The Best Restaurants in Montreal’s Mile End | Eater Montreal

"Initially an industrial-scale Jamaican patty producer, Lloydies jumped into the restaurant game with this fast-casual counter in 2017. Expect standards like jerk pork, chicken, and oxtail, served in plate or sandwich form, or sample house creations like jerk poutine. There’s are locations downtown and in St-Henri, too" - Joel Balsam

"Serving since the late '80s, Lloydie’s offers classic Caribbean fare and vibrant decor at their two locations. Their Jamaican patties and fun dining atmosphere make it a local favorite." - Coolstuff Team

Lloydie’s is a great spot for Caribbean food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken plate. It costs 15$ and it’s very good value for money, you get a good amount of food. Chicken is fresh and tasty (could use a bit more spice). Rice is very good and plantains were great too. I also ordered side of mac and cheese which was alright (5$). Service was exceptional. The atmosphere is also really cool and retro. I would recommend Lloydie’s to anyone on the lookout for a hearty Caribbean style meal. I will definitely return soon to try the Jerk Chicken Poutine.

We had lunch on a Wednesday at aroind 2pm and it was quiet. Service was good. The food was delicious, it came really fast! They ran out of Oxtail for the day so we oredered the jerk chicken and fried chicken. They brought my husband the rest of the oxtail they had left in a little bowl! Super nice!! I guess it wasn't enough for a whole order. I also got a beef patty, it was great! It was our first time and it's definitely not our last!!

The restaurant is well kept, clean and welcoming. I love my oxyail meal with plantains. Luckily for me it was riped which is my preference. Server was kind and took care of us even if you pay before seating ! Very good food, drink and service

Had a chance to try Lloydies as it was recommended by a friend. Got myself a patty, jerk meal and a side of fried chicken with the peppa sauce and coconut coleslaw. Patty was a bit dry, but still not bad. The fried chicken was a bit bland, I would probably pass on it. The jerk chicken was flavourful and moist, probably best part of the meal! Rice and peas was decent too. Coconut coleslaw was okay, I prefer creamy coleslaw and the peppa sauce was pretty good. Overall, I was comparing the Montreal jerk chicken to Toronto jerk chicken, and I have to say, Toronto wins, but Montreal is still good! Would recommend the jerk chicken for sure!

4.7⭐️ I absolument love this place. Jamaican patties are okay but I save my appetite for the plates. Best Jerk chicken I’ve ever encountered. Spiced right and cooked to perfection. I tend to order an extra side of chicken. The oxtail is amazing. Most places will have little lean meat and mostly fatty and bone but not Lloydies! Don’t forget to mix your slaw in w/ the lentil rice. Portions per serving are quite generous. The restaurant is very clean and orderly. Highly recommend treating yourself to this eatery.

Disrespectful and ignorant staff with mediocre food. DO NOT visit! I was served beef instead of chicken. This is a sin due to religious reasons.

Cashier was shocked when I asked for recommendations. Ordered takeout but wanted to eat in as I was sitting at one of the tables. Employee brought my order a couple tables over and told me “here you go” Fried chicken was tasty but dry. Everything else was cold. Never saw a less apetizing mac and cheese which was also served sideways Maybe my fault for coming 30 minutes before close? Regardless, the experience was bad and employees didnt seem to care the slightest
