"In the highly competitive Sichuan food scene in Boston, this under-the-radar place has carved out a niche for itself, winning a strong fanbase in its bustling corner of Allston. Unlike the showstopping, over-the-top presentations seen at Mountain House, Little Tao tells an intimate story about Sichuan cuisine by focusing on no-frills home-cooking techniques, which its Chengdu chef Tao Liu has spent three decades honing. Try the house-cured meat and sausages, a local tradition that’s been passed down for generations; or order the Sichuan mom’s pork knuckle soup to warm your heart on a snowy, wintry night." - Nathan Tavares, Valerie Li Stack, Eater Staff

Google
I was surprised when I walked in to get my to go order tonight that the place has been completely renovated. It looked great and the food was even better ! I had the BBQ pork egg foo young, hot and sour soup, cream cheese wontons, fried rice, and spicy chili wontons. Everything was fresh and fabulous ! The guy at the counter was very nice also. I will definitely be returning !

Google
Sesame chicken was so delicious! I am so impressed! The owner is also super sweet! Would definitely go back!

Google
They say they are under new management. Not impressed. I called and ordered the orange chicken with brown rice. They charged me $1.00 for chicken (if I don’t order the chicken, do I just get a container of sauce?) and $2.50 for brown rice. $18 for one entree! Said it would be ready in 10 minutes, took almost a half hour. Chicken was not crispy, several pieces barely coated with orange sauce.

Google
Literally been going there for 25+ years! Moved down to the Springs in 2018, but try and talk wife into Chinese everything we're close, and it usually works! Was not very excited a couple of months ago on two separate visits when I learned you could no longer eat there AND the guy up front seemed bothered by customers, but was overwhelmingly surprised by the change in staff and decor of restaurant! Job well done! Shrimp Egg Foo Young for the win!

Google
I placed an order for delivery this evening from Little Panda. When I received my order, which included sweet and sour pork. The food was delivered in Styrofoam containers. The heat from the sweet and sour melted through the containers. I called the restaurant to let them know and they told me that the Styrofoam has been banned but they are using them to get rid of the containers. I feel that the containers should have been thrown away instead of using them. I'm sure the Executive Director of the Department of Public Health and Environment would definitely fine the restaurant for this issue. I will send pictures of the containers that I received that melted through.

Google
9/30/22-A nice little place. The portions were a good size for the price they charge. Right now they are only doing carry out. The pineapple chicken I had was not overly sweet and the egg roll was yummy. So overall, good food for a good price.

Google
Not good anymore. We used to order from Little Panda a lot but the quality has nosedived. Super greasy, no veggies in anything. The egg rolls were almost inedible. Far too expensive to be this bad. Just go elsewhere.

Lisa Monaco Adams

Google
We just picked up sweet and sour shrimp to go. It was so greasy, it was inedible. Same with the egg roll-should be called a grease roll! The fried rice has zero vegetables. It looks and tastes like white rice with a hint of soy. Awful.

Yelp
I get take out here at noon at least once a week. Great portions and very fresh n hot. Closed on Mondays *** I'll definitely keep returning.

Yelp
Little Panda was just taken over by new owners and they changed the entire menu . Now I don't know about this new menu , but I can tell you this I was given an egg roll that I swear had peanut butter in it and it's a good thing I wasn't allergic cuz there was no warning whatsoever on the menu . I'm afraid they have killed a once fabulous store .

Kayla G.

Yelp
The shrimp fried rice is good. Nice size shrimp enough to feed 6 people. This plate is with extra shrimp but the regular gives you a decent amount of shrimp. The ambience is cool they're remodeling so it's gonna look nice.

JoJo E.

Yelp
You cannot sit inside and enjoy your meal. Not sure if it's under new ownership or what but the customer service is going downhill. The food is really good though. What the heck? I'm really sad to see this little place go under but unless they change, I cannot recommend them. :(

Yelp
Came here to order food and sit for lunch....There is a big sign that says DINE IN OR TAKE OUT. I ordered...had a seat....they bring me the food and tell me that it's not dine in....with 9 available tables and was actually rude about wanting to eat in. These people need to remove the the "DINE IN" if that's not available. Why run a restaurant and not offer people to eat there. Just ridiculous! Look at the response from the owners.....and tell me, I'm the one with a problem....lol What a joke this hole in the wall is. Mind blowing how a business like this can stay in business. Read the owners comments...that should be your first clue.

Yelp
The cashier in the front has little to no patience felt rushed to order and got little to no communication on any deals or best sellers not very happy with my first visit here will not be back

Daylon H.

Yelp
been coming here for two years they have remodel which is very nice and extremely clean look and feel. the staff very pleasant, wait time 15 mins which is reasonable for fresh hot food my order was combination fried rice good quality and portion please check them out

Phillip B.

Yelp
I must admit I'm not too keen on Asian foods but I'll eat anything beef. So I was craving for beef but something different other than a burger. And this little gem hit the spot. The employees there who took my order and made the food was very helpful and courteous as I ordered Beef and pinions and rice. So now I know where to go when I feel like a change.

Jared S.

Yelp
Our food from here was awesome. Especially the mushu pork. The only thing I didn't love was the General Tso, but more so I didn't love the style (was kind of mild), the quality was fine! Was ready for pickup exactly when expected, was hot, good portions, nothing missing. Will definitely get again.

Greg C.

Yelp
hope you read this before you eat there ! i've read all the negative reviews and I believe them all to be true, especially about how rude ,unprofessional, arrogant, ignorant.the individual working the front counter is ,he needs to be replaced and if he's the owner, he should hire somebody and stay at home. (i'm sure he's the one that responds to the negative reviews or his Mommy ) because they never do anything wrong, and tell you to eat elsewhere.(and believe me that's exactly what I'm going to do and suggest you do the same ) I've only been there three times unlike some of the people that were regulars. The food is OK at best

Berta C.

Yelp
Great food!!!! Their egg fooo young is excellent!!! Their rice is great too!!! I will always go back!

Kah L.

Yelp
Love this place and the food. Never an issue . please read the signs about dine in!!! they say it. dont leave a dick review because you cant read. i understand the american level is low but please try. thank you again. Yes I'm able to read . Thank you.

Lauren R.

Yelp
This place is okay if you know what to order. My suggestions through trial and error: Hot & Sour Soup - Not the best I've ever had but a decent flavor and an enjoyable choice. Thai Curry Fried Rice. Delicious! Chicken shrimp and bursting with delicious curry flavor. I order this almost every time. Thai Basil Chicken. Yummy! Spicy and savory and bright with Thai basil flavor. Lo mein. Decent, but super oily.... Jalapeño Shrimp. Spicy and good! Kung Pao Chicken. Spicy and flavorful! Shrimp with lobster sauce. A good solid classic. Beef with Broccoli or Chicken with Broccoli. Another solid classic. Happy Family. I like everything in this but I don't care for the bbq pork. In anything. Not a fan of their appetizers unfortunately egg rolls, spring, rolls, cheese wontons or pork dumplings which is super disappointing because those are my favorites.

Dayana L.

Yelp
Rude, has 0 customer service. Is so rude when you ask questions about their menu. Try to make you feel stupid

Gretchen S.

Yelp
I put order in, asked for fork and napkins, sat at the table to put fork and napkins in bag, guy yells at me that u r not aloud to Eat at place!!!! Geez I was just putting fork in bag!!! Food was ok but I don't like that type of experience when u pay so much for food and drink???

Andre M.

Yelp
Upon walking in, the employees were welcoming and kind. The restaurant seems clean and not so busy. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice and it also came with a spring roll. I also ordered 2 20oz beverages. Altogether, it came out to almost $20 total. So I was expecting the plate to come with big portions at least, I was wrong. Also, they do NOT provide any dine-in service anymore, they ONLY do take-out. However, the food I had was pretty good as well as the service... overall it was okay just didn't meet my expectations.

Dominick F.

Yelp
As I sat down with my food I was briefly kicked out of the establishment, then as I went outside to eat my food I wasn't given a fork or napkins or anything. So I had to go back inside and demand utensils so I could even eat my food, very rude manner will never go back.

Dalton A.

Yelp
Food was excellent.. But the price varied online.. Chicken fried rice and 2 egg rolls for 22$. Delivery was swift; I will order again but will check on the prices.

Mikey M.

Yelp
This place is firee. It's straight to the point take your food and go to everyone hating pls learn to read lol signs have been up for years

Harlee S.

Yelp
Little Panda is always there for you when you need takeout! I have never even been to the restaurant and can't tell you how many times I've ordered from here. The prices are very reasonable and affordable! They have so much food to choose from and it's all pretty good. Delivery doesn't usually take too long and the order is always correct. I love Little Panda!

Felisha G.

Yelp
Food- great! All was so good! Definitely one of my favorite places for food. Price is a little high. Customer service- terrible. The lady that is always there on Saturday night at the cash register is extremely rude. I thought it may have been an off night, but every time I go she's terrible. Our last time there we spent $170 as we had company over, when I got there she said "here you go" and pretty much tossed a box of food at me. I asked for mustard and sweet and sour. She asked "did you order extra?" I told her no, as they typically just give it to us when we get there. There wasn't an option online to order mustard. She said she wouldn't give me any. Seriously!?! She's lucky that I had people at the house, as I was tempted to hand her the box of food back and ask for our $170 refunded. This is the only reason this place won't get 5 stars.

Dave S.

Yelp
Take out only. Seemed expensive as portions are small. The hot and sour soup was dreary, not the best by any means. Greasy and the egg rolls have very little filling. I doubt I will return.

Corinne H.

Yelp
Not sure why we haven't been here in years but stopped in for something quick tonight. Dined in and had super quick and friendly service. Portion sizes were huge and I think I'll have leftovers all week for lunch. I had the mooshu chicken and it was great. Hubs had the pepper steak and really enjoyed it as well. I had a bite but my mooshu was so i stuck with my own dish.

Bee W.

Yelp
Got a grubhub gift card and decided to order from Little Panda. They have good fried rice I remembered and so decided on this restaurant to splurge on. I ordered pork wontons, Hot and sour soup, shrimp fried rice and fried tofu. I thought the fried tofu was by itself but it came with vegetables and sauce poured over it. Delivery took longer than I thought it would but came within the time grubhub predicted. Food was warm and tasty. Would order again.

Hunter A.

Yelp
It's cool and stuff and you know I think there is a little panda in the back making the really good food

Michael P.

Yelp
This restaurant has really gone downhill since it changed ownership over a couple years ago. The big guy at the front counter is really lacking in customer service skills. He messed up my takeout order last week and wouldn't own up to his mistake. I had paid cash as I always do and didn't see the mistake until I got home. He said since I didn't call right away and tell them about the mistake, there was nothing he could do. I told him he just lost a customer then. He said "OK", turned around and walked back toward the kitchen. I've been a paying customer for over a decade and usually spend $15-$20 a week.

Ben V.

Yelp
We wanted to give Little Panda a try after years of just passing it by. It's been here for a while, and when we go by at night, it seems to be pretty busy. It was ok. Nothing real special. We were shorted on a rice on our order, so check your order prior to leaving. Wasn't even worth a call or return trip. It was on par with buffet Chinese food. Portions were good, quality was lacking. We were mostly bummed out because what we paid could have yielded a better product. Especially with Honey Bee across the street. So, not terrible. We probably won't go back. No heat on the hotter dishes, very sweet.

Fabian H.

Yelp
Rudest ppl ever the chick in the front is really rude...went to pick up food she first almost threw the bag of food to my wife hand and when she brought the clip board to sign the payment she then again threw the dam clip board to my wife hand....I mean if you don't like working there we'll find a new job simple

Jasmine S.

Yelp
very polite boy at the front , food was very good nothing wrong with it at all! Definitely recommend though!

Angelique F.

Yelp
Got Mongolian beef with fried rice as take out tonight, and I must say it hit the spot!! I forgot to take a picture but the other one posted in the reviews exactly matched it. Under $10 you have a big plate of fresh & flavorful of chinese food! When they say 10 mins they mean it for pick up! Perfect for quick and cheap but good chinese.

Min K.

Yelp
This place is BOMB. I sometimes come here to get beef lo mein, and their portions are HUGE... and it doesn't matter if it's lunch or dinner size. Their meals will fill you up, no question about it. Their fried rice and lo mein are cooked perfectly, the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing it seems like. The beef is tender and juicy, and the veggies are crispy and tasty! It's a bit on the pricey side for dinners ($11 something) but the portions will make you think that you got what you paid for. Oh and it comes with a giant vegetable egg roll as well, with two different sauces and a soy sauce packet. Mix the fried rice with a bit of sriracha, wash it down with some sprite, you got your self a friggin meal! It's better than Panda Express. It feels more authentic and real. Definitely do come here for some bomb Chinese food.

Justin S.

Yelp
We got a few things tonight. Boneless ribs app, great texture and sweet crust good size portion Mongolian beef, good mix of meat and veggies not very spicy Beef lomein, like the big noodles lots of flavor and the large is a good amount for a few people Sweet and sour chicken, great chicken fried well light and crispy. Unfortunately the sauce was so packed with vinegar it wasn't edible ended up going to the store so my GF could eat it. It is also just three Chicken no veggies or anything. Pork egg rolls, fried nicely good flavor and size. I wish this had been my dinner idea and not hers since the SnS chicken was her pick. Hope they learn to taste test their sauces before serving.

Sean B.

Yelp
Rude very rude, won't take a delivery order early, when you do order 1 hours or longer. The owner hung up on me and now refuses to delivery to my address. Spent alot of money in their restaurant. Zero customer service. Buyer beware!!

Trint L.

Yelp
When we first came here (a year ago), I left a fairly negative tip because my Gen. Tsao was overcooked. Since then we've discovered that Little Panda is the only place in Denver that even knows what Gen. Tsao is! Most places just fry up some frozen battered chicken (like you'd get with sweet & sour) and drizzle on some Tsao-ish sauce. Little Panda gets it right! (And that first, overcooked dish hasn't happened again since.) Still not a fan of their hot sour soup and the Pad Thai is iffy. But everything else we've tried is spot on.

Tal S.

Yelp
I have never been disappointed with the food or the service, they make everything fresh when ordered and the taste is beyond exquisite they truly take pride in their work and it shows; the price is unbelievably low for the quantity and quality you get. Even during the lockdown when most people would make you jump through hoops to order over the phone in advance, they bent the rules a bit so we would not go home hungry. I have never been disapointed the really deserve your buisness.

Nick G.

Yelp
I would give little panda 3 stars normally. The positives are it's local, it's fast(like really fast), and the portions are about right. The food itself is alright. Not exactly the worst and far from the best. The chicken is fatty but crunchy in a dry overcooked way. They pack your entree with crispy bits usually meant for soup I'm assuming for fluff However, their pricing is on par with a 5 star Chinese restaurant. More then $10 per entree, forget spring rolls or egg drop soup. For comparison New China Cafe you can get 2 entrees, a large soup, and 2 orders of crab ragoons all for around $22 with tip where as 1 dinner entree is $12 at little panda. These guys really seem to like their food and you'll have to fork over a pretty penny to get it from them. I will probably keep going here just because of how close it is until I can find a place nearby with more appropriate pricing. I wouldn't mind getting my Chinese fix here if it wasn't so overpriced.

Nahum H.

Yelp
Best egg rolls in town. Especially the vegetarian ones. Great crab Rangoon as well. My go to place for takeout. Highly recommend.

Kirie K.

Yelp
Favorite Chinese restaurant in Colorado. Mostly fit take out. Best fried rice! I'm from Chicago and it's the closest to what I'm used to. I just wish they'd get cantonese pan fried noodles on there menu

Marsha L.

Yelp
Used to LOVE this place! This was my meal tonight (pics included)it was so disappointing. I have only gone twice since the change of ownership. Once right after the change and tonight about two years later. This is something you can make yourself without any culinary experience, go to H-Mart buy most of it frozen and let your 8 yo make it at home for you. Full stop! $60 later....lesson learned

Amy T.

Yelp
This is our neighborhood fast Asian food restaurant. It has recently gotten better with respect to the service and technology which is a welcome change. The service is always very friendly and the food is ready fast! We usually pick up because it's 2 blocks away. We really like their shrimp fried rice, drunken noodles and pad thai, but other things like Mongolian beef, salt and pepper shrimp and cashew chicken are good too. This is not a Thai restaurant but they do a pretty good Thai curry.

David P.

Yelp
I made a big mistake. I accidentally left a bad review of this restaurant. I thought I was reviewing that chain restaurant Panda Express, which is awful. Little Panda is good. I always enjoy their food. It's not an exceptionally great restaurant but it is always good and inexpensive. I recommend Little Panda for local Chinese food. Fast, inexpensive and good. Nice friendly hardworking people.

Karla Y.

Yelp
Locked out AGAIN before closing time. This has happened twice now. The sign on the door clearly stars that they are open until 10:00 pm. I arrived and was at the door at 9:52 pm. The two me just stood inside behind a locked door and waved at me and shook their heads "no". I had eight minutes to place an order according to their sign. Last time I had eleven minutes! If you put a sign on your door stating your busiss is open until 10 pm, stay open and serve your customers until 10 pm!!! Otherwise, change the time to 9:45 pm!!! They have now lost a loyal customer and all my family and friends that I tell. I will also be Facebooking it. That is no way to do business!!!

Patti H.

Yelp
If you like your food delivered 1 1/2 hour late and cold. Twice in two weeks. Rude surly people answering the phone. The snot answering the phone tonite needs to be fired. Last week my spring rolls were cold soggy and the vegs slimy. I really don't know what gives with this place. They go great for a while and then they have a stretch of horrendous service and crappy food.

Jim F.

Yelp
This is my first time here...They are Fantastic!!! I thin the guy here is Steve and he was great! Had there egg drop soup and boy did that hit the spot this winter!!! Just broth, eggs and some green onions, no other veggies in it and it was the BEST! This is a place I will come back to and bring family, friends and client's! Thank you so much!!!

Pete R.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER THE PAD THAI! We like Little Panda for its convenience and Chinese food. Last night we decided to try Pad Thai, since they have a "Thai Special" section on their menu. I called in the order and my wife picked it up on her way home from work. My wife went with her standard Sesame Chicken (which is always good) while I tried the Pork Pad Thai. Now, having spent 6 years of my childhood in Thailand, I know good Pad Thai. This my friends, ended up being some concoction of noodles with Chinese roasted pork, no bean sprouts, a small bit of peanuts and egg, all combined in some sort of pink sauce! Top that off with a couple slices of lemon (not lime) on the side. I went ahead and tried it, and it had little to no taste except for the pork, which had a hint of 5 spice taste. Needless to say, it went into the garbage and we ended us sharing the Sesame Chicken. Bottom line, I don't recommend the Thai menu if they can't get a good basic Pad Thai correct. Go for the Sesame or Kung Pao Chicken...you won't regret those.

Justin L.

Yelp
There Hot and Sour soup is the best!!! Do you like egg rolls, try Little Panda's and order it with there house made hot mustard.

Lisa D.

Yelp
I would having given this place a 0, if that was an option. They my order was wrong and when I called to let them know the lady that took my order blamed me!!! They told me that I couldn't talk to the owner because he was cooking. She told me that they would bring me back the correct item, but I had to give them back all the food. I thought to myself no problem, because the rest of the order was greasy and tasteless. So disappointed. The worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Samantha C.

Yelp
I ordered from my GrubHub app. This was my first order and I am very impressed! I had sesame chicken (which came with rice) and crab and cheese wontons. My order was only a little under $20. I got A LOT of food. I was expecting a little take out box full of food. I got enough chicken and wontons for 2-3 people. They even threw in all the sauces I would (and wouldn't) need. I ordered around 5:50pm. My delivery was scheduled to arrive between 6:50 and 7pm. My doorbell rang at 6:13pm! Hot and ready for me to eat! I will definitely order again!

Scott S.

Yelp
By far the most disgusting and gross restaurant I've ever been in. The food was absolutely pathetic and disgusting. I had a scoop of noodles with chicken and it tasted nothing more than oil and gross. I also ordered one order of the chicken wings that was like chewing on a dog toy with no flavor. I had to wash my hands and the hallway and men's bathroom were absolutely filthy and looked as unhealthy as a place I have ever been in. I took three bites of the noodles and two bites out of the chicken and threw the rest away. Don't waste your time or money on this gross place. I think the health board should be called on them due to how filthy their restaurant is.
