Yelp
I ate Local Boyz as an OSU student 25 years ago.
This place is so good that if I am even in the same 20mi radius of the restaurant during business hours, I eat there, and have since I graduated.
What they did right then, they still do with amazing consistency. I have no idea why it took me so long to write this review.
Local Boyz is located across the street from the main OSU campus entrance.
It's on the second floor, and requires scaling crappy stairs. It always has.
The bathrooms are awful- always have been, but they have always had soap and running water.
When you enter, it will be a line, maybe short, maybe long.
You'll order from a laminated menu or from the signage.
The restaurant space is pretty spartan, but has what you need. Forks, napkins, and straws are located where you order.
You'll seat yourself, and they'll call your name when your order is ready to pick up.
Meals are served in disposable clamshells. You can choose between small, regular, and large portions. Small would be a filling meal for most. Regular will satisfy someone looking for extra calories, or extra protein. Large is flat out, a lot of food.
My experience of the regular serving (and it's been consistent for a quarter of a century) is to expect a heaping cup of sticky rice, a heaping cup of mac salad, and about a heaping cup of meat.
The Shoyu chicken is delicious and consistent. The beef and beef short ribs are delicious.
I haven't ventured beyond these choices.
Honestly, Local Boyz is like a time capsule, and one I am happy to visit every time I have the chance to.
You'll recommend it to your kids. 5 stars then, and 5 stars now.
