Vietnamese Coffee Is More Than Just One Thing—Here's Where to Try It All in Hanoi | Condé Nast Traveler

"Reaching this spot in the Old Quarter feels a bit like going on a National Treasure-style quest, since it’s tucked inside a crumbling yellow 1930s French colonial mansion half-hidden by foliage and lacking clear signage, but following the smell of coffee up the winding staircase to the first floor reveals a charming hideaway. Inside, exposed brick walls, faded flowery tiles, and splat back wooden chairs give the space a strong retro vibe. The coffee menu is extensive, featuring inventive options like banana coffee and lime coffee, and the egg coffee stands out for being infused with cinnamon, which gives it a distinctive aroma. If the cups your drinks arrive in catch your eye, you can wander within the same building to Hiên Vân Ceramics, which sells pieces made in Bat Trang Pottery Village, where pottery has been produced for more than 700 years." - Arundhati Hazra

A charming café tucked in the city. The interior felt like i traveled back to the past & they place classic old music which makes the atmosphere cozy 😊 I love their Egg Cocoa! This tasted better than the other popular egg coffee’s i tried hahaha! (If you want the creamy flan egg taste more) I do remember i pass by this and it does get crowded, so i recommend going around late afternoons on weekdays 💛

Unique old house with a lot of character and history. Very calm place, hidden from the busy streets. Coffee is good and the egg coffee is a must, hot or iced. You have to go early, otherwise there is a big queue and it’s not really worth waiting that long. Nice spot if you time it right.

Very pretty cafe. Our drinks came a bit slowly as the staff seemed overloaded, but they apologised profusely and honestly we didn’t mind at all! It’s nice to just soak up the atmosphere here. Oh, and the drinks were quite tasty! We tried the lime coffee, which we thought would be strange but was an interesting blended/smoothie-type-of drink. I enjoyed the cocoa egg too.

A hidden gem tucked away in a charming old house, offering a cozy and nostalgic vibe that feels like stepping into old Hanoi. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with vintage decor, wooden furniture, and soft lighting that perfectly complements the experience. Their coffee is amazing—highly recommend the iced coconut coffee! It’s incredibly refreshing with just the right balance of coconut flavor—not too overpowering, just perfect. The yoghurt coffee, on the other hand, is a bit too rich for my taste, but it might be a hit for those who love indulgent flavors. A delightful spot to relax and soak in the charm of Hanoi while enjoying a great cup of coffee!

A lovely tucked away haven in the middle of Hanoi. The building is a reclaimed old colonial structure, with no visible signs outside of the cafe’s whereabouts. It feels like a “if you know, you know” kind of find. After weeks in Vietnam and dozens of egg coffees, I can firmly say this place does it best. The egg cream is also so marshmallow like in texture and flavour with subtle cinnamon to add depth. The servers are always so gracious and kind. There’s just a beautiful atmosphere. I’ve been here every morning for almost a week and I’m still blown away every time!

Found this cafe at the end of our time in Hanoi … wow! What an awesome place … on the 2nd floor of an old French mansion … the egg coffee is far better here than in the tourist places down town … but it’s the atmosphere that is equally the star at this place with the French music in the background it’s like being transported to a different place … so classy for Hanoi.

Quite literally a hidden gem in Hanoi. This hard-to-spot coffee shop is perfect for a quiet getaway, tucked in an old house, it feels like you're having coffee in someone's living room. The coffee is very good and the ambience and atmosphere is ideal.

Very Instagram-able cafe at the first floor of an old living quarter with European influence & decoration. Egg cream coffee was authentic. Service was good. They even allowed us to have our banana fritters bought from outside. Complimentary pandan flavoured tea was served after we finished our beverages ☕️ 😋.
