The 19 Best Wine Shops for Texas Wines in Austin | Eater Austin

"It’s in the name: This downtown tasting room is dedicated to all things boozy made in Texas. That naturally means a nice wide range of Texas wines, including many already named on this map, plus Kuhlman Cellars and Ron Yates Wines. In-person tastings, glasses, and bottles are available; pickup bottle orders can be placed online." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Really cool spot and great customer service. Awesome vibe that seems to come from the employees themselves. My favorite bar in Austin. One taco, the food truck on property is delicious and fair price

Vickie Joyner

Google
Awesome drinks, great place to watch your favorite game with your pup on the patio.

Google
I'm giving this place a negative one if that were an option. This location hires and enables racist behavior, which sadly doesn't surprise me coming from an Austin spot. We tried to order a drink, and the bartender acted as if that was a crime. When I realized she was making racist remarks, I calmly told her I didn't want her as our server. In response, she had us kicked out. There were five of us three white and two Black individuals. Conveniently, only the two Black people were removed, even though my friend hadn’t said a single word. That speaks volumes. Woodrow’s enables racism, and I will be making sure people are aware not just through this review, but across other platforms as well. We have multiple witnesses who can confirm what happened.

Google
Our company was hosting a happy hour here so we stopped by to hang out with our coworkers. Little Woodrow's was able to accommodate everyone given how big the space was. Everyone was spread out and it was easy to move around. Cocktails here are okay but can't complaint given the price point. We got a Long Island Ice Tea ($11), AMF, and Cosmopolitan. The first two was not bad but the Cosmo tasted terrible so avoid that one.

Google
Had a great time at little Woodrow’s with friends. We didn’t eat but I gave food a five star. Chill location, bartender remembered our name and orders. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

Google
Run of the mill bar on downtowns west end, nothing special here and slightly overpriced for what's on offer. Ex frat boy vibes and sub par ambiance make this place less inviting. Could be good for watching sports and having a beer but thats about it.

Mike and Lori Lewis

Google
Great place. They had a crawfish boil going on when we were there yesterday which was awesome. You had to go to the bar for drinks but they were plenty fast. Good vibe.

Google
Will charge 20% automatically to any bill because the owners will not pay there workers over 3 dollars. It’s the owner responsibility to pay there workers not our. Would rate 0 stars if I could.

Yelp
Stopped by for a beer and catch a ball game, the world series. Was surprised to see the low turnout. Probably TX didn't qualify to the world series? Not sure. Yankees did sure make a come-back in this match. The place was super spacious, had outdoor seating with lights and TVs everywhere. Great selection of beer and game of darts. Fun place to be with friends.

Yelp
This sports bar has good vibes for socializing. We did note the prices were higher than expected for an Austin sports bar. The only cider they had on draft was the original Austin Eastcider, so I got a glass of it for over $8. My friends got their cocktails, and they complained about the price. They got the frozen woody, which was reportedly okay, and the watermelon colada, which was "delicious but expensive." Apparently the men's bathroom has a toilet with no stall around it. That's like negative 10000 aura for this bar because that sounds nightmare inducing. Thus, I must drop my rating significantly.

Yelp
Basic bar - no wine which is common (carp can wine), good service. Taco truck is decent.

Yelp
Little Woodrow's is a fun sports bar with plenty of space and dog-friendly vibes. This is THE spot for sports when you're on West Sixth--open, lively, and perfect for people-watching. If you're hungry, they have a One Taco food truck.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice chill bar with live band and a nice massive patio section. Good place to meet up or just grab drinks to have a good time.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great outdoor bar with cheap drinks and good service. There's fans on the patio and they spray water so it's pretty cool even in the summer. Great if you like to bring your dog out with you. Always a good vibes and it fills up on weekends. I've been coming here for years before moving away from Texas and it was nice to return to the same great place.

Jess L.

Yelp
Worst bar on 6th. My husband and I came in after a Texas longhorns game claims I was too " intoxicated " according to the manager Tristan and this guy in a blue shirt was very rude and disrespectful. I am pregnant and can not drink and was still now allowed in is crazy.
google avatar

Krystal J.

Yelp
Our Friday evening was an awesome time! Bar is indoor and outdoors. They have the misting fans (ideal with this heat) and the band PDA was great , had the crowd rockin'. Good music and they had the sports highlights on. Without a doubt visiting again!
google avatar

Reggie T.

Yelp
Spent a few nights here with the fellas last weekend. Awesome live music every night. Shout out to Rylan and the rest of the team for putting on a great party! All of our bartenders were great. Will be back.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Fun game day with the gang! Bunch of tvs! Good prices on alcohol. Not overpriced like some bars.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Came to watch the World Cup Finals here. It was a beautiful day to be out on their patio and enjoy a few drinks. Mimosa carafe was $28 . A little high for my liking, buuut oh well I suppose. Great atmosphere, smoking outside is ok and they even have a taco truck if you get hungry! Fun bar to watch sports and hang out :)
google avatar

Yelp
The Pineapple Paloma is terrible. The gin tonic is probably only tonic. Beers are safe enough. The vibe is kind of ordinary Would not really recommend. The bathrooms are filthy.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped into Little Woodrow's for late night drinks. Service was fast and friendly. The outside seating patio is huge--overall it was a good experience.

Dee W.

Yelp
Horrible bitchy staff. Star Bar across street way better. No volume for any football game on Sunday, but Seahawks! Taco truck good, though.
google avatar

Jingwei K.

Yelp
Great sports bar with plenty of outdoor seating right on 6th street. We stopped by after the Champion's League final to catch some of the UFC fights. There's several TVs surrounding the space playing different sports, so there's something for everyone. If you're with a big group and don't mind bottled beers, you can order a bucket for cheaper!

Mike T.

Yelp
This place is a very solid go to bar. We visit from Cali often and stay down the street. The service is unbeatable. The bartenders remember us we we come back in town. Miley and Valerie are amazing awesome!!!! All the locals we have met are very nice. They even have a local giant pit bull that comes in and is SUPER friendly.
google avatar

Jesus C.

Yelp
Fun spot to meet up with your friends. Lots of space and fast bar service. This nite they had a dj that was bumpin some great jams. I've been to Several Little Woodrow's and they all seem to be really fun!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Great bar for outdoor drinks in a fun atmosphere! The bar is mostly a massive outdoor space, with plenty of tables and chairs. There are also multiple bars throughout the space, and the bartenders are friendly and efficient. And there's a very tasty taco truck attached to the bar to satisfy drunken taco cravings. A very solid spot for casual beers in a fun environment.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
I have been to Little Woodrows in south Austin which I am not a fan of but this location was way better. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor has heat lamps and a cover. There are tons of TV for viewing and most people were enjoying the football game on a Saturday night. Most people were enjoying tacos from the food truck but you also had the option of getting other food from across the street (Via 313). I will not the music was super loud and they played very old-school music from the 90s and early 2000s music.
google avatar

Trevor B.

Yelp
Awesome spot for beer and football! Taco truck is easy and quick if you are hungry for food. Fun spot
google avatar

Yelp
Best bar in town...absolutely gentleman run this place. Incredible service and stand up crowd here. Can't say enough
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
Rude and unprofessional "Event Coordinator". Annoyed I inquired about spending thousands of dollars at their venue to host a group for a birthday. Don't bother.
google avatar

Dayna G.

Yelp
The last time we were at LW's is in the summer of 2014. We were out with some family members and had a blast. The drinks were flowing...the actual bar was inviting and exciting. The bartenders were kick a$$! My recollection is that the bill was super reasonable. I do recall the parking being challenging but not challenging enough to stop us from going in. Back then that area wasn't as congested as it is today. We definitely will return once Covid subsides.... No complaints; nothing to report bad. LW is a great bar venue.
google avatar

Cole A.

Yelp
I dare you to poop in the guys bathroom. Also, this place is dope and as a bonus, there is a guy named Glen that works there and gives free foot rubs. Go. Drink beer. Experience a Glen massage. Enjoy your life. That's all.
google avatar

Sarudzai C.

Yelp
The white male bouncer with medium curly brown hair and a beard refused to let me inside the club because I had a loud voice. Even though I had clarified that I was sober he still refused to let in. I believe the fact that I'm an African American woman with a "loud" voice gave this man enough of an excuse to not let me in. This is absolutely not acceptable. I will never EVER return to this bar ever again.
google avatar

Carolyn A.

Yelp
Open air sports bar right on 6th. Lots of outside space with tv coverage. Downside is drinks are pricey, and staffing short for the table #s. Plan to travel on foot or other public transport parking is rare and $$.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
My husband and I came here while on vacation so he could watch the fight on Saturday night. The place was pretty packed but we were able to find 2 seats and see the TVs well. The staff is super friendly and they have quick service. The guys were constantly walking around clear tables and wiping down the tables as I watched several groups come and go. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Dre G.

Yelp
Great bar. Super cold inside great for escaping the heat. The beer is cheap and the pizza is delicious. They do hold your card to start a tab but other than that great spot
google avatar

Jamie P.

Yelp
This place is wonderful for Sunday football viewing! The atmosphere is fun and they allow dogs. They have plenty of tv screens, a taco truck on site, and decently priced drinks. They have a variety of games on and even when they couldn't get one on the tv for us, they put it on the speakers. At least the tried! The waitresses are friendly and service is quick. We'll definitely be back for more Sunday football and drinks!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Okay okay okay listen up everyone. if you happen to go to little woodrows on 6th street, make sure to ask for Coco. She is the best bartender ever!!! So nice, thoughtful, helpful, and efficient. Nothing more, just amazing!!!
google avatar

Kassidy E.

Yelp
This is a very cool bar located in downtown Austin. They have a taco truck and a very large selection of drinks. The prices are very good. The tacos from the truck were very tasty. The salsa was extremely spicy but very good.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
Really cool spot to watch Sunday NFL football. The outdoor area is great, and there are no shortages of TVs. The food truck seems to be the only option for food which is tough because your options are very limited. Considering games kickoff at Noon, this was perfect for the first half, but we ended up leaving for another bar with a full food menu around halftime of the early slate. Awesome drinking spot that i imagine is a blast on a super nice day
google avatar

Niguel B.

Yelp
Went in for some tacos. Tacos were great. Got a beer. Bartender was stand-offish and unfriendly. At one point my friend got sick and I checked on her by calling for her outside the woman's bathroom. I was aggressively confronted by a little blond bartender for opening the door to the woman's bathroom. She knocked my full glass of beer out my hand and kicked me out like I was Jeffery Epstein trying to enter a daycare. Worst experience. I hope that bartender slips on a lime and falls on the shattered glass of the beer she knocked out my hand.
google avatar

Dee R.

Yelp
I don't even know how this is excusable.... it's 9:30pm on a Sunday... i didn't want to be that jerk asking for the manager but I'm glad I did! They said it was an "accident" and fixed my bill down to $5 (price of drink, no discount, which is fine). I didn't get an apology and the manager tried to play this off as if we were friends. I don't know these people and they tried to charge me $40 for a well drink. I understand I'm young and drinking but I expect basic decency. Once I accidentally spoke to the manager, my bill was fixed..... but how many tipsy people have been screwed over by this bull?
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
First of all, if you are a Seahawks fan like me, GO HERE!! They have a great little food truck attached called "One Taco" which has really good food, and Little Woodrows definitely has a great selection of draft beers (in two separate bars that you can grab it from) along with a great environment. The staff is super friendly and remembers you if you come in often which makes it a fun place to go. I don't come here a ton outside of Sundays for gameday, so I can't give too much advice on whether or not it is the place to go on other evenings

Billy T.

Yelp
Way too many TVs. Is there any seat for people who don't want a bright flashing screen in front of their face?

Crystal S.

Yelp
The music was good, and the drinks were good and strong. Now the food was nothing to brag on.
google avatar

Garrett F.

Yelp
Gotta get the tacos! Probably about the best tacos I've ever had. Bar area is great lots of outdoor seating. Bartenders really kind and fun!

Yelp
Man, this place used to be a favorite but now ..... I don't plan on going back . It's too bad for such a great patio and location , the bartender was downright miserable . The only star is for the patio! We walked up and there were 2 people at the bar , bartender Shelby and clearly a regular . We were not welcomed at all , just asked "how can I help y'all?" It was a stale offer and it was apparent this girl was not Interested in new business. I wanted to leave as soon as we got there ... The conversation between bartender and regular continued on in a very negative tone the entire time we were there! Negative negative negative about everything from SXSW to Texas relays and the need to carry a gun and /or mace . Now, I totally get being burned out after a long 2 weeks of out of towners (I was a bartender for 15 years in Vegas and austin) but what a buzz kill . I understand the relationship between regulars and bartenders as much as the next person but this place and the attitude is just miserable . No way to spend a relaxing Sunday !!
google avatar

Monica T.

Yelp
Probably one of the most disappointing places. The bartender was terrible and there was only 4-5 other people there.

Serena K.

Yelp
HORRIBLE service! The bartender (older red head) cut us off after I got 2 shots..and my friend 2 shots and one drink...30 min before close. Didn't come in loud and drunk? If you wanted to go home early just say so girl and I would've respected it. Would never recommend this place!!! Came cause it was the only open!

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. My (Hispanic) boyfriend went and had 1 drink and was 1/4 through a beer (after his 1st drink) and got cut off. The reason the bartender cut him off was because he was "rude." I was right near my boyfriend, as were other people and we heard nothing, but the bartender (with trashy eyelashes, makeup, and outfit) claimed he said "fuck off." He in fact did not say that and I have never know him to use that kind of language (especially towards women) . Coming from a white individual, DO NOT go there if you have any melanin! There is a better option in San Antonio for this same bar. I do want to say that the managers were kind about this situation and hopefully we can rectify this issue speaking to the people above them. If you had the choice, take your hard earned money to fast Eddie's which is across the street from this establishment.
google avatar

Selena K.

Yelp
I like that they had a bar in the middle of the city where you could sit outside and enjoy everything that's going on. They did also have space heaters but not too many. There is also a covered outdoor area but no heaters under those. They have tons of tvs so a perfect place to watch a game. The indoor part of the bar is tiny. Definitely don't go there if you want to be inside. From what I saw there was no lawn games like other Little Woodrow's like cornhole. I think I did see a ring game but that was all. They have multiple bars however during the day only the inside one was open. I loved the vibe though, really chill and perfect to be in the feel of Austin. The best part was the food truck there One Taco. This is the only food there in comparison to the ones in San Antonio with full menus. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Darian D.

Yelp
Sunday funday, 80s music, fans with misters. Perfect for people watching. If you want to shake your booty to 80s music with a frozé in hand, this is the place to go!
google avatar

Gillian W.

Yelp
Loved stopping in here before Covid, sure do miss them! always loved the service and ambience. I'm not sure if they are open again yet, I would assume no, since a lot of downtown things aren't open but hope to get back there some day.. sigh
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
I love it when live music is in the house . It makes the experience at Little Woodrow's even better . The crowd connects with the music and the fun begins. The staff works so hard to serve the customers and do not seem overwhelmed . My wife and Have seemed Little Woodrow's as our fun destination
google avatar

Trip S.

Yelp
Best bar in Austin. I come here for football games, hinge dates, post bike ride beers, and sometimes just to talk to the cool ass staff. Prettiest bartenders downtown, coolest management. Or prettiest management, coolest bartenders. It's all about perspective.
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
Had a great time this weekend watching both pay-per-view events of the UFC and Boxing. Great atmosphere. Good prices on drinks and the foot truck was awesome. On a cold night, it was nice they had heaters pretty much everywhere. Tv's also everywhere you could look.
google avatar

Don R.

Yelp
A friend saw my previous review of Little Woodrow's on 6th(LW) and was disappointed. "Dude you write a 7 paragraph expose on the godforsaken Coyote Ugly but only 5 sentences on the place you spent the last four years of your life at? WTF? Share the knowledge!" Fine man, this is for you. I am writing this at Little Woodrow's. Sunday night 8/12/07 8:33pm. First off it is true, I love Little Woodrow's. Don's Summer of Fun 2007 tour has probably made 60 stops there, including a record breaking 23 straight nights! (Don't judge me) Once as I was standing on a couch, trying to plug my laptop in a socket way up on the wall, the manager "W" came up to me and said, "You know, this isn't actually your living room right?" "W" is the main manager, I think of all the LWS in Austin. He's a good guy. He promised to stage a "Norm" event for me. You know Norm from Cheers. I'll walk in and everyone will go, "DON!" I'll say, "Evening everybody." BARTENDER - What's new, Don? Don - Terrorists, They've taken over my stomach. They're demanding beer. http://www.netjeff.com/humor/item.cgi?file=Normisms If that ever happens, I think I could go easy after it. Being Norm is really all I ever wanted to be. (Seriously, quit judging me) Ok here is the scoop, the lowdown, the real deal..... No liquor - it is a beer and wine joint. In Texas it is a separate license to served mixed beverages and LW doesn't have that license. It is based on the old Texas Icehouses from East Texas. There they would have beer, wine and setups usually. No setups at LW though. No food - at the 6th street location. They do have steak nights Wednesday nights. But as of today that is it. They have a menu book at the bar, you look up places close by and places that deliver and order food. I always just go to the Wahoo tacos around the corner. Draft Beers - They have 27 taps. I think a couple of them are cider though. Hold on - lemme check..... Don: Hey "M"! (Bartender) How many ciders on tap? "M": Just the one. Don: Ok thanks. So 26 beers on tap, they change I think but here is what they have as of tonight. From left to right: Bass, Guinness, Harp, Boddingtons, New Castle Brown Ale, Bud Light, Blanche de Bruxelles, Widmer, Spaten Munich, Shiner Bock, Miller Lite, Dos Equis, Hocher Store (sp?), Heineken, Stella Artois, Amstel Light, Ace Cider, ......wait for it.....LONE STAR!..., Pyramid Apricot, Fireman's 4, Sunshine, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Fat Tire, Austin Amber, Pilsner Urquel, Fucking Ziegen Bock crap, and Blue moon. They got 19 different wines at least, 375ml bottles of champagne, a Dom Perignon special $150.00 with free peanuts, and for the true Connoisseur...bottles of Boone's farm. Plus they have at least 30 beers in the bottle. If you like bottled beer ask for a bucket of beers I think they are cheaper. I dunno I always drink draft. (See pictures of bottles in photo section) They will make the beer of your choice into a Michelada, which is like a bloody mary with beer. I don't like em unless I'm on a beach in Mexico, but some folks like em. LW also has a frozen mimosa machine. They are quite refreshing, and pack a little bit of a wallop. Smokes are $1000 a pack. ($7.00 really) SPECIALS: I took a picture of their current specials and put it up in the photo section but here is what you need to know: SUNDAY- After 7pm anything on the wall $2.50 - that is right all drafts $2.50. MONDAY - All Texas beers $3.00. TUESDAY - Big ass beer night (BABN) - Select beers served in 23oz tall glasses. Different prices but lone star is $2.00. WEDNESDAY - Steak Night - A really excellent steak and a baked potato - I think it is $15.00 though. THURSDAY - Giant Mug Night (GMNY) $4.00 25 oz mugs of selected beers. STAFF- The entire bar tending and wait staff is female. I call them the Lovely Ladies of Little Woodrow's or LloW. Pronounced l-o-l-dub. They are the prettiest, sweetest ladies probably in the world. A really eclectic group, but what they all have in common is they are hot, nice, fun and really good at their jobs. Which is bringing you beer. I truly love them all. When they leave or move on, I usually cry. There was one male bartender there, a badass musician who left to go back to NYC to pursue his career. Listen to his stuff here http://www.myspace.com/joepresti. I'm proud to know him. The managers and the doorstaff are cool too, and the barbacks are probably the hardest working men in show business. Sports is always on, I think they have 10 TVs total. If your game isn't on, just ask the manager. They will work with ya. They have a megatouch 2007.5 crackmachine on the bar, 1 Silver Strike 2007, and two Golden Tee Lives. Plus they have darts in the back, bring your own, or ask the bartender. So come on over to my living room, grab a beer and watch a game. Holler out for Don and say hi. But then leave me alone, I'm probably busy yelping.
