I love this mom and pop restaurant. They always are warm and welcoming here. It’s an Asian Italian restaurant. Food is good quality here, very early Americana feel to this place. Just good decent food for an okay price. Tonight they really touched my heart when they offered to cut my food up because of my broken hand. It’s the kind of thing I expect when I come here, always welcome, considerate, and well fed. Love this place and the people here

Google
The best place in town! Here are some of my favorite dishes/meals posted below. Little Henry's never seems to disappoint because their quality is unmatched and the food is always delicious! Sally, the owner is also a sweetheart and her staff is just as awesome!Been ordering here every other day since the quarantine and I don't regret it.

Mom and pop joint. I enjoyed my veggie breakfast omelette and my partner thought the Philly mushroom cheesecake was mediocre. Partner thought it was weird to have it served with lettuce, and wished there was an option for Swiss cheese instead. My partner is too picky and difficult to please. I tried the sandwich and it was fine to me. I hope to come back and try other items on the menu.

Sally is the owner and so wonderful! I ordered catering for a Valentine's event at my church and she added tons of extras to our order to make sure everyone was fed and well satisfied. My favorite dish is the Fettuccine Della Casa! Support local!

Staff is very friendly and inviting however I hate to say it but the food could use a lottt of help. This place brings out my inner Gordon Ramsey -- they just need a few tweaks for the prices they are charging. (My pasta was swimming! Lol) I hope this was more constructive than a let down -- I know it's hard to run a good restaurant. Keep up the good work and plz continue to read the reviews 👌

Love this small mom and pop. Been coming here since I was in High school and still coming here 20 years later. Great food, great service, and nice clean place to come to with friends and family.

Google
Food was yummy, tho very different from expected. Should be marketed as Chinese Italian food. Pricey for what you get, we only ordered one entree to share and it was almost $40. It was pretty cold in the restaurant as well, wear a sweater.

Google
I was hoping for an authentic Italian restaurant, but this was not the case. The minestrone soup was very basic. I had the ravioli and meat sauce. The ravioli was good. The meat sauce was very generic. The price was rather high for the quality of the food. Waitress was very prompt, and the food came out hot and quickly. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, this restaurant would be fine, if you’re looking for true quality ethnic Italian food, this is not the place for you.

Yelp
Brings back so many memories! I remember coming here since I was a kids in the early 90s. Still the same original owner. Can't believe they're still around. They must be doing something right! Food was just like what i remembered! very tasty! Complimentary garlic bread was so flavorful! House salad with the house vinaigrette was on point! Let's not forget the star of the show, the baby clam linguine with white creamy sauce. My go to pasta since I was a kid! Restaurant is pretty outdated but it's not about how the restaurant looks. It's the great service and excellent food!

Yelp
Italian food done by Chinese staff. Only in SF! I've been a fan since I was a young man living in the Tendernob neighborhood in the early 90s, so it's all about nostalgia for me. Since the Larkin St location closed, I had to try their Richmond location. I'm happy to report the food has not changed. I recommend the linguine with white clams or Fettuccine Della Casa, which I used to order back in the day. Be forewarned that it is very rich; I remember seeing the containers of half and half in the kitchen. Only thing they're missing is the escargot which they used to have.

Yelp
I really enjoyed their Eggs Florentina. A generous portion of fresh blanched spinach on an english muffin topped with perfectly poached eggs and just the right amount of hollandaise, served with crispy hash browns. It's my go-to there. The place is quiet and the service friendly. This place is a bit pricey overall, but the eggs florentina is one of the least expensive items on the menu, at $18.

Yelp
I ordered the cheese burger and it did not disappoint Cheesy Beefy Salty Greasy Soft bun Diner atmosphere $25 pasta dishes and the usual stuff along with it. Service is friendly JYW recommends

Yelp
Expensive faux Italian Seafood restaurant that has been around 38 years. Located in the Richmond District where parking can be a challenge. Numerous restaurants in a two-three block area. Clean, bright facility with so many pricey food options. They have lunch specials which get you soup, garlic bread, and a entree. Had: - Oxtail Stew with rice (other choice is noodles) with veggies. The sauce was tomato based and tasted like it was out of a can. Four meaty oxtails with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Not memorable for the price. - Clam Vongole over Linguini which tasted mostly of mushroom soup with minced clams. Not sure if the minced clams were fresh or from a can. Conclusion: a neighborhood restaurant that is not knock your socks off and expensive for the quality of the food produced. Very nice woman owner waitperson who checks on you often. Quality of the food likely sacrificed due to the numerous items available.

Yelp
Food served at different times and raw. My (medium) New York steak was practically mooing. The lady was so angry when we asked for it to be taken off the menu that the cook came out and brought us the bill instead. Service and food both suck. I hope for the people of SF that they go out of business.

Yelp
I went here for a friend's birthday and the owner was very friendly. Our friend was offered a free meal as well. The food was great! I got the pesto fettuccine with grilled chicken. I thought it was pricey at first glance but they give large portion sizes. All the entrees come with garlic bread and either a salad or clam chowder. We had plenty of left overs so I had my lunch covered for the next day.

Yelp
My mom was craving for the oxtail stew and as usual, the portion was big and for $25 it comes with soup, garlic bread, pasta with meat sauce, steamed veggie, and the stew. Genuinely a good lunch deal. I am on a diet so I ordered a salad with grilled chicken off the menu. The lady told me it's $22 with lettuce and tomatoes as the basic green. That's very pricey in general, and especially when the side salad charges only $5. But I needed the protein so I ordered it anyway. True to her description, there's only iceberg lettuce, few pieces of Costco spinach, and some tomato slices as veggie. Not even some cucumber, shredded carrots, or onions as embellishments. Then the lady said the price is actually $25. The guy at the table behind us, who came in and ordered his food without the need to look at the menu, came over and praised the salad (I am guessing he is a frequent customer living nearby?). I gave the lady a nasty look and she appeared to be apologetic, as if she knows she is in the wrong but cannot not rip me off. The taste? Mediocre at best, and the food cost of that chicken salad cannot be more than $7. If you want the usual comfort food and continue to support the small businesses in your neighborhood, feel free to return. But I won't. There are plenty of better deals around at a much lower price. Economic soft landing is happening soon, so good luck Little Henry.

Yelp
The service excellent, super clean place place, loved the ice tea, soup was nice, portions huge. Pork chops cooked right but abit greasy, loved main came with pasta and veggies, soup and bread. The pasta sauce with meat was not good. I hope they revisit the sauce recipe. I was hungry so ate most of everything but seriously couldn't even eat half of it. I want to give the place a great review but they need to improve the pasta sauce, remove some of the port chop grease. Maybe cut the menu options back and focus on quality. The prices are $30 per person with a drink but meals quantity is easily for two people so maybe cut portions and lower prices. What do I know. I always want local places to succeed. Will not be back because of the other options in the the area.

Yelp
I've been going, there since I was a kid. So spicy food oh and get the Alfredo. Sally is the bomb. Service is great always cold in there though. But I love it.

Yelp
This is an interesting place. Italian food with Chinese restaurant vibe. The pasta is cold, and taste bad. Costco pre-made pasta is better than this. The cioppnio is fine as the seafood tastes good already. Also, It says crab is in the food, but it is NOT. I will not come back again.

Yelp
This is our local neighborhood diner. People love it or hate it. It's usually packed with kids grabbing to go burgers and fries for lunch...and when schools out believe me I've seen a line out the door for kids wanting these burgers. Me, I really like their lunch special veal parmesan. The service has always been on point, and the veal parmesan is reasonably priced, a good portion, and it's always piping hot which I always appreciate. To be honest I've tried their chicken parmesan, their lasagna, and their pasta dishes, but I always come back to the veal parmesan because I think it's done well. A lot of people like their pasta. But what I'm vouching for, is you guessed it, the veal parmesan! Piping hot, easy to cut through, not chewy, a good helping of pasta, and always that great melted cheese to top it off! Comes with decent complimentary garlic bread and okay soup of the day usually noodle soup but some days salty clay chowder. You can wash the meal down with their fresh squeezed lemonade, which is great, or their Thai iced tea!

Yelp
i ate here with some friends and had fantastic service. was disappointed with them being out of tortellini as that's what i wanted to eat, so i opted for the ravioli and it was delicious. A cup of hot tea was on the house, as well as a bowl of clam chowder and fresh made garlic bread. It tasted fantastic. All of our dishes were well presented, unfortunately I gobbled up since I didn't eat too much earlier The vibe is homey and classic. There are some funny but charming food images. They had two images of the lasagna? Good vibes though

Yelp
Little Henry's has a niche: It's the one restaurant not serving Asian food in a three block radius. Italian on Balboa, well why not? It also had the benefit of being open at an odd hour, before 5. Little Henry's food was better than average and the linguine with clams offered a huge amount of both pasta and seafood. The white sauce wasn't quite right - I think it needed a splash of wine or some acid like lemon juice- and the pasta should've been al dente. A dusting of chopped parsley over the pasta would've gone far to add a pop of flavor (and color) but better than average is where they stop. The salad almost reached the water level with iceberg lettuce and a thin slice of tomato. A pepperoncini, sliced black olive and thin slice of red onion would've been nice. Littler chose better with a meatball sandwich and piping hot (great!) fries and devoured most of the fried calamari appetizer which was crunchy but lacked seasoning. Service was the star with a very attentive waitress who offered refills of ice tea and brought more napkins without my having to ask. The deal is the lunch special that runs until 3pm with full sized entrees off the main menu for $14.95. I'd return for the roast chicken or veal cutlet. Food: 3.65 (with a little nudge it could be 4.25) Service: 4.5 Cleanliness: 3.65 Price: 3.65 - but the quality was there, just a little pricey

Yelp
Just had a really terrible meal. Was supposed to be veal marsala. i'm not sure the meat was really veal; in any case tasteless and greasy. Big portions. Pricey as well. Service ok.

Yelp
I'm so sad this review has to be written. I was a student of Washington and came here weekly with my friends to get the burger lunch special. The cheeseburger was the best thing ever and I had great memories of eating the lunch. So good that I had to come back a decade later to relive my childhood. Now for the review of the new recipe of the burger...the meat was the nastiest thing I ever put in my mouth. The meat was soft and it wasn't beef. It was so gross. I was so disappointed I nearly yacked. Perhaps it was a mixture of pork and beef? It's so disgusting. I felt horrible after ingesting it. There's a reason this place has three stars. Save yourself the trouble and stay clear of this place. Writing this review makes me relive the horrible meat patty.

Yelp
Throwbacks have been my thing lately. The two ESPN 30 for 30 features The Last Dance and Be Water had a big influence on this. In doing my Wednesday errands, I made a point to look for a place to get lunch in the Richmond District around noon. After doing a few searches, I pulled up this longtime neighborhood corner restaurant that I visited back in the '90's. They used to have two locations with a satellite spot on Larkin and Post. Playing on a now defunct North Beach Italian favorite, the Asian founder decided to name this after himself. With an open kitchen, diners can see the chef and cooks prepare their meal, a not so common practice in those days. In looking at their listing, I could have ordered online, but I chose to call them since I had a special order/addition to my meal. I decided to have the linguini Vongole, red sauce and add mushrooms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kjroaS1GBa7gsomg4lDXiA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); wasn't sure whether the online app would accept the mushroom add. I told the lady who answered the phone that I'd be there in about thirty minutes since I would stop in after finishing my errand. My meal came with a choice of soup or salad of which I chose the soup on this rainy afternoon. It turned out to be a chicken minestrone which I enjoyed with the complimentary three garlic bread slices (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=KsccHWkceQsqWxYETa8Pbg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); there were chunks of potato and chicken as well as kidney beans and assortment of diced vegetables and rigatoni. I was not able to enjoy my meal until another thirty minutes as I needed to finish another errand before parking my car and finding a suitable dining spot. I was surprised and appreciated that the soup was still hot. The garlic bread was still slightly warm and made for good dipping into my pasta sauce. The sauce was only okay; I'm not sure whether my mushroom add watered down the flavors but the garlic and tomato sauce felt a little diluted. The portions are pretty generous and, for less the $20.00, it is a pretty good deal considering the amount and variety of food. I was tempted to try their ox tail, but, being lunch, I didn't want to have a food coma to slow my remaining afternoon tasks. The lady who answered the phone greeted me when I picked up my food and cordially asked me whether I wanted salad or soup. I'm glad that I wasn't asked while on the phone as I'm sure the soup would have been cold if she prepacked it; she actually ladled my soup into a medium sized container as I waited. There is a table to act as their counter just inside the entrance with their menu taped on the top next to the hand sanitizer dispensers. 3.5 stars for the food and an added star for the prices, service, and care in preparing my meal.

Yelp
Got a spaghetti with meat sauce and mushrooms to go, staff was very sweet. Food is a generous portion, comes with soup and garlic bread too. I was initially a little shocked by the price but one dish was enough for me + two small children. My daughter keeps asking to go back whenever we pass by, so I'm taking that as a win! Next time I might try eating in, I'm not a fan of the take out plastic container they use.

Yelp
The oxtail stew was amazing!! Service was quick. I plan to come back when I'm in town

Yelp
Love the food here! Mainly go for the oxtail stew because it's my favorite! Just wish we didn't live so far away because this was our go to spot for sure for a delicious oxtail meal!

Dennis N.

Yelp
I came here with my dad and brother because my dad hasn't been here for over 20 years. We came on a friday evening. Place wasn't packed, but decent for friday. When I was looking at the price, I was like . But we went just for my dad. It's a family establishment, so you'll be getting glass plates, I actually used to have these plates in my home... I got the Oxtail Stew and it looked oddly familiar to what my dad would make.. and when i tasted it it legit tasted exactly like what my dad would make. The dish was really good! There was a lot of ox tail carrots and potatoes. The other dishes were okay, my brother got spaghetti and my dad got the cheese steak. As much as it sucks to say, I prolly wouldn't come back because food is expensive (in general) and I have a feeling this place would close within a few years. Same for many restaurants in SF (let's hope that isn't the case though) 5/5 would never come back again, but my review doesn't matter
google avatar

Yelp
First time here. Got the Philly cheesesteak which came with fries, lettuce tomato, pickles and ketchup. The fries were great but the cheesesteak was a little oily and did not have enough steak. Price is $15.
google avatar

Rosalee A.

Yelp
Yesterday while looking for some eats, we stumbled upon this. The lady swore she sells 50 take out plates of oxtail stew everyday. Decided..why not? It actually was good. The stew was similar to tripe stew base with a little sweetness. Enough to interest my filipino tastebuds. Would I come back? Probably not but I walked away with a full belly and grateful to have a meal to begin the day.
google avatar

Jasmine H.

Yelp
It's decent Italian food they have a good chicken parm. Also the philly cheese steak is good, huge portions you would be able to share. I wish service was a little better but other then that it's solid!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! Been eating here for almost 30 years! Best Italian food! Live in LA but always eat here when I go to San Francisco. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. My favorite dish is the seafood pasta. Superb! Must try!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I was initially hesitant to order from here due to the reviews, but I am SO GLAD I DID! I ordered the Linguine Vongole - delicious clam white sauce with perfectly cooked pasta. It was creamy, hot, and delicious with mushrooms and clams! I would order this again. The garlic bread and salad are basic but tasty. The salad was fresh with the good ranch and the garlic bread is a nice baguette - I am so glad my meal comes with both! I also ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice, and it was tasty and refreshing. I'm excited to try more menu items. When I picked up my order, the restaurant smelled GOOD, which is a solid sign.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
I used to come to this place pretty often as a kid, and this place shaped what I knew about Italian food since we rarely ate out so this place is kinda of nostalgic for me. I'm a huge fan of pesto and white sauces. I ordered the house clams linguini and it was pretty good. Wished there was more garlic and a little more depth to the white sauce but overall it hit the spot since I was craving pasta. It was made within 15 minutes and we received it pipping hot which I appreciate. I like that they give you a good amount of clams which tasted fresh and the mushrooms as well. Every entree comes with a side of garlic butter bread and soup or salad. I opted for the soup of the day which was clam chowder! Pretty affordable price for the amount of food you're given! I shared it with my partner and we were both satisfied. Would recommend if you're looking for something fast, hot, and filling!

Yelp
Little Henry a little lacking. Ordered: ravioli, spaghetti, garlic bread and onion rings. Ravioli was good, B+ but the rest a solid C. Maybe they should rename to Little Longer, a/k/a 2Ls as in keep walking a little further to one of the other restaurants in the area. This is my buddy Russel's favorite restaurant but what does that guy know..... Skip it

Tracy F.

Yelp
Went with my family of 4, sat and used the restroom then realized the prices were over $25 for everything, out of my budget. We apologized to the waitress who then started yelling that we only came to use the bathroom and we're not allowed to come back. We were shocked at her awful behavior. We should have known by how empty the place was at noon.
google avatar

Grace I.

Yelp
I like Sally the owner very much and she offered me the best when I requested a vegetarian dish out from her imagination. She's very accommodating of my special requets.

Em Q.

Yelp
Ordered here thru UberEats, it's the nastiest Italian food I've ever had. My mistake for not checking the reviews here on Yelp. But it's clearly why it has 3stars. Never make the same mistake I did!
google avatar

Cesar C.

Yelp
Good service and big portions but way over priced for the quality of food they are serving. Probably the most disappointed I've ever been when dining out.
google avatar

Fred C.

Yelp
We had been here before, but not for some time. The prices seem to be higher than need be, and I had some issues besides price. I had spaghetti and meat balls. This meal includes soup, or salad. I had salad. The salad was VERY sparse, and barley even covered the small plate it was served on. One small slice of tomato with dry center; and no crotons, etc. Dressing was semi-hard in a small plastic portion cup. The main entree was not as hot as it should've been. The other two meals were o.k., but the shrimp dish my wife had was far too much sauce and not enough shrimp. All and all; not a pleasant dining experience. Doubt we'll be back. We don't live in the city but come here once in a while. As I understand it, the owners of this store had the "Little Henry's" at Larkin and Post in S.F. They sold it and then opened this store on Balboa. We went to the Larkin & Post store quite often, but it was sold some time ago. We miss that restaurant a LOT!! Food and prices were much better.
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Way over priced for basic food. I use to come here years ago and it was decent pricing for Italian food. The prices went up and the food still ok. The prices are for a high end Italian place and you get cheated. I ordered the chicken marsala and the cheesecake factory is 5x better and pay $1.00 more over there for better flavor. Never coming back here again. Save your money.
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
Nope Paid $16 for spaghetti and meatballs...which came with a grand total of 3 tiny meatballs and the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. See the attached photo for their side "salad" which was a few iceberg lettuces pieces and a tomato slice. The garlic bread was actually quite good so I'll give them that. My friend got spaghetti and Italian sausage- same sauce just with 2 very poor quality Italian sausages. One bright spot was the service, our waitress was quick and nice. All in all I wouldn't recommend it at all, especially given the prices
google avatar

Yelp
DISCLAIMER: I am basing this review off of service and the rude lady who runs this place. 3 stars at least for taste in their food, but it is not a special place nor is the food special. 0 stars straight up for the lady who runs this restaurant. I AM JUST SO THROWN OFF BY HER. She is definitely rude and everytime i or anyone in general order fries, she does not let me put condiments on it, she complains about me putting condiments yet tries to bribe me to get a meal burger combo etc. Little Henry's is quite over priced as well for their food.
google avatar

Claudia P.

Yelp
Echte chinese italian with decent portions and fair prices. Thr owner lady is friendly and always on the top of her game. The dishes taste somewhat italian but the ingredients are good. Like the view to the street and have mu lunch here once a month. Meetball pasta or chicken parmesan are mu favorite. With the lunch menu it usally comes out around $25. I like their soups too. Filles with local characters and regulars all the time. Not an authentic italian but worth a try.
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Nice little Italian restaurant run by an Asian family making it have an Asian fell.. Some of their linguini dishes are quite good. Regular Italian is good, but not as good Original Joe's, but to be fair, most places aren't that good. They have some nice chicken dishes as well. Their meat lasagna dish is quite good, too. Staff is friendly. It's a nice place to have dinner when I am working late. I work down the street from them.
google avatar

Lena T.

Yelp
The food is filling and the lunch specials are definitely a good combo if you want large portions for a great price. The ox tail stew was a highlight for me but I wish I could say the same about everything else. I do think it is worth a try if you are around the area!
google avatar

Ira S.

Yelp
Went here for breakfast before visiting a friend at the VA Hospital. Sally (the waitress/hostess) was warm and welcoming. She introduced herself and asked my name. Breakfast was excellent and filling. I didn't have to eat again for 10 hours! Restaurant was bright and immaculate. I used to go to the one at Post & Larkin and was disappointed when it closed. I will DEFINITELY return to this one!
google avatar

Melody G.

Yelp
OPEN! Just wanted to let you all know that they are open during the covid-19 shelter in place as of 4/2/20. Italian food at Chinese food prices? Yes please!

Melanie T.

Yelp
I've been going there since I was a little girl. My family and I love going there for their veal cutlet and oxtail stew. Their portions are pretty big. Love that their meals also comes with soup and garlic bread or you can choose salad. The owner and the people who work there are all really nice.

Chris L.

Yelp
Little Henry's has been my spot for years. I still remember asking my mom to get me their famous burger and fries at Little Henry's when I was in elementary school. Been going there all the way until I had to go to college. When I graduated and came back, I randomly made an order on Uber Eats late last year because I haven't had it in so long...and oh my God, it tasted as good as it did back then! Since then I've been ordering delivery and takeout in the past few months just to support them since they're a local business and I do not regret it. I've been trying out their beyond burger (veggie burger) a lot recently and I have become addicted to it. The burger and the onion rings or fries is so friggin' good!!! Like, forreal, I've never been a fan of the beyond burger but I have no regrets trying it out. Another favorite of mine is the ox tail soup which is fire! I also love the spaghetti with garlic bread...never would I have thought I would love garlic bread as much as I do but wow, their garlic bread is amazing. Overall, if you're nearby or are interested please check it out! I am a huge fan and I've become a regular here that I know everybody's name at the restaurant. Shout out to Sally, the owner and Jose, the chef. 10/10 would recommend if you looking for a nice place to order from.

Yelp
We had Little Henry's cater one of our events (seriously, we had a shoestring budget. What do you want us to do? Go to Cassava? So do not judge). Service was very accommodating and they gave us a lot of food so it worked within out budget. The most popular dishes (those that ran out) were the ravioli and spaghetti with mushroom sauce). Food came hot and delicious. This is old school food so don't expect some fancy hipster joint. It also appealed to the people who attended our event (not hipsters).

Yelp
Lots of negativity on this page. clearly these "elites" would not know a good "Italians meal" if it punched them square in the face. Tony "little Henry" Mascrapone is a good man. He is my best friend. They gotta pasta fazoola that's Miama Mia gabbagool in the sky like a hot gravy pie that's a more!!! Eating here is like being on the set of a 1920s gangster film such as "Goodfella" - makes you feel like one of the "wise guys" The Philadelphia Cheese Steak is a prime menu item. Much better than the slop being peddled by those hogs over at eat Americana -- get one of their cheesy steaks and you'll be a swimming wit tha fishes!!!!!!

Yelp
We've been coming here for at least 15 years. We haven't been in awhile but came back just for the clam chowder, ox tail and the cheesesteak sandwich. Didn't disappoint. One of the most flavorful tomato based ox tail stews I've had. The clam chowder is creamy and lots of clams. Choice of pasta or rice. Wish I lived closer to come back soon.

Yelp
Sadly it's far from Italian food but more like Smart and Final prepared with an industrial kitchen. Highly overpriced for the quality but portions were decent but again mid to low grade food. I don't like leaving low reviews however this is one of those times I advise to look elsewhere.
