Lizzano Focacceria & Spritzeria

Came by for a quick bite after being in the area. The place was quiet around dinner time on a week day so we got food quickly. I was excited to try it, as I heard good things about this place. I got the Lizzano classic sandwich, and it really was just okay. The sandwich had plenty of prosciutto and mozzarella but it really was lacking basil and tomato. The ratio was off, and for the focaccia being house made, I was not terribly impressed. We sat outside on the patio and there is plenty of seating. Overall, The sandwich was tasty but for the price they were charging, I would not pay that again.

George and the staff and Lizzano were wonderful. We enjoyed a sandwich and charcuterie for lunch and will definitely be back for happy hour. This is a great spot downtown with lots of light and seating. I highly recommend for a quick lunch bite or a leisurely lunch + spritz!

Ordered sandwich with mortadella with pistachio cream and it was out of this world. Bread and quality of ingredients are matching the price and quality. Very similar taste that we tried in Venice Italy from the food street restaurant called All’Antico Vinaio. Definitely place to try if you’re in Chicago downtown.

Went for the $9 spritz happy hour, which is a great deal and they were delicious! The staff brought over bread and oil while we were drinking, as well as water for the table. This was very thoughtful and great customer service. I’ll be back to try the food!

Love this new edition to Michigan avenue. Very authentic and quaint. Great menu some outside seating as well. Definitely want to try more of the focaccia sandwiches.

Walking around looking for lunch, craving a really good sandwich and I am SO glad we walked down Wells Street. Roast beef, pecorino and truffles!? Perfection.

Sooooo good! Delicious spritzes & sandwiches! The atmosphere, food, music, and staff were all wonderful. I will definitely be coming back. All ingredients are fresh so it didn’t feel like I was eating a “heavy” sandwich!

As a lover of both eating and making focaccia, I was having high hopes coming into this place. I sort of got drawn in as I was walking by and figured I’d give it a shot. The space had a really warm atmosphere, and I loved the overall design from the layout to the tables and chairs. I must mention the staff were also excellent! However, I found the food to be a big letdown. I'm not someone who focuses a lot on the price if the food is delicious, but I was disappointed I paid 20 bucks for this kind of quality. I ordered the Roma and had something else sort of envisioned in mind compared to what I got. Unfortunately, there was nothing I actually liked about the sandwich. It was supposed to come with arugula, but I noticed they had forgotten it after the first couple bites. The lemon aioli was barely spread on the sandwich and impossible to distinguish. There also wasn’t much meat on the sandwich. I felt like the ratios were off and I was mostly eating bread. I also found the bread to taste old and stale. It would've helped if I had thinner or fresh bread, but the staleness sort of just overtook everything else. I personally wouldn't come back here as it was not a good first impression.

I'm glad to have Lizzano open in River North. It's a cute shop and can't wait to go for spritzes in the summer. The sandwiches are good and relatively large, but with not a ton of filling. For the price of $15-$18 I would expect more meat and cheese. I really hope this place makes it and I will be rooting for them to make a few tweaks! They are doing a happy hour on weekdays to bring more folks in.

Was so excited to have a delicious Italian sandwich shop open in River north and it totally lived it up to the hype! The ambience is cozy with cute decor and is the perfect addition to the neighborhood. The service was also excellent! We tried the Sicilia sandwich and got it on foccacia bread with fresh tomatoes instead of sundried and it was phenomenal. Took me back to Florence where I had one of the best sandwiches. The sandwiches are decently sized so we just got 1 to share since we weren't too hungry and they cut it in half for us. Highly recommend and would totally come back!!

I live nearby and was excited to see Lizzano was coming to the neighborhood! I visited during the grand opening and it was very busy (great to see!). I ordered the Lizzano sandwich which was prosciutto, mozzarella, basil and tomato on foccacia bread and it was delicious - fresh, flavorful and just the right amount. Very reminiscent of the sandwiches I love to get when I visit Italy. I waited quite a while for my sandwich but was expecting it and the staff were so friendly and attentive. They checked in a couple times with me to let me know the food was on its way and gave out samples of panna cotta. It is also cool that the owner went to college in Chicago and I enjoy supporting local establishments. I highly recommend and will be back!

This is mid-size with several seating. The items start at fifteen and goes to twenty seven dollars. The staff and service is very good. P.S. This is a Cashless business.

I really want to like this place but I ordered a couple of sandwiches and both were lacking severely in quantity of ingredients. Compared to other similar sandwich shops in the Chicago area, the sandwiches are less flavorful and have less meat/cheese/toppings. I know they just opened a few days ago, with a couple of tweaks and a larger quantity Lizzano can be very popular so hopefully they make this change soon
