The 6 Best Banh Mi Sandwiches In Miami

"North Miami Beach’s Little Saigon makes a solid, very affordable bánh mì that does the job just fine if you’re craving a straightforward bánh mì. Options are limited to chicken or pork. You also might not see bánh mì on the menu at all, but they have them so ask your server. Pork is the move—the thin strips of grilled pork have a really nice flavor. And the herbs, veggies, and sliced jalapeño are all crunchy and fresh. This is a good to-go option, and it’ll get all steamed and soft as it patiently waits in your passenger seat." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

I’m going to preface this by saying I lived in Thailand for 5 years, and visited Vietnam 2x. I ran the chefs table at #1 in Asia , 2 Michelin stars for 4 years. I’m a purest with Asian cuisine, and this place is phenomenal. All the food is super fresh, the flavors are bright, zingy and authentic. This is the only real Vietnamese in Miami. There are others that are ok at best but none authentic. The lady who served us is the one who’s always here and she’s an absolute gem. 10/10 for this spot

Google
Hidden Gem in Miami A Taste of Vietnam Little Saigon in Miami is a humble Vietnamese pho spot that's been around for 30 years and it shows (in the best way). Most definitely hole in the wall vibes, which usually means the food is authentic. I ordered the chicken pho and spring rolls. The pho broth was incredibly flavorful, but deeply comforting, with tender slices of chicken and fresh herbs on the side. The spring rolls were crispy, fresh, and paired perfectly with peanut sauce. This place has been serving the community for decades with warm service. Highly recommend if you're craving authentic pho and want to support a local classic.

Google
2nd time Ive been and NO disappointments. Authentic, hot and delicious! Ive had pho twice. The roast duck pho is THE BEST. I want to come back and try the pan fried noodles and other bits that arent soup. Forget chain restaurants...this spot is LEGIT

I recently returned from Thailand, and the food served here is similar. I love marinated pork and pork chop. It is not too dry, perfectly cooked. Also, Bahn Mi is the good one for lunch. Delicious and more flavors. I ordered a shimp roll, I really like the dipping sauce. Now you can pay by credit card. Normally accept only cash.

The restaurant was empty when we got there but it was early evening. The prices are reasonable and the food is prepared fresh and comes out steaming hot. They have photos of most of their dishes on the menu. The portions are large. Service was prompt. We chose the vegetarian options. The garlic eggplant was excellent.

Google
The pho was excellent - some of the best I've had, and the service was fast. The problem came when the waitress arrived with the bill. The total was $40 and after she tapped my boyfriends card, she tapped the tip she wanted and when he stopped her and tried to do a custom tip (he was going to give her more) she snatched the card reader away and said in a loud voice (fifteen percent tip please!). We thought she was joking, so we laughed, and he tried to tap the custom tip option again, but she snatched the machine away again and yelled again. Then she looked at his wallet and said, "You have cash! Pay in cash.) At this point, we were offended and told her to charge only the amount of our bill, and we will tip in cash. She acted upset but did so, and them stood there waiting for the tip. This behavior was unacceptable and ruined the entire experience.

Google
I thought the food was good. I've had many bon mi's on the west coast and many to compare to, but overall a good place to go based on food.and value. Service was prompt..will be back to try a few more items.

Google
Pho was really good. I had the special and the broth was really good. Wings didn't come any kinf of sauce so I had to whip my own with the condiments they had on the table. Place was clean. Staff friendly.

Peter T.

Yelp
Casual atmosphere. We dined there twice during past 7 days. Vietnamese grilled pork chops were tasty & authentic. Excellent friendly service was provided by staff. Recommend the big bowl of Bon Bu Hue (spicey beef pho). We'll definitely be back again.

Yelp
This is a place in a little plaza right around the corner from Jackson North, right off 167th. I've had food here once before, and my Physician buddy that works next door had told me the food was pretty good, so I'll trust a Doctor's opinion ;) I LOVE Bahn Mì sandwiches, they are so fresh and delicious and hit a lot of savory flavors, salty, sweet, fatty, acidic from pickled veggies etc. Well, I looked through the menu for a good amount of time and was stunned that Bahn Mì Sammies weren't on the menu. The owner ladies were sitting at a table chatting as it was empty when I entered and asked for menu for take out. I told them I love Bahn Mì and would they be able to make me one even tho not on the menu? They were Happy to oblige, and I asked for extra meat and the owner came out and said she'd make me one with extra meat no charge?!? Who the f*^k does that these days?!? Pretty awesome! She won my heart right there! I also ordered some shrimp and pork rolls, and those are pretty much the same/standard no matter what Vietnamese resto you go to. The Sammie was really delicious, it slapped. The pork was marinated and cooked to perfection, with some nice fatty tendon-y pieces, yum. I could have eaten two, they are 10 inches long too, which is a little bit bigger than I've had anywhere in SoFlo. I really really wanted Pho Dac Biet, but for sure next time. Looking forward to going back for another Bahn Mì and sampling other authentic items, these ladies are as Vietnamese as can be :)

Yelp
I was here with a friend on a Sunday night, it was about 30 mins before closing time so the waitress wasn't too happy when we came in. We decided to stay but felt rushed to order since the kitchen was about to close. There was another party eating so they still needed to wait for them to finish. We ordered the pho and tofu rice place, both were good and came out pretty quick. I thought the place was going to be small but it does have several tables with good space in between them. I did notice a weird smell when I entered, we moved to another table and it was a little better. I understand the waitress wanted to go close and leave for the night so I would be open to going back to see if the service is better.

Yelp
This place has been around forever! Food is delicious. No fancy decor but clean and simple. We were the first one to come into the restaurant and the lady came to take our order. She was friendly. We ordered rice noodles without soup. It was light and lots of vegetables. You can pick the protein on top of the noodles. I picked pork and my friend picked chicken. Both were very flavorful and we really enjoyed it. This place is known to take cash only but the lady has a little machine to take a credit card! That's a huge plus for me even though I still paid cash. If you like Vietnamese food, this is the place!

Yelp
Went here on a friend's suggestion and I trusted them because they're from Vietnam. The food was really good and flavorful. We started with veggie rolls as appetizers. We had the special fried rice and Udon noodles. So good! The rice was really flavorful and the udon noodles so soft and fun to eat! At first the server seemed a bit rushed but we were so nice to her that she ended up with smiles at the end of the night. It could've been she was tired and wanting to go home.

Yelp
Unfortunately not authentic. But still very good food and good price. Chinese owned. Service is good. Reviews are true-they do yell at you for tips. For example, I gave cash to pay our second visit, thinking she would give me my cash back and I would add it to her tip later. And she yelled that it was too low of a tip. She only misunderstood. The change alone wasn't going to be her tip. Not really a good look for business. On to food: Pho: you can tell something is missing. It's not authentic. But it's good soup. Pork and rice: taste like home. I liked it a lot because of that. Could have been a bigger portion though. Duck: very well seasoned. Very good. I didn't like that they included the butt piece in there. Watch out for that bite. Overall, okay place in a pinch!

Leonardo R.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant is authentic and very flavorful, I ordered Thit ko (marinated braised pork belly and soy sauce eggs) it came with white rice. Wonderful. But what makes this place great is the "at home feeling" and the great staff who created that environment. :)

Stacy L.

Yelp
I stopped in for a to-go order of pho bo vien, which wasn't one of the options on their current limited menu, but the staff member who took my order was willing to substitute beef for beef balls. It was packed well, with a separate container for the broth/protein and the noodles, and a little baggy for herbs and sprouts. The large portion is generous amount of noodles, and the herbs and sprouts were very fresh. If I dined in, I think I would need more broth as there wasn't enough in the takeout order. I also wish I could've packed my own sauce as the small 1 oz container is not enough for a whole large order. It was quick, affordable, delicious, and whenever I'm in the area (with cash!), I'm sure to stop in to treat myself! But the cash only can be a deterrent for friends, so this is almost exclusively a takeout place for me.

Yelp
Same establishment once known as Green Papaya... same terrible, rude service and low quality food in a filthy establishment ... just rebranded under a different name. It's an insult to my culture as a Vietnamese person.

Jayson F.

Yelp
Favorite Vietnamese food i've ever tried. Highly recommend it. Service is amazing, especially the owner Lilly she is a lovely lady. The ambiance is also amazing too with the big windows that bring in natural light.
google avatar

Lona P.

Yelp
The owner/server is extremely rude and obviously doesn't want business as I have been coming to this establishment for years and its continuous issues, Today I've had enough. I refuse to be treated and spoken to so disrespectful in English or your language. I will spend my hard earned money else where where's it appreciated. Should have reported your business to the health department when I witnessed a mouse jump into a patron's purse. Don't have to worry about me returning. Deuces

Yelp
My favorite restaurant and restauranteur. Lilly cooks with love which most people never even got at home. Gourmet style taste and wonderful ambience as well. Be sure to say hello to her.

Yelp
The place is not fancy but thats what is great about it. Delicious pho. I love all the pho at this place

Breezy D.

Yelp
I was on the way to ultra music festival and needed a quick eats, so I went here and ordered Pho Dac Biet, the broth was great, presentation was amazing. The food came out in a timely fashion.

Xyrill F.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic! Mom & pop spot. It's all about the food, don't expect too much from service. They're nice and efficient. Food on point!
google avatar

Yelp
I got the spicy beef noodles and the pork buns, this is my first time ordering from this restaurant and everything was delicious

Yelp
Good portion pho with good flavor & inviting workers, who served with passion & patience even when I asked many questions regarding my order. Great local lowkey spot #hiddengem

Yelp
My favorite Vietnamese place in the entire Miami, there's nothing more local, and authentic that this place. They're super nice and this point they know me by name lol. But everything is just great here. Duck pho is definitely my favorite with shrimp spring rolls. But take a visit here and try their different options, they are all great at a reasonable price. This is my go to any time And trust it never disappoints.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
Amazing spot! It was my first time coming here by myself. The service was very attentive, the food was delicious & the atmosphere was very clean. My server was super friendly!! and the best part is that price for the amount you get!! amazing spot for Vietnamese! I will definitely be back

Yelp
Vibes were a little weird. I walked in and was instructed to pick any table I wanted. I picked a small table by the window, but the waitress came up and said I can't sit there and I need to move to another specific table. The staff was nice but very stand offish. I was only given 2-3 minutes before she came back pushing to ask what I wanted so I chose kind of randomly. The shrimp dish I had was incredible. The sauce was yummy and I loved the wrapping it had. The pho was huge and sooo cheap. Hard to find prices like this. The pho broth was more on the sweet side which i personally don't like but that's a me issue the pho was otherwise very well made and well seasoned!
google avatar

Veloca C.

Yelp
Nice services, but the food was horrible. Instant pho would taste better than this bowl of pho. I'm so sorry they need a real translator, too. Chả giò is egg roll. Spring roll is gỏi cuốn and by the way the shrimps were bad already. The way they translating all the names of the food is so unappealing. I almost choked when their waitress brought me 10 bean sprouts on a plate for my pho. I asked if I can have more. She said that's all she allowed to because they are running low on sprouts. There's an Asian market rt down the street. Sorry this is little sai (wrong) gone not sàigon.

Yelp
I have visited this spot for the last 10 years living in Miami. The delicious food is consistent and the vegetable are always fresh. This place has expended over the years, but it is still under the name management an My favorite is #34- Phó beef stew. It has vegetables, chunks of meat , and beef broth. You can always just order by number. All the servers know the numbered menu by heart. Don't expect very engaging staff. They are there to serve you, and that is it.
google avatar

Izzy R.

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this place and I can say it was one of the best surprises, the prices were amazing for the meals that we had. The staff was wonderful and so kind and attentive! Everything was perfect, great little hidden gem I'm definitely going to be a regular here. Thank you guys so much for the hospitality and amazing service, super enjoying :)

Yelp
Leaving a review finally for a spot I've visited 3-4 times since I discovered it about 4 years ago. Food & prices are decent. They've changed their menu and now have a temporary menu which is way smaller. I must say, the service at this spot is horrible. The petite woman who seems to serve every table that walks in is just uncomfortable. She is quick to scoff every time one of the guests seem to open their mouth. Any questions that are asked are answered with an attitude and degrading tone and it's just uncool at this point. Took a few friends here to try it out and enjoy the authenticity/prices but the last time I visited was officially my last time. Last time I was there she looked over my shoulder and scoffed, "that's all you give me?" Yanked the phone out of my hand, removed our water glasses and walked away proceeding to complain to her coworker in Cantonese. I don't need you to be my friend while I'm enjoying my meal at a spot; but some sort of kindness is much more appreciated.

Yelp
Very good food. Not too fancy but very clean The manager was helpful in describing menu items

Yelp
Even though it looks a little sketchy to go in and eat, it was the best pho! The broth tasted amazing ! I paid $7.95 for a "small" bowl and it was pretty big. I also ordered the shrimp Summer rolls & was so satisfied ! I think everyone that loves Pho needs to come in and try it ! Yes, it looks a little weird from the outside, but I feel like it's perfect for that price !
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
I would post pictures of the amazing dishes, but my stomach had other plans! The service, authentic food, and distancing were all top notch!! Definitely with visiting again and again, and more than worthy of being a favorite place to fill up!! Would definitely recommend their Seafood Egg Noodle Pho, freshly made Pork Buns, Fried Spring Roll, and Vietnamese Pork and Shrimp Crepe! The Shrimp Chips are very addictive snack, so be sure to order some! Please show this place some love by appreciating the work it takes to serve up such culture. That GOOD!
google avatar

Jeff G.

Yelp
It's been a few years since my first review of this place, I figure it's time to give it a little refresh now that Miami has progressed a little and more options are now available. Even though there are more "authentic" Vietnamese places, there are still very compelling reasons to come here. 1) It's still cheap 2) It's always open late! 3) It's always consistent
google avatar

Yelp
I've visited Little Saigon many times in the last few years, each time I am NEVER disappointed. The food is consistently delicious and always makes me want more! My party ordered bao buns and summer rolls for appetizer (perfect), and vermicelli bowls (#67) for the main meal. We all couldn't stop raving about the taste and the extremely fair prices. The one thing that was a downer, Little Saigon only takes cash. Be prepared when you go!
google avatar

Zhen C.

Yelp
TLDR - a quick and cheap pho fix Little Saigon is a good spot if you're in the neighborhood and want a big bowl of pho for less than $10. It's not the best by any means. And I think some of my meat had that oxidative sheen on it, but whatever. It was a perfect fix for lunch, and my bowels took zero issues with it after
google avatar

Ivan H.

Yelp
Came in today for a quick bite as I'm still on the quest for the best pho in South Florida. 3/5 Summer Rolls $3.95 came in a pair and were ok; the size they come in smaller than the usual places that I've been to and the pork that's inside wasn't quite seasoned enough. The steamed shrimp were of smaller size and the peanut sauce was a little hazy. Overall taste was decent and value was good. 4/5 Special Beef Noodle Soup $8.95 was a nice large bowl with a really nice amount of pho. The beef amount was overall fair, a little less than I expected for such a large bowl, but for the price, it's more than what you should expect. 5/5 Service is always friendly and quick; there was a party of 20 today and my order had gone in a good amount of time after theirs since I arrived after they were seated; I was surprised and very happy my food didn't get caught up behind this party's.

Yelp
This restaurant is bad food and service, I ordered the "Special Beef Soup", when the lady bring it out, it just have 2-3 slice beef with 1 meat ball cut half. The meet taste and smelling it staying on freezer long time agos. Me and my team trying to eating fast and move out. When we make a purchase, the lady waitress taking with us the feeling angry because lowest tips if we choose 15%. My "Special Beef Soup" check out with tips is $16~ that is bad and suck bowl never have in my life. I DON'T RECOMMENT people coming this restaurant anymore and DON'T COME if you wanna eat at first time.

Knack G.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing and the coffee is a must try, excellent service our waitress was super friendly.
google avatar

Shirley H.

Yelp
Average food followed by horrible service from a lady who seems to hate her life working there. Brought to their attention that a dish that I always eat, was inedible. She instantly says in Cantonese to another lady, that "I didn't know how to eat it, shes stupid, etc" The bill comes and I tell her I understand Cantonese and that her reasoning was not the case for a dish that was served inedible. She says ok forget about it, just fill this out and she hands me the Ipad for the tip. I always tip in cash but once she saw I put 0% on my CC, she says, next time, do takeout only, don't come here again please. Nasty attitude & impatient.. and this is from watching how she took orders from other guests as well. Talks sh*t about customers in Cantonese and expects a nice tip. Epic

Yelp
A group 7 of us from Seattle, took a trip to Homestead and stop for lunch. We ordered pho, marinated pork w/ rice, & grilled pork chop. The waitress, Jing (spelling typo), she was friendly and remembered all our order without writing down. We have conversation with owner and she was very nice. We mentioned about many mangoes in Florida. She gave us some mangoes from her house to try, some of these mangoes are her special one. We later and it was very good. Sweet & juicy, the long mango is crunchy and tangy as we liked it. We will definitely stop by next time again.5 Star Pho

T N.

Yelp
Don't come here if you're Vietnamese. Pho had no beef balls. Pork was not marinated and chewy. Super slow service. Waitress took our condiments to other tables. Absolutely awful experience.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
Yum yum! Nice small authentic Vietnamese restaurant. For an appetizer we ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls and buns. Both were great. I tried the traditional beef pho, and my boyfriend had the duck pho. Loved every bite. The staff was a little snippy at times, but friendly nonetheless. If you're in the mood for pho, give this place a try!

Yelp
Excellent authentic gourmet Vietnamese cuisine with an extensive menu. I have been frequenting this place for over 15 years. The quality and taste have always been consistent and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Hello, thank you for reading my not so stellar review of this once fine establishment. I am not sure how everyone reviews places but let me give you a quick breakdown on how I reviewed Little Saigon. 1 star- environment 2 star- food 3 star- service 4 star- prices 5 star- cleanliness So essentially if you reach my 5 star mark, you have even passed my cleanliness mark. Here is what my multiple experiences have been like, at your establishment. 1. The environment is overall shabby and appears unkempt. There are stragglers often located right outside the store, and since your business only accepts cash, this brings customers into contact with them at the ATM next-door. 2. Your overall food is sub-par, including the presentation, even down to the bean sprouts used. I question the dates of freshness on most of your products. Your Fish sauce is the best I have ever tasted. 3. The service isn't bad, however the language barrier is apparent, and the customer is often left with feelings of fear; that their order was taken incorrectly. 4. Your prices are the cheapest in town. 5. You don't have hot water in the ladies room. How can i trust one of your employees to efficiently wash any sanitation matter off their hands without hot water? This in its entirety disqualifies you from a positive review from me. I question the sanitary practices that you govern in your establishment and have therefore decided to give your place 1 star.

Yelp
I was desperately craving noodles and soup on a Monday night. Yelp indicated that this restaurant was open until 1am on Monday nights. We drove 15 miles to get here, and arrived here at 11:34pm on a Monday night. The restaurant was closed for business upon our arrival. The physical signage posted in front of the restaurant unambiguously indicated the closing time of the restaurant as 1:00am on Mondays. Perhaps the owner had a personal emergency that required closing the restaurant early that night? Much like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, I guess I'll never know ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yelp
So. Good. I've been coming here for years. The first time I came here, I had no expectations this would satisfy my craving for authentic Vietnamese food, but I was blown away. Every time I'm in the area I HAVE to stop by this restaurant. I have never had anything here that has been anything but truly delicious. The pho, the eggrolls, the spring rolls, the banh cuon, and the peking pork are incredible. I'm convinced my grandma works in this restaurant with how good the food is! Don't hesitate to eat at this restaurant.

Maikey N.

Yelp
My family was craving some Vietnamese food. This place popped up in a review that was decent enough to try . We should have went elsewhere. Firstly, the customer service was not great. I had my brother pick up the food and we ordered over 12 meals togo. The check out person refused to give us no more than 2 sets when we asked for utensils for a group of 14 . On top of that the Pho broth was mediocre, it did not taste seasoned and also did not come with any veggies or sauce. The Rice platter did not include anything but some pickled veggies, rice and super fatty meat. Banh Cuon was maybe edible but very starchy.
google avatar

Catie B.

Yelp
I found my new favorite spot for Pho. The broth alone is so savory I couldn't believe it! The portions are LARGE. Anything I ordered on that menu was just incredible. I will be back here and highly recommend you try it if you like Pho.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years so I decided to finally write a review. We always come here for Pho which to me is one of the best places in Miami for that. Everything is always fresh and flavorful and taste great. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this place it's not a fancy place at all but if you want to come here for some great food look no further. It's a half a block from 163rd St. Please keep in mind it's cash only.
google avatar

Miguel-Angel S.

Yelp
This is a small family owned vietnamita restaurant with authentic and delicious food. They have a very extensive menu but usually I always go for the same : the famous PHO or the chicken curry with rice I also always get their fried spring rolls and they are really good. Though this is a very simple place , I give it 4 stars because the food is really good and they prices are really very economic. Be just prepare to pay cash because they won't accept credit cards
google avatar

Xintong L.

Yelp
Food was decent. Service was horrible. Waitress is rude and full of attitude. We ordered two Viet coffee. Only one came. I asked if another is coming, I got "you want another one"? My Viet coffee came first. I asked if the second coffee comes. I got a long answer "yyyes, it is coming". When it eventually arrived, I got a lecture "I told you it is coming ". When I asked how to do the Viet coffee, I got a long stare at mean as if "how dare are you? Don't you know I am busy? Don't you know how to YouTube"? Food is five stars, as the web said. Service is 1 star or 0: final judgement. Just the waitress is bad, very bad. And at the end, she asked me for more tips. Well, that is some audacity, with such a poor service. I gave 15% and said no.

Colin L.

Yelp
Terrible service absolutely distasteful and disgusting. Gave a 15% tip and the waitress complained and raised her voice at me asking for more money. Customer treatment here is horrendous and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Don't come here unless you wanna get garbage service and disrespected by the staff.
google avatar

Julian M.

Yelp
Best food in the area! I was never disappointed by that place and I have been going to that restaurant for over a decade now. The summer rolls and the shrimp dumplings are my 2 favorite things. Prices are fair and the service is good.
