Fantastic!! Great Service and Awesome food!!! Great for large groups..wonderful atmosphere and ambiance!!

We were there for lunch. I assume the dinner menu is more extensive. The lunch menu is somewhat limited. As long as the food is good, I don't mind the small menu. We shared the Mac and Cheese side dish which was excellent. My quinoa salad with chicken on the other hand wasn't worth the price. There wasn't much flavor other than salt. I will have to try a sandwich if I ever make it back. The service was very friendly. For now, it gets 3 stars. I would eat here again if I were in the area, but not a place I would seek out.

Google
Not sure where the good reviews come from, but my experience was not good at all. Of course I didn't try the whole menu. (and its my review only!) The grilled avocado was terrible, There was so much seasoning on top that i had to clean it all up and then eat it. And guess what, still couldn't taste avocado. (tasted disgusting) Sounds like a good idea, will try it my self (grilled avocado) but never from this place. If you order $20 octopus, you will get one (small) octopus hand with NOTHING at all. No salad, no side dish, such as rice or potatoes. Just plain simple one small octopus hand on empty plate. Salad was simple and nothing more than a any corner pizza joint (of course the price was) Loved the caesar dressing. They did not have two of my first choices of the beer. Then I just took whatever they recommended. Atmosphere and service was decent/good max 2.5 stars, and would never come back again even know I work around the corner.

Google
Servers were great. Really cool location, although parking was hilariously lacking. Food, on the otherhand, was a huge dissppointment. I ordered the Lo Spiedo platter, and the steak tips were cool (as in temperature), the rotisserie chicken was charred nicely on the outside but was undercooked inside, and the ribs were dry and not very meaty and had almost too much dry rub on them. I also overheard the couple sitting next to us send their order back because their food was cold to the touch as well. The mac and cheese was very good, however. Would probably recommend for drinks but would not recommend for their food.

Google
Great after work spot if you're in the Navy Yard. Limited parking in the lot but tons of street spaces. Good atmosphere, above average food but not stellar, decent service. Good outdoor seating but very tight at the bar.

Robert Spiel

Google
Fantastic food and experience here. Only bad part was we tried to come back another evening and they close at 9 pm. We didn't get enough of their food the first time staying in the Navy Yard, had to try again. Oh well...there's always the next trip. My wife and I look forward to it!

This is one of my favorite places the cornbread is the best I've ever had!

Google
We made a reservation and still had to wait ten minutes. There were no black people there. All the prices were inflated for dinner over what was advertised and we waited a half-hour for our food to arrive. I felt mildly sick later that night. The fries were good.

Jasmin J.

Yelp
Definitely a good find with a lovely view of the Navy Yard! Went here for a dinner on a roadtrip with my sister and was so happy with our choice. We went at around 5:30 on Monday so we were able to take advantage of their amazing happy hour and burger deal. On Mondays all burgers are half off and you should definitely take advantage of this. I tried the black and blue burger and it was flavorful and juicy. I would have liked some lettuce and tomato but should have added this myself. Staff was friendly and accommodating, as this was my first time in Philadelphia and I was surprised by the level of hospitality. All in all if you are in the area definitely checkout Gatehouse!

Jay B.

Yelp
We stopped at gatehouse prior to a concert at the Wells Fargo center and were very pleased with our choice. Food: my wife and I both got burgers and my brother in law got the cod sandwich (not pictured). We all really enjoyed our sandwiches. The black and blue had a lot of blue cheese and had perfectly cooked bacon. The fries were also crispy and well salted. Service: our server was very attentive and brought over everything that we needed. Our food came out much quicker than expected which was nice Ambiance: it's a more casual spot with burgers, sandwiches and wings but it's nice inside. The restaurant is well decorated and it's separated with the bar area downstairs and seating upstairs. The bathrooms were all really clean as well

Casey B.

Yelp
Love this place! From its accommodating staff to quick and experienced servers, we always have a great time. Their HH specials are unreal and their food menu is great for a casual bite. Our server Chris was great especially on a busy evening before Eagles home kickoff. I love the inside and outside tables - both have plenty of TVs and space to enjoy a casual meal with family and friends.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
This was a fun stop very close to our hotel. There is inside and outside seating as well as upstairs seating with live music outside. Very cool environment and fun to people watch. It is very laid back and seems to be popular. Our server, Denny was excellent! He was funny, made some great recommendations and ensured that we had everything that we needed. The food was interesting. It is more of a hang out instead of upscale. Wings, burgers, and bites. Everything was good. The avocado burger was delicious. I opted for lettuce instead of a bun and was pleasantly surprised to receive butter lettuce. My coworker ordered the wings and she said they were good. We shared fried cheese which of course was delicious. Happy we stopped in.

Yelp
Different Cheesesteak #1144. Special day of drinks and cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan. I want to love Gatehouse. - sidebar - not good enough for single name - I love the new vibe at the Navy Yard. The Gatehouse has all of the amenities. 2nd meal here and second time disappointed. $16???? The Gatehouse, please do better.

Shannon H.

Yelp
This is one time that Yelp reviews steered me wrong. Went there before a concert. Would have been better off with concession food at the Wells Fargo Center. The fried food which was mozzarella sticks and a chicken sandwich was burnt and tasted like it was cooked in year old oil. Even the cocktails were dismal. Service was slow and the staff unfriendly. Ambiance very industrial, cold style. On a positive note, the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. I choose Gatehouse because it's walking distance of the concert venue and all the good reviews which I find quite shocking. Not worth the convenience of a few block walk. With all the great restaurants in Philly, I won't make this mistake again!

Jeffrey F.

Yelp
I loved my Shrimp Po Boy, very crispy shrimp along with fries. Would get it again. Servers were chill, no complaints. I went at first to eat at 3pm on a weekday, it was tranquil and then I arrived there for happy hour. The ambiance is busy and energetic for happy hour, especially right before a 76ers game. Recommend to enjoy happy hour here for their $5 beer and $5 starters, and just walk 5 mins to any of the stadiums. Yelp
We may have caught them on a bad day. But this food was unseasoned and everything tasted like the grease was too hot. Great location for waiting for a sporting event

Carl J.

Yelp
The food was bland and the service was poor. My daughter did not like the Mac and cheese. Had to ask the waitress 3 times for my drink. Nice location though.

Kurt S.

Yelp
Great experience! Quick meal before taking my daughter to the Philadelphia Airport for a trip. Our server was Katherine, she took great care of us, frequently checked on us and helped w recommendations. It was a pre-Covid level of service. My daughter chose the chicken schnitzel and loved it. I went for the Kielbasa Ruben w a side salad. Will return!

El K.

Yelp
Good ambiance. Food is just okay. On wednesdays, they have live jazz so thats exciting!

Will M.

Yelp
High-quality friendly efficient. Services top-notch prices affordable and high-quality delicious food

George S.

Yelp
Located in the Philadelphia Navy Yard right in the shadows of the old ships! We stopped in for lunch & it was dynamite! Great burgers & vegan selections. The French Onion soup is a great started & just order the house made chips w/ onion dip as soon as your friendly server takes your drink order! If weather permits, grad an outside table!

Jim W.

Yelp
A wonderful surprise in the middle of nowhere (really it's right at the front gate of the former Philadelphia Navy Yard). It's within walking distance of Philly's 3 pro sports venues and it's a wonderful reuse of an old Navy Gatehouse! Our server was Deney. Ask for him if you come here. He was VERY HELPFUL with just the right recommendations for dinner and was sure to suggest we come back the next day for dinner before our 7 PM Flyer's game. The food was delicious. The menu had just about anything you could imagine in lighter fare. Soups, sandwiches, several larger entrees and a full bar menu. Go here. Ask for Deney. Shrimp Po' Boy was a big hit.

Tabitha P.

Yelp
Location is pretty cool. Right next to the navy yard. A cool outdoor area with string lighting. About a 7-10 minute walk to Wells Fargo center and the other Philly sports venues. I had lemon pepper wings- good and crispy and the tuna nachos which are made with egg roll wraps as the chips-loved these! I was drinking the blood orange margaritas-just ok. Finished up with the turkey burger with a side salad. The burger came with a double patty that were juicy and cheesy-yum. Would eat here again, especially if heading to one of the nearby venues afterwards.

Glenn G.

Yelp
If you work in the yard, here for a game, or live in the area, The Gatehouse is the place to go. From business lunch to a casual few beers after work, I've never been disappointed. Excellent food, drink selection, and service.

Brittany N.

Yelp
We stayed at the Marriott not too far from here for an Eagles weekend and had dinner here. The tuna tacos appetizer is soooo good! I had the fried avocado burger and it was 10/10. Great beers on tap and friendly servers. Small space, but we didn't have any trouble getting a table (reservations necessary).

Jeff C.

Yelp
Food was outstanding, pulled pork and buffalo cauliflower were just amazing. But what made my night was the staff, extremely friendly and professional. Food yes, but they made the experience worth coming back.

Anna S.

Yelp
I highly suggest their fried chicken wings, which served with blue cheese dip! In addition to that, I recommend any of their finger food meus because of the price (only during the happy hour). Their pizza dish was okay, not too outstanding. Their pizzas were too bready & thick to me since I personally prefer thin crust pizza. I probably will only come here during the happy hour or just for their fried chicken wings (take-out) when I'm nearby navy yard.

Natalie C.

Yelp
Solid spot and great outdoor spot. Clearly this is a "off the beaten path" for stadium goers as well. The spicy tuna nachos were clutch - edamame, jalapeños, tuna, and spicy mayo (these are more a "dry" nacho. They could have used more spicy mayo but overall good.) The jerk shrimp starter was good as well with mango, red peppers and five shrimp. The old bay fries were a decent portion and great to share. Our only complaint was the drinks were under poured. They should have been finished off higher for the price. Otherwise great spot!

Gregg M.

Yelp
Great hidden gem on the Philly Naval Shipyard. Convenient for pregame meals before heading to any of the three Philly stadium, ballpark and arena. Very large and great burgers with good side servings.

Christine G.

Yelp
Went here before a concert. The food was excellent. My husband had the cheesesteak and he loved it. I had the shrimp po boy and that too was excellent. Loved the look of the place and they had plenty of parking.

Dannie T.

Yelp
Okay okay okay my server, Deney, I love him so much ... Asian male server with a beautiful smile and an exceptional disposition who always remembers my favorite drink and my love of nachos, promised me i would love the spicy tuna nachos .... HE WAS SOOO RIGHT.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Good food and beer. We had the nachos to start. Good flavor and great shareable. I had the Shrimp Po boy with chips. Good choice. Daughters had ahi tuna and wings. Are it all. Wife had salmon. Also a good choice but kinda small. Service was good on a Thursday. Not a lot to see or do around the restaurant.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Great spot for happy hour or a quick dinner in the Navy Yard area. Plenty of locals were hanging out. The happy hour deals and drink options were satisfying. The prosciutto, fig and cheese salad was heavenly!

Sara N.

Yelp
This was a cute spot in navy yard with American/bar food. Perfect location for food near the stadiums. The have tons on indoor and outdoor seating. The frappe was ok it wasn't icy at all. The wings came with lot but were a bit dry. The fries were ok nothing special. The food was ok but the place was very cute and modern.

Heidi K.

Yelp
Our server Chris was great. He suggested the dragonfruit collins. It was delicious. Our party enjoyed Buffalo cauliflower, crispy Brussels, shrimp (so spicy ) and eggplant Parmesan --everything was wonderful. Chris kept the beers and drinks coming.

David K.

Yelp
Should be zero stars! We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation due to an issue with the gate at the parking garage of the hotel... We were sat quickly and ordered our meal and drinks at the same time. Our plan was to have dinner and head to a concert that was within walking distance. Our drinks were delivered quickly. But 45 minutes later we decided we could not wait any longer for food. Our waiter was busy and another waiter offered to check the status. When he came back and advised that the food was still not ready I paid for our drinks and we departed. As we headed down the stairwell our original waiter ran after us! He accused us of not paying for our drinks. I explained that was not the situation, and we had paid the previous waiter. He continued to insist we hadn't paid. The waiter we paid came running over and confirmed. At this point I was very upset. I demanded a refund due to him embarrassing me in front of the full staff, and other patrons of this business. This waiter did not check in on us once after the dropping off the drinks. I was impressed by the second waiter who understood the frustration of the situation. Finally on our way out of the restaurant the manager/owner approached us. She asked of ours situation. And she took time to assure us that this was handled inappropriately and that we would not be charged for the drinks. What a waste of a great view and my time! Hope they get better staff! The food smelled great and the atmosphere was neat!!

Jack F.

Yelp
Bad food and bad service and an ugly space that has a ceiling that looks worse than any public housing tenement and tiling that looks like a public transportation rest room.. need I say more. ok I'll say one more thing ,,, how does any restaurant other then one with a "dollar menu" serve sauces and dressings in cheap plastic disposable cup. That is just plain laziness. I am a retired professional chef and so I tend to be kind to others in the industry. This is the best I got. Sorry y'all. Better update your resumes.

John L.

Yelp
I've wanted to stop by this location for quite awhile to have their Cacio e Pepe which is a simple pasta dish of cheese and pepper, but if done properly has lots of flavor. On their menu it appears as TONNARELLI "CACIO E PEPE". The parking lot was full, but street parking was available. The bar area downstairs was pretty empty, I was seated at a table in the crowded upstairs area. The atmosphere itself was ok. The inside is an obvious retrofit of an old Navy Yard building. The bathrooms were very clean and nicely put together. The table arrangements had most tables in a main area with a smaller seating area that looked like a glassed off "event" area. The lunch crowd was mainly business folk and most of them were there when I arrived and still there after my meal. "Work meetings" :) The bar area downstairs seems nice with tables scattered in an area opposite the bar. Exposed ceiling, stone and cinder block walls gave you an idea of the buildings construction. The menu had a nice balance of offerings, mostly simple standards with a twist. The service was prompt and my food came out quickly despite how crowded the room was. (Looked like most people either already ate their lunch or were working on their liquid diet!) The Cacio e Pepe came out great. The dish had a great balance of creamy cheese with a sharp flavor and a perfect black peppercorn bite. The Tonnarelli pasta was al dente and your teeth cut right through it. On first look the dish didn't seem like a big one, but the bowl was pretty deep. A very filling dish, but each bite was equal parts sharp pecorino cheese and spicy black peppercorns. The taplist although small, had a nice craft IPA that went nicely with my meal. If I was in the area for a game or a work lunch I would frequent here, but there are better options in South Philly. Having said that it is a close Cacio E Pepe getaway from the office so I'll return!

Yelp
Hi so I went to this place on like the middle of February 17,2024 .It was a little crowded we waited for like 30 minutes . So after My daughter,Son and I oh and a family friend were seated we were giving menus and then it took a while for someone to come to our table the crowd had died down so I was not sure why it was taking so long .Then someone came took our orders and again it was a long wait , our server she was rude I was very confused the young lady was covered in tattoos and dark colored hair if anything she could've apologized for the wait but anyway everything seemed to take long for us I'm not sure why but once we were about to leave she said next time You guys will have better service ,like what why wouldn't you give it to us now how do you know I would even return . Not to mention we were the only black ppl there I would hate to think that's why we were ignored so much and had to wait a long while for everything . Food was great everything Kudos to the kitchen but server needs a lot of work and fix your attitude plz .

Ritesh S.

Yelp
Nice little escape from the city - right in the Navy Yard! I found the place easily accessible and really appreciated that they have parking right on site. Since we came after the Navy Yard had closed, we drove up to the guard at the entrance and he waived us through after explaining that we had dinner plans at this location. Upon entering, you can tell the space is lively, with patrons sitting at the outdoor area taking in the ambiance of a summer night. This sister site of the CC location has a more laid back atmosphere. There's incandescent lighting outside, and inside there's a full bar that greets you and plenty of high top seating with TV screens along the perimeter. The host that met us was very nice and let us know to self seat ourselves (there was plenty of seating inside), and she sent a waiter our way to get our drink orders. The menu looked to be inspired but nothing too crazy. We ordered the nachos, cauliflower, ricotta and jam bruschetta, and grilled avocados. We ordered off the small plates menu and just family styled the whole meal with our party of 3. The food was tasty, with everyone agreeing the ricotta dish to be the standout. The cauliflower was cooked well enough but I was hoping for a little more flavor to shine through. I enjoyed the avocados - they were grilled so the char on them injected a new taste profile that I usually don't have when eating an avocado. The service was quick and the waiter was great with filling and refilling our drinks. Overall a pleasant experience and happy with their multitude of veggie friendly options. I can see this place to be a good happy hour spot or where to chill during game days (especially given the proximity to the sports complexes.) Enjoy!!

Yelp
Tuesday night, but a fair number of customers. Really cool location on Navy yard in an historic building. Service was unbelievably slow, like they've never servers before. But very friendly. A Beer and soup was like $20 and took 20min. No sides with soup (cracker or bread would've been nice)... and no spoon!?! Had to ask for both. French onion soup was really really salty . They were out of the stout.. it's October, why/how would you run out of stout?!? I asked for a slice of bread/butter. I got a stale piece of bread had to ask 2x for butter... multi grain bread was very tasty tho. 2nd beer took like 10min... it was a can of Goffel Kolsch... very tasty however...

Spazz U.

Yelp
Service from water guy was over the top and annoying. Our server forgot we existed. Everything took forever.

Alida B.

Yelp
I ordered for delivery. I had the Ceasar salad, Avocado and Beets tartar, sour cream and onion dip and the Kielbasa Ruben. The onky thing that taste good was the wonton chips that came with the tartar and the chips that came with the onion dip. Everything else went in the trash. What a waste of money. Never again.

Alisha S.

Yelp
My experience at Bar Amis was exactly how I would explain a three star review to someone. How was the food? Good but not memorable or desirable. How was the staff and customer service? Friendly but quite forgetful. Environment and establishment? Clean but anything but cozy. I went here for a birthday dinner with a group of seven including myself. We had a reservation and were given a table upstairs on the second floor. My fiance and I arrived a little early so we helped ourselves to the bar to grab a drink prior to dinner. First off, it's quite evident that they have tried to squeeze as many chairs as possible at the bar. The bar felt way too cramped to the point of being uncomfortable. I felt like I was practically elbowing the gentleman next to me and he probably had to listen to me and my fiancé ramble about our wedding for a solid half hour - sorry, dude! As far as the drinks go, I did really like the frose I had. It was actually probably one of the best frose's I've ever had. Props to the friendly bartender for that. I wish I had asked for his name so I could give him a true shout out! In regards to dinner, we started with appetizers and all shared the ricotta and fig jam bruschetta, crispy brussels sprouts, grilled avocado and crispy buffalo cauliflower. I thought they were all good although nothing to rave about. The last mentioned was my favorite but probably only because cauliflower is one of my current favorite vegetables. To be honest, I liked it just as much as I like cauliflower I prepare myself and trust me I am no chef! I had the seared salmon for my entree and it was, once again, just good. Like the prior mentioned appetizers, it was nothing to rave about. The salmon was seared well but really lacked in flavor. I tried some of the chicken parm that my fiancé got and thought it was decent. I found it interesting that this entree didn't come with pasta of any sort, but I guess that's good to know if you're trying to cut the carbs. Although staff was nice, there were a few different times throughout the night where items were forgotten. Having to ask for items repeatedly definitely got old, fast. Like I said, although Bar Amis won't ever be my suggestion or personal preference for an Italian dinner in the city, it's dwcwnt. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad night and that my next experience would be a better if I do ever return.

Melody D.

Yelp
Went for a pre-show dinner before an event at the Wells Fargo center. Service was great and the entire staff was super friendly and helpful. Nice ambience with lots of fresh air while keeping it cool inside. Unfortunately, the food left much to be desired and in the end we would have rather just eaten at the Wells Fargo Center. The calamari was pretty good and the aoli was delicious. The Brussels sprouts, steak frites, arugula and beet salad and burger were all fine but nothing special. The fries were pretty good. I would avoid the chicken schnitzel and fried cod sandwich. I couldn't even eat the chicken. It lacked seasoning and the capers were scarce. The cod just wasn't good. Tasted like rancid oil. Besides that the cocktail of the week was pretty good. Overall disappointing.

Amiee L.

Yelp
This place a short walk from the Courtyard on the Navy Yard Campus. It's a cute place. I sat at the bar and had some happy hour specials. I didn't eat a lot and had a couple of drinks. If you are planning on visiting to see Anthro/Urban Outfitters and don't want to take a drive into the city this is a good place to have a meal. CHICKEN SALAD You rarely see this on a menu for dinner and when I do see it I'm pretty excited. It was good - and something a little lighter for dinner then a piece of meat & a little more then a salad. APPLE PIE BAR Just YUM!!! All around snaps for this

Kayeff C.

Yelp
Previous review was for Amis, the old business before it changed ownership. I don't know if they still have the meatball sandwich. I came again when it became Gatehouse, the BLT is pretty good, I especially liked the avocado. The service is great as usual.

Suzanne R.

Yelp
Stopped here before our tour of Lincoln Financial Field and so glad we did. The building is very charming. The service was some of the best we've ever had. My beet and arugula salad topped with salmon was excellent. The salmon was done very well. My son ordered the kimchi burger- so good it was inhaled. Other son ordered a cheeseburger with bacon. Someone else ordered the seared tuna and was beyond happy. Our party of 6 was pleased and ready to tour the stadium.

Billy S.

Yelp
Located in the Navy Yard, Bar Amis has its own parking lot but don't waste the time trying to find a spot. It's small. You will have better luck with street parking a little ways down. Upon walking in, the first floor is a bar with limited seating and as most of those dining in are led to the second floor. Our party mostly came to drink and snack so ordering a bunch of appetizers makes for a good tapas style meal. We set our sights on avocado toast, Brussel sprouts, roasted cauliflower, chicken wings and calamari. Avocado Toast- the grilled avocado is perfectly ripe each time. In fact, our group had to test this theory by ordering a second plate lol! The seasoning is most likely Trader Joe's "everything but the bagel" seasoning. So simple but such an elegant dish. Brussels Sprouts- the Brussels sprouts are perfectly charred, seasoned with just plain salt and a touch of olive oil. Another perfectly flavored appetizer. The roasted cauliflower is. I enjoyed the cauliflower but I feel like you'll either like it hate it. It's spicy and has slight pungent pieces of cheese, certainly flavors that are polarizing. Calamari was an appetizer yet the plate that came out was almost like an entree. Portion was large. Finally the chicken wings- the wings were the disappointing part of the meal. No real flavor, pretty dry and bland. Skip the wings.

A V.

Yelp
Visited this place during a work trip to the Navy Yard. Honestly had higher expectations for this place. There were nine of us so we had a variety of things. One person had visited before and told us not to get the pulled pork sandwich. As a joke we ordered one and split it...man was he right, downright disgusting. Old bay fries were really good however the calamari was breaded well but rubbery. Personally ordered the kielbasa rueben, nothing to write home about as it lacked flavor. Everyone had the same opinion of their meals and some didn't finish them. Maybe an off nigh but probably wont return.

Shaun T.

Yelp
Good food, nice atmosphere adjacent to stadiums. Part of the Vetri family of restaurants, Bar Amis is easily accessible. A stand alone restaurant in the Navy yard. Come before Villanova Basketball or a concert....good to have reservations but this is still a relatively unknown spot place. Rigatoni is fantastic. So are basic sandwiches like chicken salad. With drinks. +\- $35 head.

Nicole F.

Yelp
I really don't know why this place only received 3 1/2 stars. We had a very good experience here. The service was great and the word teamwork is in their vocabulary. We were always well taken care of. Now onto the delicious food.... We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana with fresh mozzarella and basil and the Braised Sirloin Tips with creamy Gorgonzola Polenta, charred honey-glazed carrots, and gremolata. My Sirloin was more like a roast...I didn't even need a knife. This Sirloin was so good. I ate every single lick off of that plate. No joke. I highly recommend getting this if you want a hearty meal. I had a few bites of the Chicken Parm that my boyfriend had. It was good, but mine was better :) The portions weren't huge like some restaurants like to serve, so we didn't roll out of there and still had room for dessert. Speaking of dessert...hello S'mores Sundae!!!! Order it...you won't be disappointed...because who doesn't like hot fudge, Brûléed marshmallow and graham crackers with ice cream?!?! Downstairs has a cool bar area with good size TVs and a good selection of beers on tap. I do like that the dining area seems separate from the bar by having to go upstairs. I'm giving this 5 stars because not only was the food great, but also the teamwork displayed by the employees and friendliness.

Janet T.

Yelp
Too a very long time for lunch food to be served. The cod sandwiches were soaked with tasteless dressing. Definately not worth the wait & money. WI'll to return!

Michael D.

Yelp
Went here with 7 coworkers and we all had a wonderful meal. I had their Beet and Arugula salad with bacon and chicken. Would totally come here again. Even though we sat inside and upstairs, they have a really nice outside area.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
We had an AMAZING TIME and an unbelievable meal. Most of the + experience was due to Denny, our server. He made the best suggestions and they did NOT disappoint at all. Looking forward to coming back! #trythetunanachosandchips!

Yelp
I've visited Bar Amis several times over the past few years. I personally love it during the summer because of the patio, it's also great during the winter. Located right in the Navy Yard, the location makes it desirable for those who work nearby as well as those attending a sporting event (just a few blocks away). Although there's a small lot that fits a few cars, there's plenty of free parking on the side streets. Most times I've visited, I've had large groups. I made reservations on Open Table beforehand, which is a great way to guarantee there are enough seats. They also host holiday parties, where you can rent out the small private area, or the larger part of the upstairs, depending on your party size. They have a decent happy hour, usually very crowded, that includes a few small snacks, a few dollars of draft beers and savings on glasses of wine. They have a pretty decent beer list and have recently started incorporating more ciders. The food is okay, I've never had a bad meal, but nothing seems to have stood out. During my latest visit, I shared the tzatziki hummus and roast pork sandwich with a friend of mine. The hummus was well-seasoned and served with vegetables. The pork sandwich was good with provolone cheese on it. It comes with either a salad or chips; you can get fries, but that's an additional charge. Just an FYI, they don't typically give separate checks for larger groups nor add a tip when the party is larger than 6. Personally, I like that Bar Amis because it is located nearby to work. It makes it convenient to grab a bite or drink. If you want a spot with a decent happy hour, stop by Bar Amis in the Navy Yard.

Yelp
Tried this spot for a birthday dinner this weekend. I thought it would be nice to be away from the crowds in center city and enjoy outside dining near the water. (FYI- I was mistaken about the "near the water" part. It isn't. Unless you walk to the water after dining.) The restaurant is located very near the Navy Yard entrance. Lots of tables outside. The inside of the restaurant is really nothing spectacular. Bar stools and tables..with not much ambiance. We arrived early on a Saturday night for fear of crowds and wait for a table. We had our pick of seating, but I think that would have been the case no matter what time we arrived. I really enjoy Amis in center city so I was ready for the same. I am dissapointed to report, it really doesn't deliver like the restaurant downtown. We ordered for starters: Ricotta and fig jam toast- It delivered but it was ricotta and fig jam on toast. Nothing special. Fried cauliflour with herbs- Tasted just as described with nothing more or nothing less. Bucatini with almonds and pepper-One of the tastiest and well prepared dishes of the evening. The pasta was delicious and the flavors were great. Quinoa salad with arugula, red onion and pecans-Really delicious with great texture. Dinner: Grilled octopus with olives- The octopus was grilled just right. I think the plate could have used more olives. I had about four strewn around and main dishes are exempt from any sides which can be ordered separately. The flavor for the octopus was also good but again, there was really no "wow" factor. Pork chop parmesean- My friend was unaware the pork chop would be breaded so she was a bit disappointed. She said the flavor was good, however. Lemon chicken with bitter greens- My friend said the chicken was good, cooked really well and had nice flavor. We also ordered a couple of sides of the heirloom tomato salad. I really love tomatoes especially heirloom. These tomatoes were a bit watery and the salad lacked. Their dessert menu is limited with no chocolate options. We ordered the rice pudding which was good and the Amis sundae with arrope and spiced almonds which was good too. The cocktails were good. Well balanced and a nice variety. We were excited about the frozen drink machine and that was fun but after the first frozen drink we started drinking bourban cocktails...but that would have been the case anywhere. I won't be back here. If I worked in the Navy Yard I would definitley dine here but in my opinion, this is not a destination restaurant. The food is just okay and the atmosphere is just okay too.
