"This relaxed counter-service restaurant on the outskirts of OSU’s campus can get crowded during the school year, as the go-to stop for college students, but the short wait is worth it for the Hawaiian-style plate lunches overflowing with sticky white rice, creamy mac salad, and expertly marinated char-grilled meats. Crowd favorites include the sweet shoyu chicken, which starts at $8, and beef sweet ribs. Be sure to try “da sauce”— a sweet, umami-packed house-made condiment. It’s currently open for takeout and onsite dining." - Mariah Botkin, Sukhjot Sal

Google
Local Boyz Hawaiian Cafe in Corvallis, OR has amazing authentic Hawaiian food. The chicken, steak, hamburger steak, Mac salad are all on point. Cooked well, seasoned well, tastes wonderful. The food was ready relatively quickly. Quaint little dining room, with room to eat outside downstairs if you prefer. We would definitely eat here again!

I don't get it. This place has great reviews. When I came in it was packed with College students. There is a buzz. I ordered the chicken stir fry and was super disappointed. It's basically a big chunk of chicken breast's boiled in water downed teriyaki sauce and a dash of fish bonito. It tastes like something a lazy College student cooks up. If you are a picky eater I think you will like this place.

Oh man, So I was recommended this place by many and it did not disappoint in the least! Will absolutely be returning, Thank you for the tastey food! I tried the sweet and spicy chicken and I couldn't stop eating it. My friend got the mix plate with ribs and pulled pork I believe and he said it was incredible also. Will also be recommending Local Boyz!

Authentic Hawaiian food that is amazing. Great atmosphere good portions and priced well. Easy to find and has its own parking lot. This is a must have if in Corvallis and it’s reputation precedes it. Service was awesome and people were so friendly. Will go back when we are down south again.

I work with adults with disabilities. I came in with a client who had a select palate and was unsure of the offerings. The employee that worked with us went the extra mile to make sure I understood each of the dishes so I was able to communicate clearly to my client. It was so nice to have someone take the time to slow down and give us the service my client needed. The food was excellent, too! She had the ribs and I got teriyaki chicken. We are from Portland, but if we ever find ourselves here again, this experience solidified us as return customers.

If you know, you know. Local Boyz is an institution in Corvallis! The sweet shoyu chicken (formerly huli-huli chicken) is all you need to order. Sorry, Loco Moco. Double mac, single rice is all you need to know. Great as take out. If you haven't been, get there tomorrow.

Google
Locally owned Hawaiian restaurant. When you walk in . You are greeted by the staff . With a welcome. .This was my first time here . The staff member was very helpful. Ask if they could make a special request. For my son . And they where happy to oblige. The food was amazing. Very fresh. Cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this locally owned establishment. Remember you can not go wrong trying new things here . Everything taste perfect. Bon appétit.

Yummy food the locals rave a must try! We were not disappointed! Close to campus! Clean small dining area. Staff was super sweet!

Yelp
Tremendous selection and delicious food. Oh, and the service is top notch, too. My 93-year-old mother loves your teriyaki chicken and we always go to you when I'm in town.

Kadin H.

Yelp
Super tasty, relatively clean. I come here every year we coach for the state tournament. The kids love it. Kalbi is excellent as is the shoyu chicken.

Ashley H.

Yelp
No complaints about the food. The girl at the counter needs some major training in customer service and social skills. She just stared and stayed mute. No what can I get you, no hello, no thank you, not. a. Word. Yikes!

Lance I.

Yelp
Being a "local" place, the order staff had no personality and seemed like we were bothering them. The food was mediocre. It could be being from Hawaii I had too high expectations. I will give them another chance and try a different dish next time.

Josh C.

Yelp
Can't recommend enough. Super comfy ambiance and cool location with crepe and donut shops right downstairs. I walked in and I felt like a local and a regular even though it was my first time. Also despite non-stop orders, the food was delivered extremely quickly. The portions are large and prices are very reasonable. Lastly and most importantly, the food tasted great. The meat was not dry at all which I am very picky about and the Mac salad was probably the most unhealthy and tastiest Mac salad I've ever had!

Yelp
I ate Local Boyz as an OSU student 25 years ago. This place is so good that if I am even in the same 20mi radius of the restaurant during business hours, I eat there, and have since I graduated. What they did right then, they still do with amazing consistency. I have no idea why it took me so long to write this review. Local Boyz is located across the street from the main OSU campus entrance. It's on the second floor, and requires scaling crappy stairs. It always has. The bathrooms are awful- always have been, but they have always had soap and running water. When you enter, it will be a line, maybe short, maybe long. You'll order from a laminated menu or from the signage. The restaurant space is pretty spartan, but has what you need. Forks, napkins, and straws are located where you order. You'll seat yourself, and they'll call your name when your order is ready to pick up. Meals are served in disposable clamshells. You can choose between small, regular, and large portions. Small would be a filling meal for most. Regular will satisfy someone looking for extra calories, or extra protein. Large is flat out, a lot of food. My experience of the regular serving (and it's been consistent for a quarter of a century) is to expect a heaping cup of sticky rice, a heaping cup of mac salad, and about a heaping cup of meat. The Shoyu chicken is delicious and consistent. The beef and beef short ribs are delicious. I haven't ventured beyond these choices. Honestly, Local Boyz is like a time capsule, and one I am happy to visit every time I have the chance to. You'll recommend it to your kids. 5 stars then, and 5 stars now.

Steph H.

Yelp
It always smells so good when I'm in the area. For lunch/brunch, the mene Loco moco always hits just right. No full on food coma afterward. My other go-to order is the short ribs. Service is friendly and fast, and there is usually seating available. My only criticism is that the mac salad is not my fav.

Leumas S.

Yelp
Local Boyz is a wonderfully cozy and quaint place to quickly satisfy your Hawaiin cravings. I got the Regular #9, which was a Shoyu Chicken Stir Fry with a side of mac salad and rice. The chicken was slightly shredded which I appreciated, and vegetables lightly tossed with it. The chicken was perfect: sweet, salty, and extremely tender. However, the vegetables weren't the most pleasant experience as they were a bit undercooked which gave them an "earthier" flavor (which some may enjoy), and also underseasoned which made that earthyness stick out more than it should. Overall, Local Boyz is a fantastic place for a quick bite and I'll gladly go again to try their other options.

Frank C.

Yelp
The food is excellent and offers good value for the amount of food you get. Service is fast and efficient. The place is small and has limited parking. It gets extremely busy so calling for a takeout order is recc'd.

Mariko K.

Yelp
I ate at Local Boyz regularly when I was in undergrad a couple decades ago and they're still going strong. I stopped in recently for their shoyu chicken, and it was just as good as I remembered. It's nice that they let you sub mac salad for veggies. They blast the AC so inside is freezing. There's no outdoor seating, so I found a bench on campus.

Bobby G.

Yelp
This place is a up beat place. Every time I've been there (to get my food to go). The food has been out standing. I get mine to go cause I like to eat at home and we'll there's not a lot of room in the dining areas. Recommend calling your food in cause that place is always packed. You really can't go wrong with anything you get. The Mac & cheese is to die for and I always get there Hawaiian beef. They do you have chicken beef and most of it sweet because it's Hawaiian. They move pretty fast if you just walk in and order but just remember there's a lot of people there so you'll be there for a little bit don't get upset they doing the best they can. And you'll get some good food and want to go back again. So yeah I highly recommend this place it's in Corvallis Oregon. And you'll eat it all every bit of it cause it's that good.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I have heard so many people rave about Local Boyz, so I was excited to try it out. While the food wasn't bad, I was disappointed at the blandness of the food, even after I added sauce. The macaroni salad and the rice were tasty, but the chicken I ordered was bland and dry. They do serve a generous portion, however. Getting into the restaurant is kind of confusing - you can't enter through the door closest to Monroe; there is another door further down that you need to open to enter the restaurant. But you can exit out of the door that you couldn't enter through before. I really want to give Local Boyz a better rating, but my partner also hasn't enjoyed the food here. We're willing to give it another go, though. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Corvallis in general seems to really love Local Boyz, so I'm hoping I'll find something that I enjoy the next time I order food here.

Nikki K.

Yelp
One of my favorite places. Food is amazing and they are really quick. The parking lot is a bit tricky but it's worth it.

Leo G.

Yelp
After so much hype I've finally decided to try this place. It was not so good, the chicken had a metallic taste, was dry, and not marinated so well. The mac salad was also bland and overwhelmingly tasted like pepper. Shaka Brah in Salem is by far the best Hawaiian food I've tried in Oregon. Save your money.

Mason S.

Yelp
Absolutely killer plate- great portion and quality! Would highly recommend Service was great, didn't take long either

Cj O.

Yelp
We ate here for the last time, ( not by choice) our son transferring to another college in another state. Local boys is our favorite place in corvallis. Yummy macaroni salad, Hawaiian steak always tender and flavorful. My husband tried the chicken so yummy. Gosh we will miss this place and OSU so much but will always cheer on the Beavers and local boyz!!

Kyndell D.

Yelp
Best Hawaiian in town, perfect for takeout. Hawaiian style steak is my go to, if you're into sweet and savory you'll love it. Large portions so when you're full you just save it and eat the rest in an hour or so. :)

Caron K.

Yelp
Local Boyz is our go-to, take-out when our local boys are visiting. All three chicken entrées-- the shoyu, teriyaki, and sweet-hot are perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. We throw in a couple of orders of Roy's veggies to offer a healthier choice than mac salad (although our grandsons love your noodles and mayo). Thanks for maintaining your standard of offerings for so many years. I remember when Obama's press team, traveling through, came in and published a note about the café--a delicious and generous local campus eatery. We're grateful that you're still upstairs on the blue corner of Monroe. See you soon!

Yelp
All of there food is delicious, my family and I always go there when we're hungry, it had a lovely atmosphere and all of the staff members are very nice

Amber T.

Yelp
We had their Teriyaki and their Mac Salad last week. Always wondered and portions are generous. One of my favorites!

Christina T.

Yelp
I don't come here often because it's a bit pricey but it's definitely worth the $ when I have it. I'm usually grossed out by mayo but for some reason I find myself craving the Mac salad pretty often. Super delicious!

Colin E.

Yelp
A go to place. Excellent food, fast service. Nothing like it. I'd tell you to go there now but I don't want it to be too full so I can't go LOL.

C H.

Yelp
It's not as good as it used to be. The chicken is okay but the steak is blah just slices meat dry. It's used to be a vibe but not anymore.

Robert B.

Yelp
Local boys combo is absolutely amazing! Great Hawaiian food, great service and is usually pretty quick at getting your food out.

Eyeland L.

Yelp
Delicious. I'm not a big fan of the macaroni salad, but honestly the meat it what you go there for... though my kids loved the macaroni salad! The meat was very tender, juicy and flavorful -- especially the chicken. If you haven't tried this place before I recommend trying it out.

M D.

Yelp
Okay food- shoyu chicken a bit dry until I put more sauce on it, then a little too salty. Menu on here way old (they said they didn't want to pay Yelp)- go by customers photos & they might be out of date----none of employees knew Wi-Fi password. Little hard to find.

Sunil J.

Yelp
Sauce is too good. Service is decently quick but sauce makes up for it. Ambiance be chill but sauce makes up for it.

Cody T.

Yelp
A must if you're in town! I've never left hungry or disappointed. The portions are very generous and everything I've tried has tasted amazing.

Lavaun N.

Yelp
I've been going there for years. It has the best food. In recent years it's usually is with my bff's, which is so wonderful after going thru covid worst times. I'm salivating just thinking of teriyaki chicken, hot & spicey & pulled chicken combo !!

Brandy D.

Yelp
Lived in Hawaii for 10 years. The BEST Hawaiian plate lunch in the Valley! Have to stop every month!

Ariel S.

Yelp
So bomb! Happy to have come across Local Boyz. We were coming here weekly at one point but had to chill. It's that good! I usually get the Shoyu Chicken and beef and comes with a serving of rice and macaroni. (7a) Hits the spot everytime!

Yahir V.

Yelp
The food was very salty for mine and friends liking , it was also very not pleasant looking. Overpriced for the quality of the food and place. Overall service was good just the food.

Siera S.

Yelp
There are some complaints on here about the quality/authenticity of the food and I just don't get that. The true spirit of a Hawaiian plate lunch is diversity and ridiculous portions and both are very well represented here. Sure there are better places in Hawaii, but there are also a lot worse places, and don't even get me started about up here.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Wish I had a picture, but man this is one of my favorite places to get a quick and relatively inexpensive bite to eat. I usually get their 1a (Loco Moco) with the egg over easy/sunny side up. The service here is quick, efficient and friendly. The food is extremely tasty and satisfies my hunger for a good while. If you haven't had food here before, you are missing out for sure.

Joe H.

Yelp
Decent restaurant. The meats are done very well. Everything else is not so good. Prices are fair. Food comes fast. Good, no frills place to come for a quick and good lunch.

Shane S.

Yelp
After visiting Corvallis so many times for OSU related events, my wife and I finally were able to try Local Boys Hawaiian Cafe after an OSU Football game... As Hawaii Transplants to the Willamette Valley, finding good Hawaiian Comfort food can be challenging, at times. Local Boys definitely fills this void for "homesick" Hawaiians... My wife ordered (19a) the Menehune Kalia's Sweet Ribs and I went for (24) the Regular Local Boys Combo (Hawaiian Style Steak, Shoyu Chicken & Sweet Ribs...One tip for first time visitors - A regular plate can probably feed a family of four, which we witnessed while waiting for our order... The must try here is the Kalia's Sweet Ribs...its small bone short ribs (Kalbi), that you can't stop eating...

Michael G.

Yelp
AMAZING I have been living in Corvallis my entire life, is by far the best restaurant. if your reading this do your self a favor and buy the ono steak from local boyz.

Richard R.

Yelp
If you meet someone and they tell you they don't like Local Boyz you should not be friends with them because clearly they are crazy. This is some of the best food in town, if you're visiting Corvallis it's a must have!

Andrew P.

Yelp
It's been 5 years since I've been back to Corvallis. local Boyz is quintessential to OSU, the students and Corvallis. On our way to Ashland I decided we had to stop by OSU and walk through campus one more time and reminisce about my time on campus. After walking around for about an hour, it was lunch time and what better place to get lunch then Local Boyz! On a Saturday there was already a line waiting for the place to open. We walked up 15 min before they open and waited. Once they opened the line moved fairly quick and the food came out pretty fast. We ordered the local boyz combo balahah which was about $18 and it was more then enough to feed two dudes. The sweet ribs and steak is still my favorite. Still taste like when I was in college years ago.

Meagan N.

Yelp
Never disappoints! My boyfriend and I usually go for the largest sized mixed plate with shoyu chicken and Hawaiian style steak. It is more than enough food for two people. We also like to ask for the Mac salad on the side for leftover convenience. Only complaint is the containers that they use. They get soggy and it becomes unappetizing. Easy fix so I'm not sure why they haven't done anything about it yet.

Em J.

Yelp
The food was just fine. I enjoyed the ribs more then the Shoyu chicken. Nothing stood out as great.

Kwan R.

Yelp
If you want a delicious protein and carb dense food this it The place!!! Everything is good here!!! Only downside is they don't open everyday...,

Amanda P.

Yelp
A Corvallis staple and always what I recommend to visitors! Loco moco might look strange but it is tasty!

Pukha L.

Yelp
great food, especially the ribs! not much choice on the sides, so if you don't like macaroni salad or white rice... just put more of da sauce on them!

Linda H.

Yelp
Still one of the best Hawaiian food I have had on the mainland, I make sure to stop by here every time I'm in Corvallis. I ordered the popular shoyu chicken and I think my cousin ordered the grilled teriyaki chicken. The food was ready in a short amount of time and the shoyu chicken is just as I remembered it from when I used to live here. The mac salad has gotten better as I used to get headaches after eating it (I think from too much mayo). The grilled teriyaki chicken was okkk, I would recommend sticking to their most popular dishes.

David H.

Yelp
Huge servings. Tasty grub. Never disappointed. The place is ALWAYS busy. Need I say more?

Jake D.

Yelp
Love this place to death, but they raised prices (again). $15 for my favorite meal just isn't worth it as much these days. Total bummer.

John O.

Yelp
I can say I know a thing or two about Hawaiian food coming from the ninth island (Las Vegas) and Local Boyz does a really great job of making food like I'm use to back home. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was decently busy I would say. The wait wasn't too long before we could order. The menu is really easy to navigate and the question for me was, which one do I want more! I couldn't decided so I got the major meats of the steak, chicken, and the short ribs. They have three sizes and I got the largest size so I could eat my leftovers for dinner. Depending on the size, you get it with different amounts of rice and macaroni salad, in which both are really good so you can't go wrong! My order was taken really quickly and the food came out in a very decent amount of time. No complaints at all. I could see why this is such a popular place amongst people in Corvallis, and college students especially. Take the time to eat some great food if you're in the area!

Bree H.

Yelp
The food is decently cooked but the flavors seem lacking. The macaroni salad seems to only be flavored with black pepper. Ono Hawaiian does much better Mac salad. The teriyaki chicken was well cooked but had almost no flavor once again. But the worst thing is that it is nearly impossible to call in for a pick up order. They need call waiting or a hold service because it's just a constant busy signal for 10+ minutes of trying to call them. And they don't have their own online ordering. Going in means waiting 20+ minutes, besides having to find parking in an area that has little to no public parking spaces.

Heather D.

Yelp
Good food and a great deal. I've tried all their meat options and they never disappoint
