Locàle by Kok au Vin

"Locally sourced ingredients and a deep respect for nature's rhythms are the cornerstones of this cosy establishment. Influences from around the globe and the occasional use of the Mibrasa charcoal oven take things up a notch. The menu features dishes for sharing, such as zingy ceviche made with earthy beetroot or Zeeland mussels cooked in Bruges wheat beer. Nothing overly complicated, just playful, on-trend delicious food." - Michelin Inspector

We had a reservation at 20:30, but the friendly staff made sure that we had a table available 45min earlier. The service was very friendly and attentive, yet a bit inexperienced. I liked the restaurant’s Interieur, although the high chair were uncomfortable after a while. We had a bunch of starters in a ranch from ok (shrimp-croquette) to excellent (mussels). The sourdough bread is highly recommended. My maindish was the catch of the day. I absolutely enjoyed the fresh fish. As a desert we had the vanilla ice cream with chocolate. It was quite heavy on chocolate, but really tasty. Overall a good experience without excelling.

A fantastic start to our European trip. Our first night in Bruges—and what a memorable dinner at Locàle by Kok au Vin. This Michelin Guide-listed restaurant offers both à la carte and tasting menus. We chose the 4-course tasting menu with a 3-glass wine pairing, and it was an excellent decision. Every course was creative yet approachable, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The service throughout was warm, attentive, and highly professional. The wine pairing complemented the dishes well, finishing on a high note with a lovely Belgian rosé. Our menu included: • An amuse-bouche of smoked pijana • Pea and cucumber gazpacho with fresh cheese • Vol-au-vent with farm chicken, white asparagus, and morels • Red gurnard with zucchini, fennel, spinach, and Choron sauce • “Flowers & Bees” dessert featuring egg liqueur, rhubarb, honey, and elderflower The red gurnard was a particular highlight—perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking for refined, modern Belgian cuisine in a calm and stylish setting. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, we were lucky enough to get a table. The overall experience was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend trying the dessert—Advocaat (egg liqueur)—it was truly amazing!

Delicious fine dining, a real treat. We had the tasting menu with paired wines and enjoyed it very much. Also had the cheese selection which was superb. The service and atmosphere were very good.

The food was good overall (I recommend the smoked eel), but it was too expensive in our opinion. The small pizza is too average for its price. Also, one of the clients was celiac and we reinforced that, however they still placed bread over one of the dishes we ordered. Nonetheless, overall the experience was nice, the employees were sympathetic and the environment is cool.

A wonderful experience, came on a weekday lunch wasn't packed. Both a-la-carte and set menu was available. Food was delicious, not overly complex but all the flavors really complemented each other. Highly recommend the eggplant, one of the best eggplant dishes I've ever had! Razor clam dish was also excellent, especially the sauce however we did have sand in a few pieces of our razor clams. Service was great, they were really kind in answering our questions around the food. Menu itself is quite short. Price was very affordable, would recommend.

Down to earth, subtle, humble flavours matched with perfect wines. My favourite dish had to be the burratta, was super lekker with the bacon. The steak was nice but just lacked the flavor or a jus on side to make it perfect. The effort put into the dishes is top quality and the atmosphere is lovely. Nice place to visit for a pleasant lunch or romantic dinner.
