Where to Find Passover Meals Around Boston | Eater Boston

"Specializing in Jewish treats, the Newton bakery offers Passover-friendly items like macaroons, brownie tortes, a granola-like matzo crunch, and more, with jelly rolls and sponge cakes also available the week ahead of Passover; its regular menu runs through April 20 and the bakery is closed April 21–30 to observe the holiday, and I can pre-order from the bakery’s online menu." - Erika Adams

So cute! The maple latte is really yummy and they have a great espresso blend. Lots of little treats as well. Happy to support a local business!! Will be coming again

Google
Got the Melon Pan, Chocolate Croissant, Iced Matcha Latte, and Iced Latte. The melon pan was really good and I enjoyed the sweet crust. I just wish the inside was a bit more “cloudy”/fluffy (less doughy) like traditional melon pans. The Chocolate Croissant was amazing. Really liked the chocolate filling and the flakiness of the croissant. The matcha latte was pretty good, but a bit too sweet. The coffee in the iced latte was a bit too acidic for my taste. All their baked goods are pretty cheap tho!

This is literally the best coffee in town. I’ve been going once a week for the past two years, and it never disappoints. They also have the best apple cider doughnut in the area, seriously, you have to try it. Everything they make is delicious, and their bread is amazing too, especially the Japanese-style one. The quality, the flavor, and the consistency keep me coming back every single week. Highly recommend!

Google
Came here per recommendation of a friend and I'm deff glad I did! They offer a variety of items, from sweet to savory depending on what you're feeling like. I ordered a chocolate croissant and a corn & cheese roll. The corn & cheese was savory yet a little sweet and it was honestly so good. The chocolate croissant had the the perfect amount of crunch to it. You could tell both items were fresh. I also tried their Maple Latte which I really enjoyed as well. A flavor that paired so nicely which I was not expecting! They have a few tables outside so I got to enjoy my treats here. They also are very allergen sensitive which is a bonus and have a ingredients quick code sign so you can navigate their items, love this!! Check this place out! PS. They aren't open every day, so double check their hours!

Google
Cute little bakery! There’s 2 little two seater tables inside and one inside. I didn’t see anyone sitting, most were just picking up to go. Staff is super friendly and nice, patient with us even though we arrived 10 minutes before closing. They still had customers coming in as we left right before they closed for the day. Since it was later in the day, they were sold out of some items. We ended up getting 2 Matcha lattes, chocolate croissant and corn cheese bun. Matcha lattes tasted pretty good! I just got back from a trip in Japan so not as good as those, could use even more matcha or matcha flavor, but better than the other cafes I’ve tried around here. Corn bun was fine, would order again, did the job. Now chocolate croissant…. Love love love. The flakiness the chocolate the taste, just reallly delicious all around. The customer before us kept talking about it so we thought why not? And so glad we did. Will be back for sure!

Google
This place is the cutest little pastry shop there is. Everything they serve is to die for, and the staff is always extremely friendly. It's hard to recommend just one thing here, but I have to give a special shout out to the beef curry roll for being the only item on the menu I'm not willing to split. It's my beef curry roll, get your own!

The bread at this place is clean and delicious! It's not too sweet, and the balance of flavors is just right. Everyone is very friendly, too. The matcha latte is the best I've had since coming to the US. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love this place!! It's a shame they're only open 3 days a week, but it's definitely worth making the trip. Kinako mochi croissant sounded amazing. While it was solid, it wasn't a must-order. I like their non-croissant pastries more. We tried matcha an pan, blueberry danish, melon pan, and sticky bun. They are all delicious. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and it was super cute! We tried a bunch pastries and they were all pretty good. I liked the chocolate croissant, matcha scone, the pear danish, and the crème pan. Staff was friendly and service was fast. Can't wait to come back and try their drinks too!

Yelp
This place deserves to expand. Hidden gem that has been found. It's only a matter of time before it's big. Don't wait to try this place, cross it off your list now! Fresh, fluffy, and tastes good! 10/10

Yelp
Very nice small shop. Great assortment of pastries and coffees. Greatly prefer to Starbucks, not that that's much of a comparison. Super nice person at the counter. No seating inside but they have two small sidewalk tables.

Yelp
Adorable, tasty, and interesting. Great coffees and teas to mix with perfect pastries. They have signature treats I've never really seen elsewhere, personally. I only wish they were open more. They're right next door to me, and I always check when I have company, but they keep sparser hours than a sitcom RMV. That said, they are located by a lovely park and nice walkway along the Charles, so you can make an excellent morning out of a visit, IF you can catch them.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked ever since I moved, though I kept confusing the dates and times that they're open (for the record, it's Thurs-Sat). Finally the stars aligned and I'm so happy I got to try this place out. It's absolutely worth a spot in any itinerary near Boston and not that far off the highway. I went in with the mentality of needing to come back, so exercised some restraint and only picked two items, the beef curry bun and the peach danish. First off, the bread itself is so chewy and sweet, the mouthfeel definitely brings home that you're eating Asian bread. The portion is on the dainty end but they stuff each pastry with generous amounts of filling. Well-seasoned curry flavor. The peach danish had just the right touch of sweetness. Sad to say, I ate the whole thing without realizing I had fully demolished it. The people working behind the counter are really kind and will help you pick stuff out (they gave the customers in front of me some samples of a drink to help them decide, think it was the butterfly bean limeade). They also have a refrigerated section of desserts (mango cheese bar, earl grey panna cotta) and sandwiches. The area inside is small so they do limit the number of customers but the day I went, there was no line. Street parking available!

Yelp
Super cute shop! We had a peanut butter croissant and a couple coffees and everything was excellent! The staff was happy to tell us more about our croissant too :) Definitely coming back next week!

Yelp
After this bakery was revitalized as Little L, I decided to give it a try. I tried out the fresh strawberry mochi, strawberry cake, azuki milk bun, onion bacon roll, and their iced maple latte. Everything was delicious! Items like the azuki milk bun still match the quality of its predecessor, Koko. New items like the strawberry roll cake was light and not overly sweet. Can't wait to try out their other items!

Yelp
Little L is a small, cute bakery that has quite a collection of savory and sweet pastries! There is not much room so sometimes people are lining out the door, but the staff are fast, making the line move reasonably fast. I bought a banana almond Nutella croissant, beef curry roll, earl grey panna cotta, and azuki milk. I enjoyed each item, but my favorite is the azuki milk. The beef curry roll was not bad. The curry flavor was not bad, but I had better ones elsewhere where the breading was crispier. The earl grey panna cotta was not bad. I liked how prevalent the earl grey flavoring was, but not to the point of being overwhelming. The banana almond Nutella croissant was pretty good. I loved the combination of all these flavors. I most enjoyed the crunchy almond exterior on top of the croissant. The mashed banana combined with Nutella filling was quite generous. The azuki milk was the best. I loved how it was not too sweet and the milk cream filling was light, but fragrant. All in all, I would love to come back to this bakery and try some of their other options!

Yelp
I was so excited to try Little L Bakery after not having had the chance to visit their predecessor, Koko Bakery. We came around 8:30am on a Saturday morning and only one couple was ahead of us and waiting for their drink order. I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk, as well as the curry bun, almond croissant, and sticky bun. The almond croissant was unlike any other almond croissant I had before, as it wasn't super flaky and was on the doughier side. It was delicious and the almond filling was the perfect amount of sweetness. The sticky bun had a nice lamination and the nuts on top added a nice texture. The curry bun I had about an hour later but it still tasted fresh and the curry was super flavorful. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely come back to try out more of their pastries.

Yelp
My favorite bakery! Been visiting since it was Koko, and so absolutely grateful they kept mostly the same menu! Our musts: blueberry scone, blueberry danish, corn & cheese bread, earl grey pudding! Wish they'd open on Sundays & shorten their winter break.

Yelp
Cute little bakery with many delicious options. Always served with a smile. I have tried many of their items and have never been disappointed with any of my choices. My fave is their Azuki milk.

Yelp
Hands down the best bakery in the area. This place was previously Kokos but has since been purchased by new owners and renamed little l. Quality has stayed the same or improved during the change over with the addition of some cute little patio tables and chairs when weather permits. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all delicious. Most of the pastries are very Japanese style and lots of French influences. The blueberry danishes and beef curry buns are favorites. Come early on the weekends for good selection and too avoid the line. Though sometimes chatting with neighbors and petting cute dogs in line is part of the charm.

Yelp
Excellent place - their chocolate croissants are like eating a candy bar with croissant dough surrounding it! They also have corn bun, and a sausage bun (warning, this is more like a hot dog). A real treat in the local area! Pairs well with a sashimi run next door at Sakanaya.

Yelp
This is a very cute Japanese bakery. I love their savory bread and pastries. The kimono mochi danish is one of our favorites and also the corn cheese roll and egg roll are great. Their real grey panda cotta makes a perfect summer afternoon dessert. I tried their new butterfly bean limeade today, the drink came out blue and changed color as you squeeze in the lime juice. Very cool!

Abi V.

Yelp
Finally went to this lovely little bakery over the weekend, after following them on Instagram for a while. There is some outdoor seating, but the bakery is small (and very cute). Everything we bought was delicious - sweet and savoury pastries were both delicious and the drinks were yummy too. I had the butterfly pea limeade, which was a revelation! The man who served us was very friendly. As we were there a little boy came in who must have been a regular because he was greeted enthusiastically by the staff. The interaction was so sweet and made me smile. Will definitely be coming back for friendly vibes and delicious treats!

Yelp
I love this place!! The lime butterfly drink is amazing and I've liked every baked item that I have tried. I wish it was open more days.

Yelp
Stumble upon this little Japanese bakery. Got myself the AZUKI milk which delish. It has a Boston cream filling and red bean inside. The corn cheese Danish wasn't anything special, I felt like it was missing something like a drizzle sauce of some sort. Also got the earl grey panna cotta which tasted like boba tea. Very smooth and silky texture topped with whipped cream. For drink I got the butterfly pea lemonade, I like that it's not too sweet. Squirt in the lemon provided and it will change color from blue to purple drink. Definitely will try other stuff if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Helpful tip: if you like boston cream pies and red bean get the azuki milk. This is a must get for me every time I go. Review: I am so glad that the bakery reopened. I try to go to this bakery once a week. It's unfortunate that they only open 3 days a week. But honestly I don't mind that as it makes my Thursdays and Fridays better. There is usually a line that is out the door but that is coz they only allow like 2 people inside the small shop at a time. Don't worry the line goes fast. If you love Japanese bakery or want to try some definitely try this place out!!!!

Yelp
There are a few very minor differences since Little L took over Koko Bakery (not worth mentioning in detail) since they are expected with management/ownership change. I am truly grateful that the owner of Little L Bakery has taken over Koko Bakery since its closure late last December. I do not wait (longer than 20 minutes) for Any type of food, never mind bakery items. But I can tell you that on the second to last day before Koko Bakery was expected to close, I waited in line for over an hour and a half outside in 22° temperature for my last chance at their items. Why, you may ask. A variety of reasons. The two main ones: 1. Koko Bakery was exceptional in their French-Japanese inspired bakery and other specialty sweet and savory items, incomparable to most in the Boston area. 2. Prices are reasonable for the care, artistry, and no shortcuts time invested into each item they offered. I mention the above because Little L has not in any way compromised or missed the mark in their understanding of culinary excellence, attentive customer service, and reflective ambience. Last Friday, I was in a rush to get to a group gathering of 13 people. I called in at 4pm, not realizing that they close exactly at this time. The owner was incredibly kind to tell me that she would wait for me to arrive 12 minutes later. Im almost certain that she was quite exhausted on a Friday near evening. She received me with a smile and allow me to purchase the items I needed. This type of simple kindness gesture is deeply appreciated and is ultimately what keeps loyal customers like me returning. I wish I had taken pictures before the group Devoured the entire box within minutes. But alas... I was too late.

Yelp
Delightfully delicious A hidden gem as the quality is high and the prices reasonable the pastries are good but my personal favorite is the Earl gray panna cotta. So smooth, sweetened just right with the delicious taste of Earl gray. Just writing about it makes my mouth water. I make special trips just to get this one of a kind dessert.

Shanta P.

Yelp
Adorable bakery with a huge range of mouth watering items. Great stop when commuting to work. Or when out of town friends visit on a Saturday and you want to impress.

Mary S.

Yelp
Loveeeeee this adorable bakery! The azuki milk, red bean mochi, and corn croissant are my favorites. Wish it was open more days!

Yelp
This is a nice little bakery, there products are healthy, and the taste are great, the Ice Matcha are the drink to try.

Yelp
this place is so cute! loved the pastries, they were genuinely so good!! my favs were the kinako mochi danish, cream pan and azuki milk. Can't wait to come back and try more! staff were super friendly and welcoming too!

Yelp
This store has been opened for years and recently shifted its ownership to one of original owners' employee. After going there for more than two years now, their bread has become even better. It's fair to say that their quality are on par with what I had when I was in Japan if not better! ! Go try them out!
google avatar

Dean B.

Yelp
Excellent pastries! The milk custard bean things are amazing. Matcha pudding isn't for everyone, me included. Wish they were open a bit more often, oh well.
google avatar

Zach C.

Yelp
Great food, coffee, and super nice staff. Glad they're open again! Used to be called Koko bakery.

Rudy G.

Yelp
expensive and very mediocre. Got three things and all of them ranged from 2-3 stars. Rounding down because of price.

B W.

Yelp
This is a shame because their baked goods are good but they charge more tax than they should. It is a shame that they get to steal a little here and there from customers and get to profit off of their scam. It leaves a really bad feeling when this happens to me.

Denita S.

Yelp
I made my first visit into the bakery today after seeing it always busy, driving by for two years. I was not disappointed. The service was amazing, such kind individuals. The food did not disappoint either, I ate the most amazing croissant paired with a maple latte. After another look at the case I saw an Onion Bacon Roll and had to also get that. Would absolutely recommend, and will return for sure! I can't add a picture because they didn't last long! Lol

Atena S.

Yelp
Highly recommend this bakery. I've tried most of pastries and coffee/tea. They're very delicious. Every time I go there everything is fresh and daily cooked. Very clean place and everybody work there are very warm, welcoming and friendly.

Arun J.

Yelp
Beautiful little bakery with amazing pastries and some great coffee, highly recommend it!

J H.

Yelp
Cute shop with friendly staff, but very mediocre food. None of the croissants were heated up. Strawberry roll was good but not standout. Overpriced for the food quality.

Christina D.

Yelp
Love this bakery! It's delicious and has a cozy environment! You can't go wrong. Love the red bean bun, the coffee, the azuki milk bun, ...really anything! My son and I visit the bakery every week.

Kristin S.

Yelp
Loved it! Every bit as good as its predecessor, KoKo! We love the an pan and blueberry danish. The cherry danish was new to us and it was excellent.

Erin O.

Yelp
This lovely spot, filled with delicious and creative pastries, warranted my first ever online review. You will find something for every palate here: sweet, savory, French, American, Asian, special treats, and new everyday staples. The staff is friendly and eager to encourage trying something new. The only problem is that I was going to try to cut back on dining out! Well, that can be next year's resolution.
