Yelp
L'Mida is a gorgeously elegant restaurant serving a fine dining take on Moroccan cuisine. The spacious, colorful, cozy interior featured lots of decorations and an open kitchen with a bread oven. Speaking of which, we were started with small rounds of puffy, freshly-baked bread, which had a soft, pillowy interior and a thin, crusty exterior. The bread went nicely with the Hummus, Cucumber Labneh, and Muhammara dips we ordered on the side. Next, the Marrakchia Salad was a mixture of cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, parsley, and Parmesan in an olive oil and oregano dressing. The salad was simple but juicy and refreshing, and the Parmesan added a surprising salty umami to the dish. But my favorite item of all was the Duck Bastilla, a round pie with a filling of shredded duck, Turkish apricots, and almonds, wrapped in crispy phyllo dough and dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar. The meatiness of the duck contrasted nicely with the sweet apricots and the crunchy almonds, and the crispy phyllo dough held everything together.
For our mains, the Riach were four thinly-sliced grilled lamb chops, served with saffron rice and onions, along with three sauces including harissa, yogurt, and mint-tahini. The Mrouzia was a whole braised lamb shank in a sweet glaze made with Turkish apricots and prunes, showcasing the sweet fruit flavors often paired with meat in Moroccan cuisine. Finally, the Fish Tagine came with a fillet of Branzino served over a flavorful mixture of cooked bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, olives, and lemon. The main flavors of the dish came from the olives and lemon--classic ingredients used in Moroccan food. Overall, the setting of the restaurant and the presentation of the dishes were gorgeous, though the prices were high for the small portion sizes, and the service wasn't particularly attentive.
