A handy outpost of a popular breads place! I’ve only visited once but enjoyed their smaller menu which made it easier to know what to try. A single raisin cookie was both crisp and chewy which was a nice treat! I’m told their other location is open shorter hours but has more food options. Outdoor seating which includes table umbrellas made this a nice place to sit for a while.

The tuna sandwich is the perfect blend of salty tuna, light mayo and pickles! My favorite by far. The chocolate croissant was described by a friend as being “the best thing I’ve ever eaten”; she’s wrong I think the best thing I’ve ever eaten is the almond croissant…and the brownie and the “egg sandwich” and EVERYHING ELSE THEY SELL! They have two locations that I visit: the mall at short hills and the bigger store in Millburn!

Charming outpost - plenty of outdoor seating, smaller menu of pastries, drinks, and snacks, some bread for purchase after 2pm (when the bakery closes)

Yelp
Liv is a fantastic local staple! Our bakery favorites include: - the chocolate graham babka which is deliciously sweet and moist. And it freezes well so if you want to save one in your freezer, it can be perfectly thawed and taste fresh 30 mins later. - the Scandinavian loaf, a dense seeded loaf which is amazing warmed up slightly with a little pat of butter on top Also amazing is the fact that Liv has done some serious expansions and now has a great indoor seating area, hot brunch food, pizza, and more in addition to their standard fare of coffees, teas, and pastries.

Yelp
Very popular bakery! The Blueberry Financier is off the charts. Buttery, fresh fruity, moist cake like with a crusted bottom, it looks like a truncated cone (yes I looked it up and that's the correct term for this shape for a cylinder that's slightly larger base on one end, LOL). I had to go back a second time because it's that good! There's a lemon poppy version too that is also yum. The Chocolate Graham Babka is a dense braided circular loaf with chocolate smears mixed in. It wasn't too sweet, maybe not sweet enough for me. Babka fans should enjoy this interation. The Expresso Chocolate Chip cookies were crispy like a familiar Southampton, NY favorite that you see in grocery stores. There was a strong coffee flavor with each bite. I also got the Iced Chai but I'd skip this in the future. The flavor was too watered down. If I do come back I'll ask for an expresso hit in the chai. There's a pretty steady stream of customers for good reason. Both times I visited I was on a line with 10-12 people ahead of me. The staff do move quickly to fulfill your order and get you on your way quickly. If customers did the same, ordered attentively and decisively it would move faster as well :-). There is enough parking across the street in the municipal lot.

Yelp
While visiting my friends on the East Coast over the holidays, they brought me for breakfast to Liv Breads and I was absolutely blown away. After placing our order at the counter, we went and found a place to sit. To start, I had ordered a classic vanilla latte with oat milk. It was so smooth and creamy and had the perfect subtle sweetness to it. For my food, I could not resist ordering the shakshuka. It was served with not one but two entire mini loaves of bread! One was a harder baguette while the other was a very soft, almost challah-like bread. The sauce had the perfect spice level to it and the entire dish from start to finish was phenomenal. To finish off, I ordered one of their large chocolate chip cookies. When I say this is one of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had in my life, I mean it. So do yourself a favor and come to Liv Breads if you find yourself in the area.

Yelp
My mom and I stumbled upon Liv Breads while driving through Millburn, and we're so glad we did! We decided to split the breakfast platter, and it was absolutely perfect for a light morning snack. The platter included Challah, scrambled eggs, cheeses, spreads, vegetables, and tuna--a delightful variety of fresh and flavorful bites. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the portion size was just right for sharing. The cozy atmosphere and the smell of freshly baked bread made the experience even better. Liv Breads is a gem, and we can't wait to stop by again the next time we're in the area!

Yelp
Love such gourmet bakeries where they make an effort to not only bake but make it top notch with some known and some new savory sandwiches and sweet treats . Every visit has been memorable trying new things and ogling at other things to take home and try the next time . Orange cake is my staple dessert a must have if you visit this spot. Love their savory sandwiches and salads , particularly their tuna salad. Croissants and coffee is a class of its own. They are quick and effective in managing long lines . It used to be tight in space but recently they have expanded their dining area which is much larger now. They have a special lunch menu coming up. Live breads need's no special referral or mention as their food speaks for itself . A perfect haunt to spend a lazy tasty Sunday !

Yelp
This place LIVes up to the hype! Sorry, no more puns, I promise. Everything from the space, to the bites to the coffee was incredible. The staff moved the line quickly and the team came around often to clear anything off of my table. My oat milk latte hit the spot on an afternoon when a little caffiene was very needed. I love when you can get your drink in a nice glass when you are staying, makes it justttt a little better. I also trying the rugelach, because I had never had one before and my Polish Jewish grandma was sending me signs to finally give it a go. Delicious!! Loved that it was so dense and packed with chocolate. It was so much more decadent than a croissant and I can't wait for another. I also gave their bread a try and it's definitely very good sourdough. If I lived closer, this would be in the rotation for the weekly loaf. I had a work meeting here and can confidently say, the space was perfect for it. The wifi was strong and it has a lot of seating, so we didn't feel like we were crowded or speaking too loudly. I would love to make this a regular in the work from home/cafe routine! Always happy to discover new cafes in the area! Happy to have finally tried Liv's.

Yelp
Cute bakery in the center of town. Convenient location and parking. We did takeout but plenty of open seating indoors and outdoors. Fast service and a HUGE selection of pastries. I loved their matcha latte - the perfect amount of creamy. Will definitely be back to try more of their pastries and actual menu items!

Yelp
Cute place. Israeli based on some of the menu offerings. The vibe is nice. Breads look amazing - although being gluten free I couldn't try them. There were a few gluten free options but I didn't go for them. You have to ask staff what they have because things aren't labeled as gluten free so you wouldn't know they have them. I got a latte, which came with a cookie (not gf). I have the cookie to my mom :) Coffee was good, just pricey. Actually, everything was more expensive than what I am used to. At least $1 more for coffees. $20 for an omelette with vegetables. There is indoor and outdoor seating and parking outside. Would I go there again? Probably not because I can't eat bread (their main attraction) and there are plenty of other coffee options nearby (hopefully cheaper). If you like, and can eat bread, I recommend it.

Yelp
We had passed by this store a few months ago and saw it had a heavy flow of customers. Today we noticed that they had expanded and added an extension for guests to dine in. In the summer they have a few tables outdoor. There was a line to enter today as well. The line moved fairly well. They do have a QR code where you can order ahead and skip making the line. My coffee was one of the best I have had. It was creamy and you could taste the coffee flavor. I paired it with a caprese sandwich which was also good. It tasted fresh. My son had a chocolate croissant. He has tasted many in different bakeries. He said this one was very tasty. I'll have to try it next time to verify.

Yelp
It is so easy to get in trouble in this place with all the goods they have. They are a bit pricey, but I haven't had anything here that was disappointing and I haven't been here in a while since they did the extension. It is nice to be able to have the option to enjoy breakfast indoors or outside weather permitting. They have a large variety of pastries , breakfast sandwiches and breads to choose from . My daughter loves the coffee options. Service is always pretty quick and everyone is friendly. So if you are walking around millburn earlier in the morning/ day it's definitely worth a try . Oh definitely grab a babka or challah bread .
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
Cute, little bakery in town. I was visiting friends in the neighborhood and wanted to bring them something. Thanks to the power of Yelp, I found this spot. I chose to get the babka for my friends but couldn't help but get a croissant, pain au chocolat, some bureakas, and a loaf of bread for myself lol. Everything looked so fresh and the samples provided was so tasty! Definitely a bit pricey, but the quality is amazing. The pastries were light and had the perfect amount of crunch from the lamination. The babka is popular for a reason. Airy with the right amount of sweetness and oh, so buttery. The staff is super friendly and patient. I can imagine lines can get long on the weekends and only street parking is available. Take advantage of their order ahead feature.

Stuart B.

Yelp
Very good but very expensive. Service was good more shocked with prices than anything else. Guess I've been away to long since shelves were almost empty

John W.

Yelp
Non-coffee items at Liv's are way too expensive! I've had the best bread and pastries from France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria for far less money than Liv's which were light years better. My last time at Liv's I bought a unique cardamom bread/babka ($20-$25) which was very average and disappointing. Okay place for unique coffees.

Yelp
Recommended: Absolutely, especially for artisanal pastry lovers. Overall: A standout bakery offering exceptional European pastries in a cozy, quick-service setting. Snapshot: Food: 5/5 Drink: NA Vibe: 4/5 Service: 4/5 ‍‍ Family-Friendly: 3/5 Highlights: -Perfect For: A quick stop for top-notch European-style baked goods -Don't Miss: The pan au chocolat -Bonus Tip: Ideal for grab-and-go, expect a small yet comfortable setting. All The Details: Discovering Liv Breads in Millburn was a true delight. This small café and bakery offers a sublime array of baked goods. While I usually base my score on the average of various factors, it's hard to give Liv Breads anything less than five stars for the sheer excellence of their pastries. Though I didn't sample the coffee, the baked goods alone were a standout. The pan au chocolat, in particular, is not to be missed, showcasing the artisanal skill and care in every product. The bakery has a few seats indoors and outdoors, but it's more of a grab-and-go spot, making it less suitable for families looking to linger. There's often a line, and prices are a bit higher, but the quality justifies it. In a region with plenty of traditional Italian bakeries, Liv Breads' high-end European pastries are a welcome and exceptional treat.

Yelp
The best bread and even baked goods around! I drive 30 minutes each way weekly to get my order. My kids love it as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
who doesnt like freshly baked bread? its bread and pastry paradise here at Liv and i especially enjoy their croissant - the chocolate specifically! its flaky, buttery and not too sweet! I hear the babkas are a must but i have yet to try them. They do look pretty enticing though. We've also tried their lattes here prior which was good but they recently only serve it until 2pm. They do still have brewed coffee and iced drinks which was good. Overall a great place for pastries and coffee especially if you get lucky finding street parking.

Michele B.

Yelp
Lovely bakery, great choices of sandwiches, kid friendly, great coffee and service. The decor is fun and the atmosphere is very nice.

Yelp
I really like how they've extended the Millburn location, allowing customers to dine in with a view of downtown Millburn. It's one of my favorite cafes for working or chatting with friends. The pastries are excellent, and the baristas and cashiers are polite and helpful.

Yelp
First time visiting this place.. I only ordered a cookie but it was delicious.. I'll definitely return to order other items on the menu.. The service was quick and staff were polite.. The atmosphere appeared chill and relaxing..
google avatar

Kell C.

Yelp
It's fast paced for food but they extended and have more seating! The food is always fresh and if you like fresh bread, the place has what you need. Probably also the easiest place to grab desserts and babkas. I usually grab the eggplant hummus. It's so good and any of their baked goods and hot foods are a great staple. Coffee here is good too, you won't die from the overloaded sugar from bigger named brands and you can taste the subtle flavor of just coffee.

Yelp
So glad I made my way to this bakery to try some goodies. It was so worth the trip. I noticed this place from seeing fellow yelp elites pictures and review. Added it to my bookmarks right away. Parking right across the street. Benches outside. Walked in about thirty min before closing. The energy I received was like if they just opened. Lovely staff, so friendly and nice. Store is super clean. Love the layout of all their packaged baked goods and also fresh. I came in knowing I wanted the chocolate croissant. It had good structure on the outside, so when you bite it didn't flatten but had great size air pockets inside that were filled w chocolate. Delicious! The toffee cinnamon bun looked so different. The server said are you sharing this? If so you should get 2. I should have listened bc I could have ate the whole thing myself. So good!! Sticky gooey inside with flakey airy cinnamon flavor. I need to get this again and dunk it into a coffee. Highly suggest !!!

Yelp
I've been a local for the past 3 years, but this was my first time here. I had their "Best Snack," which was very savory and the right portion. Plus the little cookies I received with my iced coffee were a nice touch. I guess the employees are just here to do their jobs, and nothing more; if you originally place your orders with someone who was by the sandwiches and salads, you have to repeat it to the cashier who may or may not be listening. The front of the place has a few seats, with more outside. However, if you need to use the bathroom, be prepared to walk by a few work stations in the open. The bathrooms were clean. If you can get past the quirks of this place, you enjoy their delicious selections! My friends also enjoyed their pastries! Re: Thank you, Yaniv for your response. While I appreciate that different employees have different responsibilities, a little coordination could go a long way when it comes to efficiency. Verbally communicating my order in the open is not reserved solely for just certain employees at one time. Perhaps both types should at least try to actively listen the first time. Thank you.

Varsha C.

Yelp
Family friendly , love their best snack , soups and breads. Very bad coffee . Everything here is overpriced , $12 /$13 for a loaf of bread , $6 for a financier. But if you live in summit and want decent breakfast you have no choice but to come here and pay such high prices and then you go broke and don't eat out for the rest of the month.
google avatar

Steph Y.

Yelp
From the outside, you see the line is so long but it is so worth the wait. Upon walking in, you can smell and see beautiful breads against the wall and of course the long line of people but it does move relatively quick :) They have amazing coffee, breads and pastries. I recently got the Olive sourdough bread, regular croissant, almond croissant and the chocolate croissant. Quality ingredients, great texture and I appreciated the fact that the pastries wasn't super sweet. I love how they give you a little treat bite when you order a coffee. Seating is very limited, we were not able to get one. Staff was super friendly. Can't wait to come back to try more items!

Yelp
Liv Breads is the premier bakery you're looking for. I especially love the craft that goes into their croissants - the folds and the crunch bring back memories of Paris - and their seasonally tuned menu brings out the best of their superb ingredients, making it exciting to discover whatever they have today. Despite the long Sunday lunchtime line, I had placed my order in 10 minutes. They had put out free samples of chocolate babka and sourdough bread with salted butter, which are accessible while you queue. A third tray I passed by had already been eaten clean. The sights and the flavors were overwhelming, so it was hard to restrict myself to only the olive sourdough, butter croissants, chocolate croissants, and granola. I also ordered an oat milk latte, which was made using Counter Culture beans. I have to say I think they offer espresso because it's expected of a bakery, and not because they know how to make a good one. The latte was sour and needed a few seconds longer to be rounded off.

Yelp
Lovely, delicious and great service! So much variety in such a small shop! I don't know that I've ever been to a place that had orange cake, basque cheesecake, labneh, fresh gazpacho and florentines all in one place. I tried to order as much as possible but would need to come back to try them all. Come to think of it don't know if I've ever seen orange cake in a bakery! Speaking of, it was moist and flavorful! Beauty of aesthetic and friendly staff!

Yelp
Went here on Christmas Eve. There was a long line of people picking up baked goods for the holidays but I just wanted to try a couple of their baked goods and coffee. I tried the Margherita's "Evil Sister" Focaccia, their chocolate almond croissant and coffee (wanted a latte but their espresso machine was off because they wanted to keep the line moving). The focaccia was delicious. They warmed it up for me and it which gave the crust a nice crisp. It had a light layer of slightly spiced tomato sauce and then was topped with melted cheese. My one critique is that I wish it had a little more sauce. The chocolate almond croissant was also very good. You could see the multiple layers of the laminated dough and the sliced almonds balanced the semi sweet chocolate nicely.

Yelp
OVERPRICED. Walked in to buy a tuna sandwhich, once I saw that it was $15 for a sandwhich (not even a sub) I quickly changed my mind and got the spinach and artichoke quiche ($7.50) the quiche was good, they didnt warm it up enough the center was still cold but it was tasty. I tried some of the sample of bread they had on the counter and they were also yummy but again when you see the price of some of these items you quickly think twice. I guess ill come back if I ever want to splurge on bread.

Yelp
If you ever find yourself in Downtown Millburn, I urge you to try Liv Breads! Liv Breads is a local Artisan Bakery. And boy do they deliver! Everything here is absolutely delicious and highly recommended. Especially their cookies. Their chocolate chip cookies are always delicious and sprinkled with sea salt. I highly recommend Liv Breads! Until next time friends! Enjoy the meal!
google avatar

Sheilah E.

Yelp
Always delicious and consistent! Its great that they extended as we can relax and enjoy more of its new offerings! Their chocolate babka is my goto for dinner invites! Such a staple in the community.

Yelp
Bakery knows how to bake! We occasionally go there they have great selection of quick food options and excellent pastry. İt may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Yelp
Amazing Babka. It's the best I've ever had. I cannot even describe how addicting it is. If you love chocolate this baba is a must. Too bad they don't have a location in NYC.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Came here for cookies I had seen in an email, but apparently they were just for Passover. I settled for a chocolate chip cookie and it was not settling at all! The cookie was delicious. Lots of chocolate chunks, chewy in the middle & crispy on the outside. I had half, and took the rest home. Had I not had a huge lunch I would've indulged more. Next time I'm going for a chocolate croissant and a big cappuccino. I sat at the bar facing the front windows and had a very nice dessert moment. The staff is friendly, and the shop is clean and modern. To get to the bathroom you need to walk through the bakery area towards the back and make a right. After leaving, I walked out of the store and made a right. There's a beautiful little creek, and an alleyway that was full of art. Check it out if you're around. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Liv bread pastries are alway worth the visit. They have great assortments of savory breads and sweets pastries. One thing that always entices me is their candies Orange sponge cake. Not to sweet, soft and moist in the same breath. I've also tried their green tea matcha cheese cake which is also very good. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

Yelp
I really really like this place!! As soon as you walked in you can smell the fresh bread and coffee.. thinking about it make me want to go back for more. Their croissant is exceptional!! have to try their chocolate almond croissant if you are not allergic to nut!! you will not regret it.. their chocolate babka is also another must try.. it's a little pricy, but you will love me after you try this one!! honestly, i haven't try their sandwiches or sit in to enjoy their coffee, i usually order on their app and pick up to go.. but they never disappoint!! always ready when i arrive, and the process is painless!! even with me making request in packing the pastry b/c i do have a nut allergy child at home, they always help me with me with everything i asked for!! even remind me every time that there might be a chance of cross contamination when i pick up!! so sweet of them!!! would always go back whenever i am around!! :) keep it up!!!

Yelp
I visited Liv Breads for the first time while passing through town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a croissant and a maritozzi, both of which were great, for being late in the afternoon. I was surprised the croissant was still so fresh and delicious. The maritozzi was filled with strawberry cream that wasn't overly sweet. As someone who isn't the biggest fan of desserts or baked goods I still thought everything I got was great!

Daphne S.

Yelp
They were very attentive to the review and replied quickly which was nice. In my opinion the apple turnover did not taste fresh and was expensive. However the ambience is nice and of course it is very popular.

Yelp
Loved this place! Food was so fresh, service was excellent, my only complaint is that I wish they had more locations.
google avatar

Yelp
Walked into this bakery after our lunch at Sum Ramen. The bread smelled so good! The staff was very friendly. They answered our questions when I told them it was our first time visiting the store. The croissants were excellent. My husband's spinach pastry was very good. I had the raspberry cake and orange cake. We also got brown sugar butter cookies. They were all very good. The price is steep, comparable to NYC prices. We will try other stuff next time we visit the store.

Yelp
I've been to the kiosk at Short Hills mall and today we finally got to visit the bakery in downtown millburn. It is street parking (Sunday is free but you get 10 mins free). There are tables inside if you want to enjoy a hot drink or their delicious pastry. The store is actually pretty small but they are very efficient. You can also order from their app and there's a pick up rack so you can skip the line. Their pastries are excellent and it's probably as good as it gets on this continent. It's a little pricey but it's really worth it. The next best thing I had was in Paris. We've become loyal customers and we recommend this place to our family and friends because of the quality and consistency.
google avatar

Estee A.

Yelp
The ambience is immaculate. The staff run the place like a friendly well oiled machine. The samples were yummy and the Babka that came with my chai latte was top tier. I didn't care for the actual chai latte I ordered. Limited seating and easy parking in the paid lot across the street (free on Sundays and holidays)
google avatar

Yelp
A few gluten free options so I made my way in- the gluten free orange cake was an absolute delight and my coffee came with a short bread cookie- I wish they'd make gluten free bread ! Staff was helpful in assisting me with figuring out what's GF- it's beautiful inside with a welcoming interior to work and meet with friends plus outdoor tables- only dinging a start for price point but will be back regardless!
google avatar

Yelp
Very good coffee and vibe of the cafe. Fresh breads and pastries. Excellent place to chat or read.
google avatar

Roxanne O.

Yelp
Everything was so good here! I'm glad that their breads were not only aesthetically pleasing, but tasted good too. We got a spinach and cheese pastry, and a fruit tart along with an oat milk latte and cold brew. The cold brew was very light, but perfect for me. I appreciated that they warmed the savory pastry up for us. And the cream on the strawberry fruit tart was addicting--not too heavy or sweet at all. Next tim I want to get a loaf for home as well as a chocolate croissant! The complimentary babka (or was it rueglach?) with every drink order was a nice touch.

Yelp
Maybe I should call beforehand and reserve? Definitely. Love this popular relatively new bakery in the town of Milburn NJ. Came by here at 9:30AM on "Good Friday "(3/29/2024) for some croissants and their excellent Almond croissants. This is specifically why I come here and low and behold I am told that they only had ONE left. Are you serious? To the owner, I know your place is busy but this is a holiday weekend and you should know that this item is popular. Some folks like me while visiting in Westfield actually drive here just for these. Kind of absurd to be "out" of them early morning on a Friday.....I will call and place my order next time. The average three star "rating" is ascribed to my experience at the time of "service". I already praised the bakery in general. Capiche?

Yelp
I decided to check out the Summit location one wknd by taking the drive over around 8:30/9am. Parking is easy (out front or across the street). Once I walked in, I was hit with the lovely smell of baked bread and pastries. I quickly scanned what was available and ordered a chocolate croissant, one croissant, sweet bun and 2 breakfast sandwiches, along with an oat milk macchiato. Macchiato was delicious while I waited for my order. Once I got then home, I devoured one sandwich and took small bites of the pastries. The croissants were insanely flakey. One the flakiest I've had. Definitely coming back to sample other items.
google avatar

Selena Y.

Yelp
Gorgeous bakery selling fresh artisan breads, pastries, and coffee. I stopped by for a quick bite and it was BUSY! The line moves relatively quickly, and I was surprised how many people were passing through on a weekday afternoon. Coffee tasted pretty standard, but I absolutely loved their chocolate croissant and its gooey center (though it'll set you back $6!). I think the croissant would taste even better if slightly warmed up - not sure if they can do that but I'd ask next time.
google avatar

Dean B.

Yelp
Top notch breads, cakes and confections. The chocolate croissants are my absolute among many favorites and their coffee rests nicely somewhere in that happy place between scorched Starbucks and bland DD. Well trained, polite and friendly staff. This would be a an easy "5" but for the fact that the goods are outrageously over-priced. Yes, I get that quality costs a premium but, no, $5.00 for a small cup of Joe and seven or eight bucks for a small pastry is neither proportionate nor reasonable. I'm as pro-Capitalist as it gets so Godspeed. The long lines attest to the truth of PT Barnum's maxim but, for me, I'll grin and bear it for an OCCASIONAL---and splendid----treat.

Yelp
I have tried their products in Short Hills mall multiple times but this was first time in their main store on Essex st, millburn. Absolutely fabulous stuff - you can't go wrong with anything you order - super flavorful and fresh. Tried mozzarella focaccia, quinoa burger and cinnamon roll - everything was way above expectations. Must visit whenever you have an appetite and in the area!!
