I came here with a friend for an impromptu dinner, and we both enjoyed our experience! It was a bit chilly inside because the front door was kept open; I think we would have enjoyed our time even more with more heating.
I love that everything is farm-to-table and seasonal. Here's what we got:
Honey Roasted Brussel Sprouts: a sizeable portion of sprouts covered in hot honey and sprinkled with walnuts, this was a solid starter. Would have loved a little less honey on the brussels to maintain their crisp a bit better.
Ricotta Caccio e Pepe: my friend ordered this but it ended up being kind of dry, which was unfortunate. She added chicken and liked that, though! I hope that they can improve this dish in the future because the description sounds super scrumptious.
Grass-Fed Meatloaf: I ordered this and it was a hearty and tasty main! The meatloaf was savory and super tender -- like I barely had to press with the side of my fork to cut off a piece. The vegetables were really tasty! They were perfectly steamed, neither mushy nor snappy, and they had a great savory flavor. The server was very kind about my request to swap the mash for their regular potato side, and they were great. I mean, potatoes are potatoes!
Bread Pudding: this was the BOMB.COM!!! I'd been trying to find a good bread pudding for nearly 2 years and nothing really did it for me! But this DID!!!! I was so happy about it!!! First, the portion was incredible. I'm usually not a fan of splitting desserts because I want the whole thing, but there was no way I could eat the bread pudding after my main meal. Second, the texture!!!! BEAUTIFUL!! The perfect blend of custardy and bready, it was amazing. And finally, the taste, of course, was great. Sweet but not too sweet. Lots of cinnamon, yum. And the strawberries on top were super fresh! They had run out of whipped cream, but we weren't missing it, though I'm sure the addition would have been extra delicious. If you're able to, please order!
I'd recommend Local Union 271 for healthy and hearty eats and especially that bread pudding!
