Thanks to Local Foods for supporting all things local by using products from bakeries, farms, ranches, dairies and fishermen in Houston and surrounding regions in Texas to craft their tasty treats.
Their sandwiches are delicious and come with a choice of two sides. So nice to be able to turn any sandwich into a seasonal salad. My favorite is the Garden Sammie filled with Brussels sprouts, avocado, hummus, sprouts, pickled onions and curried cauliflower topped with chicken or salmon. The Seasonal Harvest salad features spiced apples, nuts and goat cheese. Grab a glass of the most refreshing strawberry thyme lemonade, too.
Their current Pop Up market offers both prepared foods as well as a variety of fresh produce, cheeses, bakery items, pastas, sauces and home goods. You can even get a half gallon of hand sanitizer for $22. We have been enjoying the produce boxes featuring fresh veggies from Atkinson Farms. Our last box included beets, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, huge summer squashes, carrots, white and sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, onions, corn, tomatoes and banana peppers. Now I know why their salads are so delicious.
Local Foods also has a wide selection of specialty items available in their pop up marketplace from preserves and jams to ghee and pickled green tomatoes. These are some of the businesses that help make the magic happen at Local Foods-Animal Farm, Atkinson Farms, Bar None Farm of Blessings, Black Hill Meats, Blue Horizon Seafood, BOH Pasta, Brazos Valley Cheese, Covey Rise Farms, Farm to Table, Gundermann Acres, Hives for Heroes, Houston Dairy Maids, Indian Creek Mushrooms, Mr. Maxwell, Moonflower Farms, Pro-Vision School, Slow Dough Bakery, Wild Rose Ranch, and Yaya's Raw.
Great location on San Felipe. Parking can be a challenge, but nice to sit inside or out on the patio(pre-COVID). Thanks for the curbside pickup and for supporting community organizations.
