This little boba gem is adorable! The little lady working at the counter was very sweet, I felt like she was really trying to provide a good customer experience. She made the drinks perfect--light ice, half sugar, and even remembered to make my Yelp check-in Mango tea in the same fashion. Had the house milk tea, and got the hubs' default lychee tea with popping mango boba. I'm extra picky when it comes to boba texture, and this is very good. Chewy, soft enough, and small enough so that it doesn't get stuck in the straw! Prices are reasonable for this area.
Kakuni buns are hard to find, and these are pretty darn good. I could always use a little more pork belly, but no complaints on taste, for the most part. I'm assuming getting a good sear/crunch on the Kakuni is challenging... there has only been one place that's gotten it like that, for me. But, the cooling effect of the cucumber, the creamy sauce rendez-vous'ing with the fatty pork belly and the soft, squishy Bao bun... it was all there. There's a little perilla leaf (?) in the bun that I thought could do without it, but, it does provide a bite of earthiness to it. And, maybe a tad warmer. Maybe prepare everything else, and slip the pork belly in last? Note, I did prefer the regular buns over the Kim Chee ones.
The gelato flavors are really interesting, they're appealing to me bc they're more subtle combinations, and also many combos that I haven't had before. But, instead of all smack-you-in-the-face, sickly sweet flavors, I like that they have the lighter, more palette-cleansing flavors available, too. Don't worry, sickly sweet is there too, if that's your style. The little lady urged me to come back another time for them, since they make the gelato in-house. Please support this little family-owned business!
