I found myself back in my old stomping grounds with every intention to go to Nando's. That is until I spotted this Local Foods location. Although I'm a bit salty that this location replaced my former local Panera, when there is quite literally another Local Foods location 10ish minutes down the road (in River Oaks), I felt oddly drawn to the spot.
So after a moderate wait, I found myself sitting pretty with a coffee, app and brunch item at Local Foods, not Nandos...for a grand total of $37.87. Mind you, that's before purchasing $65 in wine from their in restaurant wine shop. Yikes!
Maybe it's a sunk cost fallacy, but I'd 100% do it again. Who knew shrimp chips paired with summer guac like chocolate and peanut butter? Who knew I'd find myself gobbling it down as quickly as my beloved queso. Who knew a pretzel bun worked on a salmon bagel, or as they call it, a salmon sandwich.
Although the oat milk cappuccino was, well, just that, everything else, from the salmon sandwich, to the summer fresh watermelon side, to the check-in from the team was fantastic.
I can see why they're busy. I left feeling full without feeling heavy, and nourished without overindulgent. The shrimp chip satisfied my crispy fried craving without all of the grease, and I managed to get all of my greens, protein, fruit, and healthy fats in one balanced meal. The experience is worth the (reasonable) wait and the price if you're okay with spoiling yourself every now and again. Located in the midst of the trifecta of healthy food concepts including True Foods and Chop and Shop, I'll be frequenting Local Foods a lot more.
