Load Off Fannys

I had spent the better part of my day hiking at McKinney Falls and decided to head over to Lockhart before making the drive home. I looked up some local places to eat and grab a beer and Fanny's had great reviews. I ordered the classic burger and fries, and despite it looking amazing, I was actually pretty disappointed. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil and the burger was meh. I think it was probably the bun that threw the whole thing off, but it just really didn't hit the spot. I initially went to sit outside, which I was excited about, but there were people smoking nearby and it's a small patio so unfortunately I had to move inside to get away from it (I'm asthmatic). There were a lot of flies inside that kept buzzing around me while I was trying to eat, which was annoying. I wouldn't say my experience was bad and I'd be happy to head back for another try, but it was definitely not an experience that would make me recommend it to friends/family.

Did someone say DELICIOUS?! Holy moly my burger was amazing and juicy! I tried the loaded fries and mushrooms. The loaded fries were super! The mushrooms are a pass for me they were too well done but if you’re in Lockhart and looking for a good burger come here!!! I also love pickles and they added the perfect amount I will definitely be back!

I’m a big fan of the Banh Mi hotdog and Cajun hotdog. The queso is also surprisingly addictive, I love the added bit of avocado. There’s a nice variety of beer.

I went for my 21st birthday, we ordered the lady who generally takes our order is the sweetest woman ever , I believe she either had have left or went on break , but we had someone else bring our food which wasn’t the problem of course cause the food was great, but when we went to leave we had left our tip on the table it was empty in there and we had paid and started to walk away the woman who brought us the food threw her hands up and raised her voice at us saying “no tip?” Meanwhile it was on the table, and when we told her this she was like “oh I didn’t see it” but then why talk to us like that? We’ve been going to Fannys for YEARS since we were 16 years old, and we’ve never not tipped, after that we said we wouldn’t go back, because it was disrespectful how she spoke to us and I can understand if she had a hard day but their was no apology or anything like that.

We're semi new to town, but this joint immediately felt like home. They have the best beer selection in town and an awesome atmosphere. Be sure to check out and enjoy the always shaded back patio! Yummy food also with weekly specials. Thanks Fannys

I'm hoping next time I can improve my rating because I love supporting locally owned businesses and love to see them succeed. I ordered the smoke lemon pepper and french fries. The order of fries was just about the same price as the order of wings. Fries were good and the wings were okay. Not bad, just not what I expected. I plan to try again, but order a hamburger as I've heard they are delicious. Indoor dining area was a little warm and I did see a couple of flies in the dining area. I will give them an A+ for their service though as the waitress was very friendly.

This burger tasted amazing. Juicy and just the way I like it. I am picky about tomatoes and pickles. The ones on the burger were nice and crisp. Fires were really crunchy. Overall, great experience

I so desperately want to give them 5 stars however the service was simply too slow to overlook. I'll start there and end with the positives. There was only one waitress tending the entire place but it wasn't extremely busy, 4 tables when I first got there and a maximum of 5 the entire time. The waitress was extremely friendly I'll give that to her. She also did everything asked, just very slowly. I could tell every table was having to wait for things and were all slightly annoyed. Now onto the good. Again the waitress was extremely friendly. The queso wasn't as good as a lot of people say but the fried okra was pretty good and a nice change of pace since it was pickled fried okra. I had the jalapeno cream cheese burger and it's easily one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. The meat was tender and juicy, the grilled jalapenos and other veggies were fresh and the cream cheese was a very nice touch. The fries were also amazing. My son had the chicken tender sandwich with buffalo sauce and he enjoyed it, but did say it wasn't worth the wait. Overall I really want to give Load Off Fannys 5 stars because the food was very good but I can't overlook the service. It took over an hour to get a sandwich and a burger, a bit upsetting considering the restaurant wasn't packed. Beyond that I will definitely be back to try some of the other food. I'll revise my review if my next trip results in much better and faster service.

things you have to try: Barbs Burger BOBS WAY! THE QUESO - get some to-go they have great reheatable containers for it! Fried Okra/fried mushrooms/onion rings are amazing Buffalo Blue Burger (request hot buffalo) the caluflower wings (vegan options - hatch green chili is my fave.) WINGS, DUH! You can ask for extra crispy, flats or drums only, get the ranch and the blue cheese made in-house. Try the sriracha pineapple sauce or hot with lemon pepper sprinkle, yum! There's a lunch special on Wednesdays! Great selection of beers and an awesome staff. Always great music on Sundays 1-3PM with Ethan Ford and a special guest.

I really thought I was going to like this place. They have a huge pride flag indicating this is a safe place. My server was quick to take my order TO GO and bring my drink. She's on her own so that's great there. There were two tables when I came in. However it's been well over 30 minutes and still no food. I ordered a hot dog and a burger to go. Ideally I should have been able to get my food and eat in that time. Of course, I've already paid so I can't get up and leave. When I asked, I was told that orders had come in before me. Well the 6 top has eaten and are just hanging out. No other food has come out of the kitchen. Okay now to the food. My mom ordered a Fanny's Original Burger with sweet potato chips. The burger was huge but very good. The chips were great. I ordered a loaded dog. It was interesting but tasty. The bacon was ground (?) in small bits and the dog split and grilled. I loved the food. But it was an order to go and quite messy to eat. No napkins or plastic ware was offered. Trying to find a knife and a fork in the rehab home was difficult. Dining in... seems like a good place unless you're in a hurry. Dining out... avoid unless you're going to your house.

For a good beer and good burger, this is your place. Service and ambiance are great, small cute little place with good vibes

Wanted to love it. Live music was good. Service was friendly, but couldn't get what we ordered. Maybe new people working or something. Food was average.

This is the third time I've been here so that says something. I love the vibe of this place. If you're looking for something that encapsulates small Texas town, Load off is where it's at. Come on the weekends and you'll be in for a treat with wonderful live music. And the food is fantastic! The wings are fantastic and the burgers are cooked perfectly. Came in today because this is where my mom wanted to come for her birthday. We were fortunate to have Dixie as our server and she was amazing. Made sure our cups were always full and our food was to our liking. She is a testament to how seriously their management takes customer service.

The burgers and wings are really good. If you are vegetarian or vegan they have options for that as well. A good draft beer selection and the service is the best. On Thursdays they have Karaoke on the back patio which is always a lot of fun. Give it a try!

The kitchen was so spotless, we assumed they'd stopped serving food, but Hal assured us they were open. We had a delicious burger, brat, chips & queso, and a couple beers. Great spot with great food and great service.

let me start by saying load off Fannys is the first establishment I have been in that I have felt a sense of family when i stepped into. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners, which are the nicest individuals I have met in a good while. Their wings are on point, and if you're looking for a young, fun atmosphere this is the place for you. I would recommend load off fannys to anyone!

Really cool dive bar in Lockhart, TX. Nice draft selection, some indoor seating but a very large outdoor area. Hotdogs and burgers on the menu. Worth a stop if you're in town. Friendly bartender!!!

This is my second trip here and I have to admit that for the price, it is not worth it. I ordered my food and although my entire table heard me order, they did not get it. I've been sitting here with an empty spot in front of me for a few minutes with nobody asking if I needed anything. I will not be returning. The rest of my family also ordered boneless, but got bone in wings. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because they did like the wings.

Fanny's is a great spot for socializing, having GREAT, hand-pressed, burgers and a beer. There's an outdoor area in the back with plenty of room and karaoke on Thursdays and live music on Fridays. The burgers are FANTASTIC, and then there's that wedge salad....oh my YUMMY! I like this place. I'll be back.

Been coming here often, food is always great... Owner if you are reading this, please address your bartender/waitress. Forgot her name but whoever you had 02/17 around 8pm. Had to wait 25mins just to place an order after I had to request to be attended too. Was never attended too after receiving our food. SERVICE SUCKED to say the least. Long story short

Thank you for your hospitality to my family. Your spot was just the respite we needed from a long days trip and mishaps. Yelp did not disappoint as usual. We went for your juicy burgers and they definitely did not disappoint. No fake meat here for the original and jalapeño cream cheese! Crispy fries, plain or loaded were perfectly salted. The fried portobello mushrooms were meaty and had the perfect amount of crispy batter crunch. Kids appreciated the silly scenery with the Mr. Bones table.

Fist time in... really good food and nice people! Highly recommended! Definitely will return.

Holy crap this Barb's burger is flippin delicious! We asked to have our burgers cooked md rare, both of them came that way! Super fresh ingredients, cilantro was the perfect last touch to this burger! They have a badass new menu that made us want to go back to try more!

This is one of my favorite spots in town. They have the BEST wings and burgers. There is a nice section of beers, including a dark beer year round. I always enjoy the live music and karaoke on the patio out back. The staff is super friendly and the owners are eager to please. If you haven't been, or it's been a while, you NEED to go.

I've been to Fanny's on multiple occasions and it never fails. If you get a chance to visit, I recommend trying the hatch wing sauce chicken wings! By far my favorite sauce on the menu. Service is awesome and the food came out fast. Hayley and Barb are the best!!

We were driving through Lockhart and just had the best lunch at Load Off Fanny's. My husband had the Loaded Dog and said it was the best hot dog he'd ever had! Our server, Dixie suggested I order my burger the same way, and wow!!!! Not on the menu, but I highly recommend "The Dixie Burger"....you won't be disappointed. How can you go wrong with a burger with Queso Blanco, Bacon and Grilled Jalapeño??

The food was good (hotdog) but how can you really screw up a hot dog? The owner was there and was in a really negative mood which made things super awkward. The fried okra was really weird and we couldn't finish it because it wasn't edible. I wish this place had a liquor license because they're one of the only places downtown with an outdoor courtyard like area.

Great little place and staff! Food was great, you have to try the Sweet Potato Chips!! This place was great!! They have some fantastic vegetarian options as well! Would HIGHLY recommend!

Any management/ownership that responds to the customers in a way that protects their employees in such a professional and no nonsense way deserves a visit. This is now on my "must go to" list and I hope Stefanie (excuse any spelling errors) will still be there as well. Thank you Stephanie and the owners/management for standing up and encouraging others to do the same.

It's not always easy to find good vegetarian options, but this place delivered! They had cauliflower wing options and any sandwich could be substituted with either a black bean burger or a grilled portabella. I had a portabella patty melt and sweet potato chips and they were amazing! The two waitresses were fantastic and very personable. Highly recommend this joint!!

I'm a frequent flyer here as I absolutely love the black bean burger plate. It isn't a "excuse me, we have something on the menu for vegetarian" kind of thing. It's a knock out, and worth a rerun. Always a pleasant atmosphere with great folks. It's my local favorite.

I only asked them to deliver my food to my car outside because I'm handicapped and they said they could not do that I would have to come inside. If they can't bother then neither can I terrible customer service

Stopped by for the first time today on a whim because I needed somewhere to eat dinner with vegetarian options while on the way to Port o Connor with the family. Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal. Like SO good. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back. 10/10 recommend.

Lockhart has a lock on my heart.. (has this been done before?) Load Off Fanny's is a charming nod to the song The Weight by The Band. Seriously their name is the least Google-able name on the internet. Why didn't they plan for that? Oh, yeah, because it was the 60s. You may think I'm getting off track (ha, another song reference), but I'm not. This place makes you wanna sing and take a load off (3 and 4) at the same time. LOF, as I've affectionately abbreviated it as, is the quintessential wing bar in Downtown Lockhart. If you have tired of BBQ try mixing it up here. They have tons of wing options and a few things to keep the menu popping. Like Jalapaño poppers. These aren't your typical breaded fare, these are fresh, filled with cream cheese, and wrapped in a slice of bacon poppers. I make them at home a lot, but it was nice to see them on a menu! The wings are the reason you come here, though. The flavors are outrageous. We had the garlic parmesan, hatch chile, and traditional buffalo. All three were great and totally different. The garlic was made with fresh, chunky garlic. You often see powdered garlic and parm on wings, but not here. The hatch was interesting, too. They didn't have much heat (if any), but the creaminess of the sauce was the perfect contrast to the buffalo. Come take a load off here.. whatever your name might be.

Love me some Load Off Fanny'sBest wings & appetizers in Lockhart! Not to mention a dynamite staff and atmosphere that the town of Lockhart needed. Then they hit me with the live music and I was sold, and their ranch dressing needs to be bottled and in my fridge ASAP please. Look at the size of the jalapeño poppers!!

We were so stoked to try this place when it opened! Lockhart was SORELY in need of a good hot wing place. My boyfriend ordered the 10-piece wings with HOT buffalo sauce and I got the 10-piece cauliflower with traditional buffalo sauce. Both sauces were very good- the hot sauce was a bit thicker. And both were messy so we were grateful for the wetwipes and the roll of paper towels on our table. The wings were SUPER meaty and very well-cooked! I have never seen bone-in wings with so much meat on them. The cauliflower was well-cooked and totally soaked up all the buffalo saucy goodness. My boyfriend was sweating and crying from the hot sauce, but that's how he likes it. I don't know what the dipping sauce was that came with the sweet potato fries, but it was out of this world. Can't wait to come back again and try more items from the menu! The on-draft beer was cold and refreshing and the service was fast. Five stars!

This is the first time I have ordered lunch for the shop, and EVERYONE was happy!!! I ordered 15 to go orders, all orders were made as ordered. I asked that the boxes be labeled with names, all were right. Great customer service. Wonderful food. I am a regular there, because they always treat me GREAT! Keep up the good work !

This is a little hole in the wall dive, but as long as you know that going in, it was an excellent burger, fantastic server (Hayley) who accommodated my weird substitution requests and was super friendly and engaging. Will definitely stop here if I'm ever in Lockhart again.

For a good time, go to Fanny's. I live in Las Vegas with some of the best dining and entertainment options in the world. I know what quality is. Fanny's is authentic in what they deliver. It's quaint, relaxed atmosphere and quality ingredients will have you licking your fingers. From their creative selection of sauces to accompany deliciously fried chicken wings to their juicy burgers, Fanny's does not disappoint. If you're looking for something to hit the spot, have the hatch chili or creole wings with loaded fries. Fried green tomatoes are also a favorite (the batter is delicious). One last thing, go on a night when there is live music and sit outside under the stars.

I travel a lot for work and am always looking for go-to places to relax at the end of the day in a place where I can feel safe going by myself. Unfortunately, that usually means a chain. But there are occasionally great little local joints like this, where the wings are hot, the beer is cold, and everyone is normal. Glad to know the management supports its staff and that staff don't have to leave their personal boundaries at the door when they come to work. PS if you don't like your wings hot, they have a ton of other flavors lol

Place was awesome with great food good service. Wings were awesome! Never thought about anything other than BBQ when going to Lockhart, but now I will.

Kudos and fifty stars to LOF for standing behind its employees and dealing with the sexual harassment of one of them promptly and unequivocally. Negative 100 stars to Yelp itself for dragging their feet on the matter, even for a second. They should have removed the review immediately after the first report/flag but decided not to for some reason.

The bartender was attentive and very nice. The beer was cold. The wings were just ok, I prefer them a little more done. The backyard was cozy. I'd come back in a pinch.

The food was not bad. They have interesting wing flavors and they cook the wings well. The sweet potato chips were a little soggy. This is more of a local drinking place. Not great for large groups or families. The chairs were not big butt friendly. They have some bars that kind of dug into my sides.

While winding up our evening in Lockhart we took a stroll around the square and came across a small place called Load off Fanny's. We went in looking to get a couple of beers and were pleasantly surprised. They had a great selection of draft beers. The interior was nicely decorated and they had a patio out back. We had some good conversation with the staff and co-owner. While we didn't order food since we had filled up on BBQ earlier that evening the food that I saw coming out looked great. The next time we're back I want to try their wings.

Great little hole-in-the-wall! Beer glasses were cold., the taps were a little rough, but their canned beer/cider collection made up for it. Though the pulled pork sandwich was a little greasy, it was tangy, delicious and the burnt ends really made it. And I loved that the coleslaw had minimal dressing. It added a great, fresh crunch. The place was so busy that I think the bartender/waitress would love a bar back to help with logistics. We will be going back!

Excellent dive bar in the truly best sense of the word. Not really a dive at all. Just a great place for friends and family. Wonderful wings. Great music. Nice patio right off the square. Took the wife and kid. We had a great night with our daughter captivated by the excellent band.

Hometown fave. What more can I say? Jalapeño cream cheese deliciousness, brewskis and a side of hot live music. The staff are tremendously nice and if you're reading this and haven't been to Load Off's yet and you like good burgers, wings, veggie options (like cauliflower wings) and live music, then get in there!
