The food is good, the ambiance is bright and cheerful, and the space is very inviting! There's a parking lot located in the back, so you don't have to fret about where to park, and there's a WHEELCHAIR RAMP to the entrance (which is from the rear of the building). I didn't use the bathroom while I was there, so I didn't check the wheelchair access there, but you can at least get your chair inside the restaurant to dine!
The food is reasonably-priced by Martha's Vineyard standards, which is to say that prices for entrees range from $20-28...very affordable on an island where most other restaurants are more in the $30-40 range!! And the quality of the food is right at the top, too, with fresh ingredients put together in flavorful combinations and healthy serving sizes...this is a restaurant where you can just order an entree and still feel very full at the end of your dinner!
I ordered the Pan Seared Cod with a summer salad of corn, haricot vert (that's "green beans" for us heathens!!!) and roasted tomatoes, with crispy bacon underneath and green goddess dressing, served over mashed potatoes...I asked for the dressing on the side, because it's a garlicky one, and I avoid garlic. Even without any sauce, the dish was absolutely delicious: The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky, tender, well-seasoned...and the mashed potatoes were just what my brain was craving when it first processed the words "mashed potatoes"!!! The beans, corn and tomatoes really gave the dish a very fresh, light, summery flavor, and the bacon offered an irresistible salty crunch! This is a well-balanced dish!!
My parents both ordered the Red Thai Curry Chicken Kebabs, served with vegetables simmered in coconut lime sauce on jasmine rice pilaf. They've had it before and always enjoy it, since the curry is mild and the flavor is well-developed! Even my baby niece enjoyed sharing some of this dish!!
My partner scarfed down the Greek-style Lamb Burger with fresh herbs, on a bun with tomato, grilled eggplant and tzatziki sauce, served with a classic Greek salad on the side. He tossed the tomato and eggplant to the side, as is his preference, but no other morsel was left when he was done!!!
I ordered a glass of the prosecco ($12) and found it to be a lovely pairing with my fish. Most of the other by-the-glass wine options were less expensive, too, which was a nice surprise!
The only downside to our visit was that our blonde, female server was on the grumpy side and kept reminding us that they had a large party coming in an hour and a half after we sat down, so they needed us to vacate our table by then. In fact, when my partner ordered that lamb burger, this nudgy server informed him that she'd "have to check" if that was okay, because the lamb burger takes a little longer to make than the other dishes we'd ordered, and after all, they needed us to leave in an hour and a half! Um, really? Lady, how much longer do you think it takes to cook that lamb burger?????
Overall, though, the rest of the service was fine, and every other employee was friendly and helpful, so I'll definitely be back to this restaurant! If you're on Martha's Vineyard and want a relatively quiet, intimate, comfortable dinner of slightly-upscale, good food at affordable prices, you should absolutely check out Little House!!!
