Lizzano Focacceria & Spritzeria

Swung by on a Sunday for lunch and my wife and I each got the spritz + half sandwich combo. Stephanie and John made perfect Aperol spritzes that reminded me of the copious spritzes I took down while in Florence last year. We tried the Napoli and Modena paninis, both had fantastic flavor and was a REAL spot hitter on a sunny Sunday. I count myself a carb-pro, as I've made and sampled flour based products the world over, and this focaccia had good EVOO levels and flavor, but I normally look to have a bit more crust crunch and larger crumb. I look forward to returning for the the service, flavors, and slightly crunchier bread 😎

Fresh ingredients, INCREDIBLE bread. I love focaccia, but sometimes it can be a bit dense and heavy for a sandwich. Lizzano's focaccia is lighter and fluffier with a great crisp on top. Also, Stephanie, who took my order and made my sandwich, was very friendly and hospitable.

Came by for a quick bite after being in the area. The place was quiet around dinner time on a week day so we got food quickly. I was excited to try it, as I heard good things about this place. I got the Lizzano classic sandwich, and it really was just okay. The sandwich had plenty of prosciutto and mozzarella but it really was lacking basil and tomato. The ratio was off, and for the focaccia being house made, I was not terribly impressed. We sat outside on the patio and there is plenty of seating. Overall, The sandwich was tasty but for the price they were charging, I would not pay that again.

Amazing experience at Lizanno! The food was so fresh, the drinks were incredible, and the service was outstanding. Stefani and John were both so friendly and attentive! We’ll definitely be back!

Stefani and John were great - hospitable offering warm and prompt service. I ordered the Il carnivoro panini and selected a few add-ons. This sandwich had my full attention. I took my time eating and enjoyed every bite, so much so I forgo to take a photo. It presented beautifully on a small carving board. Had a late lunch here on a Sunday. Great tome to come. Highly recommend of you want a quality meal, or a break from shopping, sightseeing. It’s comfortable to sit for a little while after your meal. Ingredients are fresh and ambiance is minimalist, clean and comfortable.

George and the staff and Lizzano were wonderful. We enjoyed a sandwich and charcuterie for lunch and will definitely be back for happy hour. This is a great spot downtown with lots of light and seating. I highly recommend for a quick lunch bite or a leisurely lunch + spritz!

Nice addition to the river north neighborhood. Traditional Italian focaccia style sandwich's with the highest quality ingredients. Will be back

I've enjoyed focaccia and panini and spritzes across Italy, and Lizzano is about as close I've gotten locally. Really yummy.

I'm glad to have Lizzano open in River North. It's a cute shop and can't wait to go for spritzes in the summer. The sandwiches are good and relatively large, but with not a ton of filling. For the price of $15-$18 I would expect more meat and cheese. I really hope this place makes it and I will be rooting for them to make a few tweaks! They are doing a happy hour on weekdays to bring more folks in.

Was so excited to have a delicious Italian sandwich shop open in River north and it totally lived it up to the hype! The ambience is cozy with cute decor and is the perfect addition to the neighborhood. The service was also excellent! We tried the Sicilia sandwich and got it on foccacia bread with fresh tomatoes instead of sundried and it was phenomenal. Took me back to Florence where I had one of the best sandwiches. The sandwiches are decently sized so we just got 1 to share since we weren't too hungry and they cut it in half for us. Highly recommend and would totally come back!!

I live nearby and was excited to see Lizzano was coming to the neighborhood! I visited during the grand opening and it was very busy (great to see!). I ordered the Lizzano sandwich which was prosciutto, mozzarella, basil and tomato on foccacia bread and it was delicious - fresh, flavorful and just the right amount. Very reminiscent of the sandwiches I love to get when I visit Italy. I waited quite a while for my sandwich but was expecting it and the staff were so friendly and attentive. They checked in a couple times with me to let me know the food was on its way and gave out samples of panna cotta. It is also cool that the owner went to college in Chicago and I enjoy supporting local establishments. I highly recommend and will be back!

This is mid-size with several seating. The items start at fifteen and goes to twenty seven dollars. The staff and service is very good. P.S. This is a Cashless business.

I really want to like this place but I ordered a couple of sandwiches and both were lacking severely in quantity of ingredients. Compared to other similar sandwich shops in the Chicago area, the sandwiches are less flavorful and have less meat/cheese/toppings. I know they just opened a few days ago, with a couple of tweaks and a larger quantity Lizzano can be very popular so hopefully they make this change soon
