Near Texas Tech, this family-run counter is a student favorite for speedy, budget-friendly Chinese-American comfort—fried rice, lo mein, and orange chicken served hot and fast. Recent reviews confirm steady hours and active operations in 2025.

I like this place. Their food is always hot and fresh. Plus I personally don’t like a ton of garlic and the food isn’t covered in it like most places. Great lunch specials. I really love the lo mein.

Google
Just okay. Very unseasoned bland food. Very nice people but food isn’t great. Ordered shrimp & rice with broccoli…

Google
Terrible service. They are very rude. I needed to go silverware and a bowl or cup for the egg drop soup. I was taking the food to the hospital due to my sister being in there. They refused to give me either of those things i needed. The combo fried rice was very chewy and not fresh. The lemon chicken was overdone and almost burned. Very crunchy. Egg drop soup was maybe the best if the whole meal. Probably will not try this place again.

Google

Google
Sesame chicken and Hunan chicken. Both are delicious!

Google
I can only get this food when I go out of town. I love this place. Food is always good and hot as well as full of flavor...can't wait to go back again

Google
Foods good. Really well done and service is decent. Only complaint is it's a bit expensive, so if your a college student, it's a special occasion or treat.

Nathaniel Bergstrom

Google
Overpriced, but you are on Tech campus. Food good. Not any better or worse than any other carry out Chinese.

Cam V.

Yelp
Straight up booty cheeks literally awful for it being a Chinese spot across the university. You would think it would be good. Honestly panda express is way better. The food was so sugary dipped in so much oil. I couldn't even put my fork through the piece of orange chicken because it was so hard filled with gloss I ordered the orange chicken and they told me if I wanted noodles. It was gonna be an extra four dollars more I mean, what the fuck is that? Me and my roommate went thinking it would be good and authentic. It really made our stomach hurt. I'm really hoping for them to fucking get rid of that place. Thank you. My roommate literally had diarrhea 10 seconds after and threw up in the parking lot all over a Chinese car. Oh my God the only good thing was a good night, fat Chinese ass in there.

Yelp
Inside was basic but clean and had enough seating. They had plenty of items to choose from on the menu, and the food was good and came out quick. The server was polite and took our order with no issues.

Yelp
This place is so fast, so friendly. Cute place to sit inside, but we ordered take out. But the best part is the food! Moving back here from the East, it's been hard to find good Chinese. this place is AMAZING! Lo mein, steamed dumplings, general tso's chicken, and fried rice. Delicious perfection!

Karla H.

Yelp
We like this location. Always get plenty of food. Have never gotten anything bad. Service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
Food is filling and relatively inexpensive. Entrees taste like salt more than anything but sometimes that's just what you need. I LOVE the cheese wontons here. The place is pretty quiet most of the time and the service is polite.

Katie H.

Yelp
Small place lot of to go. Friendly staff. Good prices. Odd to separate out the rice but ok. Egg roll just ok. Good value and general tso chicken. It does get stuck in teeth. The paint color is friendly.

Yelp
BEST CHINESE FOOD IN LUBBOCK! All of our meals were absolutely delicious!! You HAVE to get the cheese wontons they are to die for!! Everything was freshly cooked in a very timely manner!!

Yelp
I am pretty sure this is the same spot I used to hit up when I was going to Texas Tech back in 2002-2004. Is it? I Mt sure looks the same, I remember getting bowls of sesame chicken and I loved it. Well, here is your overdue thanks and appreciation. I haven't been to Lubbock in almost 20 years but those were good times. Looks like Pinocchio Pizza closed down, they had giant pizzas and great calzones.

Yelp
Humble Chinese restaurant next to Texas Tech Univ, on corner of 13th & University Avenue. The dining area has 35 seats, but business seems to be Take-out or Pick-up now. Only 2 workers, they blaze into action upon each order, at least you can hear the kitchen sounds! Moo Goo Gai Pan was good: Various Chinese veggies, chicken breast meat, in a mellow white Cantonese sauce. The fried rice was below Panda Express quality, hmmm. Egg Drop Soup was very good.

Ashley H.

Yelp
It used to be amazing Chinese food for Lubbock, but I dont know what happened, they just went down hill and their food tastes bad now! Gave me food poisoning last time I went and now I won't return.

Yelp
Best orange chicken, ma po tofu, or sesame chicken ive ever had. Their free fried rice that comes with an entree needs some work, but I ain't complaining.

Concerned Reviewer M.

Yelp
VERY DISAPPOINTED. Ordered sweet and sour chicken and spring rolls. Sat at a table int the restaurant. Chicken was in clumps with sweet and sour sauce on the side....No vegetables in the dish. Only steamed rice on the side. VERY EXPENSIVE for the QUALITY of the food. Could not even eat the spring rolls. YUCK. Wasted $14. Decor was run-down and not even 3rd rate. TERRIBLE DECOR, Environment to eat a meal. WILL NEVER RETURN.

Yelp
This place is a real treat. My co-worker whois a chinese born tomd me about this place. Is near the Texas Tech university This place has all the regular menu of New york chinese food. But my friend orderedi in chinese and i got a soup ( noodle) that i had not in many years since i had itat Golden China restaurant in San Jose Blvd. the soup was delicious lits if vegetables, shrimp, pirk and noodles. Spicy and perfect. I been having this soup with my Co-Worker several times. Price is very economic. I tried other dishes and the food is tasteful and excellent flavor. No complaints at all. I will keep coming this place as mong as iam in lubbock. One thing i noticed is that most customers are Asians. That tells you more than any advertisement

Yelp
Straight up awful. For a small, chinese restaurant in a college town, it disappoints to an astounding level. My group of friends and I all decided to go for dinner, and we all ended up with stomach aches. We ordered different bowls of fried rice and they all were awful. I got the chicken fried rice bowl, my girlfriend got the same. We both agreed that our chicken was pretty raw. It felt mushy and cold in a bowl of burning fried rice. A friend got the beef fried rice. He couldn't even pick it up with the fork due to the texture. Once he started eating, he shared it with the rest of us. I couldn't even finish my portion due to how chewy and awful it tasted (it tasted like old, nasty shrimp btw). Afterwards, we felt the strong need to walk down the street to CVS for Gatorades and Topo Chicos because we honest to God felt the need to throw up, so we prepared for it. I also ordered some pork egg rolls. I don't know how or why, but they stayed at a solid insanely hot, inedible temperature well after they were served. When I finally took a bite, it was the greasiest, flavorless egg roll I had ever eaten in my life. Much like the rice, it was just oily, greasy, and flavorless mush. Another friend got a pack of cream cheese wontons or whatever they're called and couldn't even finish them, again, due to how greasy, flavorless, and weird they tasted. Basically, all I'm trying to say at this point is to take the extra 2 minutes of time and go down the road to Gohan's. It's so much better for similar foods. Would not recommend Little Panda to even the worst of people.

Yelp
Really good food best I've had here in Lubbock I really recommend and staff is also very nice

Yelp
For the most part, this restaurant is like any other Americanized Chinese restaurant. The only special thing about it is that the dumplings are made by hand. If you've never had hand made dumplings before, they are so much better than store bought. The only downside to the dumplings is that they are a bit pricey, which makes sense because making dumplings by hand is a lot of work.

Yelp
I so wanted it to be good but, overall, it was not. My entree, the Hunan Chicken was a disappointment. Chicken was chewy and unmarinated, veggies were not caramelized enough, and sauce, while appropriately oily and spicy, lacked flavor. I expected to taste sesame, ginger, garlic, and a bit of sherry. I expected veggies to be stir fried longer for some sweetness instead of the raw, hard to chew bitterness in my dish. I think there might be better dishes to choose from at this restaurant. Another disappointment was the fried rice. It was super plain. Like, just rice. I am used to peas, carrot, and, most importantly egg in the regular fried rice. I have never had Chinese food where the regular fried rice didn't come with these ingredients. It's like when you buy a plane ticket expecting it will cover one piece of luggage, as usual, and then you find out airlines are now charging $50 per bag. Is this the norm for fried rice now or is this place just being really stingy? Some, de minimis, pros: Egg roll was dope, eating space looks pretty clean, and Mountain Dew was a drink option.

Yelp
OVERPRICED. RUDE. BAD FOOD. If I could give this place negative stars I would, the woman in front was coughing on the orders she packaged. SHE PRETENDED LIKE I DIDNT BUY FOOD THERE SO SHE DIDNT HAVE TO REFUND ME. We were recommended to this place looking for decent Chinese food and got cold, hard rice, old chicken and the sauce tasted like they made it on the floor. The service left just of a bad taste in my mouth as the food did. The woman who runs the store is unprofessional, used unlawful language and the place should just down right should be shut down.

Chris K.

Yelp
The orange chicken is wish here was a bigger dining area...but for take out well worth it!

Yelp
I have heard a lot of good things about this place from my coworkers! They all seem to love the food here! It was finally my turn to choose what we were going to have for dinner and I really didn't want to go too far, so I chose to get dinner from Little Panda. I was really surprised my boyfriend was up to trying something new because he is a very picky eater. The inside of the restaurant was not set up very well in my opinion. There were chairs and tables in front of where customers would come up to the counter and order their food. We were waiting in line, standing right behind a guy who was eating and I felt like I was too close to someone trying to enjoy their meal. The pictures on the wall above the counter didn't depict everything that was offered, so when I got to the counter and saw the entire menu I wasn't ready to place my order. It took us about five minutes to decide what we wanted. We decided to do the daily specials since it came with an egg roll and it was a decent price. I chose orange chicken, my boyfriend got the General Tso's chicken, and we both opted for fried rice. My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal, but his chicken was too sweet for my taste. As for my orange chicken, it tasted like I expected and it was delicious! The rice was a little dry for me since I'm use to steamed rice, which is a little softer. I didn't much enjoy the egg roll, too much cabbage for me, but my boyfriend liked it. The service was pretty decent. I think it is a family owned restaurant since there were about three workers and three kids sitting in the corner of the restaurant. The lady didn't speak to us much, but she did thank us when we paid and before we left. We will definitely be returning to try the other dishes I was having trouble deciding between!

Yelp
A few Chinese colleagues recommended me this place so I joined their lunch the other day. It is a typical college-town Chinese restaurant. Cheap, fast, and big lunch. We placed our orders over the counter and the meals were brought to our table promptly. It is a cheap place, so I didn't have much expectation but it was disappointing to see that all the foods were served in the styrofoam containers. Not only it does not look appetizing but it is such a wasteful practice. I ordered Kung Pao chicken but it did not have depth in flavor and was greasy overall. It contained a lot of meat, so maybe that is a plus if one likes to eat a lot of meat. After eating, I was definitely full but in a very unpleasant way. Overall, the food was edible (I have had something worse than this) and the people who work there seem to be nice. Plus, it may be a good place for the hungry students who want to eat a lot under 7 dollars. However, I personally do not think I would return.

Yelp
Great location, and I really like the food. I don't think the employees speak very much English, and I assume that's the source of their perceived rudeness. It's fairly priced, and I always order the Mei Fem with chicken dish. I've been eating here for a couple of years regularly as a white guy, and haven't ever had any issues with racism or credit card theft as some people have complained about. I don't thing many of these reviews are fair. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone that likes Chinese food. They also have a few traditional dishes if you're feeling adventurous!

Francine B.

Yelp
This is my go to place for Chinese food in Lubbock! It's right by campus and every time we order it it's bomb. We always get chicken lo mein and mei fun and sometimes egg rolls. I ask for it extra spicy and they're always happy to do it! PS. I'm pretty picky about Chinese food being half Chinese and being a major foodie! Saw the lower reviews and had to put respect on the name!!!

Yelp
I should have checked reviews before coming to this place. I like my occasional Chinese food from time to time. I figured that this place would become a regular visit for me because of how close it is to my house. Well, I'll probably never eat here again. To start, the employees there are rude and soulless. I felt like I was ordering food from a freakin robot. I immediately felt unwelcomed and was ready to leave. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered something anyways. After all, they could have just been having a bad day. Decided to go with the sesame chicken combo. The food was prepared within 10 minutes, which is good, but then I was told that I can either get an egg roll or a drink. What the hell kind of ultimatum is that? Anyways, the fries rice was the most bland crap I've ever tasted. Like seriously, how do you mess that up? The sesame chicken was 90% crust. Yeah, the portion size is decent, but that doesn't compensate the tasteless crap that they serve here. Save your money and eat at Panda Express or literally ANY other place that serves Chinese food.

Yelp
We have eaten here several times recently while our fridge is out and we are waiting for the new one to be delivered. I really like the hot spicy pork here. Tried the curry pork and wasn't quite as crazy about it. This is a great place for takeout, there are a few tables for dining in but the atmosphere isn't much. As another reviewer pointed out I wish they didn't use styrofoam containers.
google avatar

Brittany F.

Yelp
Prefer this place over Lucky Chen. The food is lnt smothered in sauce and the portions are just as generous. Both times I've eaten here have been delivery orders. My food was delivered within 20 minutes and was fresh both times. Ive had both generals tso and sesame chicken. Both were delicious. Ive also had the fried cheese wontons which could have been better. Good place for a quick bite when craving chinese.

Sandy S.

Yelp
Been a patron here since I was a freshman in college in 2011 and the food and prices are unbeatable. The orange chicken and sweet & sour chicken are my go to. The dining area is always clean and you can tell the kitchen is well-organized and clean as well. The staff is super nice and accompanying to my Mom's special requests. Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant.

Brian E.

Yelp
Great place. I've been here for years. Never fails. Quick. By far the most difficult post, but well worth it.
google avatar

McKenna M.

Yelp
Really not great. Worse than Panda Express and pricier. I got food poisoning and spent most of my time in the restroom last night. Needless to say I will not be back.
google avatar

Gabriel R.

Yelp
Got food poisoning from the beef and steak and unflavored 5 lbs of rice. The seemingly tasteless egg roll that came with it instead of a fortune cookie, was unfortunately the most regrettable part of the dish as I ate it last expecting a fortune cookie to be left at the bottom of the quite pricey mistake I saw in front of me in the form of a bag from Panda Express.
google avatar

Adix B.

Yelp
There are worse "Chinese" restaurants out there - this one is Ok. The portions are huge, the stuff is served piping hot, and I can feed a mess of children on a dime. Yes it is probably Sysco, but at least it's not Lin's Buffet (gag).
google avatar

Lucian G.

Yelp
Expensive and slow. The food wasn't terrible but the price and service is what caused this bad review. They said 45 minutes and it's was almost double that.
google avatar

Samuel T.

Yelp
Horrible food. Went to grab lunch. Ordered chicken fried rice. Chicken wasn't even fully cooked.

Yelp
This has to be the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. To sum up the experience, even most of the airport/food court chinese food I've had the pleasure of eating have brought something better to the table. I didn't visit willingly, trust me. One of my close friends here on campus invited me, and I was excited to try some new asian food. Lately during that time I'd found some new asian food places around Lubbock my self to which I was very pleased with. This wasn't one of them. To begin, the restaurant is located on the strip in front of the university. You'd think this would make it convienient but more than often you either get hit from behind or there are no parking spaces. Anyhow, a 10 year old girl took my order rapidly which amounted to around 15$, I ordered their Lo Mein Noodles and Cheese Wontons. I also was able to get a taste of one of their rice and chicken dishes. The Lo Mein noodles where thick and wet and flavorless. Truly not a combination that you'd enjoy putting in your mouth. I only had three bites before regretting spending the money. I moved on to my Wontons which were dry on the outside and HOT on the inside. The cheese was sour and very cottage like texture. Tasting rancid and I tried to mask it with their sweet and sour sauce. My friend's rice was very very very dry for asian rice, without soy flavor and tasted like it came out of a dehydrated microwaved cup o noodles. The chicken was OK. The breading was very thick in comparison to the chicken to breading ratio. Won't return If I can help it. Panda Express, I pay my respects.

Justin S.

Yelp
The employees were nice and had fast service. It's kind of small inside, but I always ordered to-go so that didn't matter. I think this is my new favorite Chinese spot. The food was actually quite good with big enough portions.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Little Panda. Quick service. Good people. I love the fried dumplings here. As close to authentic in Lubbock as possible.
google avatar

April G.

Yelp
Been here many many times. Always great for take out! Fast affordable. Not spicy and easy to order. Quick to go food! They always over fill their wonton soup with big wontons.
google avatar

Katy B.

Yelp
Okay, so just had the WORST Chinese food experience EVER! Little Panda on University across from Campus. HORRIBLE! The fried pork potstickers have some underlying flavor I cant pinpoint just yet but I only ate half of one and refused to eat the rest of it. The cheese wontons were not good at all and I can usually refer to those as my HAPPY FOOD! So not happy food at Little Panda. The lemon chicken...uh, chicken was hard like a wood plank. The lemon sauce was actually good, but when you cant eat it with the chicken, its pointless. The fried rice..its just rice drowned with some cheap soysauce! The only thing I can finish is the drink cause its a can of coke. ugh...NEVER NEVER NEVER again will I order from Little Panda....HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I hate the fact that I even have to get this place one star they are THIEVES !!!my wife try to order delivery and they over charged her by $15 once she realizes I called back and asked if there was a mistake they said no. They had gone up on their prices by $.30 per plate I asked well that still doesn't make $15 what is going on he offered no excuse and when I told him to cancel the order he hung up on me. I immediately called back and was placed on hold when something woman came on and told me she could not refund my money because the food had already been made I told her I did not want the food in the order was canceled within three minutes. Then she refused to talk to me until I threatened to call the police she took my card information once again and promised me finally that she would reverse the charges they did NOT reverse the charges I had to call my bank and stop payment. What a horrible way to do business I hope this place get shutdown.

Yelp
I was on the way home and looking for something to eat that did not contain meat since it was a Friday during Lent. I was thinking a tuna sandwich from a local sandwich place but was curious about the local chinese place in the vicinity. I came here and looked at the menu and nothing really stood out as the pictures were not on the menu and were above were pretty much everything looked the same. I went for the garlic shrimp and opted for the egg roll instead of the drink and just ordered a drink. After paying $9.90 on a card, I patiently waited about 10-15 minutes for my food. I notice the cooks microwaving a lot of dishes in the nuker and hoped that they were not just resurrecting the left over lunch specials from the day. I got my shrimp and rice and probably the tiniest egg roll ever. The egg roll was pretty lame and I had to ask for sauces to make it decent. The fried rice was super sub par. No vegetables, egg, no flavor, no nothing in it just something that made it brown. I put soy sauce on it to make it edible and place some of my shrimp concoction on it. There were about 8-10 shrimp total in the dish and about a half pound of julienned carrots, onions, bamboo, and some other mystery vegetables that were indistinguishable through the sweet, (no garlicy) brown sauce. Needless to say I will never patronize this place again and have learned a valuable lesson about eating at new places: Stick to basics in small quantities.

Diego C.

Yelp
Good food, good people. The house special fried rice is my go-to. About as good as Chinese takeout gets.

Ingrid A.

Yelp
Every since the moment i laid eyes upon this masterpiece I feel in love with dat general chow kichken.

Tyler D.

Yelp
I can't complain. They have big red, my General Taos chicken was perfect! So crispy and delicious though not as spicy as I hoped. I was a little freaked out by the price at first but it was probably more because an 11 year old took our order...

Angelica O.

Yelp
It's pretty pricey here and there is no buffet. It can be cheap if your used to just a plate. They don't do entrees here and the broccoli and pork doesn't taste too good. The Sweet and sour Chicken Also Has An Odd taste. I wouldn't recommend this place and this is a thumbs down for me. Will not be coming back either.

kelly t.

Yelp
When trying to order for 5 people for delivery, the manager was so extremely rude to our staff that we cancelled our order. He even said "I'm the owner/manager and I am busy, are you almost done?!" While we were trying to place our order!!! I defintely would not order from this place simply because of their rudeness.
