Lobster Joint Review - Brooklyn - New York - The Infatuation

"Get off the G at Greenpoint Ave, start walking north, and you'll eventually find this place that looks like it belongs near a beach on Cape Cod. Lobster Joint is a New England-style seafood shack, and it's the neighborhood's premier destination for clam strips, fish and chips, and popcorn shrimp. All of those things are great, but don't forget to eat a lobster roll while you're here. They serve a few different kinds—including your classic New England and Connecticut varieties—and we tend to gravitate toward the Lobster Club Roll. Like the rest of the rolls, it comes on a toasted, undersized bun with a large mound of lobster recklessly spilling over the top, although it also has some crispy bacon and a good amount of avocado. Order one at the counter, along with a Bloody Mary (with lobster) or a Narragansett, and claim a picnic table on the sunny back patio." - Team Infatuation

Google
After traveling back and forth between Jersey and Connecticut, I figured it was time to finally try a lobster roll in CT. The Lobster Hut has an unassuming presence and you just might drive right by it (even with GPS) like I did. There are some tables outside of the food truck so you can eat there or take it to go. I was surprised that a food truck had pagers to let you know when your order is ready. Of course I got the lobster roll platter with fries. The lobster roll was stuffed with fresh lobster and I appreciated the fact that they did not use a potato roll for the sandwich. Plenty of melted butter on the side and the two together made for one unforgettable lobster roll. And the fries were most excellent! Hot and crispy, and not the least bit greasy. The one item that I found disappointing was the lobster bisque. It’s probably more me than the Lobster Hut. It had plenty of lobster in it, but it just wasn’t as creamy as the lobster bisque I’m used to from my favorite seafood restaurant. To be fair, I’ve yet to find a lobster bisque that comes close. Lobster Hut’s was decent, but did not have that pop of flavor that I’ve come to expect. I will definitely come back here when I’m in the area. Lobster was so fresh and tasty.

Google
In town for work and looking for lobster roll close by. Found this hidden gem and was super excited to try it out. Straight forward menu and choice was easy... 1/2 LB lobster roll platter. Roll was amazing and loaded with lobster... fries were hot and crisp. Highly recommend!

Google
Lobster Hut is in a nice location, but that's definitely the highlight. With crazy expensive prices for average portions, there are many other places cheaper, and for better quality lobster. That bring said, the food itself was not bad by any means, just expensive. So unless you're looking for a quick lobster snack, I'd go somewhere else.

Google
Amazing lobster rolls, period!! Walk up to the hut (literally) and order a double lobster meal, take it to silver sands Park find a great seating and enjoy. The lobster rolls are generously stuffed with tasty well seasoned lobster meat. If you are a lobster lover you have to try this Connecticut take. Yum!!

Google
Clam strip platter, frozen clam bits and pieces, overcooked and dried out cooked in dirt oil. Howard Johnsons would have been better. Lobster bowl chopped up lobster pieces no chunks. Disappointed to say the least. Now we know.

Google
My experience with lobster food trucks hasn’t been great, but in CT, you do what the locals do so I tried it. The lobster rolls were good but not fantastic. I would say to save some bucks and do without the fries. Just purchase the rolls on its own. Not a seafood person? No problem. They sold hotdogs too - 2 hotdogs with fries. Each platter came with melted butter and cole slaw. I would most definitely drench the lobster roll in butter. The bread tasted a little sweet, which wasn’t bad so the combination of lobster with butter and what I’m assuming is Hawaiian bread is great.

Google
What a delightful surprise. Yummy lobster rolls after a bird walk at the Audubon Society made for a great time in Milford! On a busy road, but it's about the food, not the view.

Jess A

Google
Great lobster roll can’t wait to come back !! I love that they put the melted butter on the side for you to pour on when you’re ready to eat so the roll doesn’t get soggy🦞

Yelp
None better than Lobster Hut! Succulent lobster on a soft butter roll. Lobster bisque has more lobster in it than most rolls. Not fancy just the best tasting,

Yelp
Another great spot for a fresh hot lobster roll with butter. Filled with chunks of lobster meat. This is our second year coming. The bun is freshly buttered and toasted. Delish! Our daughter loves the hotdog with the onion rings. Might be coming back next year. Try it! Totally worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
The people here are very friendly! The lobster rolls are fresh, flavorful and a good size. The food was all fresh and well prepared. I would likely stick to the lobster roll each time because it's the best thing. The onion rings seemed beer battered and delicious. The fries were also good. They keep a porta-potty for customers only and it was very clean and full of sanitizer and paper. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
One more relevant point to add. There are a number of local restaurants who serve as good or better lobster rolls than The Lobster Hut for the same price, but you get to dine in an air conditioned room, and not have to listen to the at times very loud traffic going by only a few feet away. Since The Lobster Hut doesn't have the same costs to operate as a regular restaurant, why are their prices the same?

Yelp
The Lobster Hut is a food truck located on Boston Post Rd by Vavoline. We went on a Monday morning and they were busy with guests and it also appeared they had several phone orders. The lobster is market price and our order was $115 for two 2 lobster roll combos which included a good amount of crinkle fries and a small container of cole slaw. The lobster rolls were Connecticut-style served warm with butter. The roll was nicely toasted but a little too buttery for me. The lobster was flavorful. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You order at the window and receive a pager to let you know when your order is ready. When we ordered we were advised there would be a wait, and there was. We waited at one of the picnic tables where we observed everyone enjoying their meals. When we picked up our order they apologized for the wait. The Lobster Hut is nothing fancy but well worth a visit for a good lobster roll at a reasonable price.

Yelp
Nestled in a quaint corner of a bustling street, Lobster Hut stands as a beacon of delight, offering a taste of seaside indulgence in the heart of Milford, CT. With its unassuming exterior and modest size, this small food truck belies the gastronomic treasures it holds within. Today, I had the pleasure of experiencing their Hot Lobster Roll paired with Crinkly-Cut French Fries and it was nothing short of a revelation. The first thing that struck me upon receiving my order was the generous portion of succulent lobster meat overflowing from the perfectly toasted bun. Despite its humble setting, Lobster Hut prides itself on sourcing the freshest lobster available and it shows in every mouthwatering bite. The lobster Meat was tender, juicy and brimming with flavor, a testament to its quality and the Chef's skill in preparing it. What truly set this lobster roll apart was the wild butter game!! A rich, decadent butter sauce infused with a tantalizing blend of herbs and spices. Each bite was pure savory goodness, as the buttery sauce coated every morsel of lobster; imparting a depth of flavor that lingered long after the last bite taken. Even the bun, lightly toasted to golden perfection, provided the ideal canvas for showcasing the star ingredient...The Lobster!! Its softness offered a great contrast to the tender meat, allowing the flavors to meld harmoniously. Moreover, the slight sweetness of the bun enhanced the overall flavor profile, creating a delightful interplay of savory and sweet that had my tastebuds in a trance. You get what you pay for here and it's worth it!!!

Yelp
They know how to make fried clams and lobster rolls taste so good! I recommend. Nice people too.

Yelp
Awesome! Who knew shopping in Milford would lead us to this road-side food truck gem! Husband has been majorly craving a lobster roll since his favorite place was less than stellar the last time we went. Knowing this- Yelp helped me find this place so we stopped for a late lunch and so happy we did! Super friendly and helpful service and the most important part- amazingly delicious hot lobster roll.....Worth every penny! The roll was toasted and buttered and the lobster was tender buttery heaven in the middle of it. The lobster was plentiful and a variety of tail and claw meat. It also came with a side of clarified butter for extra dipping if you choose (I did of course- why not?). This really helped satisfy our craving for a lobster roll- it was a home run! The lobster rolls were our main reason for stopping here but there are also other menu options too. Definitely worth another visit when we are in the area for sure and I highly recommend!

Yelp
Seemingly the most random spot on the road, TLH could be easily missed. However, it's worth a stop! I'm not sure how the cook so much in a tiny trailer, but the menu includes the good stuff: lobster roll, shrimp, fries... our of clams (hard this season). Good, pure lobster roll, though the bun was notably soggy, which was a disappointment. However, don't let that stop you!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Lobster Hut is always fresh and delicious. I've had the lobster roll (5oz). They put the clarified butter on the side so your bread doesn't get soggy. I have had their fried shrimp, clam strips and fries. Everything is fresh and hot. I will continue to eat there while I'm living in this area.

Adrienne S.

Yelp
Most delicious lobster roll! Can't beat it- the freshest lobster, dripping in butter on a bun toasted to perfection! Worth the trip

Jacqueline R.

Yelp
Full transparency while we realize it's "The Lobster Hut", they do offer other items in their menu. In addition to the 4 oz. Lobster roll we ordered a fish sandwich, much was left to be desired . It's made to order so expect to wait for the fresh food. Lobster roll (not pictured) flavorful and happy we finally tried it. Fish sandwich total fail... I'm sorry for $14.99 (just the sandwich) this in person looks like two Gorton's frozen fish pieces on a hamburger roll with what looked to be relish or their house tartar not sure. Staff were attentive and nice considering the hot and humid day!
google avatar

Deb S.

Yelp
Ok this was best lobster ever! Hotdog on great roll split hot dog. Best ever. You need to check it out!!
google avatar

Madeline B.

Yelp
I have to remove one star from my previous review. The food is still amazing, and the service was still friendly, but the prices have definitely gone way up. We got two lobster rolls (5oz) and a side of clams, and it was $87.

Yelp
When Will Ferrell enters a hypnotic trance in a debate scene concerning the role of government in supporting biotechnology in the movie "Old School", his response was so good, that real life political consultant James Carville had to respond "We have no response. That was perfect." I'm kind of in that position after eating at the Lobster Hut in Milford. The Lobster Hut is what is it. A food trailer that makes seafood like lobster rolls and fried treats, gives you a beeper so you can kill some time, and hand-delivers your food when it's ready. You can dine at one of a few picnic tables or in your car, or you can take it to go. They advertise no frills and deliver no frills. I'm cool with that. My wife and I ordered a twin hot lobster roll platter that came with cole slaw, crinkle cut fries and melted butter for dipping, and a side of clam strips with tartar sauce. I've ordered some variation of this at many, many seafood places. And I almost always find something that doesn't quite measure up. I can't say that about The Lobster Hut. There was a lot of lobster. It was good quality and well cooked. The grilled roll was well managed. The roll already had some butter flavor, and the side of melted butter allowed for customization. The fries were well executed for the crinkle style. The cole slaw, where many good places drop the ball, had good classic cole slaw flavor and texture. The fried clam strips had good color and texture. And the last thing that trips up some seafood places, The Lobster Hut served its own house made tartar sauce rather than packaged Ken's or whatever. The tartar sauce had its own vibe (heavy on relish) and I liked that. I noticed some reviews commented about the cost of the lobster rolls. I get that. They're not cheap, but that's the case everywhere if you're going to a top spot. The Lobster Hut was certainly on par with the other top spots I've tried, which is most of the big CT places. So yeah. "We have no response. That was perfect." Five Stars

Yelp
I was a little suss given the location and parking lot. However, after reading the glowing reviews decided to give it a go. I am glad I did, the place did not disappoint. It's a quintessential New England buttery lobster roll. The fries were fresh, hot and salty (perfect IMO), the Cole slaw was great (not too saucy). The rolls come in 4oz or 5oz portions. It was $5 more for the 5oz ($5 for another ounce ‍). I went with the lobster roll plate, which I assume was a 4oz roll with fries and slaw for $30. Worth the price, meh. If there was a better view or ambiance, I could say yes. But it's a legit small food truck in a parking lot on a highway. If I was craving a quality lobster roll, would definitely go back.

Susan W.

Yelp
Finally tried their lobster roll and it was really good. The two people working there on Sat. were very friendly and helpful. What was surprising is that this tiny food truck had such a big menu. As I munched on my lobster roll I wondered how do they do that? Will return again of course and hope they are still working there. Glad I finally made it there!

Yelp
Expensive but worth it. Clams, shrimp, and lobster roll. All amazing! I will definitely order again!

Yelp
The Lobster Roll at Lobster Hut is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Tons of lobster on a grilled butter roll make it Number 1 in my opinion. Located in Milford, you don't have to drive toward Rhode Island to be pleased. Get the fries too and the amount given is huge. I also fount the cook and fellow workers to be so friendly and polite. What a gem to have for us in the Bpt, Stratford, Milford area. Enjoy folks!!!!!!

Yelp
Stopped for a lobster roll treat and wasn't disappointed! The 5oz roll was wonderful and I loved the onion rings! The fries were a bit too soft and very salty for my taste, and sitting next to a main toad with cars wasn't the best, but it was a nice pit stop for lunch regardless!
google avatar

Yelp
Friends told me for a couple years that this 'Hut' had great lobster rolls. I finally stopped there today............and 'The Lobsta' Roll' was fantastic. Served hot or cold on a buttered toasted roll. Really Really Good! Also got a hot dog platter. Great dogs, again with toasted and buttered roll. I'm going to be stopping back here A LOT!
google avatar

Yelp
Too good! I was craving a lobster roll and lobster hut completed the assignment! Everything is made to order, the wait is worth it. I ordered the lobster platter and a side of shrimp. I was pleased, they never disappoint.

Yelp
Perhaps my expectations were set to high? I've had some excellent lobster rolls in Connecticut including in Milford restaurants and I've also had some pretty bad lobster rolls. If I'm being honest the lobster roll at the Lobster Hut falls somewhere in between. The lobster lacked flavor. It was completely bland and flavorless. The only thing I could taste was the grilled hot dog roll. I tried adding some more of the butter they provided on the side and that didn't really help. I ordered the platter so it came with French fries and cole slaw. While the cole slaw was good the French fries were your standard frozen Ore Ida crinkle cut fries. They also went a little heavy on the salt. The packaging of the To Go order was top notch. They packaged the fries in a vented cardboard container to minimize the sogginess factor. They wrapped the lobster roll separately. They also provided plenty of napkins, wet wipes and ketchup. Excellent work on packaging. If only the flavor was this good. Given the very high price of the tasteless lobster roll (borderline outrageous) I don't think I'll be going back.

Yelp
I just had the best lobster roll of my life. Picnic tables, a friendly staff, the cleanest porta potty I've ever visited! Just inland from Silver Sands Beach, made a lovely stop for our family plus wet sandy dog. Clean picnic tables on white stones made this a charming spot that had me forget we were sitting on a main road. Love the simple straight forward menu with no frills.
google avatar

Wil S.

Yelp
CT style Lobster rolls (meat served warm with drawn butter on a toasted hot dog roll) are fairly solid with the exception that it's limited to claw and knuckle parts of the lobster. Furthermore, the ends of the claw contain flavorless sections that should be not included but seem to make their way into most lobster rolls. These parts serve only for aesthetics or fillers (imo). It's a food truck with a few picnic tables alongside a busy road. Not the best scenery. Especially, being next to a automotive oil change business. Prices are reasonable for comparable lobster rolls. Maybe worth a visit should you be in the area.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
First time trying The Lobster Hut and it definitely didn't disappoint. The lobster roll was hot and loaded with lobster meat. The bread was toasted and buttered just right. Highly recommend and would definitely come back.

Yelp
Great price and great lobster rolls! Easy access. Fries and giant onion rings. Great brunch before heading to airport.

Yelp
We ate here one summer day last year . . . Amazing! Can't wait to go back. Yes, expensive, but truly delicious. These people do it right. It's not a quarter lb. Lobster, it's a quarter of a lb. Of lobster that goes in the roll. Loaded with mouth watering lobster. Can't wait to go back. I told everyone I know about it. Yummy!

Monique L.

Yelp
Yummy sandwich, friendly service. Would have been nice to have some umbrellas up to sit in some shade bc it's hot in the summer!

Yelp
I was in the New Haven, CT area and I decided to check out Lobster Hut. I'm sorry but I wasn't impressed with my EX LARGE LOBSTER ROLL that cost me $26.99. It took me three years of viewing and seeing people yelp photos and raves about this Lobster Hut truck. I also ordered beer battered onion rings $4.99 and they were banging, crunchy and the onions were juicy. The ex-large lobster roll was filled with lobster meat but it wasn't juicy, it was dry chunkiness and felt microwavable. It was Monday and most places you should never attempt on a Monday as your getting leftovers. I had a huge amount of lobster meat and I put it over salad. That meat sat on my chest as a result; . I felt awful and when I woke up for work @ 12:00 am where I usually get up for 1:50 am as my workday starts at 3:30 am. I felt so I felt this way until mid-morning. I feel better now but I know there was nothing else that made me feel this way because I saved my belly for this ex-large lobster roll. I believe my expectations were not met Listen I don't think that their awful as a food truck I just think I came on a Monday and Monday's aren't the best day for food trucks or restaurants, that's just my opinion. Until my next #YELP #FOODIE #ADVENTURE #4THELOVEOFFOOD.

Yelp
Delicious. A perfect hot lobster roll! The wait wasn't too bad, the service was good - the lobster. I mean, that's what you come here for.

Jim O.

Yelp
Mediocre fried seafood. Reminds me of Gordon's frozen seafood in taste and quality. Everything was dark, which is an indicator of frying oil past it's useful life. No impressed and wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Looking for a foodie adventure featuring the freshest lobster around? Look no further. All that can be found at the Lobster Hut. This place really surprised me. I had no idea a food truck could produce lobsters at the level of a fine Maine or Cape Cod seafood eatery but they do indeed do just that. For the skeptics..just give them a try. This place made my beautiful mom very happy as she was craving a good fresh lobster and we were told by a friend about Lobster Hut. She could not believe how tasty they were. So thanks Lobster Hut for the great eats! Five stars. Check them out!
google avatar

Kat L.

Yelp
Expensive but fantastic! Fresh, flavorful, good quantity... So happy. We had clam strips & lobster rolls. Best lobster roll I've had in years and I consider myself quite the connoisseur. Perfectly butter-poached lobster and not the tiniest bit overcooked. DEFINITELY worth the quite expensive price.

Gary A.

Yelp
Great little place along side, the road a Milford by the Subaru dealership great fresh pet lobster rolls delicious on the expensive side but worth it. If you're getting them to go tell them they will put the lobster the butter in a separate container so your rolls don't get soggy.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
Healthy portion size of lobster in each of your lobster rolls which taste fresh and buttery. Thoughtful packaging to allow you to apply your own clarified butter but not super eco friendly. Fries are crispy and plentiful. If you are going with a friend, order the twin lobster rolls and save a few dollars and get plenty of fries. Nice place to stop on a warm day like today and I will definitely be back.
google avatar

EC D.

Yelp
*SUBSTANTIAL PRICE INCREASE!* Wow! VERY tasty and sizable lobster roll - got the fries with it. Last year I feel like it was around 17-19 bucks - this week, that 27.86 kind of really stung, geesh! To be clear - that's not what it cost before, so that was a bit of a shock (yes, I am aware of the current MP for lobster rolls, but sheez...). In any case, it was Hot and delicious and they add a small container of melted butter (in case you need it).
google avatar

Kym G.

Yelp
I love this place. It's a food truck in random parking lot that is completely amazing. I've gotten the lobster roll and the picked lobster. Both are really good, large portions, fresh and delicious. Top 5 lobster roll I've ever had. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ro K.

Yelp
Excellent place for lobster rolls ? Gf got the regular roll ($17) and I got the XL ($26) Both had an excellent amount of meat for the price . It's Warm Lobster on a toasted butter roll , perfect ! I've had lobster rolls all over New England , and this one was one of the best , the lobster was very fresh!
google avatar

Monika B.

Yelp
I do not live in Milford but every time I travel from NY to visit family, I HAVE to make a stop at the The Lobster Hut. The roll is so buttery the lobster is delicious and tender, my daughter who is the pickiest eater, eats it all! We love the lobster hut!
google avatar

Sue H.

Yelp
Walked over here while they completed my paperwork at Dan Perkin's (yeah - a new used car!) to check it out. The temp was in the high 90's so I silently thanked the stars above the line was short. Prices were similar to local venues - so fingers were crossed. After a short wait my lobster roll was ready. However, the only seating choices available was a picnic table in the direct sun or a tree across the road in the shade. I chose the latter and sat on a concrete road abutment landscaped with poison ivy and litter. The roll was perfectly toasted and the lobster meat reasonably tender and buttery. Couldn't tell if it was freshly cooked or packaged, but the truck didn't seem to emanate any smells of cooking lobster. The best way to enjoy the Lobster Hut is to bring your own cooler with grape based beverages and a large rectangular folding umbrella. I learned this tip after watching a family enjoy these necessities with their take-out.

Yelp
After having a cold mayo lobster roll in Cape Cod, I was really craving a hot, buttered CT style lobster roll. We found this place on Yelp as we were driving for a long time through CT; this was conveniently located off the highway so it's great if you're driving down 95. It's in a parking lot next to an auto shop, and there are 2 picnic tables outside so you can eat there. The menu is not super big, which I actually like because I'd rather have a place specialize in certain things, and the food tends to be fresher this way. As their name implies, they specialize in lobster rolls, but they also serve clam rolls, just fries, hot dogs, and a few other things. You can get a smaller lobster roll ($18), or an XL large one ($28 inclusive of tax); I believe the smaller lobster roll comes with fries - the XL one does not (I wish it did - at least just a little would have been nice) My husband and I shared the XL lobster roll, and I thought it would be much longer than it was. It was probably 10 inches or so, but there was a lot of lobster packed into the lobster sandwich, so I was still happy with this. The chunks of lobster in the sandwich were fresh, large, warm, and plentiful, and the bun was soft, buttery and hot, with the edges and outside toasted. It comes with a small thing of melted butter to dip your sandwich or lobster pieces into. Lunch here won't be cheap at around $19 per person for a lobster roll, but it's certainly cheaper than getting a lobster roll at a restaurant. And it's lobster, so it's going to be expensive - it's not a hot dog. For the quality and size of the lobster roll that you get, you would probably be paying ~$25 at a restaurant. I'd definitely come back here again to get another lobster roll. Don't miss this if you're looking for a good, fresh CT lobster roll at reasonable prices.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and gave me a menu with updated hours when I mentioned it was my first time visiting. The lobster roll was great. I look forward to future visits.

Yelp
My husband was craving a lobster roll in Milford and he discovered this lobster truck. It is in a weird location but if you want a lobster roll, it will do the trick. We ordered our food and waited on one of the three benches. Its a two man show. The lobster rolls took a while so if you are on your lunch break you better hope it's not busy. When we finally got the rolls the lobster chunks were big and plump. My husband really enjoyed it. I'm not a lobster fan but it was good. The Cole slaw was tasty. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
Expensive but where can you possibly find a cheap lobster roll? Either way the lobster roll I had here is one of the best; worth every penny. The New England style roll sucked in the butter beautifully, yet it kept together nicely, with the most tender lobster you can get. Met in your mouth is and understatement!!! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
The XL lobster roll was delicious and fresh! The ladies who were working when I went (7/8/20) were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place. Be prepared for a bit of a wait though as everything is made to order and there's always a line at lunch time and around 5pm. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Located next to a Valvoline on the busy Post Rd, there is a little area called The Lobster Hut. A friend of mine raves about this place and she was in CT visiting family so we met up there. Lobster roll was on a toasty buttery bun and the lobster was great! Only thing, I wanted a platter with fries and slaw, but they were all out of slaw. :-\ Must have run out from the 4th of July or something so we ordered fries on the side. Steak fries were crispy and delicious. Love a crispy steak fry, my fave! If you're down in the Milford area and hankerin' for a lobster roll then give them a try!

Yelp
Best lobster roll around in CT. I went to Maine on my honeymoon and nothing can even compare to this place between the generous size and amazing taste! Not to mention the best prices as well, I highly recommended this hidden gem! The lobster roll comes with crispy delicious French fries and so so coleslaw. I frequent this place and I've never had a bad experience. The portions will have u blow away, if you haven't tried it yet or skeptical because it's a food truck you are missing out! I would stick with the lobster rolls I didn't care for the clam strips.

Jess R.

Yelp
Really the best! Everything about the platter, the rolls, the fries, the coleslaw. The bisque is amazing too with huge chunks of lobster. There can be abit of a wait.
