This review could have been better if not for being exposed to our fill of rudeness from some of the staff. I get very frustrated with rude/unkind people. Haven't we been through enough in this country this past year - can't we just be kind to one another, especially in an eatery? In any case, we wanted to have dinner at a place with a nice patio/with nice, laidback outdoor seating - not too loud, not too crowded. We thought Little Italy would be the perfect venue. My sister went in first to get us a seat, but she was ignored for a while before someone finally acknowledged her and told her it would be an hour before she could be seated. I followed up since the hostess didn't bother to hang around long enough to get a name from my sister or to determine where we would like to be seated. When I went in, it was 10 minutes before I was acknowledged. I was not the only one being "ignored"; there was an older gentleman who had been standing in front of me for a while as well. The frustrating part was that at least five different servers walked past both of us numerous times without even saying so much as "someone will be with you shortly." An older server nearly snapped at a customer regarding how "busy" they were. Sure, the patio was almost full (a few tables were empty), and yes there were customers inside, there were plenty of available tables inside; it was not so busy as to explain why customers weren't at least having the opportunity to sign in upon entering. Of note, there were no fewer than five servers/hostesses hanging around the cash register/hostess area in the front of the restaurant. I had been quite patient and felt the need to speak up. When I was finally able to get someone's attention, I was informed - in a very unpleasant manner by a young, blond female - that they were busy and would get to me, all the while looking down at whatever she was writing (no eye contact at all). At just that moment, a very nice young man came to the rescue and asked where we would like to be seated. I pointed out a table on the patio that had been empty for at least 15 minutes; he said he would get it cleaned up right away so we could be seated. We appreciate him saving the day, so to speak. The waitress assigned to our table was great as well. Perhaps both these persons could be the host/hostess; having an unpleasant demeanor is just distasteful! On to the meal - for appetizers, we ordered mozzarella cheese sticks and fried calamari; for the entrees, we ordered spaghetti with meatballs, chicken cacciatora, shrimp scampi, baked meat shells, and a meat calzone. The appetizers and entrees were spot on; the bread was not as warm as expected, but good all the same; the caesar salad had too much dressing, and the zupa del giorno soup was just ok. All in all, we enjoyed the meal and simply had a nice time (once were got seated). :o)
