"San Gabriel—New to Hilton Plaza is the second location of Liu Roast Fish. The menu, shared with their City of Industry location, features different seasonings for pan-roasted fish named after West Coast cities (Seattle, San Francisco and L.A.). Skewers and appetizers are also available. It replaces The Memory, a Sichuan restaurant that was a branch of Alhambra’s The Legendary." - Jim Thurman

This place serves some of the best grilled fish I’ve ever had! The fish is tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, with a rich and slightly spicy broth that’s packed with depth. The combination of green and red chili peppers, sesame seeds, and various side ingredients makes every bite delicious. The portion size is generous, and the flavors stay amazing until the last bite. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone who loves grilled fish—definitely a must-try!

I came here having heard of their reputation of good roast fish, but didn’t expect them to have great skewers as well! The fish menu was really good. I ordered “mild” spicy and I could still cope with it just fine. The skewers have low salt options. They have the silk worm too. I grew up eating this and it’s not easy to find it in the US. The servers are very friendly and happy, pretty rare in this era!

. Perfect service and perfect food . We came here for a family meal, and it was an amazing experience! The food came out incredibly fast and was packed with flavor. There’s a lot of unique meat options on the menu, which made the meal even more enjoyable and memorable. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic.

Liu Roast Fish is an absolute gem! The grilled fish here is cooked to perfection – tender, flavorful, and with just the right amount of char. The spice levels are customizable, so whether you prefer mild or fiery, they’ve got you covered. The side dishes were equally impressive, especially the garlic eggplant and crispy tofu. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you’re a fan of authentic Chinese grilled fish, this place is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommended!

This was my first time trying grilled Chinese fish and I loved every aspect of it. It was very easy to order and customize the type of fish, spiciness, and toppings, on the tablet. We ordered the Qing Jiang fish with tripe in two flavors: Liu’s Homestyle (Hot) and Golden Soup Garlic (Medium). The colors were no indication of the spice but I would recommend at least the hot spiciness level if you’re a spice lover. I ended up loving Liu’s Homestyle more and regretted not adding more toppings. They tuck it under the fish so that it absorbs all the flavor and marinates in the sauce for as long as possible. I also loved that the fish was piping hot at all times since it was served over a flame the whole time. I was really craving a scallion pancake but it turned out to be just alright. It was pretty doughy and there was no flakiness. I didn’t try the other two entrees of beef noodle soup and steamed milk buns but I was told they were just alright. Based on my experience of the fish alone though, I loved it.

The place is amazing. We’re a foodie blog called hungryladyla and to be honest we were not expecting too much. We knew it was gonna be good, but oh lord did we love every single plate we were offered. For us the desserts were the winners of the night

I can't believe it took me six years to discover Liu Roast Fish! This spacious restaurant is beautifully decorated and has authentic Sichuan cuisine. Ordering from the iPad was a breeze, and our dishes arrived within minutes. The House Special Qing Jiang Fish was a standout packed with plenty of vegetables and, to our surprise, Spam!! We opted for the mild sweet and sour sauce, which had just the right amount of heat without being too spicy. The lamb and beef skewers were equally impressive, perfectly seasoned and utterly addictive. Their fried rice was so fluffy and the noodles were great too. I can't wait to come back and explore more of their menu!

One of the best fried fish in town, their fish was very flavorful and not dry. The staffs were friendly and service was fast. Also their skewers were on point with other stores. One of their special is having two flavors, satisfy both spicy and non spicy perfect for groups that don’t like spicy and one loves spicy and can still share.
