A friend saw my previous review of Little Woodrow's on 6th(LW) and was disappointed. "Dude you write a 7 paragraph expose on the godforsaken Coyote Ugly but only 5 sentences on the place you spent the last four years of your life at? WTF? Share the knowledge!"
Fine man, this is for you. I am writing this at Little Woodrow's. Sunday night 8/12/07 8:33pm. First off it is true, I love Little Woodrow's. Don's Summer of Fun 2007 tour has probably made 60 stops there, including a record breaking 23 straight nights! (Don't judge me) Once as I was standing on a couch, trying to plug my laptop in a socket way up on the wall, the manager "W" came up to me and said, "You know, this isn't actually your living room right?" "W" is the main manager, I think of all the LWS in Austin. He's a good guy. He promised to stage a "Norm" event for me. You know Norm from Cheers. I'll walk in and everyone will go, "DON!" I'll say, "Evening everybody."
BARTENDER - What's new, Don?
Don - Terrorists, They've taken over my stomach.
They're demanding beer.

If that ever happens, I think I could go easy after it. Being Norm is really all I ever wanted to be. (Seriously, quit judging me)
Ok here is the scoop, the lowdown, the real deal.....
No liquor - it is a beer and wine joint. In Texas it is a separate license to served mixed beverages and LW doesn't have that license. It is based on the old Texas Icehouses from East Texas. There they would have beer, wine and setups usually. No setups at LW though.
No food - at the 6th street location. They do have steak nights Wednesday nights. But as of today that is it. They have a menu book at the bar, you look up places close by and places that deliver and order food. I always just go to the Wahoo tacos around the corner.
Draft Beers - They have 27 taps. I think a couple of them are cider though. Hold on - lemme check.....
Don: Hey "M"! (Bartender) How many ciders on tap?
"M": Just the one.
Don: Ok thanks.
So 26 beers on tap, they change I think but here is what they have as of tonight. From left to right:
Bass, Guinness, Harp, Boddingtons, New Castle Brown Ale, Bud Light, Blanche de Bruxelles, Widmer, Spaten Munich, Shiner Bock, Miller Lite, Dos Equis, Hocher Store (sp?), Heineken, Stella Artois, Amstel Light, Ace Cider, ......wait for it.....LONE STAR!..., Pyramid Apricot, Fireman's 4, Sunshine, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Fat Tire, Austin Amber, Pilsner Urquel, Fucking Ziegen Bock crap, and Blue moon.
They got 19 different wines at least, 375ml bottles of champagne, a Dom Perignon special $150.00 with free peanuts, and for the true Connoisseur...bottles of Boone's farm.
Plus they have at least 30 beers in the bottle. If you like bottled beer ask for a bucket of beers I think they are cheaper. I dunno I always drink draft. (See pictures of bottles in photo section)
They will make the beer of your choice into a Michelada, which is like a bloody mary with beer. I don't like em unless I'm on a beach in Mexico, but some folks like em.
LW also has a frozen mimosa machine. They are quite refreshing, and pack a little bit of a wallop.
Smokes are $1000 a pack. ($7.00 really)
SPECIALS: I took a picture of their current specials and put it up in the photo section but here is what you need to know:
SUNDAY- After 7pm anything on the wall $2.50 - that is right all drafts $2.50.
MONDAY - All Texas beers $3.00.
TUESDAY - Big ass beer night (BABN) - Select beers served in 23oz tall glasses. Different prices but lone star is $2.00.
WEDNESDAY - Steak Night - A really excellent steak and a baked potato - I think it is $15.00 though.
THURSDAY - Giant Mug Night (GMNY) $4.00 25 oz mugs of selected beers.
STAFF- The entire bar tending and wait staff is female. I call them the Lovely Ladies of Little Woodrow's or LloW. Pronounced l-o-l-dub. They are the prettiest, sweetest ladies probably in the world. A really eclectic group, but what they all have in common is they are hot, nice, fun and really good at their jobs. Which is bringing you beer. I truly love them all. When they leave or move on, I usually cry.
There was one male bartender there, a badass musician who left to go back to NYC to pursue his career. Listen to his stuff here http://www.myspace.com/joepresti. I'm proud to know him.
The managers and the doorstaff are cool too, and the barbacks are probably the hardest working men in show business.
Sports is always on, I think they have 10 TVs total. If your game isn't on, just ask the manager. They will work with ya. They have a megatouch 2007.5 crackmachine on the bar, 1 Silver Strike 2007, and two Golden Tee Lives. Plus they have darts in the back, bring your own, or ask the bartender.
So come on over to my living room, grab a beer and watch a game. Holler out for Don and say hi. But then leave me alone, I'm probably busy yelping.
