In a city of loveless sandwiches, Lò Bánh Mì has the might of something fancier - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Moments after you walk into Lò Bánh Mì, a shoebox bánh mì specialist in Borough, you’ll be interrogated about whether you’ve eaten there before, your preferred spice level, how far you’ll be going if you’re taking away, and whether you’ve been getting eight hours a night. All of these inquiries are for good reason because Lò Bánh Mì’s still-warm house-made baguettes are made to be eaten with greedy and unsociable immediacy." - Jake Missing

I really enjoyed this banh mi. They made their baguettes daily from scratch and it is a labour of love. The baguette is the perfect level of crispy that doesn’t shatter everywhere upon the bite. I would describe this baguette like a crispy cloud. I went for the Roast pork belly as I love crackling. Exceptional cracking. Chopped nicely so you’re getting nuggets of crackling with the bite. Wonderful. Located between Elephant and castle and Borough station. Not far from Mercato Metropolitano.

A small, family-run place where a lot of care goes into preparing each order, so make sure you allow a bit of time, it’s worth the wait. I ordered the chicken banh mi. The bread was freshly baked and absolutely beautiful to bite into! The crust was crunchy, the inside soft *chef’s kiss*. It was a little on the smaller side, but it was packed with juicy, tasty meat. I ordered medium heat, but even for me it was on the mild side. The guy taking the order was great - quick, friendly, and had such a lovely presence.

The banh mi here is absolutely delicious, authentic and definitely the closest thing to the ones in Vietnam. I got the signature banh mi; it was flavoured excellently with the tender meat, sweet pickles, fresh coriander and the perfect glimpses of spice (as I ordered it with spice). The actual baguette itself is so crusty and flaky (not tough or hard) but with the signature soft yet crusty Vietnamese bahn. The staff are lovely, but it does get busy during the lunch rush so be prepared to have a little wait but there's a few places sit to enjoy your banh mi :)

For the love of bánh mìs, I made a special trip to try this place after seeing all the glowing reviews and social media buzz. I got the signature bánh mì and agree with everyone - it’s easily the best you can get in London. Five stars for quality, freshness, and flavour, with the bread being the standout - crispy on the outside, soft and light inside. The sub £9 price point is appreciated. The shop is small and clearly geared toward takeaway, though there are a few spots to eat in - a small table for two and counter seating with four bar stools if you’re lucky to grab one. I visited on a Monday afternoon and waited about 15–20 minutes for my order (just one bánh mì), so it’s worth allowing a bit of extra time in case that’s typical.

I've had banh mì at Kêu and a couple of other places in London. Lò Bánh MÌ is superior. The baguettes are all made fresh and exactly how they should be - fresh, crisp and hot. I ordered the grilled free range chicken and the marinade was excellent, the pickled veg not too sweet. Honestly, the best banh mì in London and very authentic. Also I paid less than £9 for it and I don't think you can get this quality and price anywhere except maybe in Vietnam! Thank you to the sweet auntie and the workers there. Everyone super friendly. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the Vietnamese coffee which isn't made fresh so they are unable to adjust the sweetness. This is totally understandable though as they get super busy and are specialising in banh mì not coffee. Will defo visit again.

The Bahn Mi dreams are made of. Incredibly crispy baguette with soft inside, freshly baked today and served warm. Perfect fillings inside with the char sui, pate, meats and fresh pickled veggies all perfect and super packed in. Just all I ever want from a Bahn Mi. Despite having to wait half an hour during the lunch rush, I can't wait to return and have been thinking about it since.

Completely redefined my understanding of what a Banh Mi is supposed to taste like. I finally get it now. The Signature was truly outstanding. Service was great, and every one is so nice. Can't wait to come back to London one day to have a second experience
