Liyin Rice Roll Master

The red prawn rice roll is the best! It’s like minced prawns wrapped in a crispy fried layer, then covered with a thin rice pancake. The way they prepare it really enhances the crispiness of the prawn. I think it goes better with sweet chili sauce than soy sauce. The chicken feet are also okay—I like them not too soft. But my friend prefers them softer and more flavorful, like at SK. The char siu rice roll is just average, not really my favourite 🙂‍↔️

So tasty!!!!! I was so happy to finally have delicious pork liver in Melbourne🤩 The signature rice rolls and the beef rice rolls with pickles were just amazing. Next time I’m definitely trying the BPC (beef, pork, char-siu) rice rolls! The stir-fried beef ho fun was also really good. And the self-serve pickles in the shop were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed an excellent meal here and would definitely recommend it!

Tried Li Yi Rice Roll Master and was really impressed! The Cantonese rice rolls (cheung fun) are silky smooth and freshly made, especially the crispy youtiao rice roll – crunchy inside and soft outside, paired perfectly with the soy sauce. The shrimp and veggie rice rolls were also full of flavor. The restaurant has a nice vibe with a touch of Cantonese culture, and the service was quick and friendly. A great spot for authentic Cantonese snacks and comfort food – definitely worth coming back!

Overall the food is good, the steamed rice roll skin is very thin, the boat congee is flavourful, and the fragmented bean curb fried chicken wings is yummy. But the price is a bit on the high side.

To be honest we have not heard of this place before we got to the restaurant, however from the decor we saw that the main restaurant back home in China has won numerous awards. We tried their rice roll (cheongfun) with beef and pickle and that was tasty. The silky rolls on the outside pairs well with the seasoned beef and pickle mustard filling. Seafood congee was not bad but not worth the $19 tag. The boiled lettuce that comes with their special soy sauce is so simple yet nice but again very pricey for $9. Food - 8 Service - 7 Vibe - 7 Price - $$

If you’re visiting for the first time, do yourself a favor and order the Executive Set Meal — it’s the best value and lets you sample everything they offer. The set includes silky smooth combination porridge, fragrant stir-fried beef ho fun, their famous rice rolls (the most authentic we’ve found in Melbourne), fresh veggies, flavorful tea eggs, and the absolute must-try crispy chicken wings — made to order and perfectly deep-fried every time. You also get two iced lemon teas included, which pair perfectly with the meal. It’s just the two of us, but we always get this set and always end up packing away three boxes of leftovers for dinner — it’s that good. Generous portions, great quality, and consistently delicious. If you’re craving Hong Kong-style comfort food, this place really hits the spot. Highly recommended!

I’m a big fan of cheung fun, but often don’t get further than a standard prawn filling. I was really pleased to call in here on Saturday lunchtime and see the amazing selection on offer. The prawns with black truffle are superb, as are the noodle dishes too. The service is friendly and the value is tremendous too. I really recommend to all who love this Cantonese staple.

Delicious casual cantonese food that has several classic menu options including congee, horfun, chicken wing, and the rice roll as the star. We ordered one each for dinner for three pax and cost $90ish. Not too pocket friendly though, and I felt thirsty afterward. For a casual, quick, delicious, and filling, yes this place is an option when in the city.
