Little Havana Restaurant

We visited Little Havana Restaurant in North Miami on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the recommendation of a friend who’s a native Miamian. We used to frequent the Little Havana district for Cuban food when in the area of south Florida, and this trip would be no exception. When I shared with her our intention, she reminded me for the umpteenth time that we have not experienced authentic Cuban cuisine if we have not been to the restaurant named “Little Havana.” Authenticity aside, and yes it was the most authentic Cuban restaurant we’ve visited in south Florida, the food was delicious. My husband loves his lamb shank, and because he just recently enjoyed the finest Lamb Shank dish in his experience, he was a little hesitant to explore the unknown. In the end he decided to order the dish to compare styles of preparation. He was in heaven: the meat was tender and juicy, and in his words “fall off the bone good.” The seasoning for the wine sauce was portioned so that not one taste predominated yet the combination yielded an intricate flavor with a satisfying depth. It was served with the usual accoutrements of white rice and black beans. Unfortunately I failed to get a photo. My dish was the Ropa Vieja from the lunch special side of the menu. While this is a standard offering in just about every Cuban and Latin Fusion restaurant, the creole sauce was outstanding. Most of the meat was tender, and for a lunch size portion there was a satisfying amount of food. The meat was accompanied with white rice, plantains and black beans. The plantains are a favorite of mine and they were delicious. A little about the atmosphere: this is a huge restaurant! We were seated with a window view of a large waterfall, a brick wall with patches of paint and bare bricks to create an illusion of being distressed through age or weather, with arched windows outlined in brick, landscaping including flower beds and a lawn complete with flamingo ornaments. Judging by the string of lights, it must be a lovely scene at night. It was so much nicer than looking out onto a city street, and it’s obvious that a lot of thought went into creating this scene for the guests. Our server was very professional and efficient. We had a lovely and delicious lunch and will certainly visit this gem in North Miami the next time we’re in south Florida.

This place is larger than you think. They have a party side for large parties and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. They also have a back dining area where you can eat and watch a waterfall. The service and food are phenomenal. You have multiple waitresses waiting on you, so you all the attention you need. Okay, let's talk about the chicken chunks, marinated, tender, juicy, seasoned to the bone, and then fried to a crisp on the outside. The best hands down. They were so good I had it as an appetizer and meal. The pork chunks did not disappoint 😋 they were equally delicious. You are served warm rolls and butter as much as you want. I also had a mango mojito and Coco Havana. Watch those drinks they are not for the weak. Overall, 10 out of 10, and I highly recommend.

During breast cancer awareness month, it's all about wearing pink and promoting getting your mammograms. The food was good.The ambiance was wonderful.

After having dined here a few times I can confidently say the food tastes better each visit! The 5 star is the dish to get with 5 different meats to split (lamb, steak, chicken, etc). Plantains are cooked to perfection - the best I've had. We got each of the three flans - all phenomenal (regular, caramel, coconut). The fried pork (?) cubes are a must. The piña colada has ice cubes and is not a slushy consistency. One of the creamiest I've tasted. Live music up front on Friday & Saturday nights to make you feel as though you're a couple hundred miles south in Cuba 🥁🎻🎶🪇

This restaurant is a good place to go get authentic Cuban food with family or friends. You can get a good variety in the menu. The food is good, the service is good, the atmosphere of this location good as well. Indoors dining area and a Safari Room with a taxidermy collection. They have variety of Cuban drinks as well as Platters to share and lunch specials. It also has some cool Cuban decor and old school paintings of la Havana.

A cozy restaurant with delicious Cuban cuisine. Prices are better than in Miami Beach and downtown. The waitress is welcoming and friendly, without being pushy, which is noticeable in the tourist areas.

We went here many times years ago. Just return after 10 years since our last visit and was pleasantly surprised to see that nothing had changed. Great Cuban food at reasonable prices and served by a most professional staff. Seriously, the wait staff is as good as in any high-end fine dining restaurant. The place can be both casual and formal at the same time, i guess this would be called casual elegance?. We have never had a bad dish there. Their pork in tamarind sauce and the whole fried snapper are two of our favorites. We go whenever we are in the area, but that is not often enough.

We found this place on google when we were looking for authentic Cuban food, we sure glad we did! The menu is great with many choices in all traditional flavors. Of course we have to try the Fried Snapper that was mouthwatering! The Tamarindo chicken was great as well. But there no words that could explain how delicious their Flan was, it’s something that you won’t experience anywhere else. Definitely worth the visit and will come back again when we come back to Florida.

Amazing Cuban Food!!!! We've been by here a million times, yet we experience their delightful food because of their delicious catering. So of course we wanted to check them out. We walked in to a wonderful Cuban atmosphere with friendly and informative staff. Their Oxtail in Wine Sauce was outstanding. My hubby had the Pork Filet which was tasty, super moist, and smothered with yummy sautéed onion. Can't wait to come back on the weekend when they have live music. Highly recommended!!!!

I've been a loyal, regular customer for years, but what happened during my last visit was not only disappointing... it was unsafe and unacceptable. We were a party of six, including my 1-year-old son in a high chair, seated in the big dining area (the one that's usually closed during the week). Around 7:50 PM, our waiter placed a hot to-go coffee directly in front of my baby. There were plenty of other safe spots on the table, but instead it was set right in front of a child. Naturally, he reached for it, spilled it, and burned his leg. And then -- nothing. Not one staff member stopped to ask if he was okay, if we needed help, or even to apologize. The entire restaurant was staring at us, and the staff just carried on as if nothing happened. If management wants proof, check your cameras. You will see exactly what happened. This is more than bad service -- it's a serious safety issue. Your staff needs better training to be aware, to use common sense, and to prioritize customer safety, especially around children. To make matters worse: * We received no refills the entire meal. * We were a table of six regular customers and still treated with zero care or urgency. I've always supported this restaurant, but after this experience, I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. I truly hope management takes this seriously, reviews the cameras, and trains the staff to be more attentive and responsible.

1. We went because the sign said live music on Fri/Sat. No one knew what the heck we were talking about 2.The server(s) horrible and it has nothing to do with language barrier because I am able to communicate in Spanish. No smiles. Everyone gathering around for a whale before anyone ask 3. The food is HORRIBLE. The food comes in 5 minutes after ordering. So cold. The waiter offered to microwave it. I used to be a big fan of the place but it has deteriorated tremendously. Old food reheated. Black Beans watered down. Rice is cold.

Haven't been there in over 15 years. The food was still good and service. I don't have any pictures because I was being greedy and ate it as soon as it came to the table lol.

I absolutely love cuban food and this place does it as good as anyone. Staying a night over in the area before boarding a cruise ship and the first thing I did was look up a local cuban restaurant and this place was right down the street. What else can I say? It's simple, the service was quick and good, the food was excellent and there's chickens in the parking lot......it's perfect.

We had an excellent Cuban dinner Saturday night at Little Havana. This place was recommended to us due to it being a staple in this community for the last 40 years! The service was fast and very pleasant. We loved the wooden tables and other decor. The chicken was grilled very well and tasted great. The fish was very flavorful and lovely. Overall, a great place for some authentic Cuban dishes. 8 out of 10!!!

The food was amazing, there was enough for me to bring back home here to Central Florida. The service was great in the ambience was chill. Will definitely be back when I'm in South Florida again.

Best Cuban Food in North Miami. Frijoles Negros are dependable good. Tamal is above average. I like Camarones Enchiladas; Lechón Asado; TRÍO; ROPA VIEJO;

A real gem in North Miami Beadh. Authoring Cuban restaurant with the right vivbe. A friend turned me on to this place. I love walking in and the decor makes you feel like you are in old Havana. Friendly service. I had the palomino steal with rice and black beans. The Cuban. Fried bananas. Tres leches. All fantastic and tasty. This is a must. Sorry no photos on this review.

North Miami - Consistently good. This time I had the vaca frita entree, with black beans, rice and plantains. Generous portions. Reasonable prices. Excellent service and convenient parking. The interior is clean, expansive and comfortable. Still recommended after all these years.

Friendly and helpful waitstaff took great care of us. The setting is lively and pretty and the coffee and ropa vieja were delicious

Cuban food is a staple in Miami! Whenever I am in the mood for good Cuban food Little Havana is a must. We started off with the ham croquette and ham and cheese empanadas! They were delicious as usual. Reminded me of the Cuban cafeteria by my old middle school. I ordered the Cuba libre and was very disappointed. It was super watery and tasted like bottom shelf liquor. It wasn't good. For dinner I ordered the Cuban chicken dinner. Delicious. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to perfection. The rice and beans complemented the meal well. These guys are back! After Covid we stopped coming bc their flavors weren't the same after years of patronage. We reluctantly took guests from out of town last week and were blown away. Everything was back to their excellence, the chinmichurri sauce, little Havana steaks, oxtail, Marquita's, and tamal con chorizo. So good, and so happy we can enjoy this place fully again. Even the service was top tier. Thank you!

Great staff. Food came out right away. We haven't been here in years but the fried pork cubes are just as tender and seasoned perfectly as they were before. The cuban chicken was garlicky just as I imagined. Delicious. Accompanied with the most delicious black beans, white rice and sweet plantains. we enjoyed our meal and ended it with Tres Leches. It was a generous slice that we shared. As you can see we devoured it before I thought to take a picture. We were in Deerfield which has outdoor seating. So much nicer than the air-conditioning. We'll be back!

Fast, good service. Delicious food. Kind of empty but it was a Monday. I recommend it. The portions are big. The place is huge.

A staple in North Miami but recently the food quality has gone down. Wasn't really happy that our food came out way too fast like it was all premade. The food itself was very ehhh. Don't think I'll be going back there

This place did not disappoint. Yummy Cuban food. The bread is delicious and so was my Cuban sandwich. My hubby tried the fish and that was amazing too. Too bad we don't live there to go more often but I would definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

Food was delicious and at a great price however the Piña Colada and frozen Sangria were not frozen at all.

We stopped at Little Havana before heading to the airport in Miami. The service was quick and friendly. The food was good - I enjoyed the beef empanadas! They were seasoned well and served hot. The pork chunks were flavorful as well. The red snapper wasn't the most seasoned -- it could have used a little more marinating. The ambiance was family friendly and laid back. I would definitely go again if in the area.

After seven years of not coming here, we wanted to come back to retry this amazing restaurant we would also come to at least once a week. It was just a ling distance for us to travel to and the parking can be a little bit limited. They had the restaurant nicely decorated for Halloween, so that was pretty cool. We were seated immediately, and our waiter was super attentive and friendly the entire time! For appetizers, we ordered some ham croquettes, which were very tasty. They also gave us complimentary cuban bread. For entrees, we each got something different; everyone enjoyed their dish! I had the grilled fish fillet with moro rice and plantains, and everything complimented each other perfectly. I tried some of my dad's creole fish as well, and the sauce and veggies are seasoned nicely. Lastly for dessert my parents ordered a flan made of dulce de leche, which tasted amazing! It was perfect to satisfy our sweet tooth. Overall, an amazing experience, and we were glad to have tried it again :)

The staff are amazing and the food is spectacular! Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is excellent. We have been eating at Little Havana Restaurant for a few years and it's an amazing place. There is plenty of parking and a safe place.

Great food and service! Pleasant dining experience. They have been around about 40 years and that's why. I was surprised how big the space is with a separate bar!

I have been going to Little Havana for over 20 year's and enjoy the food always. I usually have the Large Fried Red Snapper (Crispy). The Ox Tail's are always great. My friend's Love comming to LIttle Havana to eat and Celebrate Life. The fish strips and Little Havana Skirt Steak is Awesome. Or try the Chicken Steak with Fried Onion's. On Holiday's especially for Christmas you can order to go the pork Leg, in Spanish, It's called ( Pierna De Puerco). Very rudely employees There ruin my last Christmas i go on the 24 of December in this Restaurant to celebrate a nice Christmas dinner After we take ours sits thus Restaurant lost the power and a strong smoke fill the restaurant. After 15 min the employees have doing nothing i ask the shift leader and i tell him i can't breve. From the smoke. Hes answer you can leave when you like. I will never go again to this restaurant

The perfect Cuban restaurant on this beautiful Saturday in North Miami, my girlfriend couldn't have picked the perfect Cuban restaurant to come have a wonderful lunch....Little Havana never disappoints in their service and food, everything is so delicious here, I definitely recommend coming to this restaurant if you are in the North Miami area or in Miami period!!!

Arrived in Miami at dinner time and not wanting to arrive while our hosts (friends) were having their dinner we searched for a spot for a light dinner as we had finished a late lunch only a few hours earlier. Found Little Havana and thought, Miami = Cuban Food. In we went. The place is large and decorated with the trophy heads of wild game, mostly deer. A little weird, but, when in Havana. I ordered the Taste of Havana appetizer (pork, chicken, tamales, fried Yuca, croquettes & Maraquitas) not knowing what Maraquitas were. See the photo. My wife ordered the Havana Salad with Chicken. See the photo. Her chicken was very tasty, recommend it highly. The sampler appetizer plate offered tastes I've not had and I admit one did not 'please' my palette but I do not regret trying new things EVER even if they don't work for me. The rest of my appetizer dinner was quite good. On a funny note, my wife ordered a mojito and I ordered a Jameson's on the rocks. They searched and searched and finally presented me with a bottle of Hennessy asking it that was what I wanted. Heh, when in Cuba perhaps don't ask for Irish Whisky LOL... I ordered a Piña Colada as my wife didn't like the mojito (too much mint for her) and we traded drinks. Overall, a fun experience, the food was good, we'd go back but we'd go back much hungrier than we arrived on this visit.

Food to delicious and food came out fast! Our server greeted us immediately and empanadas were out almost in seconds. We also had, fried red snapper, grilled chicken, and fried pork. I would return if in the Miami area again.

After living in Los Angeles for the last 10 years, I'm so happy to have found this place while visiting home. The black beans and rice are muy delicioso! The free bread they bring out before the meal is perfecto! The service is also friendly and quick. You must visit the bathroom while you are here! Beautiful wall paper.

Food and service was really good, the servers were very attentive, polite and friendly. Music was not suitable for a family environment. Every song while I was there had very EXPLICIT content... I can't tell parents what to do, but I will not bring children to hear that kind of language. I told the manager about it. Hopefully they will be sensitive to the needs of families with children.

Been going to Little Havana for a decade now. Some friends came from NYC and they were craving good Cuban food after much disappointment in South Beach. Went for dinner last night and they loved it. They had ropa vieja, black beans, plantains, fried chicken chunks and more. Service was attentive and the dining space is huge - space was plentiful. If you want good Cuban food, stop by.

Honestly didn't come here with many expectations and I'm glad that I didn't. If I could give a half star rating I would probably rate it a 3.5 The decor / aesthetic is definitely dated and gives circa 1970 Cuban/Miami vibes. The food was solid. Our group ordered a variety of dishes which everyone was please with including the Little Havana Steak and the Little Havana Chicken. The food was flavorful and you got your money's worth with the portion sizes. My low review really boils down to service. The waiter was far from friendly and hospitable. Honestly he looked like he didn't want to be there or serve our large party. I also wasn't a fan of being hoodwinked by a "complimentary photo" that I was taxed $25 for. I would've been more open to it if they would've been up front that there would be a cost for a group photo. Overall, if I'm ever in the area again , I'd probably bite the bullet and go somewhere else as there are plenty of Cuban food options in Miami.

The food here was amazing! Just as delicious as it was years back when we visited. Can't beat this place for great Cuban food and excellent service. Loved the sweet plantains, tasty and tender pork shoulder, black beans and rice and everything else we all ordered.

Felt like home The music, the decor, and the ambiance was amazing. We came from CA which is sometimes hard to find anything outside Mexican food so this was a treat. Shoutout to Estefania or Stephanie who was our waitress and was just so kind and accommodating! We ordered so much of the menu and she and the other waiters took care of us. The plátanos maduros and the yuca fritas were sooooo good. Even the papa fritas were better than McDonalds. The tostones were a little big and and the ropa vieja were good but not our favorites. Nonetheless, I can't wait to come back to try more!

First time I visited this place, this is a nice delicious cuban restaurant. The food was delicious and big portions. The shrimp creoles was very tasty with a portion of white rice and maduros. We were a group of 24 snd food came out quick, service was great.

Nice little Cuban place, great food. The yuca cheese balls were absolutely delicious, I'd go back just for that. The service was nice and quick. No complaints!

Really good Cuban food in north Miami , we have been clients fir the past 20 years and it only gets better with time! Service is amazing they treat you like family!!! Ambience is nice family oriented.

One of thee tastiest Cuban Food establishments I have had the pleasure of dining in. Being from So Cal, finding a good let alone great Cuban restaurant to dine in is very scarce. This one met all my expectations which left me wanting to go back for more. The menu was large indeed. Many options to choose from. We ordered the Yucca frita which was served with a slightly spicy but very tasty chimichurri type of dipping sauce. We also ordered the chicken soup, the black bean soup and a few combos that had some type of meat variation. All were delicious indeed. If you want great tasting Cuban food, this is a must STOP place to go visit and eat. You won't be disappointed! Kudos to our waitress who was very attentive and never missed a beat with her phenomenal service. The restaurant itself is actually big and can accommodate large groups if needed. Nothing fabulous but very cozy and chill. End result, it made for a fabulous dining experience overall.

I was recommended to come here by a friend. When I first pulled up I was a little worried. I went about a week ago, and the Halloween decorations in here were insane. There is also a room full of exotic animal mounts, there's a crazy fountain outside, and some of the decor in here made it look like an old Italian restaurant. When I saw all this I was a little worried, but I was already inside and I trust my friend's rec. I ordered the Croquetas and the Vaca Frita. The croquettes came out in less than 2 minutes pipping hot. It was like there was someone in the kitchen listening to me ordering and by the time the waiter brought the cooks the order they were already ready (I know they're pre made but it was still impressive how fast and hot they came out). The Vaca Frita was the best I've had in Miami. The mojo flavor was fantastic. Very crispy and still moist. Highly recommend this place.

I've been to this location several times and over the years it has gotten worse. The food was just ok, nothing I will come back to try again. The service was good but not many bilingual people to speak English, which is understandable since it's a Cuban restaurant. If you're coming for the ambiance don't.

I ordered the beef empanadas for a light dinner and we relay enjoyed them. The dough was a bit mushier and not crispy. But, we had reheated them. I'd definitely get them again. The meat was seasoned just right and the filling was an adequate amount. I would work on how to fry them. So, the empanada would be a bit more crispy.

Sunday Brunch with my Dad and sister. Started off with Yuca cheese and Ham croquettes. 10/10 Main Course Snapper - 10/10 5 Star Plate -10/10 it says good for 2 but I think it's good for 2-4 people who can share. We took it to go because it was a lot . Oxtail- 9/10 it's good however there's something missing on the sauce, it's kinda bland taste. 4 Star because , not so much attentiveness on our table and it was not busy at all. Overall food is good.

Food is always good here! Great value & great taste . Service at lunch time seems to be better and on a weekend. I'll definitely be back.

Omg el carnero aca es el mejor de Miami. Quizas deberian mejorar la calidad del pan, la mayor parte de las veces esta acido. Un amplio menu y buena atencion.

Before I start with this review I'd like to state that I am Cuban and was raised on this food so home cooking is what I'm comparing it too. With that being said, the ambiance is very Cuban with picture of old Cuba and old cars. You even have the rocking chairs to either wait to be seated or help digestion post meal. The servers are friendly and mainly speak Spanish but can also speak "Inglish" if needed. Food is good. You have just about every option available to you. I had the Vaca Frita which is shredded skirt or flank steak boiled then pan fried with onions. It's my go to along with rice and black beans with a side of maduros (fried sweet plantains). Portions are great. I had a hard time finishing everything. Everything was cooked just right. Would recommend if in the area and in the mood for some Cuban food. But remember to leave room for a little cortadito coffee before you leave.
