Lluerna

"The best aspect of this kind of family run restaurant is the unhurried and stress-free approach which is very much in keeping with the principles of the Slow Food movement! The focus of the married couple that run and own Lluerna, Víctor Quintillà (in the kitchen) and Mar Gómez (front of house), is on sustainable cuisine that champions locally sourced ingredients (chicken from the Penedés area, Duroc pigs, Xisqueta lambs, pigeon from the Tatjé family etc). These are showcased in dishes that use skilled techniques to enhance their textures and maximise flavours. In the kitchen, visible from both the dining room and the chef’s table, the team creates an interesting à la carte alongside a surprising choice of menus (tasting, vegetarian, presentation, Lluerna)." - Michelin Inspector

This 1-Michelin-starred restaurant truly exceeded expectations! In fact, I'd choose this experience multiple times over some 3-star meals I've had. Dining with another couple, we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, allowing for dedicated attention throughout the evening. The food was exceptional, showcasing the essence of Catalan cuisine with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients. Despite its Michelin status, the meal retained a sense of approachability and everyday charm. The wine list was also refreshingly affordable. My favorite dishes included: * Tempura Maitake and Mushroom Tea: The mushroom tea was a revelation, like a refined and cleaner version of mushroom soup. * Fricandó Fritter: The combination of the fritter, beef, and sauce created an explosion of flavors. * Mediterranean Seafood Salad with Jerusalem Artichoke: The kombu sauce added a playful and unexpected element to this dish. * Emporda Style Doughnut with Aniseed Foam: A delightful and satisfying end to the meal. This restaurant offers a fantastic value proposition with its high-quality food, intimate setting, and reasonable prices.

I tried the Lluerna menu, a 10-dish experience in a lovely setting with excellent service. The dishes arrived beautifully presented, but I felt the flavors could be more distinct. It’s a minor point to refine, and I hope the team considers this to elevate the experience.

1 Michelin star. Great weekday lunch menu for €73. The menu is focused on seafood and is quite creative. My favorite course was a white eggplant from Maresme that was super tender and coated in a thin batter made of three different flours and deep-fried. The wine list has a lot of natural wine, at least 5 orange wines.

Let me start with the positives. The food is generally good, occasionally very good, showcasing the kitchen's commendable efforts. The standout was the “egg” dish, which was truly exceptional. However, the wine pairing was disappointing. The selections didn’t complement the dishes, lacked a coherent concept, and some were simply underwhelming. The service was another letdown, falling short of fine dining standards. The staff's inexperience was evident, though their efforts were noticeable. Proper training would greatly enhance the overall experience. In summary, it was a pleasant evening, but it didn’t surpass expectations.

Nice Place but if you of one of your guests has allergies the dishes are not always that good. Although the menu was nice most of the wines did not mix with the menu and that is a little bit of a disappointment. Wines tasted good but not combined with the dish. They were spot on with the dessert

Though it took a while to get there, it was definitely worthwhile. Great friendly service! Every dish was thoroughly explained and tasted wonderfully delicious. The freshness of the ingredients came thru and the creativity and presentation were obvious. We had a very enjoyable lunch.

We had the presentation menu with assorted wines. Everything was delicious, but the top dishes for me were the tomato salad, the white eggplant and the solid mojito. The rosé wine was superb. The service was very good and helpful, but not too formal. They make you feel at ease. Highly recommended!

Yelp
An amazing gastro experience just 20 Minutes from Barcelona downtown. Catalan, creative, Km 0 food, Michelin starred resto for 30 Euros menu.. Lol.One of my best Value options in Catalonia.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant during my visit to Barcelona. It was a great experience. I came with a group of four during Christmas and we all ordered the Llurna menu (85 euros per person). Each dish was great: flavorful, creative and not too heavy. One of my favorites is probably the Melon Mojito Shot at the beginning. The melon was soaked in the mint mojito overnight and the texture of it was super crunchy and not too heavy in the alcohol side. If I came back to Barcelona, I probably will revisit this place.
