Where to Watch Super Bowl LVI in Houston

"If history was written differently, Little Woodrow’s in Midtown, a well-known Kansas City Chiefs home bar, would have been a thrilling destination to hunker down on Super Bowl Sunday, but after losing out to the Bengals, the vibe may feel slightly different. Football fans can still expect a great time — the bar will be playing the game with sound on scores of TVs across the sprawling bar and offer beer bucket specials throughout the day." - Megha McSwain

Great atmosphere and service. Bought from the food truck and the Frita Loaded Fries were a little pricey but really good. Also they had an outside vendor walking around selling tamales and they were great. We got the pork tamales and asked if they had any jalapeno and cream cheese and he made a phone call. 10 minutes later we had the jalapeno tamales to go with the pork. Great experience. We were lucky enough to have happened upon the pug playdate in the small dog park area. It made it all the more fun.

Google
Awesome ambience and even better great food options onsite. The crawfish were perfect, my wife is from New Orleans and highly approved of these. The service is amazing and so many TV’s to enjoy your favorite sports event.

I didn't have any food, so I can't say if it's good or not. Luckily, I'm not from Houston, so it's not like I will be back anyway. However, after reading a lot of the 1 star reviews, I can say they are telling the truth. Watching the turtle races was fun. It's definitely worth that and then leaving to go drink somewhere else. The bald headed guy running the races is a total tool. He told me to shut up even though everyone else was making noise because he wanted to make an announcement. There was one bartender that's the only one worth going to, but as you can imagine, everyone went to her. The other ones should probably find different jobs. I watched one cut 3 people off with no explanation whatsoever. One didn't even have a drink the whole time she was there. All in all, go watch the turtle races for sure, but then get out of there and go where you and your money are appreciated.

Google
This place is awesome! One bar area inside with AC, the rest of the seating is outside with an additional bar outside. They bring in different food trucks the food is always changing. They have corn hole boards and other outdoor games available. A ton of TVs with one huge screen in the outdoor area. Excellent place for watching a game, especially during cooler months.

Google
I truly love this place from the bottom of my heart. It’s the best atmosphere “take care of you” type bar definitely in midtown but maybe in all of Houston. BUT I see a corporate type initiative driving it in the wrong direction. To the point where it looks like employees feel like they are being watched and need to “do something” to make the bald guy lurking around happy (corporate obviously 🙄). I’ve been coming to this place for about 6 years now. I moved here from Louisiana without knowing anyone and little Woodrow’s took me in. Everyone from Brenda to Devin to Kaci was absolutely welcoming. And it means the world to me. Don’t let that atmosphere die!

Google
Fun spot. They had a turtle race going on, which was super unique. Not the greatest spot to watch a Thursday night NFL game (it was on only a couple screens with no sound). But it was still pretty fun.

Google
Great place to enjoy a Ballgame at. Huge drink menu, lots of television screens everywhere, games for all to play. Had some delicious, Hot n Fresh Tamales. Staff was friendly and courteous. Lots of available seating. Great time had by all.

You can bring outside food! Great spot to catch a game and they have a wide beer and liquor selection

Yelp
I've been to a couple Little Woodrow's locations, and while this one doesn't have a bowling alley, there's definitely plenty of seating to watch sports and the fun turtle races. Went here for the Red River Shootout game. It's definitely your premier bar to watch the UT games. Longhorn fans fill every inch of the bar. I love the various seating like a bar hall, swings, covered patio, lawn chairs, and high and low tables. There's also covered tarps to block the sun and fan misters for a hot day. It was so packed that we found some stacked chairs near the food truck and just set up nearby a TV screen to watch. I love that they play all the UT songs. The place has surround sound that makes it feel like you're at the game cheering. There's a large selection of beer and cocktails. I tried the October special which was a peach and ginger whiskey sour. I like the candied ginger and cherry garnish. Couldn't taste much of the peach, but it was still good. A lot of people ordered from the Cuban food truck parked inside the bar. We ate before, so we didn't try anything. The food looked good though. Maybe next time! Parking on game days can be difficult, but there's a lot for $10 right across and some metered street parking for $1/hr. We got lucky and found street parking right across.

Yelp
Charges you their merchant (credit card) fees and on TOP of that, an additional random $1 as a separate transaction. Happened twice to me on two different occasions. On the first, thought it was a fluke and gave them the benefit of the doubt. The second time, exact same thing, random second transaction of $1 appeared. May not sound like a lot but if they did that for everyone, that's a lot of legally-suspect activity. Filed a fraud claim. Won't be coming here anymore.

Yelp
This is a great little Woodrow's location. Good vibes. Turtle racing on Thursday is always so fun. Drinks are average price. A beer is ~$6. Staff is nice, especially for how busy it gets sometimes. I'd recommend. Always have a good time here

Yelp
Great bar with chill and upbeat vibes, with great music and tvs all around. If there's a big game, they will show it on the big screen.Had a few cocktails and shots which were all good and decently priced considering it's a sports bar. Plenty of seating at tables, high chairs, and swings. They also have games like connect 4, jenga, and cornhole. They have different events some days which are outlines on their site and social media. Absolutely loved coming to the turtle races on Thursdays. All the bartenders were great! Ana had some great recommendations and amazing personality!! Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
This location is much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside! So many places to sit and hangout. Lots of fun games to play while you drink, like Jenga and connect 4 (life size of course). We went day drinking so didn't get to try the food. I had a few bloody Marys which were pretty good! Not the best but not the worst. I also had an espresso martini and they have it on tap, which was weird to me... but it ended up tasting pretty good! The best part about this location was the bartenders. All the girls were very sweet and attentive. Very little wait for service.

Yelp
Two buckets of Truly cost me $99. I'm not even making this up. I love the atmosphere and everybody is friendly, but I can't justify spending over $100 for two buckets. I even talked to the manager who explained the price was correct. That's $9 a can. No thank you.

Yelp
My recent visit to Little Woodrow's Midtown for their famous turtle racing night was an absolute blast. It's a place that combines the laid-back charm of a neighborhood bar with the quirky excitement of turtle racing, resulting in a unique and unforgettable experience. The turtle racing event was the highlight of the evening, and it lived up to the hype. It's not every day you get to watch turtles compete for glory, and the energy in the room was electric. The anticipation leading up to each race was palpable, and the cheers from the crowd added to the excitement. Little Woodrow's Midtown has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to unwind with friends. The outdoor patio was especially enjoyable, providing a great view of the racing track. The only minor downside was that it could get a bit crowded during peak hours, but that's a testament to its popularity. What made the night truly special was the engaged and friendly crowd. Everyone seemed to be there for the sheer joy of the event, and conversations flowed easily. The camaraderie among fellow turtle racing enthusiasts made the evening all the more enjoyable. If you're in the mood for a unique and lively experience in Midtown Houston, make sure to check out Little Woodrow's on turtle racing night. It's an experience you won't soon forget.

Yelp
Coming from Cali to visit my family we were pretty excited to go to sports bars. Tonight was very disappointing. Service here is a lot less professional and lot more prejudice than in Cali. The female, white server was racist and intentionally forgot one of my (black) family member's drink for hours after bringing everyone else multiple rounds. Then instead of apologizing made excuses, garbage service. I guess racism is still well and alive in Texas, where the white men at the table get served but not the black men. Maybe because these are young girls who make assumptions but maybe don't judge someone and assume who does and doesn't have money. If you take an order, just bring it, customer service is about making good money you do yourself a disservice by picking and choosing who you want to help. But hey maybe that was just my perspective as a successful server/bartender in a major Cali city where I made tons of money lol.

Briar T.

Yelp
I was there this past weekend, the 40/50s Hispanic bartender had absolutely no customer service experience to my knowledge. Made me feel very unwelcome in a place that I love coming to. I would expect better trained individuals from a business that holds itself to a high standard. This kind of service makes me want to never recommend this location to anybody nor come back myself. I hope this issue can be resolved.

Yelp
Came for a first date! Drinks were good. Tried the cocktail of the month which I think they should just keep on the menu. Nice atmosphere. Definitely wish we could've seen some turtle races but I'll definitely be back !

Yelp
One of the best kept secrets of the Midtown Bars! Woodrows is amazing. They offer a very social, relaxing, and entertaining vibe. There are games such as corn hole and connect four for entertainment (I'm sure there are plenty more that I physically didn't see). They have outdoor seating next to fire pits, outdoor booths, bench styled tables (indoors), and just a variety of different scenes all within the establishment. Definitely a great venue to catch-up/ hangout with friends, go on a date, or just have a good solo time!

Yelp
Little Woodrow's is by far the best local spot for an after work drink or to watch the game. They are dog friendly and offer tons of space to accommodate big groups. If you are looking to start your weekend early they have turtle racing on Thursdays! It's exactly what it sounds like; you bet (for free) on a turtle each round and the turtle (I recommend #8 or #9) wins the race you get a free shot! The bartenders are friendly but it can busy so give them grace and treat them well.

Yelp
The true score of this place should be: 3.5 Pros: - Lively on a Thursday night prior to the first weekend of the Fall college football season. - large spaces with various areas - Turtle racing occuring intermittenly with stands surrounding to view and place bets - Reportedly, it's a typical go-to Texas Longhorns Houston Texas bar. Cons: - 2-3 attractive ladies seen out of the whole space (Thursday evening). Impression: - It was fun to check out Houston, Texas. It's been sometime since I've been back to Houston. It looks like they're doing well.

Kim F.

Yelp
The staff were rude. When it was closing time one of them walked by and kicked my friend's chair and said it's time to head towards the exit. There were plenty of people still seated but the kick to her seat took things too far. To top that off $47 for 2 shots on a Thursday night with an open concept neighborhood bar was a bit much.

Yelp
Perfect for cold beer, ballgame watching, snacking kind of place. Service pretty good. Crawfish, tamales, bar food. Perfect location.

Yelp
Turtle racing was so fun! Works definitely go back. Plus, the food truck was delicious.

Yelp
I've been going here for a little over a year on a semi regular basis, it's a busy bar but has a solid regular group, management, bar tenders, security all top notch. Special thanks to Marq for the great conversations and solid advice, and Shelby for countless great times!

Yelp
Had a great time service was immaculate I recommend John he is a great manager and shelby makes great drinks.

Yelp
If you order a drink with topo Chico, they will charge you $3 per drink PLUS the choice of poison. And they don't give you the remaining topo Chico Paid $18 for Casamigos and $3 topo chico -- $21 for ONE drink!!!! high way robbery

Yelp
This location is in a good area where you can bar hop to the different spots. And that's what I'm usually doing whenever I stop by here. It's plenty of space and seating & some swings. Some lawn games and a food truck usually. A good sports bar to watch the games. And pet friendly. When I visited recently I got food from the Coffee-Q truck and a frozen drink from the bar. This drink was strong so 4 stars for them lol. I would like to return for their pet days if I can remember to do so.

Yelp
Great environment and plenty to do if it's with friends or just yourself. Extremely friendly staff

Yelp
There is a food truck with good food, super fun the Thursday day "turtles race day" / pet friendly

Yelp
The best part about this place is the food truck parked inside, the swings and giant games: Jenga and connect 4. The patio is huge, and has plenty of fans that mist, so it's actually really comfortable. Dog friendly too! My experience here with some friends started off terrible. The bartender, who I've included a picture of, was SO rude to all of us. The bar was almost empty when we got up to it, she didn't greet us, and tried to help a different girl that walked up after we did. She gave us a hot 3 seconds of her time to let us order a drink and 3 shots, and walked away. We had to wait an additional 5 minutes for her to acknowledge us again to order the other drinks that we wanted. She was abrupt and rude, no smile, no thank you, nothing. She was the reason we started to ask for a manager and then leave, but we opted to drink our drinks first. We later found a spot on the swings and decided it was ok to stay. I wouldn't come back here though. I'd try any of the other locations before ever coming here. When you have rude ass people serving paying customers, that can stop them from becoming regulars. So in that regard, mission accomplished.

Yelp
It's the Turtle race for me!!! Fun fun fun! No better time of year and night then a happening Thursday! The crowd is cool! Best vibes, diversity and awesome drink specials! I love midtown and I love how many Little Woodrow's are nestled in the area and surrounding l!

Yelp
Turtles... sports... food trucks galore. What more could I want in a bar?! I've been here a few times now and I can honestly say I've never had any issues! Parking has been $10 to park in the lot connected to the bar itself. Security checks your ID and you walk in to a fun young atmosphere! They are dog friendly but please leave the puppers at home on busy nights what's fun for you might be traumatic for them. Wide selection of beverages and plenty of outsourced food to choose from and for purchase. My favorite time to come is for the turtle races! It's free to play and someone in my group has always one at least one round for the drink of the night. The staff are highly approachable and fun to interact with that have bubbly personalities. College game nights can be packed so if you like crowds that's an event night for you!! Bonus*** find the man with the turtle shell backpack he started it all!!

Yelp
Great wings, friendly staff and fun Eagles games!! This is our go-to for Philly in Houston.

Yelp
We stopped by for the first time ever today, Monday, Dec 20, 2021. The bartender working at 5pm (woman) was the rudest person ever. We had never been to any of your locations before, so we were unaware of what, when, where, how food & drinks were served. She never smiled, she acted as if we were bothering her. Any questions we asked her, she replied as if we were stupid. Little does she realize that we own a restaurant & bar ourselves. We would never mistreat our patrons that way. There are too many restaurants out there that appreciate our business. The men who worked there whom we encountered were very friendly. He turned on the fire pit for us and he was extremely friendly. The bar back gentleman was friendly too. That bartender has lots of room for improvement. She was downright rude.

Yelp
Houston Texans and UofH fans get pushed to the back. KC and UT bar. Local fans should seek other venues for local sport teams.
google avatar

Yelp
I only went once but it was such a cool experience at the same time. I would say beware of the amount of people who are drunk there. My bestfriend was assaulted here by some guy while he was drunk and smacked her butt and we tried getting his put out but he was gone by the time the workers were looking for him. The turtles were adorable though!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Not a very good place to watch Astro's. Everyone is watching but no sound. Just loud dance music.
google avatar

Belly G.

Yelp
I've always had a good time every time I come in to Little Woodrow's. NEVER a problem getting inside. The bartenders are usually quick to get to you, even when it's super packed. At the very least, they will acknowledge you and then serve you when they get the chance. Unlike some other bars where the bartenders will not even acknowledge you, let alone serve you; you know the ones who pretend like they never see you but they will serve the hot chick/guy standing right next to you? Yeah, that. The last time I was here was during the day and the drinks being poured were generous. They had some construction work out in the patio though and the sawdust was everywhere. Oh, and let's not forget that JonJon Hot Dog camps out right outside! So get your drink on and then buy some hot dogs!
google avatar

Yelp
Ready! Set! Go! Janelle is the best staff member here. Love the spot. Great place to kick back and enjoy beers with friends. Tots were okay from the food truck. He gave me a hook up so I won't complain. Not further! Lol. Overall great spot. Early week is quite here. You can't go wrong. Oh side note....watch out for tree roots when leaving. If you fall and bust your behind it's embarrassing. True story.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere here. Great food truck. Nice drink selection. Nice folks. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Houston
google avatar

Yelp
Not a big fan of the ambiance. But too loud and unkempt for my taste, BUT i love the turtle racing. Great energy and the crowd is so hype. You can't not get excited watching this little buddies run!
google avatar

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
So glad that Little Woodrow's has opened back up!! A great place to watch Saturday football and a must for longhorn fans. Love that they play the Texas fight song and eyes of Texas over the intercom! Got the new iced Irish coffee and loved it! The perfect pick-me-up after a day of beer drinking!

Valeria L.

Yelp
My friends and I had a great time playing around! The games were great.. their vodka was better when I asked for a specific kind, the house vodka was not good.
google avatar

Ana A.

Yelp
The outdoor patio here is absolutely amazing. I came down to Houston for a weekend visiting from Austin and was able to have drinks with my friends and the sunshine on the patio and play cornhole. There is over 50 beers on top and many outdoor and indoor TVs for watching the games. We were watching UT play in the big 12 tournament for March madness. They have crawfish available for a reasonable price in the spring...It's in a great spot in midtown and I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Ariana S.

Yelp
We had a great time here ! The server was attentive and the bartender was very patient with us when we were so indecisive on what we wanted to drink, haha! The atmosphere was amazing on a Saturday and the music was right on. I will definitely come back when I'm in town again :-)
google avatar

Myrna H.

Yelp
Training is clearly lacking evident by inability to recognize valid IDs. They will not be getting my business anymore. Truly embarrassing when I bring in friends from out of state for what we expect is to be a good night.
google avatar

Steven G.

Yelp
This place is a go-to for me and my buds. Plenty of seating, outdoor/indoor, lots of TV's for sporting events. The ambience is right where it needs to be, not too bougie, but not an average sports bar by any means. The turtle races are very popular and get the patrons involved with fun bets for shots. The service is fairly quick at the table though I prefer to go to the bar and order, (gotta get my steps in). The location on Brazos is great. We always find cheap parking and start at Woodrow's, and hop many other midtown spots before landing back at Woodrow's to close out.

A A.

Yelp
Go on a Thursday night. This is a grade A+ bar. Will be featured in some rankings of the Top Bar in the Country if it is not already. I hope once it gets huge it doesn't lose it's charm

Jen T.

Yelp
The outdoor atmosphere is all they have going for them .... Have been there many times hoping the service will get better ... Never happens ... terrible ... always looking for the wait staff , always needing a drink or to close out .... It's a disaster ...
google avatar

Tasfia A.

Yelp
Came here recently for the UT v. LSU watch party and it was a ton of fun! The place was packed and now I know why this seems to be the go-to for football watch parties. The bar is super spacious (lots of seating! Although it's still tough to find a spot on a game night!), there are lots of TVs around, and I really like how there are a few food trucks parked around (serving superrichsupercheesysuperdense food one can only appreciate when they need drunchies). Really enjoyed the atmosphere and I'll be around again soon.

Sam S.

Yelp
They decided me and some of my friends needed to be kicked out while they left the girls we were with inside the bars. The bartenders are creepy, every girl thought so, and the bar is nothing to die for. The guys at the bar stare at girls like they are Christmas gifts, and allow them no privacy. We had one bartender sexually compliment a girl I was with and it was completely inappropriate. Little woodrows is not a place to bring ladies you care about, and is not worth it especially if you value personal security. They inspire fear in young women and promote an atmosphere of non-caring mysoginists.
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
My first time here was during the last Rockets/Warriors game, so needless to say it was incredibly packed. I'm not sure how much seating is normally available, but I felt like everyone (over 100+ people) had a place to sit or at least comfortably watch the game from the dozens of TVs. The atmosphere is very chill and the bouncer did his job perfectly - no snobbish attitude or glances to "approve" of your attire. At the bar, we were served very quickly and the drinks are pretty dang cheap! $5.50 for beers and my cocktail was right under $8. With the money saved on drinks, you'll have enough to spend on some Korean/Mexican fusion food truck munchies. And to top things off, there's a designated self-serve area with lots of plastic cups and 3 taps for water!

Scott G.

Yelp
Astros in the championship but show the UT game on the main screen???? Manager claims they are paid by UT to feature their games. Are we in Austin or are we in Houston??
