"Nothing can replace dearly departed Little Pete’s in Rittenhouse, but Little Pete’s in the Philadelphian, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, might help scratch that itch. "When Little Pete’s, the long-running Rittenhouse diner, closed last year, it was eulogized by everyone from NPR to photographer Michael Penn. Comedian John Hodgeman posted his Little Pete’s memories on Instagram. Middle Child’s Matthew Cahn got a piece of the floor to hang, framed, in his own restaurant. The diner was even named Eater Philly’s saddest closure of the year in the 2017 Eater Awards." - Rachel Vigoda

Google
Super great people, sat me down right away. Fast service, food took about 10 min to come. Everything was fresh and hot! Loved the burger, its incredibly good, fries as well. If your visiting Philly defiantly come back, food is relatively cheap at about $15 a plate. Super clean and bathrooms in the back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
I had a really nice time dining alone at Little Pete's. I had my first authentic Philly Cheesesteak. Although I have nothing to compare it to, it was amazing. Nice crust on the bun, moist meat etc. Cathy was very friendly and I appreciated the conversation as well.

Google
Good spot for a Saturday brunch. I got the Monte Cristo sandwich which had really good sliced turkey. The ambience was great: very traditional diner but the service was a tad slow. It was a busy, rainy Saturday brunch so I don’t fault them! Besides that the menu was expansive and the location ideal for taking a break from all the surrounding museums.

Google
The best food and service I’ve had in a while. We had a local waitress who looked after us so well. Food was also amazing, I had a full menu with a soup and a salad, a drink and desert. I recommend the tuna steak, absolutely mouth watering

Always Love Thy Atmosphere

Google
Little Pete's food was great - "Philly Diner Style" - We had the chicken wrap lunch special. It came with a choice of soup, fries, and a drink. The wrap was big, enough for the two of us to split. The waitress let us share and didn't charge extra, since we didn't request a second plate. The waitress said they make all the food fresh, starting at 3:30 AM every morning. We were impressed. We will be back!

Google
Great cafe in Philly. Our server, Kathy, was amazing! Potatoes a little dry. But a good experience

Google
The food tastes good. I love their calamari and philly cheesesteak... good service too by their staff.. Nice restaurant to eat when in Philly

Google
Philly cheesesteak 100 the service was excellent. Service was superior, super nice very friendly. The food was excellent and yes, yes Philly steak and cheese with my Thanksgiving dinner. I will be trying to get back over there again. I am in the city for four days on business.

Yelp
Little Pete's is a Philly mainstay that I'm so glad to have discovered this year. I've been here a few times at this point, so I can summarize the good and the bad. The good starts off with the service. If Christina is your server, consider yourself lucky. She's awesome. The cocktails at Little Pete's are good and strong. As far as the food goes, the fried seafood is the highlight. The fried shrimp, flounder, and scallops are outstanding. I consider myself a shrimp connoisseur, and the shrimp here and big and juicy and perfectly fried. As far as appetizers go, the chicken fingers are my favorite. They are more like small chicken cutlets than "fingers". They are always fried well, and you will get enough to take a couple home. As far as sides go, you can get a good salad and good roasted potatoes or a baked potato. The potato salad is middle of the road. The cakes are bakery quality. The carrot cake and the chocolate cake are my favorites. They don't skimp on the size of the slices. Now that I've talked about the good, there are a couple of missteps that prevent me from giving Little Pete's five stars. The optional bread service is hit or miss. Sometimes the bread is better than at other times. The crab cake is nothing but filler. And the mac & cheese is simply macaroni with melted cheese poured on top. I really don't understand what the kitchen is doing when it comes to the mac & cheese. As long as you stick to the items I have highlighted, you will have a great meal at Little Pete's. The menu is extensive and I will be back to sample more of it. I wish there were more old school diners done well like Little Pete's.

Yelp
I was looking for a quick breakfast for my last day in Philadelphia, and I found Little Pete's conveniently right near the Museum of Art. I walked in and got seated right away. The crowd runs older, but it was a lively atmosphere. The server was friendly and no-nonsense. I ordered the eggs and scrapple which came with home fries and toast. I hadn't tried scrapple before, but she told me it was a Philly Philly thing, so i decided to give it a go. Because it's vacation, I also had a screwdriver on the side (yes, they have a full bar!) The food arrived, and the portions were generous. The scrapple was fried golden brown and was crispy on the outside. The seasoning was really good, but the texture inside was a little mushy like a patè (it's kindof like a sausage made with ground pork scraps, spices and cornmeal). To be honest, it wasn't my favorite breakfast protein, but I am glad I had the opportunity to try it. The potatoes were a little dry and the eggs were cooked well. Overall, breakfast was a good experience here. The pricing was reasonable for both the food and drinks, and the location makes it a good place to eat before seeing the art museum and the Rocky steps.

Yelp
Stopped by on Monday and got the Sausage and Eggs special for 12.95 which I think is great value. I mean just look at the sheer amount they pile on. Comes with coffee as well. Taste wise, typical diner fare, pretty decent. Service is as expected, very quick and reasonably friendly. Not too much seating but wasn't busy on a Monday. Great place all around. (come for the specials)

Suzette D.

Yelp
As a tourist, finding local restaurants is a must. The hamburger, fries, and beer were everything I needed, and Angela the server was not only attentive, but she was funny! I'll definitely go back the next time I visit Philadelphia. Thanks, Little Pete's.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Every single thing on this menu is good. Last time we went I got pasta with chicken, feta, tomatoes - amazing!

Michelle V.

Yelp
The food is amazing for breakfast and brunch. We haven't been there for dinner yet but it looks nice. The service is quick and great

Lauren W.

Yelp
Typical casual diner spot, right by the art museum. Easy to get to. Fast paced feel, but not rushed. Ordered 2 eggs, sausage, rye, and hash browns - All of it was good. Great breakfast overall. 10/10.

Savannah W.

Yelp
This was the perfect post-New Year's meal after a late night out. Usually I am skeptical of diners, but my omelette was made perfectly to order, the home potatoes were nice and crisp, and the bacon was crunchy like i like it. It was a very small place, which made it hard to get comfy and communicate with our waitress, BUT they were able to accommodate our 6-person party within less than 5 minutes despite being jam packed that day. For that, I am very impressed with the service and even more impressed by how satisfied i was with the food.

Mike F.

Yelp
For start- the menu is huge!! If you want it they got it. It was def busy but the service was good. Of course she recommended the cheesesteak but I wanted something different. The French Onion soup was delicious. The cheese golden brown but the crouton could have been crunchier but still tasty! The eggs Benedict is so tasty- the home fries were scalloped. The hollandaise sauce was plentiful and the egg oozed!! Yummy!! If u are here in Philly this is the place to be!

Mayra M.

Yelp
My husband found this spot on google and we decided to give a try for breakfast. It's our first time visiting PA and the people were welcoming and so nice. The home fries hit the spot! I got the ham and cheese omelet and my husband got the sausage and eggs/home fries plate. Everything was delicious and arrived quick. The ambience was nice, clean and you can tell a lot of locals go here.

Claudia E.

Yelp
We had a very long layover in Philly and we wanted to take advantage and hit some must-sees in the city. We started our day by the art museum, and we were looking for a nice breakfast place. After much research, this place seemed to be beloved by the locals, with unique offerings, and with a convenient location. I'm glad we stopped in! We were able to get seated right away outside. We didn't get a good look at the inside, but it seemed bustling. They have a cute patio outside where you can relax and wait for puppies to walk by. We ordered the fish for two platter, wanting to try as much as we could. The platter came with a bunch of veggies and a bagel for each of us, as well as the different types of fish. The fish tasted good, it seemed to be high quality but I am not sure I would order this again for breakfast, as it was a little tough on our unaccustomed stomachs. But if you're a connoisseur, I'm certain that you will love this! Overall we had a really nice experience, and I would certainly like to come back and try some of the other menu items.

Michael D.

Yelp
I can't speak for the food, but the service completely sucked. it wasn't very crowded, but they sat us down and promptly ignored us. Locals would come in and they would receive service and we were just sitting there fuming. There are plenty of other places around so we got up and left.

Yelp
5 stars for the food, 10 stars for our waitress, Cathy. If you've ever seen a movie about an old school diner with a sassy waitress with a heart of gold and you wish you could be transported to that time, come to Little Pete's and ask for Cathy. Really cannot say enough about her or how fantastic the rest of the staff was. They opened up the garden seating just so we could eat outdoors, though we were the only ones out there. The Philly cheese steak, though done with provolone and not the traditional cheese wiz, was excellent and came with a side of super crispy fries. Their lunch special deal is an amazing value as you also get a soup and a drink. This was more than enough to split between two people. My only criticism would be that the coffee here is pretty bad, so order anything else to drink, but otherwise everything is great. Wheelchair access details: you can enter through the condo building and go through the inside, which has a flat entrance, or enter from the street on the other side of the building via a ramp that goes right to the restaurant's garden terrace. I didn't use the restroom so can't comment on accessibility. The garden area is spacious and the tables are wheelchair accessible.

Gloria E.

Yelp
Living in the neighborhood, I've had some great breakfast and brunch times here. While they have a bunch of construction, the entry through the building is open but the Fairmount entry has been closed off. Enjoyed their Southwest wrap, eggs, bacon, burger, and they have a full bar!

James W.

Yelp
Lettuce a bit much Anchovy doesn't really get along well with the sandwich (my bad) Totally Enough for a lunch though. Forgot to tip...really sorry

Deborah C.

Yelp
Good diner style food and friendly service. Convenient to the museum. There is outdoor seating, weather permitting.

Paul S.

Yelp
Great value; top quality at reasonble price. Anybody will see the reason the place enjoys a large loyal following. The place is a mainstay of the Greek community with the bar business reflecting the position in the community.

Rachel F.

Yelp
Little Pete's feels like a true gem - an affordable, delicious place to eat with funny servers and dedicated regulars. The atmosphere feels homey and familiar. Others in my group were so pleased by the range of options, some of which can be harder to find these days like salami and eggs. I enjoyed the French toast, home fries, and an everything bagel. Just a carby, yummy meal! Will be excited to return and continue to try their amazing selection.

Ellie A.

Yelp
best diner in philly. the staff is attentive. the servings are huge. food tastes very good. it's cute and quaint. don't forget to look at the specials too! it comes with soup or salad, a dessert and a drink!

Steve P.

Yelp
After visiting the Museum of Art, we walked a short distance to find this place. The menu is extremely long including breakfast , sandwiches, and entrees. The roast pork sandwich was excellent: flavorful and moist served on a soft long roll with a nice crust. The corned beef and slaw was also excellent: very lean and again great bread. Another in the group got crab cakes and while they looked amazing when they arrived, finding crab inside was hard. Stick with the sandwiches and breakfast and you won't be disappointed.

Bebe K.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood spot, lots of "regulars ", relaxed setting. Have only been for breakfast so far. The food is traditional "diner" fare, served hot, in good sized portions. Daily specials at reasonable prices. Egg/cheese/breakfast meat sandwich on a roll is a bargain at $5-6.

Maria C.

Yelp
Great place to eat!! The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food is extremely fresh. We ordered a chicken philly and steak philly and they were delicious. I would've added more veggies but realized that on the last bite. My daughter had the spaghetti and meat ball and said it was delicious and the kids meal where super fresh. I couldn't help my self but had to steal chicken from my daughters fried chicken breast it was delicious!! Definitely everything is made fresh and with great seasoning! Would definitely come back. Oh!! And you have to try the pickles!

Scott J.

Yelp
Little Pete's rules. They make everything, which food-based reality television shows have taught me is dangerous. Pete's gets it done. The menu and specials are vast and varied and they're all excellent. Linguini with clams, breakfast, soups, a big-ass hoagie and dessert. The servers are fast and friendly. There's a hustle with kindness. Even the kids chicken fingers (a plank, really) leftovers I took home, sliced and heated the next day with soy sauce, made a delicious and convincing chicken katsu. I would eat here 3 days a week if I lived in the building.

Benjamin S.

Yelp
Little Pete's is a dying downtown Philly staple...the classic Diner! Been coming here for years, every single time we come up from Orlando, raised my kids at the one on 17th that closed down and now this one beside the Museum. They've always treated us and everyone like true family, the food is always just perfect and the prices are super reasonable! I hope this place lives forever! My favorite Eggs Benedict ever! Classic Philly Cheese Steak would compete with anyone who knows what a real, non-touristy, Steak should taste like. I mean everything is so good I never know what to order! Pete is still there and this place has his love all over it! Pete is not trying to get on TV or some random list....he loves his customers, employees and great Philly classics!

Brian B.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the ground floor level of The Philadelphian. I never would have found this great little diner without Yelp. Meals come with soup and a drink. I had a delicious platter of eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti. It was smothered in cheese. Our server was friendly and attentive. There is a full bar. We liked that they have unobtrusive plexiglass shields that separate the tables. The pandemic maybe 'over' but Covid isn't gone.

David L.

Yelp
We stopped here for breakfast before heading down to LFF for an Eagles game. I had been here a few times before when I lived in the neighborhood. I like that this place is essentially an old school diner but right I the middle of Philly (in fact, it's right on Fairmount Ave). I got Oatmeal, which is admittedly a weird choice at a greasy-spoon style diner, and it was mediocre. My girlfriend got eggs and bacon and toast which was a much better choice. They also have unlimited, diner-style, coffee which is always pretty good. With that being said, their menu is huge and you can probably get whatever you want here. If you are local, this is a great go-to breakfast spot that seemingly always has room for you. I have even worked there on my laptop occasionally. However, if you are just visiting, there are much more exciting places to try in this neighborhood.

Myra R.

Yelp
best lunch special in all of Philadelphia...delicious homemade soup, wonderful salads and sandwiches and awesome servers !!!

Bob J.

Yelp
I liked this place. It's very large and has a nice ambiance. Plenty of space. Food was very good. I would definitely return. Service was very attentive and friendly. Very good breakfast.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
My Go To Place! I order from Pete's a couple of times a week. The food is always good!! I've never had a bad meal there!! Thanks to Pete and his whole colorful crew- LOVE YOU

Mubarak A.

Yelp
Great selection of diner classics, & our server Kathy was amazing! Will be back for sure!

Ian K.

Yelp
Open and ready for business. Quick and easy service all around. We were in and out within 45 minutes. Ate outside under the tent they have going. I must say the crowd was older and an older gentlemen had an "accident." I hope he was okay as an ambulance came to snag him. Wishing him well. What we snagged: -Triple decker corned beef sandwich. Very greasy meat and nicely toasted wheat bread. Came with chips! -Greek Wrap. Said it came with feta cheese, however it had goat cheese. The wife didn't eat it and shared with others. At least tell us that you don't have feta! All good though. -Turkey Wrap. Large and in charge. Great taste. -Side of crispy fries. Very nice and hot like the summer sun. Overall, great experience. If anyone wants a quick bite outside, Pete's is your joint.

Angie B.

Yelp
What is more iconic in the city of Philadelphia than Little Pete's? Well, probably the Little Pete's in center city that closed down in 2017. I had many late night bites there when I was younger and doing "late-night-things" and was sad, like most in this fair city to see it go. However, there is still the option of Little Pete's in Fairmount. One can dine in the spacious and sunny outside dining space with big blue umbrellas or enjoy your food inside. Great breakfast staples. On this morning, I had over -easy eggs, toast, sausage, potatoes with peppers onions and bottomless coffee. My kid enjoyed strawberry French toast. We munched our breakfast, enjoyed great service and my daughter endured me telling the stories of my late night dinners at Little Pete's in center city. This is a Philly institution so if you want a taste of the city (big sandwiches, classic breakfast and big salads) for old times sake, come here.

Michael S.

Yelp
Great service, amazing food, and the most comfortable place, hidden gem. Must try I got exactly what I hoped for would recommend to all visitors and locals who don't know

Jeff ..

Yelp
Best restaurant around. If you wanna escape drama and eat some great food this is your place !

Sarah B.

Yelp
Breakfast lunch and dinner plus a full bar- Little Pete's is really something for everyone- inside or outside. It is a neighborhood gem.

Tracy B.

Yelp
Im torn on stars for this place, the service was Meh, kinda like you would expect from a late night place with people who hate their jobs and all around hate people, but it worked - if that makes any sense. First time here so I didnt know where to go & followed the woman walking in front of me in the door (turns out I went in the wrong door, and from that point on, EVERYONE stared at us and then was like " You came in the wrong door" - Shit I get it, but I just followed the person in front of me in)! So yeah that kinda started the experience off, wasnt feeling too welcome, took us about 15 mins to sit (there was a party of 17 ahead of us). Then when finally seated, I got the looks from our waitress as if I should have known what I wanted before my ass even hit the seat! Sorry, I have 2 young pick children and my Elderly mother with me, I needed to read some stuff. Had been mentioning I wanted to try Eggs Benedict (up until this meal, I had never had them - something about Hollandaise scared me, IDK, It just did) so I got those, the kids got standard things, food was fairly fast. Really good Bloody! The EB was quite literally the best thing I have ever tasted and at this moment I was soo mad I waited soo long to try them. Now the 4 stars is because since then I have tried them everywhere Ive been if they are on the menu and NONE OF THEM compare to this location, something about the sauce or being that it was my first, its all nostalgic, again IDK. But yeah I really want to hate this place because I felt soo rushed, unwelcomed & everything my son ordered (Donut, Muffin - was all out and they didnt have anything) But in the back of my mind I cant stop thinking about that damn plate! I will def be back when in Philly! But ooh yeah one point, skip the french toast, I make better at home, they were just blah berries on cold toast!

Josh W.

Yelp
Great local diner with fast service! Authentic east coast diner experience! You must visit!

Lin K.

Yelp
Little Pete's is the best possible version of a homey diner located in a hard-to-find space inside an apartment building. Servers were sweet and highly accommodating. Food was delicious, and the portions were huge. I had an omelette with more veggies than most salads. Breakfast potatoes were perfectly crisp. Greek salad was fabulous. Gyro was in a big soft puffy pita with TONS of tender meat. We didn't have dessert but it's obvious that their pies are very popular. It's definitely worth the effort to find Little Pete's!

Tanya O.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the coffee was good too. It's super close to the Museum of Art and we were looking for a quick brunch before checking out the museum. We were very happy with this choice. Service was fast and the food was great.

Bruce K.

Yelp
Cute little diner that is not far from the Philadelphia Art Museum, I was able to get a late breakfast here with no trouble. Good coffee and a spinach omelette from a friendly and hustling waitress that took good care of me. This place has a bunch of regulars. Two separate single gentlemen sat in her section and she never even had to ask for their order, she placed a bowl of chili in front of one and a BLT in front of the other. Decent prices for a big meal. No fancy but yum. [Review 10378 overall, 144 of 2019.]

Michelle P.

Yelp
Little Pete's was a go-to prior to the pandemic and is now my go-to lifesaver. I don't even know how many times I've gotten delivery from them the past few months, and I will continue to support them as long as I can. I usually customize an omelette: turkey bacon, American cheese and broccoli with mashed potatoes instead of home fries (or French fries later in the day). Did I mention they serve breakfast all day? It doesn't get much better than that. The other day I was feeling ambitious and also added the Manhattan clam chowder and a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese came with a pickle and bag of chips. I can't close out this review without mentioning their awesome staff. The staff who answers the phone is always polite and friendly. The delivery is always quick and the food comes hot. During this season of gratitude, I want to publicly declare how grateful I am for Little Pete's.

Florence T.

Yelp
Cute place near the museum. The Ruben was a show stopper, great size for sharing! The waitress was nice and attentive. I would recommend!

Julie D.

Yelp
I love this place. Used to live nearby and went there often. We had a great experience there and had a fabulous server.

Ed G.

Yelp
This is most horrible food I even eat( precooked home fries dropped on hot plate (!) . Omelette so dry-you can't eat without water. Service... they don't give f... it all. Rude. They hate you before you enter the door.

Mary Jo R.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my friend and it was such an enjoyable experience! I have actually lived in Fairmount for almost two years and just went for the first time last month. Don't know what took me so long! We both ordered two eggs which came with bacon/sausage and home fries--I had turkey bacon (love that they have this option) and my friend had regular bacon. The home fries were delicious. We also ordered mimosas--you are given a mini-bottle of champagne so you can make more than one drink out of it. Service was great and I really like the outdoor set up. Will definitely be back!

Myron K.

Yelp
My favorite thing about this diner, besides the food, is that it's not fancy and there's zero fuss. Any restaurant you go to anymore needs to deliver an experience--which, fine, great--but in most places I never feel like I can relax and just enjoy everyday food like I can here. Sometimes service is slow if there's one server working or something like that, but it hardly matters to me because I'm so relieved the wait staff is human. And the service is good when it comes. Breakfast food is one of my favorite things in this world and Little Pete's has the complete, traditional morning roster any time of day. Also I tried rice pudding Pete made himself and it was the best rice pudding I ever had.

KhanhMy V.

Yelp
When you don't know where to go or what to eat. Or it's a Monday and some places are closed for some reasons. It's my go to spot for something quick. Sometimes, I'm here in the morning before work or I ordered out for lunch. It's a diner. And so I like the variety of food choices and a large menu to choose from. As always it's nice to just get eggs, sausages, bacon and toasts. Hehe. Overall, it's a good spot to dine and most of the food are delicious.

Karen F.

Yelp
Cathy, our sassy server, was a delight. She is a pro and has been here for about 6 years. We sat in their outdoor "Covid Tent" on a busy Sunday morning at 11. We got a table for 4 right away and juice/coffee/tea. The eggs Florentine are terrific but they come with cheese. Next time I will skip it and also get the copious amount of hollandaise sauce on the side. A calorie/fat bomb for sure. Too about 1/3 of it home. Now I need a nap...

Annamaria B.

Yelp
I really liked this diner. It's tucked away in another facility so you may think you're heading in the wrong direction but it's there so keep going. We walked in and were seated quickly. We were quick to decide what we wanted. Yes I went with creamed chipped beef. This was better than the last diner I had it in around the area. The mimosas were cute. They brought you a mini bottle of champagne where you got a couple out of it. The server was very prompt. The decor was traditional diner style. They even had a little outdoor patio. This is a very good choice for a diner in Philly.
