then when she realized it was wrong she tried to explain that it was ours but she misunderstood-then quickly grabbed food to return to rightful patron VERY awkward interface. I will try again for breakfast and breakfast only, the club sandwich has NO TASTE at all. Fries were delicious thank goodness. My partners chicken sandwich was inedible as they seemed to scramble to make it...(I think they realized they neglected to put our order in) The wait staff was so lack luster and really downright depressing, I felt like they reflect the cleanliness of the actual restaurant. Again saw every waitress count their tips before I saw them refill a cup of DAMN GOOD COFFEE. Sincerely would go back for a cup of the coffee they had; that and the fries were satisfying, but all in all, the lunch I got and the experience as a first time visitor was that of a wafer with no flavor.

Great little diner that we finally experienced while visiting Loyola. It's a nice walk from campus especially when it's nice outside! It was a short wait for a booth and once we sat down, it took a little longer to get drinks and our order. But, the server was really nice and once we ordered, the food didn't take long. The pancakes were the best, super fluffy along with my scrambled eggs with feta! They have hash brown potatoes that are cooked just right with a little crunch. My husband had the eggs Benedict which was delicious as well! We decided to return again for breakfast with my daughter who we were visiting and everything was delicious again. I tried the French toast, which was made perfectly, not soggy or overlooked. The prices are reasonable too! It's a classic diner that I hope to come back to soon!

I dropped by this corner joint for an early lunch while I was wandering around the neighborhood. The wait staff was overworked, but they did a pretty good job of keeping up despite how busy they were. The bacon was great, and the biscuits and gravy was not too bad. I'd stop by if you get a chance.

I normally don't leave any negative feedback but .. this place does have Good food but customer service is not great, the back room is not to health code, at all. Between a clearly moldy vent blowing hot air onto us, which doubley adds to the concern. Left of that vent, was a large patch of mold or major discoloring of the ceiling and looks like it's a about to fall on you. But over all they are trying.

I absolutely love this place. Classic greasy-spoon diner, complete with a horseshoe-shaped formica counter. The service is friendly, the portions hefty, the prices extremely reasonable, and I always leave with a smile on my face. My wife and I usually come here for breakfast -- we can't get enough of their scrambles or their pancakes -- but their grilled cheese sandwich with fries makes for a very satisfying lunch. They usually have some serious 80s jams happening, as well!

Just a great little neighborhood diner, the likes of which are slowly fading away. The food is always hot & fresh and delicious. The price is more than fair. Definitely stop in if you're in he are for breakfast.

Been eating here on and off for almost 20 years and I hope it never closes. After a decade or so of coming for breakfast I have started to stop in for lunch. I don't know what took me so long. Simple, fresh, inexpensive, unpretentious. Friendly people. Super friendly. Always accommodating. Fast. Easy. Fresh soup everyday. Gotta love the dinner-all-morning concept.

First off it is a cute little cafe. The issues are that they bathroom needs remodeling. The staff is not really friendly unless you know them, or at least that is the way it seems. The potato wedges or cubes need to be cooked more, some of them were kinda raw on inside. Good coffee and the foods I have had have been good. Prices fair.

This is my go to brunch spot since I live in the hood! You get the diner vibe u seen in the movie going to this place. The food is always great ; from skillet to gravy and biscuit. Only downside is I wish their coffee is not so bland :(

Love me some diner food. Especially breakfast. Used to come here years ago (before they accepted credits cards). Food was always OK. Hadn't been in a while, so I popped in. There was only one waitress, so service was not as "rapid" as other Yelpers have written. I ordered the chorizo omelet. Diners frequently use the flatop to make an omelet. Needless to say, you cant get a omelet "fluffy" on a flatop. But there is a trick ......don't cook the life out the eggs. Suffice it to say, my omelet was like eating a dried out cracker. The "well-done" rye toast I ordered was like warm bread, not toast. All egg dishes come with a choice of hash browns or what they call "diced potatoes". Hash browns are the frozen kind, but server told me "diced" were fresh. They are fresh indeed. French fried cubes of potato. (I thought they maybe were like home fries). My bad, Meh. I've been to better neighborhood diners in the area.

Okay - so if you like a greasy spoon, this is your place. With so many wonderful breakfast places, this isn't my choice. Think Mel's Diner. The food is a pretty standard fare for diner food. But really, if this place had Flo saying, "Kiss my grits, Mel," then I might give it a second go. Toast, eggs, bacon are all standards. Not much to say - other than... "diner food."

The water taste like sewer water and the hashbrown are so over cooked and bacon was soggy. Sorry not the greatest.

Wow, by far the worst breakfast in Chicago so far. Came here with my bro and a friend. Got the biscuits and gravy. Disgusting. Everything on everyones plate was disgusting.. Great prices, but like everyone says you get what you pay for. If you are really feeling lazy and want breakfast, you are close enough to a nice dominicks to grab some pilsbury cinnamon roles, a donut, or something! Save yourself from a terrible start to your day....

I was served the most AWFUL slice of cherry pie ever. It was a huge piece of gummy gelatinous mess. I found six tiny pieces of cherry in the entire slice. It was inedible. I told the waitress but she refused to take the pie off the bill.
