A Taste of Peru That'll Pack Your Bags!
Before dining here, Peru was just a distant dream. Now, it's at the top of my bucket list, all thanks to this incredible restaurant! It didn't just meet my high expectations, it exceeded them in every way. This isn't a walk-in spot; it's reservation-only, and for good reason. With limited seating and food so scrumptious it draws a crowd, securing a table is essential.
From the humble exterior, you'd never guess the royal treatment awaiting inside. The moment you step through the door, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and attentiveness. The wait staff is incredibly thoughtful, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience right from the start. Even the chef himself made rounds, genuinely checking on guests – a touch that truly resonated with me!
A Culinary Journey Begins
We kicked off our meal with a round of drinks: a classic Moscow Mule, a local Peruvian beer, and a crisp glass of wine. After a helpful rundown of the menu, we were ready to dive into the flavors of Peru.
For appetizers, we chose the vibrant ceviche, the savory anticuchos (beef skewers), and the comforting papas huancaina. The presentation alone was mind-blowing – think artful plating, intriguing smoke, and a story behind each dish. The ceviche was truly out of this world, and the beef heart skewers were surprisingly tasty, especially with the shockingly flavorful corn and its accompanying sauce. The papas huancaina were also delicious and, from what we were told, wonderfully traditional.
Entrees That Sang
The entrees were next, and I was thrilled we were a party of four, allowing us to sample a wider array of dishes. The Cordero Cusqueño (lamb rack) was, without exaggeration, the most phenomenal lamb I have ever tasted! We also enjoyed an off-menu hanger steak stir-fry that came with rice, potatoes, onions, and the best roasted tomatoes I've ever had – truly unforgettable. A stroke of genius led us to order the Tallarines Verdes, their pesto dish featuring succulent pork belly. I couldn't have been more impressed. Finally, the most intriguing dish for me was the Patarashca – perfectly cooked grouper with delightful sides and sauce. Every single bite of our entrees was so satiating and utterly delicious, we kept commenting on it throughout the meal.
A Sweet Ending
As if the entrees weren't enough, we simply couldn't resist ordering all of the desserts. I won't spoil the surprise, but trust me, you won't be disappointed with any of them!
My bags are practically packed for Peru now, but I have to wonder: will the food there truly stand up to this llama-zing experience?
