This restaurant replaced Men Kee Restaurant where my family went for years for take out. They closed due to COVID and recently a new restaurant/owner took over! This place has a bakery section which you will see it right as you enter and then on the right is their restaurant part. I thought this was an interesting concept as you don’t normally see a restaurant doing this. We came on a Tuesday night and this is what we ordered: ⭐️Calamari $12.95: So crispy and yummy! Great portion. Just wish it came with some lemon wedges. ⭐️Salted fish, diced chicken, and eggplant clay pot $16.95: This was slightly to oily in my opinion, but my oh my it had so much salted fish!!! You definitely need to eat rice with this dish. Eggplants were cooked perfectly, so soft and love the crisp on the skin. ⭐️Fujian-style fried rice $14.95: Wasn’t a huge fan of this, everything felt a bit soggy. Almost felt like I was eating an undercooked porridge. Probably wouldn’t order it again~

this is for the dine in experience. we went on a weekday around 2:30pm so it wasn’t busy at all. since the place is new, the place is clean. we got a table quickly but after that, it took quite a bit to flag anyone down to order. we even asked the gentleman who came out from the kitchen who served a dish to another table that we were ready to order. he just pretty much ignored us and went back into the kitchen. there were 4 front store worker but no one paying attention to us, all doing their own thing which wasn’t much of anything. the same guy came out again and we had to shout to him we are ready to order. he said he doesn’t take down orders and shouted to another lady to help us instead. I don’t understand why no one heard us the first couple times nor see our hands waving in the air (it’s a small place). I got their wonton noodle soup. I based a lot of places on how well this simple dish is made. this dish has a lot of room for improvement. I don’t taste any shrimp in the wontons, mostly pork. The wonton skin is thick and size wise it is small. the noodle is average with no bounce, the soup is a little bland. I can appreciate that it came with veggies. my friend got the seafood stir fried crispy noodles. she spit out the shrimp because it had a rotten taste (?!). we were almost done with our food but still missing a dish so when we asked about it, they went into the kitchen to ask and then came back to tell us the ingredient is not available….why is there no communication between the kitchen and the front? I live 1.5 blocks away, I don’t see myself coming back for their hot food. I have not tried their pastries yet.

Google
Really enjoyed this new bakery. I tried the cocktail bun, BBQ pork bun, and curry beef bun — all were fresh, soft, and flavorful. What stood out most was how clean and bright the shop is. You can tell they take care of the place. The buns weren’t overly greasy or oily like a lot of bakeries in SF can be. The flavors aren’t punchy in that heavy, Instagram way — they’re more balanced and feel closer to homemade. Simple, satisfying, and done right.

Pretty packed on Sunday afternoon! Bakeries are just another version of Sheng kee! Not the fresh one when I picked them. Hong-kong milk tea was just average!

The food was cooked well and takes decent. I was not happy with the staff’s attention to detail and customer service. There are like 5 staff standing around acting busy with no team work. I asked for a table and sat down. It took 15 mins for them to take my order. The didnt have fried fish sticks in stock or the fuzhu bean curb sticks for the claypot dish. When I tried to get their attention. No one came. They were doing other stuff like cleaning tables and walked into kitchen. And the bakery staff were bringing out bread at 12:30 pm to sell. It’s the lunch rush and they were still focusing on selling bread… At 1:00 pm more customers came in and they took their orders fast. Its like they woke up from their nap. Maybe they heard me complain about their lack of organization. Saw a 70 year old lady carry 3 -50 lb bags of jasmine rice out the kitchen. Younger staff doing the easy work and didn’t help her carry. Sad.

Google
New bakery on Noriega Ave by 24th Ave! The buns average $2.50 each. I liked the corn bun. Too bad I was too hungry and ate it all before I remembered about taking a picture. I also got a Hong Kong style milk tea and it was decent. Service is a little slow; there were 4 people in front of me in line and I had to wait roughly 15 minutes to pay. I expect it’ll get faster as everything works out. If you don’t see a bun that you like in the trays, you can ask a cashier and they’ll tell you how long it’ll be until the next batch is done.

Google
The slowest cashier i have ever seen. I literally only wanted one pork floss bun and it took her forever to ring it up and put it in the bag. Never coming back.

Google
These guys have great buns at reasonable prices! They are the first bakery in SF to rival the old Cafe Bakery pork buns…and I have been looking for years!!!

Yelp
New bakery in the area that we decided to check out. Picked up the bbq pork bolo, custard bolo, green onion bread, coconut cream bun, and milk teas. Hubs liked the bbq pork bolo and green onion bread. Haven't had a coconut cream bun for a while and this one was light and fluffy. The cream filling was also light and not too sweet. The bolo was crispy on top and the bun was fluffy - good. Milk teas were just ok. While friendly, the service seemed to be all over the place. Although we received our hot milk teas fairly quickly, there were customers there before us who ordered cold milk teas and had still not received them even after asking several times for status. Will give them some time to see if they improve.

Yelp
A homey bakery and restaurant run by a mom and son! They still had a decent selection of pastries during dinner time which I was pleasantly surprised by. The salted fish claypot is easily made too salty, but it wasn't here. All the dishes were very flavorful!

Yelp
After a group lunch, some suggested checking out this new bakery. Upon entering, a nice selection of Asian pastries awaits. I'm one of those people who likes durian and was pleasantly surprised to find a durian pineapple bun for sale, $4.25. At first I thought it was just the top part of the bun that included a durian flavor, but after a few bites, real durian pieces were inside the bun! It was pretty tasty. I was also impressed with the lemon roll cake slice, these are seemingly hard to find these days. Unfortunately, they didn't have any Taiwan milk tea during my visit. The food menu also looks tasty and very reasonably priced. Hope to try the drinks and food next time I visit. #38/2025

Yelp
Stopped to kill an hour while my car was being serviced across the street. Had a don tot (egg tart) and Hong Kong milk tea and both were good. The crust on the don tot was not as flaky as some I've had, but it was good and the custard was not too sweet. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. The pastries are in cases and you serve yourself with the tongs and trays off to the side, so you can take your time to decide. Some of the food I saw others eating, especially the tomato beef chow mein, looked good and the prices are reasonable, so maybe I'll come back for lunch soon!

Yelp
Friendly courteous staff helping us. Food is pretty good with a good variety of choices on the menu, whether you feel like rice plates, clay pots, veggies, appetizers, or anything. Chinese food. Buns for sale up in front too, grab and go style. Not a lot put out because the space is small so staff member was continuously refilling it. Interesting item: durian pastry, very big size for a pastry bun. Good prices Lunch food- -beef chow mean: popular dish, many tables ordered -Mongolian beef: tasty, lot of sauce. Best eaten over rice -salty fish fried rice: if you like salty taste. Smells good -seafood fried noodle: good taste, wish there were more seafood meat pieces because it was more noodle and not so much meat

Yelp
Chinese bakeries seem to be a dime a dozen out here in the Outer Sunset... Well, add this one to the list! LoafHK bakery opened about three weeks ago, and they are still in their "soft opening" phase. I happened to be nearby, so I decided to head on in and check it out.. Inside, just grab a cafeteria tray and a pair of tongs, and pull what you want from the clear drawers full of freshly baked Chinese pastries on hand. Self-service, ya know.. Friendly counter staff, with a cozy dining area where you can enjoy your treats. While I was there, they had all the standard offerings - Pineapple Buns, Baked Char Siu Buns, Raisin twists, Custard Tarts and many others. Oddly, all of the baked goods looked rather dry, as they lacked the shiny attractive glaze that you see on pastries everywhere else. Perhaps they are trying to be healthy by avoiding that sugary (or eggy) glaze, but it does make the items look a lot less attractive. Nevertheless, I chose to try their cinnamon bun and a baked BBQ Pork Bun just for starters. Cinnamon Bun: Unfortunately, the cinnamon bun was just as dry as it looked, and the cinnamon bun tasted rather bland. Mind you, I'm not a sugar hound, but it would have benefited from being more moist with a stronger cinnamon flavor to it. This was fresh.. but just so dry and without much flavor. I hope they improve on this.. (2.5/5) The BBQ bun was a little better, but even though the bread in the bun was dry and lifeless, the pork was OK, though nothing like the image of the BBQ bun pictured on the sign out in front. I truly wish the best for LoafHK, and again, since this is a soft opening, I do hope they tighten up their game soon!

Yelp
A little Chinese bakery with inside seating soft opened, selling buns, egg tarts, and milk tea. Local neighbors come to support this new business on Noriega Street, but I barely smell the pastries - which is always my first drawl to any bakery. I bought a iced milk tea for $4.50 - a decent price considering bobas are nearly double. Service was a little low in energy and considering they haven't had their grand opening yet, I wish them 加油!Bring up the vibe and smile for success!

Yelp
I saw this new spot in the area and wanted to give it a try. I got the cocktail bun, pineapple bun, baked bbq pork bun and a custard bun. I think they are all solid in terms of flavor and texture but I wish the bbq bun was less soggy. There are also drink options in the store but I wish the store was a little more enticing but maybe it just opened so they might need more time to spice the place up!

Yelp
The food we got was amazingly good! Peking spareribs and the salted fish with chicken in a clay pot. I was very surprised to see the volume of the spareribs, it was a big plate. Our two hot hong kong milk teas were perfectly sweet. Will come back to try their buns.

Yelp
Took my coconut pastry and pineapple pork bun to go. Both were fresh and delicious. They have a small dining area where people were enjoying teas with their pasties.

Yelp
Food: the bakery is great in addition to the neighborhood Service: nice friendly people Ambiance: very nice and pretty. The old very Dungy looking. New place is very bright very clean everything this looks so much better.

Yelp
Disappointed at their attitude and way of handling this situation... Here on thanksgiving... The male baker in the photo was refilling the pastries when my husband was kneeling down to deal with our kid. The baker pulled out one of the bottom drawer and it hit and scratched my husband's back and left this scar. The baker didnt even apologize and just looked, mumbled something and left. Did not look apologetic at all. As for the food... all the pastry are cold and very mid.

Yelp
Wonton wasn't good ! Fujian-Style Fried Rice, noodle and pork liver are ok ! Service was fine but it took me 20 mins to wait for 1 food! I ordered some dishes so it took me a hour and half for the whole meal!
google avatar

Lina W.

Yelp
A newly opened bakery and restaurant. Food comes out slow but worth the wait for the taste as quality. The beef stew and radish clay pot are so tasty and not chewy.

Nora C.

Yelp
We came here for dinner to check out their grand opening - everything ordered was good! The bitter melon with beef, calamari, tomato beef chow mein and salted fish, chicken and tofu claypot were bursting with flavor. You can really taste the freshness and quality in every dish. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! (I love Cantonese cooking, it's comfort food for me.) I've also started coming here regularly for breakfast -- can't get enough of their baked goods and sponge rolls! Everything is baked fresh daily. I'm slowly making my way through the whole selection.

Yelp
Morning serves only coffee, tea and pastries. No hot food till 11am. Seating is comfortable.

Linda M.

Yelp
We came to eat at the restaurant and there were two tables that needed to be bussed. Staff was busy with other tasks. Customers were waiting for their food. Someone finally bussed the tables and we sat down and ordered. The kitchen was slow getting food to the customers. A table that ordered after us got their food before we did. I told the waitress that and she said she would check with the kitchen. Food was good but the waiting time is unacceptable. There seems to be inadequate kitchen staff. One customer told me she had to wait 30 minutes for her food. There is definitely room for improvement for the kitchen and customer service. I will not be returning anytime soon.

NL T.

Yelp
If I could give 3.75 I would. Over a month into the soft opening, the logistics were off. Ordered and waited a long time for food. After waiting 15 minutes, we were advised an ingredient was out and to order something else. Asked for another dish and they said they were out of shrimp. Asked for a menu and ordered something else. Food was very tasty and sized for the price. Staff was nice, restaurant clean. Chow fun, beef stew clay pot, salt and pepper pork chop all very good. Oh, and the soup came after the first entree. Hot and Sour soup taste on par! If we were in a rush, this would be a poor review. We had time to be patient. I definitely will give it another shot and hope they iron out the bugs. That must be done. Update: custard tart very tasty, however, u prefer flaky pastry style crust. This is more like a cookie/shortbread crust. The beef curry bun is light and fluffy, with plenty of savory ground beef filling that is just slightly spicy.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
This morning order 3 buns a cold tea and hot milk tea total $17 + minimum 15% tip = 19.44 But almost finished eating the curry beef bun still no milk tea yet, asked the lady, the lady asked the guy who took my order, he said it's done then walk away BUT my tea actually been sitting on the counter for more than 7 to 8 minutes, come on, what kind of service? Without telling the customer yr tea is ready, and worst thing is we " tip " first. My kid waited even longer for his cold jasmine tea. This is it. No next time.
google avatar

Al T.

Yelp
Still in soft opening phase so didn't have a lot yet. I was able to grab a ham and scallion twist, pineapple bbq pork bun and a hot dog bun. Bread was very soft and fluffy. Definitely very fresh. Will come back and try the other stuff. Clean and friendly service.

Yelp
Saw that this location has finally opened and decided to check out their offerings. It's a Chinese bakery plus a full kitchen cooking wok items. Stopped by this morning and picked up a bbq pork bun and a custard filled bun from the case. Went up to pay and noticed the cashier charged for 2 pork buns, I had to point out the custard one and she adjusted the price. Also bought a hk milk tea, it was "ok". The buns from the case were cold, I prefer warm. That was the deal breaker for me. May return to try their kitchen foods. 3.5 stars.

Serena L.

Yelp
So excited to see this place finally open! Had dinner just now. Ordered traditional and they did not disappoint. Great flavor, piping hot, noodles perfectly crispy. Very nice folks. This is the perfect additional to the block!

Lusha W.

Yelp
Good egg tarts and nice addition to the neighborhood! Seems to be a family run business with the son as the cashier and mom in the back. Very friendly! A group of kids in front of me were fundraising for their school and the son generously donated.

Emily T.

Yelp
Got seated rather quickly. But took forever to get the menu. Food came out at a decent time. But the food wasn't that great. I ordered a wonton noodle soup and my friend got ox tail wonton noodle soup. I also ordered salty and pepper chicken wings and a hot HK milk tea. The noodle soups came out first- the noodles were soggy, didn't have the elasticity to it. Wontons were unfortunately bland and soup was also bland and kinda watered down. Then the chicken wings came out- they're good but nothing incredibly outstanding. I got my HK milk tea last and they kept forgetting about it. Had to ask for it a few times and by the time I got it, it was barely lukewarm. Tasted pretty good though. I will say I know they recently opened and probably need some time to have a better workflow. For example, We asked for the check and a box to go and they came back with the check. And took what felt like forever to get a box. Our lunch took us over an hour because we felt like we had to remind the servers something or wanna order and it's taking eons. I think once they work out their kinks it'll be better as it's a new restaurant. Food was alright, maybe I need to order something else but also felt if things were expensive ($55) and the food didn't equate to $55.

Cat H.

Yelp
Good service decent wok fried food and bakery product, I suggest they should serve some simple breakfast set menu to attract breakfast crowd.
