AN ABSOLUTE MUST EAT HERE! Lobster West in Coronado is a gem for seafood lovers, especially those craving authentic, East Coast-style lobster rolls. Located in the heart of Coronado, this small, casual eatery offers a laid-back, beachy vibe perfect for both tourists and locals looking for a quick yet delicious meal. The Food The menu is straightforward, focusing on what they do best—lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls. The star of the show is the lobster roll, which is served with generous portions of fresh, sweet Maine lobster meat. You can choose from three different styles: the traditional Maine roll, served cold with a touch of mayo; the Connecticut roll, served warm with melted butter; or the third option, which offers a little spice with a hint of jalapeño. The lobster is incredibly tender, and the rolls are perfectly toasted, offering a nice crunch that complements the soft, flavorful filling. If lobster isn’t your first choice, their crab and shrimp rolls are equally impressive, filled with large chunks of fresh seafood. The simplicity of the rolls, paired with high-quality ingredients, makes each bite a treat. For sides, the clam chowder is creamy and flavorful, and the coleslaw is crisp and refreshing, providing a nice contrast to the rich seafood. Portions and Pricing While the portions aren’t huge, they are satisfying for what they are—a gourmet treat rather than a heavy meal. The prices reflect the high-quality, fresh seafood, and while it’s not a budget meal, it’s fairly priced for the quality you’re getting. For seafood aficionados, the cost is well worth it for the authentic taste of Maine brought to the West Coast. Atmosphere and Service Lobster West has a cozy, casual atmosphere with a welcoming staff that makes you feel right at home. There’s limited seating indoors, but the outdoor patio offers a relaxed setting where you can enjoy the sunny Coronado weather. It’s an excellent spot for a quick lunch or a low-key dinner after a day at the beach. The service is quick and friendly, with staff always ready to explain menu options or offer recommendations. They take pride in sourcing sustainable seafood, which is a big plus for those who care about where their food comes from. Final Thoughts Lobster West is a must-visit for anyone in Coronado looking for high-quality seafood with an East Coast flair. Whether you’re a lobster roll purist or just looking to enjoy fresh seafood in a casual, welcoming environment, Lobster West delivers. It’s a great place for a quick bite that doesn’t compromise on flavor or quality. Perfect for a beach day lunch or a casual dinner, this spot is a little slice of Maine in sunny San Diego.

We ordered the trio of lobster, crab and shrimp rolls. The 🦞 and 🦀 were so good, there are no photos of these sandwiches. We slowed down in time to take a quick photo before finishing the shrimp. The bread is a light sourdough grilled in butter til crispy, then stuffed with tasty treats. There's an audible crunch in each bite...superb!

Very cute Lil place, REALLY good food. Got the 3 rolls, the crab, the shrimp, and the lobster. Every single one was buttery, soft, and very tasty. The lobster bisque is also to die for!! 100/10 would recommend

Fine but very disappointed. We ordered the soup flight and don’t recommend; clam chowder was the only one we liked. We tried the lobster roll and the crab roll; both were okay but would’ve been better warm (they are only served cold). Very slow (admittedly they were short staffed when we visited). Very expensive. Very few beer options.

Wow, I didn’t expect the lobster roll to be that good! I went with the double meat version. My wife doesn’t normally like lobster rolls because they often have too much mayo. Not this time, toasted roll, lightly buttered. Excellent lobster. Going back one more time before we leave!

Great spot for lobster rolls! Split top buttered grilled bun, cold lump lobster topped with hot melted butter. They have shrimp and crab rolls, too. "Boss" it up for more meat, or go Double. They have coleslaw and potato salad. Clam chowder is great! Lobster bisque is rich and flavorful (a scoop would do - the cup was too much). Service was great - the gentleman working was very friendly and polite. They serve Coke products (yay!) And had beer and wine options. There's a little patio for outdoor seating. Short walk from The Del. It's $40 - $50 per person, which for what you get is great, especially as compared to other places in the area. Have been the Lobster West twice and look forward to my next visit when in Coronado!

The lobster roll here is awesome. I got the sampler to try the lobster roll, crab roll and shrimp roll, but I think I'll just get a big lobster roll next time I come. I also got the soup sampler to try all their soup. The clam chowder was my favorite! I love how they have the sampler menu to try all of their rolls and soups! Definitely coming back for the lobster roll and clam chowder. Has a very clean shack type of vibe, not a lot of seating inside, but they have outdoor seating as well.

Clam chowder was creamy, meaty but surprisingly not heavy! Great pair with lobster or crab roll! Cozy place to have a quick bite, 30 min walk if you take the ferry, can explore the island on your way there.
