Insider Hacks for the Minnesota State Fair | Eater Twin Cities

"I bring kids to Little Farm Hands for family-friendly activities on Machinery Hill — it’s the kind of hands-on family fun that makes that quieter corner worth a visit." - Alex Lodner

I cannot say enough good things about Little Hands! My daughter is obsessed- Vanessa is the sweetest, talented, and caring teacher. It is such a fun class, she finds a way to have kids participate and have so much fun. It is the perfect about of stimulation- no too over the top where they feel overwhelmed but not too little where they are distracted. I highly recommend!

Little Hands Music and its founder, Beth Frook, greatly contributed to my twin daughters’ early childhood development through their wonderful music and movement programs. We have participated in the Reston-based Little Hands programs at Brown’s Chapel for more than three years, since my girls were 14 months old, as well as Little Hands’ summer music camp program at the Lake House. Beth’s warm and engaging personality – and singing voice – coupled with her extensive knowledge as an early childhood educator and musician as well as her wisdom as a mother herself all contribute to a fantastic experience for the children participating in her programs. Beth and her staff do an exceptional job of nurturing, celebrating and cherishing each child’s participation and contributions. This was one of the best investments we made for our girls – I only wish I had started with Little Hands when my girls were infants.

So, do you have a little musician in your family.... or would you like to try to inspire a tot to tap into their rhythmic side before they even know how to talk? Little Hands is definitely the place for you! They offer music classes for infants, toddlers, & young kids at several of their locations in the MD/VA area. I know it's hard to imagine the average 6 month old keeping in tune with the bassline, but it's really fun for them. It encourages creativity and learning through sound (early math skills, anyone?), while allowing them freedom to roam about (or drool, kick, crawl if they're in those stages! I found street parking relatively easily (for the Old Town area, at least) and the teacher was excellent. Since they were celebrating their 20 year anniversary, they happened to be giving out CDs to all of the kids of original music, rhymes, etc.! That was a pleasant treat. I'd try Little Hands, if only once, because it's just as fun for the adults to interact with the kids. Some of us are big kids, anyway... (wink)
