Little King - Review - Beacon - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"Editor's note: Little King has ceased its cafe operations. You can still visit the shop, and you can check their Instagram for updates on upcoming food pop-ups and events. Little King feels like a beautifully curated trap designed to make you spend money on a melon chopstick rest or a $200 baguette lamp. You might also find yourself splurging (to a lesser degree) on the cafe’s excellent baked good selection, with options like rye brioche egg buns, black sesame butter mochi cakes, and rhubarb mascarpone tarts. After three hours of walking and staring at shards of glass (excuse us, art) on the ground at Dia Beacon, Little King’s focaccia sandwiches and seasonal banchan are the perfect pick-me-up that’ll keep you from getting too hangry before catching your Metro-North train home." - Clare Lagomarsino

Get everything in the cafe case, but save one of each for me! I could easily be vegan, if everything tasted like the sunchoke focaccia sandwich! Scrumptious! Everything in that glorious display is delicious! The new space refresh looks amazing, btw! It’s how the shop was meant to be! I always enjoy seeing what’s new in the shop and splurging a bit! The staff is rad, to boot!

Lovely shop with a selection of goods for a more mature crowd. If you are looking to put together a gift for a cook in your life you'll be plenty satisfied as well.

Google
Fantastic aesthetic, super friendly staff, amazing hot chocolate, and I wish we didn't eat dessert before coming here because all of their baked goods and food look wonderful! Definitely coming back! The shop in the back is well curated!

Google
This might be my absolute favorite shop in the states. The curation is epic. It’s a queer safe space! Highly recommend to get yourself or a friend a little art piece here! Art for your purse (like a keychain), or art for your home! Thank you for sharing this space with us!

A destination on Main Street Beacon! Whether you need coffee and hand-crafted sustenance, gourmet foods to take home, or uniquely sourced, home-goods, gifts, books, or beauty products Little King has it all. With a cozy cafe’ and specialty foods market plus a gorgeous shop with friendly owners and staff, a wonderful experience!

Google
I’m always in Beacon, but somehow just discovered this shop. I love trying out different skincare and beauty products and this shop had the perfect variety. This shop has a great selection of home items, skincare, children’s items and more. There is something for everyone here! Plus, the sales associates were so kind and helpful. I will definitely be coming back!

Google
One of the best shops on Main Street, very unique home goods with a Japanese design tilt and a few snacks and drinks as well. Also, one of the only places to find Hibi match diffusers!

Yelp
This trinket and homeware store is most definitely that girl. It's got a myriad of serotonin boosters, from your traditional niche candles, to moomin dishware, and even wall furniture as well. I found some of the pieces and things a tad bit overpriced, but can understand why due to the nicheness of the wares here amongst the town itself. The staff were super friendly and everything was so well organized and just an utter joy to peruse through. I couldn't stop myself from squealing with glee and excitement every-time I remarked at something cute. Any normal partner would've been over me by now but thankfully my partner was happy to see how happy I was. They carry things I see from Mogutable here as well, which I was rather surprised at. Lots of Japanese inspired and imported goods, Marimekko, etc. Overall this place is definitely more of a splurge you would treat yourself to now and then or just the perfect place when it comes to getting your friend a special and non-traditional gift. I will be back anytime I'm in town to just check out what's new!

Yelp
We stumbled into Little King in Beacon while looking for some coffee before hiking. It has such a cute and curated selection of home goods, cooking spices/seasons, and other assorted trinkets, many from Japan. I will say things are not cheap, but seem high quality and unique. My personal favorite were these ceramic chopstick holders, and I bought a few vegetable ones as gifts! There was nothing I needed, but everything I wanted! The staff was really friendly and took great care in wrapping the gifts for me. Would recommend if you are in Beacon!

Yelp
A modern Japanese zen-themed store filled with random household products (cookware, beauty, etc). The layout is really spacious and well organized. My favorite part of the store is actually that it has AC and seating. The interior is rather fragrant (think strong ginger/ginseng aroma), so if you're sensitive to smell, you may not want to stay here long. They do sell onigiri (rice balls) in the back of the store, interestingly enough, with various fillings.

Yelp
It has a definite Japanese atmosphere to it. There are the kind of items you would find in ¥100 Store chain and high end Japanese knives. For many of the imported food stuffs you better have your translator ready; because it's all in Japanese! I noticed books, suribachi, lovely shōyu dishes, and other kitchen ware. The store is well laid out and does not have a crowded feeling.

Yelp
If you're looking for a serotonin boost just walking through this little store will give you exactly that. Fun colors with Japanese feels, decor, dishes, kitchen wear, recipe books and more. If you're looking for THEE aesthetic coffee table book you're definitely finding it here. The colorful stapler you never knew you needed. Here. The fun colored tapered candles, here. From kimchi to cute decor, trinket dishes to your favorite plates and glasses, they have all the unique and high end exclusives you don't just run into just anywhere. Of course, be mindful of the requests of this biz, no photos or videos to be taken unauthorized. It's a place where you'll find the perfect gift for just about anyone. A place for inspiration and ideas. So cute and aesthetic and makes me insanely happy thinking about the next time I'll browse in here.

Yelp
I'm a beauty junkie and in passing this spot I noticed a certain brand in the window so my curiosity peaked. Little did I know I would find an item I had been looking for what seemed like ages! Spoke briefly with the manager while at the register and he was nothing but kind. Will be returning here next time I'm visiting!

Yelp
Lil king is a trendy curio, sandwich, treats shop. The staff was no pressure and helpful and answering questions.

Yelp
This place is so good. I love their chai lattes because they actually make their own mixture from scratch. No powders or syrups at all. It's delicious and tastes fresh and much more healthy. Very cute shop as well, lots of cute take homes for people traveling into town for a day trip.

Yelp
Great little shop! Minimalist vibe, bright open space, amazing coffee beverages and unique baked goods. We had an Eccles pastry which I'd never had...currant, nutmeg and allspice filled buttery flaky goodness from Britain. They also had a very tasty looking galette too. The shop has some very nice unique gifts, plates and kitchen gadgets too. Love to come back soon to visit!

Yelp
Little King is a beautifully-curated little shop with home goods, stationery and art supplies, Asian and Asian-American pantry and refrigerated items, and the best focaccia (baked in-house)! This place is a queer Scandinavian design-lover's dream!

Yelp
Damn good coffee, great service, really fun gifts! Nice little shop to stumble into on my way back into the city. I wish I could remember my baristas name but she was fab!

Jen W.

Yelp
What a sweet shop! As a Beacon local I love having a place to pop in and get a nice gift for friends and their baked goods are always a delicious treat. As a chef, I also love the little specialized pantry items like kewpie mayo, lux hot sauces and kimchi-which are hard to find otherwise. Oh and their skincare products!? It's the best of the best in there.

Yelp
What we've all been waiting for in Beacon! I stopped in the other day and its part cafe and part shop. They have a selection of pastries and sandwiches and I loved everything I ate and the quality reminded me of what we would get in the city. The shop carries a lot of brands you can't find in town from homewares, skincare and I love the little trinkets as well. Its playful, but modern and a great addition to town. The owners and everyone who works there is super nice too! I'll be there often whether my wallet likes it or not.

Karen P.

Yelp
Super nice place! Great service and delicious drinks! My favorite one it is a Cold Chai with oat milk! We will be back for sure! So good!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to grab a cup of coffee on Main St. Love the atmosphere and they have an eclectic assortment of things for sale. Only open Thursday-Sunday which isn't unusual for Beacon but hopefully that soon will change.

Yelp
Love it here. Great addition to Main Street. Nicely curated shop. Today we tried the iced coffee and desserts. Very unique and tasty. Looking forward to trying other menu items.

Cecilia S.

Yelp
This place is so cute and the pastries and sandwiches are amazing. In fact, if you don't get there at the right time - they sell out. The home goods store in the back has a tasteful selection of items from all over. Great people who work there as well!
