Yelp
I never write a review for anything unless it has been absolutely amazing or it has been absolutely horrific. I wish I could put negative stars for my experience here. Between the disrupted customers, the drunk and absolutely rude bartenders, and the absolutely degrading work attire the service staff wears, I am appalled that they even have customers. This is suppose to be a comfortable, high class, lounge setting. I have been going here for years, and since coming back I have so much to say within the 6 hours of being here with my husband and friends, this place wasn't always the greatest, but I can tell you that it hasn't got any better.
-The wait staff there, are nice, but are not knowledgeable and there is absolutely no cleanliness with their service.
-Dirty dishes piled up, glassware left everywhere, napkins on the ground, chipped glassware, and lipstick on my martini glasses.
-With both the wait staff, and bartenders, we kept overhearing "sex" stories, and who hooked up with who, who is better in bed, threesomes, talks about big and fake boobs and butts (more in derogatory talk). As a customer I do not want to hear that especially from someone you are getting food and drinks from. While waiting on a few friends, that made us absolutely uncomfortable, and I think that anyone else would feel the same. Both my husband and I understand people talk about those things and is human nature to do so, but doing so in a business where you are suppose to interact with your customers and be professional is horrific.
-The prices are expected to be expensive and I know as most do, we knew that coming here. Regardless, we were overcharged completely. With one old fashion, a martini (with the flower), and four well vodka sodas, our bill was $136, not including tip...
-With that being said, we paid cash and are a 100% sure that the dark long haired Latina looking bartender we had, had not rang up any of our drinks, as she never gave us back our receipt, even after asking the second time for a copy. Thats absolutely not okay as a business or your career as a bartender. As a company and business, if you do not give a copy of a receipt paid with cash and thats how you run your system, we can understand that, but acknowledgment and communicating that you don't give receipts for cash transactions would be nice to know.
-Later that night when we continued our stay waiting on our Uber out of the place, we have noticed that the staff behind the bar had been taking shots and progressively getting more drunk and aggressive by the minute. If your staff can intake a limited amount of alcoholic beverages on the clock, let me tell you that they are way past their limit on the alcoholic intake.
-We've noticed that they would be getting more aggressive towards customers, more controversial, cutting people off for no reason, taking away drinks from customers who weren't done drinking them, favoriting other customers that obviously have been a regular there for a long time, giving them free drinks and special services. As any customer, any race, age, gender, to run a business every one should get equal and respectable service no matter what.
-When the time came to grab our bill, before the receipt incident, I had one of the bartenders put a hand in my face aggressively telling me to f'ing wait. Neither of my coupled friends, my husband and I were at all drunk, leaning over the bar, waving for attention, or yelling at them for a drink. We were already waiting for over 20 minutes to get our check. We were waiting very patiently, but at this time we needed to leave because our Uber showed up, and we just wanted to get our bill.
-While waiting quietly and patiently for the bill, during that time, two of the bartenders were leaning back up against the wall chatting, and another bartender taking shots at the end of the bar flirting with one of the wait staff, and the other bartender giving free shots to a customer they knew. I am still in awe today.
We came to the W this past Friday to have a great experience, and just enjoy our time and company with friends. If we wanted to have the experience we just experience at the W, we would have just gone to a local dive-bar in the suburbs. They need to change their structure of business, either hire a whole new bartending and service staff, change their work attire, cash handling, system, and values, because otherwise this place will continue to go down hill.
We will not being going back to this place, and hope that anyone else that comes to this place gets a better experience than what we did, because nobody deserves to have their night off ruined with horrific service from a company you think had high values.
