The 17 Best Restaurants in Wichita, Kansas | Eater

"Wichita has a large Vietnamese population, and it’s a great place to get acquainted with that country’s cuisine. One of Wichita’s most popular restaurants is Little Saigon, known for its bun (vermicelli noodle salads); pho stocked with thinly sliced beef and topped with bean sprouts, jalapeños, cilantro, and lime; and banh mi stuffed with grilled pork on crusty French bread. Need an energy boost? Treat yourself to a cafe sua, a potent iced coffee drink made with sweetened condensed milk." - Denise Neil

Google
Honestly, I have no idea how this place got so many good reviews. We’ve tried plenty of pho restaurants in Salt Lake City, and this one is by far the worst. We spent over $70 and still left hungry. The prices are ridiculously high, and the portions are shockingly small. A shrimp roll costs nearly $10—just four tiny shrimp stuffed with a ton of lettuce. They should really call it a “vegetable roll.” The pho barely had any meat in it—you could almost count the slices. To be fair, the broth tasted decent, but the noodles were over-soaked and had zero chewiness. The pork banh mi was just average, nothing special at all. As for the restaurant’s environment and service—both are basically a 0. Don’t waste your money here.

I'm making my way down my to go list of pho joints in the SLC area. I was at the Sugar House Medical center today and Little Saigon was less than a mile away. So of course with it being so conveniently close, my daughter and I had to go check it out. This joint is kinda hidden. It's in a smaller venue which can be cool. Hole in the wall type joints can produce some of the best food. Walking in, the music is going. It almost set a Hawaiian type of vibe for me, not Vietnamese. There's a few guests enjoying their meals. I did check online for their menu. They have a little of everything which was nice. I got my usual today which was the ribeye and brisket pho. My daughter got her usual bun bo hue. My bowl was dropped off first and that baby was steaming! You can tell it was freshly made! They didn't just grab broth from a big pot. They heat that broth up to boiling point and poured it into my bowl. My daughter's bowl came out shortly and it was steaming too. I can tell there was going to be a good amount of spice to her broth. It was rich in red. My broth was savory. You can smell and taste the aromatics used to make it. It rich in color. The broth was savory and it was nice eating from such a hot bowl. The ribeye was so tender. I like that the brisket was smaller, thinner pieces. The only negative thing to say about my pho was that my noodles were a little overly cooked. They were on the softer side when I started eating so it only got softer while I was working on my bowl. Customer service here is pretty basic. It's the same as McDonald's. They drop off your food and don't come back. So if you're looking for more service, this joint isn't it. Their soda machine is down so it's only water, whats in the mini fridge, Vietnamese coffee or their mango drink. They pushed out a good bowl of pho today. I'm happy I got to mark this joint off my to go list.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake City. I frequented this spot for years and now I have to stop by whenever I visit. I miss when they carried Herbal Beverage, but other than that the brisket pho still goes crazy every single time. Grilled pork banh mi is also a must. Thanks for everything, Little Saigon.

Google
Little Saigon is a true Vietnamese treasure in Salt Lake City! My dining experience was exceptionally positive, marked by delicious food, generous portions, and incredibly fast service. We ordered a sandwich (Banh Mi) and a soup (Pho) to share between two people, and the portions were enormous—neither of us could finish our share! Everything was absolutely delicious; the flavor was authentic, rich, and truly satisfying. The service was remarkably quick, which is always a bonus. While getting into the spot was a minor adventure (there's a notoriously deep, big hole in the parking lot!), the moment you taste the food, that bad memory is instantly erased. The incredible flavors and overall value make this restaurant a must-visit. Five stars, despite the bumpy entrance!

Google
Amazing meal. We had the chicken curry vermicelli and pho combo! Wow!! Both were fantastic! This will be our go to when coming through SLC. Also, Vietnamese ice coffee was bomb! Best I've had since I was in Vietnam.

Google
Really nice place to stop by for a bowl of pho. They give a very generous amount of meatballs, which not many places do. I also love that their soup is hot enough to actually cook the bean sprouts, which is rare to find. I really enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back soon.

Google
My experience with Little Saigon was very disappointing. The 4.6 google review rating is misleading and I wish I have read the recent negative reviews because I agree with them 100%. The food was sub par in my opinion compared to other restaurants. The real issue with this restaurant is its service. The lady at the counter was unfriendly from the beginning. Then, I noticed that there was a price discrepancy in my order between the menu at the top of the counter and what they charged me. I politely pointed it out to her before I left. My intention was not to get the price adjustment but to let them know the error so that they will let customers know when they order the dish and ultimately fix the menu. Her response was in very rude manner repeating all the pho dishes have the same price (mine was listed a dollar lower in the menu). I don't know if she is an owner or employee. Either way, after reading other customers' reviews, I believe they do not recognize the poor customer services and have no intention to address and improve them. They do not deserve any tips with such a service.

Google
I used to frequent this spot. Pho is my favorite food and this place used to absolutely crush it. Over the past 3 years, the pho prices have gone up by almost 30%. The quality is no longer there… I will say, their banh mi still looks great. The service is a fast; no-frills typa vibe. You dine in on chairs covered in duct tape but I won’t take the time to hate on that. Last night, I order the spicy brisket pho (P5 on the menu). I really had to fish around for the brisket and the broth lacked any flavor- in fact it just tasted like boiled water with a teaspoon of salt. I doused the pho in sriracha and hoisin sauce just to feel something. I want this place to succeed. I love the establishment for what it is, but I’ve watched their steady decline with the hike of pricing.

Yelp
The food was delicious! We got a sandwich and tacos and they both tasted so fresh and good.

Yelp
Met a dear friend for lunch here at Little Saigon on my last day in Salt Lake City. Was here a year a year or so ago and glad to know the food is still good and no frills as ever. I ordered: 1) fresh spring rolls; which was freshly wrapped, the peanut sauce thick and peanuts and the veggies (inside) had a snap and crunch. 2) A spicy beef short rib Banh mi sandwich;not particularly spicy for me but the beef short rib was flavorful and the sandwich fresh (as opposed to to hard and chewy) We sat in their outside patio area and enjoyed good conversation and food. Can't wait to come back !

Yelp
I would come back for the pho banh mi. That was delicious and you don't really see that anywhere else. However, I think I might try else where for pho and the spring rolls. They were just ok. The pho didn't really have that much meat. I was quite disappointed. The rare beef also came already in the broth so it was overcooked. I guess people have complained the beef came uncooked and rare and were scared of that so they have to send it out cooked. Oh well. The spring rolls were fine, just not something I would need to order.

Yelp
Had a pretty unpleasant experience dining in one evening here with friends from out of town. The only tables big enough for six when we arrived were covered in leftovers/ teriyaki sauce/whatever. Got in line to order while my wife asked for a towel to clean up one of the table units- She was straight up told the table would not be cleaned until our order was placed -Say what ? So we are just to just hover around a table hoping it actually can get cleaned... Ridiculous- Food came out in batches- PHO tasted a bit odd- Overpriced- Went to the order desk and asked for a side plate and was basically growled at by the super unfriendly gal taking orders- Is getting a plate hard ? Seems so here- Glad to wrap up the meal and get the heck out- Wont be back.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to Little Saigon a few times, and it has hit so hard every time! It does give a little bit of a hole in the wall vibe without the hole in the wall pricing, but the food is amazing. The person behind the counter has always been nice and helpful. We normally start with the cream cheese wontons. Theirs are some of the best I've ever had. I get the pork banh mi, and I'm obsessed with it. So good and so refreshing. My husband really likes their ribeye pho. They are a Pepsi establishment :/ and they don't even have Diet Pepsi just pepsi zero in a fountain. Even tho it is a little pricier, we keep going back every time we want Vietnamese food since their food is just so good!!

Yelp
Was craving some yummy, typical spot I go to closes early on Sunday. Little Saigon was a recommendation. Area was a little sketchy which was fine, usually hole in the wall joints are delish! Ordered the meatball pho and brisket pho. The spicy beef short rib banh mi the cashier recommended and also ordered the Vietnamese coffee. The seating needs some cleaning and updating. Red duck tape on the booths. Condiments need cleaning. The pho came out pretty quick! Regular size bowl they do give a big portion. Veggies were old. Most of the Thai basil were bad. They give you one tiny lime. The broth needed a little more flavor. Was kind of bland. The meatballs were actually flavorful but a lot of chewy tendons. The Vietnamese coffee came out a little later, on the sweet side, tasted more like it was a powder mix not brewed. Tasted more like a mocha not Vietnamese coffee. The banh mi came out last. Was excited to try, the bread was a disappointment, wasn't hot and crispy, more wet and soggy. Overall was very disappointed. Won't be coming back!

Yelp
This is a cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, tucked away off of 2100 S. The food is so fresh! They have shrimp, several kinds of meats, and tofu. The sign said they are out of soy chicken, so hopefully that will be back in stock soon. The service was prompt and courteous, though it was really hard to hear the person taking out order with the sounds from the kitchen and the sign overhead, so I had to ask them to repeat themselves.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Came here really craving pho and this place did not disappoint! The pho broth was flavorful, and the large bowl ($18) came with a good amount of meat. It was exactly what I needed. The cheese wontons were just sweetened cream cheese filling, nice and crunchy, also tasty with the sweet and sour sauce. We got the grilled pork banh mi to go to take to the airport, and it kept well. The pickled veggies tasted fresh and had a little sweeter flavor. Service was quick and easy. It was a nice casual place to stop at the end of our trip!

Yelp
SO GOOD! We were looking for a quick spot to grab something to eat and omg i'm so glad we came here. They had SO MANY options and all of it looked fresh and quick! I went with the grilled chicken Bahn Mi and wow it was so good! The service was pretty quick and everyone in there was super friendly! There were a lot of spots to eat and dine in as well as spots outside!! Def would recommend this space and encourage people to stop by through the construction chaos of sugarhouse to support! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Their banh mi sandwiches are so good! I loved everyone that I've tried!! I also love their pho. A cute little hole in the wall place. Super recommend!

Yelp
I came here on a quick run home after work because I was starving. The Phở itself had really good warmth. I asked for it to be extra hot (boiling not spicy), and they brought that out to perfection! However, unfortunately the broth tasted a little weird, it tasted as though it lacked salt? Don't get me wrong the broth is normally very good, however yesterdays, I felt like I needed to add hoisin and sriracha to it just to get the taste where it normally is. I love coming here and the people are great, and the ambiance and vibes are wonderful. Just yesterday, it did not quite hit the mark for me. Needless to say, I'll continue to come back, in hopes that I can give the restaurant 5 stars next time! Keep up the great work Little Saigon!
google avatar

Isaac R.

Yelp
This Vietnamese place is really good; everything that I tried from here was so delicious; the pho was ok. I really enjoyed when the pho has that taste of the broth. The place is small and sometimes it is difficult to find a table.
google avatar

Vy Van K.

Yelp
Pho is pretty decent. Parking was a bit of pain due to the construction. You order at the counter and the plan is they bring your food to you. However, this didn't happen. I ordered and sat for 15 minutes, saw a table of 5 come in ten minutes later and within 10 minutes their food was delivered. Only after I went up there to point out the delay did they start making my food. With a small restaurant that was not busy at the and for the staff to just not be aware was surprising considering how many people working. When my friend's food arrived, the server accidentally smacked her toddler in the head with her dish causing him to wail loudly for a few minutes. We only came bc of the convenience to an event we were going to after, but it will not be our first choice in the future.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Good in a pinch, quick, and great value. Quantity-wise, you'll be full. Quality-wise, you'll be satisfied. The food's probably in the top 15th percentile for food in salt lake, and top 10th percentile for vietnamese food. Their vermicelli noodle dishes are served hot, which is curious, but still good. For an easy 45 minute in-and-out-the-door meal, i'd highly recommend it!
google avatar

Sydney R.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite place... but $18 for a bowl of pho is insane! Go to pho 33, better pho and cheaper
google avatar

MyLien P.

Yelp
Pho still amazing here! Love that it is consistent. Cream cheese wontons were okay.. I think you'll be fine not getting them. But over all have came here multiple times. Service is pretty good, they are quick and on top of it. Pho is amazing! Definitely one of my favorite pho spots!
google avatar

Shana N.

Yelp
Pho was decent but I don't think I would come back for it. My friend got Bun Bo Hue and I enjoyed the taste of that better so I would come back to try that.

Ana Lynne D.

Yelp
Ordered the pho sandwich, it is very soggy. The cashier lady is not nice. I do not recommend this place .
google avatar

Brady L.

Yelp
I've been here dozens of times. Mostly for the pho but also vermicelli noodles. Excellent.

Dree S.

Yelp
I ordered the Pho sandwich. Tasted good but I'm not a fan of soggy bread. I brought it up to the cashier and she made another one. Except this time it came out even worse. When the owner is here the food is great. When he's not it sucks. We will not be back again.
google avatar

Yair K.

Yelp
This "hole in the wall" restaurant is able to produce amazing dishes. I had the spring rolls and the pho. Both were amazing. I ordered the large size pho but the regular size is more than enough as portions are large. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
We live nearby and love when the wind is blowing just right and we can smell the soup. I have been here a dozen times and am never disappointed. The soup is a huge portion. The cream cheese won tons are my favorite! There are many great vegetarian options and I feel thankful for this business!
google avatar

Sananikone M.

Yelp
Not a fan of this place. I'm in town for a few days and wanted to have some pho. The eggrolls were very mushy and the vermicelli bowl was a -1. The meat that came a the dish didn't complement anything. It almost felt like I was eating mystery meat. My pho was ok. The soup had enough flavor and wasn't overwhelming. Soup noodles ration was spot on. The basil was lacking. Just a few leaves. I give the soup 6/10.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
I did a delivery order from this place. It arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The food was pretty good but I feel like the portion of the protein was so little! Ordered the chicken and beef lemongrass, comes with rice , salad. Salad was pretty fresh. The rice was a normal Vietnamese cooked rice. And the meat was pretty good. I will try this place again later but this time in person. Would like to see how their service and portion of protein is compared to a delivery order!
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Had a tiring day and wanted a quick pho fix before we left town. Gave this place a shot and thought it was really tasty! We didn't have high expectations for Utah, but it definitely hit the spot. I like that they have sizes and the pho broth was amazing. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick pho fix!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Our go to spot for pho in SLC. I don't eat beef so I love that they offer vegetable broth as an option. Most of the other spots in Salt Lake I've wanted to try have a beef broth only option. Their portions are very filling! I usually get the chili oil to add into the pho to give it an extra spicy kick.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Middle of the road Vietnamese stop. The place was on the dirtier side as many tables had empty bowls and plates sitting on them awhile past customers leaving. The spring rolls were overstuffed and seemed to lack fresh flavors. Overall they were disappointing. The steak pho was good but didn't have enough meat for the price.
google avatar

Margaret C.

Yelp
Delicious pho and large portion! The service was very quick, and busy for a Tuesday night.

Soekoko L.

Yelp
Love it! Broth is so rich and beef balls are bomb! My friends got Pho Ca and Bun Bo Hue and they said it's bomb aswell!
google avatar

Christine N.

Yelp
Delicious pho! I decided to try this place on a whim and it was good. Don't let the location steer you away though. There is plenty of free parking and the interior is quite small, but you can small the pho broth from outside of the building. Do not come here in a big group because you all won't be able to fit unless you come early. I got the combination pho and the broth was flavorful. I highly recommend coming here for the pho.

julian l.

Yelp
No mint?! Why? Also vermicelli in salad was hot... when they get mint I'll come back. And the outdoor seating has no shade.
google avatar

Daisy R.

Yelp
Fun takeout on my way home tonight! Order and pick up were fast and easy! Husband got tofu lo mein, son got grilled pork rice and I got a bahn mi sandwich wrapped in lettuce! Everything was delicious!! Sandwich wrap was a tad messy but worth it!! Love the variety they have! Ordered something different each time and loved it all!!

Hongrui L.

Yelp
The food taste is okay not bad. The price is more than expected and the dishes have little meat. The price is similar as CA, but less quantity. Unbelievable.

Luiz E.

Yelp
FIRE AHH PHO, top tier pho, better than most no cap PLAYA. Service was super fast, good music haha I down that ish SO FAST

Rhoda V.

Yelp
There was nothing traditional about this place and it was way overpriced! The sandwiches are more than double other Vietnamese restaurants. The banh mi sandwiches had no pate and very little daikon. The combination pho didn't have the typical fixings of a combination. And when we ordered a meatball pho substituting the noodles for rice, they got it wrong and didn't correct it. Instead, we had to speak to 3 different people and still they didn't understand and made us pay for the side of rice.
google avatar

P H.

Yelp
Food was great, needs more seating. Crowded during lunch rush. The Pho was amazing very fresh. The sandwiches are very good! Loved there Vietnamese coffee
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
Such a perfect bowl of pho for a windy and chilly day. The pho was prepared meticulously with balanced flavor. I only had sriracha and hoisin sauce on the side to dip the meat because I wanted to enjoy the broth the way it came. Service was friendly and quick. The inside was bright and clean. Self seat once you order. If I were a local, I'd be back on the regular.
google avatar

Jack C.

Yelp
To put it simply, this store is very good and I look forward to coming again next time.
google avatar

Taylor T.

Yelp
Went here spur of the moment on a cold Sunday because pho sounded amazing and we were in the area . It was really good! The restaurant itself is nothing special but what you'd typically come to expect. The service was good and quick. I really liked the chicken and the broth and that is how I rate my pho. Some places the chicken texture is weird and the broth isn't great so when I pick my "spots to go" that is what I'm looking for . We went with friends and everyone was pleased with their food.
google avatar

Kenny F.

Yelp
I have been picking up lunch from Little Saigon, once a week for the past 8 to 10 weeks. My grandson loves their potstickers. Food is really consistent and tasty. The B8, Short Riv with Kimchi is my favorite. The bread is always crispy and the flavor combination is spot on.
google avatar

Wallace W.

Yelp
After about 10 years of frequenting Lottle Saigon. I'm finally getting around to writing a quick review. It has been, from the first time I came here, one of my favorite Vietnamese food places in Salt Lake. Today I had the combination Pho, which was really flavorful, mostly with brisket and meat balls. No Tripe or tendon, which I usually want, but the flavorful broth and nicely sized serving portion made up for the lack of ingredients. I've also had their Bun Bo Hue, Bahn Mi sandwiches and their Bun, vermicelli noodle dishes. All were great. The service is fast, the staff is really friendly and the venue is clean and bright, if not fancy. At night it gets a bit noisy but usually it's pretty calm. I'm sure I'll be returning frequently in the future as it's long record of consistency in food, service and it's convenient location make it one of my preferred eating venues.
google avatar

Sushi S.

Yelp
We normally go to pho Tay Ho but we got there late and they're closed so we stopped in for dinner. Had really high hope since the reviews look promising but the food was mid and the price was steeper than other places in the local area. You get maybe five thin slices of meat and watered down broth with tons of MSG.

Marta E.

Yelp
I loved the pho broth and noddles. I wish they gave you more meat. We went for lunch and it was a great little spot, you just order at the counter and they bring your food to your table.
google avatar

Vasily K.

Yelp
I'm coining the term "WAB" for this place because they make one wet Bahn Mi! I don't usually think Nicki Minaj when I eat sandwiches but there's no way to avoid it when the food is this bangin'. So bangin' that I ended up eating here four times in the first day that I found myself in SLC. The Pho is incredible and super fragrant, the vermicelli noodle bowls are spot on with fresh herbs but their true masterpiece is the Bahi Mi. I always got the spicy beef one which is served with all the expected veggies but also loaded down with a delicious kimchi. Eat here. Eat here. Eat here. The food is love.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Can there be anything better on a cold winters day than a nice hot bowl of pho? I had the regular sized combination beef pho. It was good. Pretty filling, flavor was pleasant.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch and the wait to get your food is non existent - friendly employees and it's a cute hole in the wall place but homey and you feel comfortable right when you walk in. This review is really for the items I ordered today. I tried (for the first time in my life) Bun Bo Hue - which is a very traditional, authentic Vietnamese soup, a bit spicy (which did not bother me) and also tried their Viet sandwich - grilled pork. The Bun Bo Hue - well, if you don't like traditional/authentic viet soup, you can def skip it. I wanted to try it as I was curious - because this place has LEGIT pho here, their pho is fantastic. Back to the Bun Bo Hue which included beef shank, viet ham, and thick noodles, was just OK. I found that it didn't have enough noodles, some pieces of the beef shank were tough, and the viet ham was meh. I'm sure to others, this entree is great here! But I guess I am not a BBH fan. The grilled pork sandwich - the bread and veggies were fine, but the actual grilled pork was bland, no flavor, and really pale looking. I would've preferred a more grilled looking color, along with some sauce that viet sandwiches normally have. Next time, I will just still to the pho! Would def go back for the pho.

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere with comfort food and found this little gem that was nearby! It's located on E Windsor St. There's a small parking lot with quite a few stalls. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. You have to order up front first and get a number for your food order. Originally and usually, I order pho in new Vietnamese places that I try. But it was soooo hot and the restaurant didn't seem to have AC, so I went for the House Special banh mi. And honestly, no regrets. The sandwich was delicious! Different cuts of meat and also pate (liver) was in the sandwich. I actually got full off of half a sandwich and saved it for the following day, which was still really good. My friend got the grilled pork plate which also pretty good! He seemed to like his choice. This little shop offer many food options to try and the sandwich I had was delicious!

Yelp
Best pho in the city!! Been coming here religiously for a few years and it never disappoints.
