This was our favourite restaurant/ bar in Luang Prabang, and we dined there twice during our stay (beginning and end). The manager remembered us when we returned and gave us complimentary dessert plus a tour of their yet-to-open craft shop next door. They have an interesting cocktail list, and the dishes combine traditional cooking with contemporary elements, which makes them more refined than other local eateries down the road. Our only complaint was that the dining room is a bit too dark for our liking, so we chose to sit outside during our second visit. This is a must for travellers wanting to try contemporary Laotian food in Luang Prabang.

If you only had the chance to visit one restaurant in Luang Prabang, I‘d send you to this one. We‘ve visited several times and every dish we tried was pretty much perfect, same goes for the drinks! Our favourite was Nem Kao. It is more expensive than other restaurants but absolutely worth the price. Service staff is nice and explains how to eat the dishes, if you‘re unfamiliar with Lao food. If you‘re sensitive to music / loud sound, I‘d recommend sitting on the porch, as the music was rather loud inside.

Fantastic experience for dinner on a Sunday night with soft traditional live music. Insanely tasty food & great atmosphere sitting on the outside patio. It was so nice, that we went again the next day for coffee & snacks. Turns out, the coffee is fantastic as well! Try these dishes: Nam Khao (!), chicken soup, mok nor mai, mok pla

Amazing would be an understatement! We went there twice during our stay in LP because we couldn’t get enough. Top notch drinks, service and their dishes were freshly prepared and cooked. The special sauces on their menu were such a highlight. We ate a lot of their fish and chicken dishes. I would go there again in a heart beat. 10/10

Very nice chill and comfy ambience in this restaurant. Good location along the main street. A good selection of local food. Ordered the Tom Khem which was caramelized pork and pork belly with boiled egg in sweet sauce and galangal broth. It was delicious, would be perfect if it were a little more spicy. Decent service

The service and ambience is excellent but the food was quite average. We enjoyed the pork patties but the Suup Gai was quite bland. The curries do not have a thick soup but were meaty which is something we appreciated. The restaurant charges a 10% service charge and 10% tax which is a very American thing to do in Laos and IMO, very sneaky and unfortunate.

The food is very special, it’s a very fancy restaurant with a lot of local dishes (quite expensive as well). We didn’t like the buffalo skin, it was very chewy and it was in 2 of our dishes so not the best choice. But the Pang Gai curry was really tasty if you don’t eat the chewy buffalo skin. We also didn’t like the Ork Lam curry, it had a lot of special herbs in it. From the funky hot sauces we had Jeow Bong and Jeow Mak Len, the last one was very tasty. The first one it was again the chewy buffalo skin but the sauce was delicious. Total was 570k kip

Love, love the food, drinks, and concept here! We chose Little Lao as our first restaurant in Luang Prabang and couldn’t have made a better choice. The team took such good care of us—special thanks to Took-tee, who kindly showed us around after dinner and explained the story behind the restaurant. We loved it so much we had to come back the last night just for drinks and Joew before leaving. Definitely a must-visit, and we’ll be back for sure on our next trip to LP. The place is always lively and full, so I highly recommend booking in advance.
