On the Grid : Little Fitzroy

"“Passion is contagious, it rubs off onto other people”, says Cathryn, owner of Little Fitzroy. It’s clearly evident as the morning rush of customers eagerly await their speciality coffee. This was setup to fill a gap in the local area where you can get caffeinated from 8am (7am on the weekend). They offer a vegetarian and vegan breakfast/brunch menu too, which complements the coffee, and have an extensive pressed juice menu too. Watch out for Little Fitzroy’s monthly dumpling pop-up, part of the Slow Food movement, which is definitely worth sampling. Just don’t come on Tuesdays, it’s the one day they are closed." - fourcolourblack

Cute little breakfast place, amazing food (all vegan apart from pastries) and a nice selection of drinks

For years now, Little Fitzroy has been my number one place for take away coffee. The bean selection changes regularly, they champion local roasters, and the flat whites are flawless. I love looking at the espresso list written on the shop window to see what the flavour notes are and then testing my own senses to see if I can taste the same thing - a bit of coffee fun every time I visit! Little Fitzroy is also doing the best value take away coffee in the city if you bring your own cup/mug. Great price for fantastic coffee! The staff are super friendly and they can recommend beans to take home and they'll grind them for you too. Ashton recently recommended some beans to me that were well-matched to my preferred flavour profile. Kat also gave me recommendations for specialty coffee shops in another city/country, which were great. Whether it's for sit in or take away, Little Fitzroy is an undeniable coffee institution in Edinburgh. Don't miss out!

Cute, cozy, and delicious coffee shop in Edinburgh. My husband & I wanted to visit new establishments during our trip and coffee is our love language so naturally we had to check out Little Fritzroy Coffee. Glad we did! We arrived shortly after they opened and were greeted by some friendly faces. They walked us through their menu and we ended up ordering two muesli’s, two lattes, and a pain au raisin (my favorite European bread!). The muesli was amazing! Very tasty, lots of flavor, and filling. The coffee was delicious as was the baked good. I would highly recommend this coffee shop if you’re looking for a beautiful cup of coffee and some good breakfast choices.

Big thank you and shout out for your incredible customer service. I order a coffee while waiting for my bus. Place was busy and coffee was taking a bit of time understandably. Unfortunately, I had to make a move and informed that I had to leave coffee behind and come back another time. Fortunately for me, barista run after me and gave me my coffee as I was entering the bus. Dis not get your name but will come back to thank you as coffee also was incredible!! 😊😊😊😊

I think I just had the best coffee of my life. The rating is well deserved. I was sceptical about the Kimchi bun but it’s great. I’m not even a black coffee drinker and the long black was delicious! The iced flat white was refreshing on this rare Edinburgh sunny summer day.

Hate writing this as Little Fitzroy is my favorite coffee spot having lived on Easter Road for three years now but I’ve noticed the customer service has been off the last few times I’ve been in. Walked in today and was stood at the till for about a minute without being acknowledged as the staff at the till continued on her conversation with the baristas. Felt really strange as I knew she could see me, it felt like i was interrupting them so I walked away. The staff who have worked there for a while now are all super lovely but maybe your newer staff need to show a little bit more warmth to customers!

5 years of drinking little fitz coffees and I’m yet to have anything short of great! Rotating multiple choice of espresso, banging batch brew. Best buns in town (savoury and sweet) Service is personal and friendly. They are such a big part of the Easter road community. Also Ashton’s ever changing hair colours will never not bring me joy ❤️💚💙

Friendly staff, amazing coffee, reasonable prices and tasty pastries. This is my favourite coffee shop on this side of the city. The only improvement could be letting people queue indoors to speed up the service but it's a minor thing
