Where To Go When You’re In The Mood For A Martini - New York - The Infatuation

"Lobby Bar in Hotel Chelsea is where your boss’s boss probably grabs drinks with their art advisor. It's a nice escape. You won’t hear any music, only bits of conversation from people wearing thick-rimmed glasses. Claim a barstool or a couch in the fern-lined garden room, and drink a house martini made with minimal vermouth and a to-the-brim pour of ice-cold gin or vodka. It’ll hit you fast, so get some fries to eat on the side, or plan an after-drinks dinner at Café Chelsea next door." - bryan kim, willa moore, kenny yang, neha talreja, carina finn koeppicus

The 13 Best Hotel Bars In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"You will feel more chic, and more interesting, just for having walked into the Lobby Bar at the Hotel Chelsea. Despite opening in 2022, this is the kind of instant institution that feels like it's been here forever. Lobby Bar is like a plush, swanky living room with a marble bar and vintage chandeliers, plus solarium spaces filled with plants. The Dukes Martini is a stunner, but it's no joke: Your server will rinse your glass with vermouth tableside, then fill it with your choice of Tanqueray or Ketel, bottles frozen in blocks of ice. There's a reason why patrons are limited to ordering two—make sure to line your stomach with the free bar snack mix." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, will hartman, tiffany yannetta

Where To Go Out When You're In Your 30s - New York - The Infatuation

"The Lobby Bar is appropriate for all ages, as long as you appreciate elaborate crown molding and perfectly cold martinis with imperceptible amounts of vermouth. The space consists of several interconnected rooms with rugs, chandeliers, and mismatched sofas, and it would probably seem stuffy if it weren’t located in the bottom of a buzzy hotel (Hotel Chelsea). This is a glamorous place, with a perpetual crowd that ranges from pre-gaming twenty-somethings to immaculately dressed parents checking in with their kids." - bryan kim

The 9 Best Bars In Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"Located in the newly renovated Hotel Chelsea, Lobby Bar looks like the foyer of a gracefully aging mid-tier palace. The space features couches and armchairs, a long marble bar under a massive chandelier, and a garden room to the side where you can get some sunlight. All of that might sound stuffy, but Lobby Bar is pretty laid-back, and it’s one of our favorite spots to drink an extremely strong martini, eat some fries, and catch up with a friend. If you want to grab dinner after your drinks, head next to door to Café Chelsea." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

Where To Eat When You're Visiting NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Bob Dylan and Patti Smith used to hang out at Hotel Chelsea. That was over half a century ago, and the hotel has been significantly renovated since, although it still maintains some old-timey charm. On the ground floor, you’ll find the appropriately named Lobby Bar, filled with mismatched rugs, enormous chandeliers, and couches you sink into as your blood’s gin content climbs steadily upward. (Be careful with the martinis here.)" - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja

Great atmosphere and drinks, a lot of cushy sofas and armchairs to sit. However no laptops after 6pm policy and it is enforced, so me and my colleague could not finish our presentation slides in the lobby.

Unfortunately I had a recent run in with whatever bartender other reviewers have mentioned. He was white, maybe 6 feet tall, with wavy dark hair working during the evening. He was extremely rude, unpleasant, and unprofessional. Picture your high school bully, but somehow 10 times worse. It felt like this man was getting paid per altercation with customers (and the more drawn out the fight, the more $$ he would pocket). It was that bad. I don't think I have ever met someone more outwardly disrespectful, antagonistic, or just straight up mean. The way he spoke to customers was completely inappropriate. This bar has so much potential because the space is gorgeous, but for as long as this man is there picking fights with customers, it won't be a good spot. I recommend that you save your money and don't spend it on someone who will verbally/figuratively throw a drink in your face.

My husband and a friend of ours who was visiting from out of town, got to the bar 10 mins early. While being the only ones seated at the bar, we saw Emily come in to set up. It was 3:12pm when we asked if the bar was actually open. Prior, she didn’t acknowledge us at all! No introductions or apologies for her late start. We then asked about a drink that was previously on the menu and she said it was no longer available. Anything she said after, could not be heard. We asked her twice what she had said. She continued to fidget with a bottle cover while not trying to speak any louder. We ultimately decided her nonchalant and dismissive attitude was not worth the headache. Our visit was Mar 16, 2025.

Went to this bar last week - Nino is an awesome bartender who makes seriously amazing cocktails. He’s super attentive and always makes sure everyone’s taken care of, even when things get busy. Plus, he's really friendly and knows exactly what you need before you even ask. If you want great drinks and good vibes, Nino’s your guy!

Joe (Caucasian, working the bar on 3/29 evening around 10 pm) absolutely ruined this bar in my books. We used to like coming here for drinks (decent fwiw). Tonight, one of our friends was feeling a bit sick and we told him to take a 10 minute power nap. Less than 5 mins later, Joe (who isn’t even our server!) storms over and literally yells at all of us “HE CANT SLEEP HERE” multiple times. Mind you, we ordered drinks and a snack for everyone (a mocktail for the friend), had arrived 15 mins prior. Asking once would be enough, and you really could ask politely, @Joe. We actually wondered if Joe was treating us differently because we were a group of Asians. Our friend obviously woke up from the incident, and left because of Joe’s absolutely rude attitude. We did not feel welcome and we will not be returning to the Lobby Bar again. We obviously get that people shouldn’t be sleeping at bars, but really, the attitude is not necessary. We felt like we were being accused of criminal activity, it was that bad. The guy was sitting upright, we don’t need to be scolded like children.

This is a very beautiful space where you can come have a drink catch up with some friends or even study. Unfortunately yesterday I came and my girlfriend asked the worker (a white male around 6 feet) where's the garbage he decided to be very rude about the garbage whereabouts. Tonight I came back and I ordered a coffee & a drink from the cafe downstairs after getting exceptional service, I asked the same worker for some ice due to me forgetting to let the cafe barista know he very rudely told me I had to purchase something I then told him there's no need to be rude and I did he still was being very rude about it and I decided to go back downstairs and get ice, I came back upstairs to tell him I didn't appreciate the way he talked to me and he decided to not apologize but be more rude on it. I would deff come back to enjoy the lounge but I'll never spend a dime in the bar section due to this terrible service.
