Located in the food hall in Colony square. No lines when I approached, and the counter process was a breeze. Wifey and I reviewed the menu, ultimately deciding on sharing the Curry Chicken dinner. We paired it with rice and peas, and it came with two extra sides – our choices were the plantains and the coconut Caribbean corn. There were many options to choose from for meats and sides. They took down my phone number to shoot me a message when the food was ready. A quick text and call later, and we were good to go. The plating kinda caught me off guard a little. I didn't really expect it to be in a huge bowl.  Wifey and I dug in and it was definitely big enough for us to share since we were not super hungry.  She thought it was spicy but, I did not. My spice tolerance is much higher than hers. Overall, the food proved to be a winner – delicious and seasoned well.

No line when I approached. Staff super nice. Wifey and I both had the barbecue jerk chicken, she with rice and peas, and coconut corn. I had with sauted veggies and cabbage. Food was ready fast and very nice sized portions. Delicious!!

I had Curry Chicken among other things - I got 5 knuckles with little to no chicken attached.

Yelp
Grabbed some food from here while at the Colony Square. No line. But since it was close to closing they ran out of plantains and the mushrooms. I hella wanted some plantains too. Anywho, I ordered the jerk chicken, rice & peas and cabbage. I also ordered jerk shrimp to add. The jerk wasn't too spicy, and I love spicy, so it was pleasant and could taste all the flavors. The rice & peas was good, as well as the cabbage. Everything was good. Especially considering it was the end of day. The quality didn't lack. I'd eat here again.

Yelp
Locale Carribean Café is located in the back left corner of Politan Row at Colony Square. It's a small minority owned restaurant with a cute vibe. I ordered from the revamped menu you get a choice of a base (Coconut Rice, Rice and Peas, or Mixed Greens), a choice of Protein (Grilled Jerk Chicken, Jerk Shrimp, Curry Chicken, Oxtails, or Jerk'd Oyster Mushrooms) and can pick two sides (Steamed Cabbage, Coconut Caribbean Corn, Sweet Fried Plantains, or Plantain Chips) For my meal I ordered: Grilled Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas, Cabbage, and Sweet Plantains I also had: Cocoa Bread and a Pineapple Soda The Grilled Jerk Chicken was seasoned well (seemed to be brushed over with Jerk BBQ sauce) as was the Cabbage which had great flavor and was cooked perfectly (not overdone and mushy). I did take a star, because as other reviewers mentioned the rice was a tad bit dry but had a good taste and the plantains could be cooked longer. I appreciated the plating of the food items to be aesthetically pleasing and having the cabbage separated to keep the food from being soggy was a plus. Also, my interaction with the employees of this business were stellar. Everyone was pleasant and professional. While I was there I met the owner, Taylur she was a pleasure to interact with and is making adjustments to her business. I look forward to watching this business grow and improve. If you're wondering if I'll be back... I definitely will.

Yelp
Went to IPIC Theatre in Midtown to see Scream VI (sooooo freaking good) with the Fam and we decided to eat ion the food court in colony square AKA Politan Row! It's such a vibe, they play good music and a variety of restaurants to choose from. I love Caribbean food and decided to try Locale Cafe , I ordered Curry shrimp, coconut rice, rice and peas, steamed cabbage, sauté zucchini and carrots! It was delicious, it was a long wait for my order; However, the food was hot and freshly prepared. It was really good and super spicy, I will go back again next time in the area. There is a parking deck under colony square, charges $3 and the will validate for 4.5 hours, we actually paid $3 which was awesome!

Yelp
Terrible "Caribbean" food. Non-Caribbean people in the kitchen preparing Caribbean food. Cabbage severely undercooked. Rice was mushy and weird. Plantains okay. Met the Operations Manager who alleged she's a chef and guaranteed the food would be good because she trained the guys in the kitchen. I knew better. People outside the culture can't replicate the culture. Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, you didn't address the quality of the food or my experience, just your emotions. I didn't say non-Caribbean people can't cook; no one in the kitchen was black. Didn't feel right. And definitely didn't taste right. Take the feedback and turn it around, use it to your advantage. Invite me back. Prove me wrong vs I hope you find better food elsewhere. That's a given.

Tamira M.

Yelp
One of the many restaurants located inside Colony Square's Politan Row food hall. I went on a Friday during our training's lunch break. They only had two employees working (one at the register and another cooking). The staff remained their cool and seemed calm even as the line grew. The line means they have satisfied customers and/or folks interested in tasting their cuisine which is a good thing. I patiently waited and it didn't take long because I got a beef patty and peas and rice with oxtail gravy. Very comparable in taste to other Jamaica restaurants. The beef patty had a spicy kick to it. The rice and peas are really red beans. The prices are slightly higher than a neighborhood restaurant, probably because of the location, but not bad at all. I would be a repeat customer.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I love Caribbean food, especially Jamaican. So I was excited to see this place here. I ordered the jerk chicken, Jamaican patty, and the rice and beans. I was disappointed. The chicken was good but it was bbq chicken not jerk chicken. The rice and beans weren't like rice and beans from Jamaica. They had a different taste with barely any beans in it at all. And the Jamaican patty wasn't good at all. I didn't even finish it. And it was 6 dollars for one. That's insane. Overall, I wouldn't come back. This place was pricy for what it was. There's better places in this food hall. Parking is really expensive. Try to find street parking

Stacey A.

Yelp
I got the jerk chicken, coconut rice, rice and peas, cabbage, corn, beef, patty, and Coco bread. I agree with one of the other reviewers who said the chicken was just barbecue chicken not jerk chicken. The coconut rice was a little crunchy for some reason. The rice and peas were good. The cabbage lacked flavor and didn't have any thyme or spice to it. The corn was meh, didn't hate it and didn't love it. The beef patty was good, but I'm glad I got it for $3 during happy hour because $6 for that is a joke. The Coco bread must've been frozen and defrosted because you could taste the freezer burn on it. That was such a shame. I wouldn't recommend them or eat here again.

Yelp
Coming from South Florida and having a LOVE for authentic Caribbean food, this place HIT THE SPOT!! Although this is located in a food hall, it is easily the best food in there. The patties...AMAZING!! I had the curry chicken AND curry shrimp and was not disappointed!! I will be returning!!

Amber C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the jerk chicken I got from here. My boyfriend got oxtails and he loved them. Our only complaint was the rice wasn't fully cooked but it was really good and flavorful

Tiffany W.

Yelp
I really enjoy coming down to Politan Row, but have found I REALLY enjoy the oxtails from Locale Caribbean. They were sweet, savory & spicy- I have it with the rice and peas which were surprisingly seasoned very well! The fried plantains were a sweet & crispy balance. Grabbed myself a beef patty and pine-ginger kola. The service was great and the wait time was A LOT less than some of the other stalls. We'll done Locale We'll done.

Tanya C.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of dining at the new food hall in Midtown. We went specifically to check out the food at LOCALE CAFE! and we were all very pleased. The jerk chicken was flavorful and cooked well. The oxtail had "TRY ME" written all over it and let me tell you, not only were they absolutely delicious. They were cooked to perfection! We all voted the RICE and PEAS the star of the show! I would go back just for it. I have eaten there 3 times last week. That says a lot, because I am a very picky eater and choose wisely when dining out. Not only is the food fantastic. So was the owner. Her customer service and people skills were very welcoming. It is so important that I feel welcome at the places I spend my money. I felt like family at Locale Cafe! As long as they are there. They have a lifelong customer. I wish you much success!

Luhanece T.

Yelp
i had the spicy beef patty and coco bread and it was so good! reminds me of home. it's a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for that's for sure! i would come again!

Yelp
It's located on the far left corner inside Politan Row at Colony Square in midtown. Parking is available in the garage and can easily be validated for free 2-3 hour from the front desk near the entrance of Politan Row. This spot was one of the few places I haven't eaten from so I decided to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the rice and peas with the grilled jerk chicken with steamed cabbage and plantain chips. The associate taking my order didn't really know how the buzzers worked so it ended up going off before my order was ready. I got my order to-go so once I got home, I saw that they had forgotten my side of plantain chips. The jerk chicken also lacked seasoning and it was undercooked. I was definitely disappointed in the meal. The rice and peas were good though.

B R.

Yelp
Was visiting High museum from out of state and found this place. I only ordered plantains as I was not hungry. Took it back home to eat. After tasting, I wished I had carried out a few other things from menu!! What I ordered was exceptional!!

Jennifer V.

Yelp
I was so excited to see a Caribbean spot offering Jamaican patties my first time at Politan Row I came to a halt and ceased my food search. I ordered two patties with coco bread, red beans and rice and a ginger pineapple soda. I couldn't believe how expensive items that are usually really cheap could be: $24.50! I figured the rent must be expensive in this location so I kept it moving and once I put those red beans and rice in my mouth I proceeded to choke. Super dry, stale, flavorless rice and powdery beans. How old was this food? The patties caved in on themselves from having almost no filling inside. The coco bread and bottled soda were good. But if this is what we get for $24.50 maybe you need to increase your pricing so you can really show yourselves in your food quality, take pride and represent how amazing Caribbean food is!

Jameka B.

Yelp
I like the revamped menu. I wish I still had the picture of my food. I eat the rice n peas, grilled jerk chicken, cabbage and fried plantains. It's a good amount of food as well. It's not your typical Caribbean food but it does fill that spot when I want some and I'm nearby.

Sahara B.

Yelp
I went to pick up lunch for myself and my sister. Decided on this spot. I ordered curry shrimp with rice, beans, and cabbage. It was good. The shrimp were a nice size, slightly salty. My sister got jerk chicken, a beef patty, and coco bread. She wasn't blown away. Pretty average Jamaican food. The coca bread is like a less sweet version of Hawaiian rolls. Not a must try item. The lady at the register wasn't the warmest person to order from, but overall it was decent. In hindsight, I'd look around at other options first, but we were in the mood for Caribbean food.

Mike W.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot a few days ago while visiting colony square for the first time since the renovation. I ordered the jerk chicken wings and red beans and rice(not rice and peas). The chicken was ok. I love Caribbean food so I hate to say it, but I've had better.Overall it was good. The red beans and rice was a little different for my taste because I was expecting New Orleans style, I was a little thrown off because I was actually looking for rice and peas because of the Caribbean food that they served. But it was mainly just rice with a few peas scattered in. Overall it was good but a little pricey. I paid a little over $14 for 2 wings rice and a Diet Coke. Next time I won't be lookin for Rice and peas mon!

Yelp
30 minute wait for food on a slow day. I was told I would receive a text but didn't. Instead I received a call from a random number. Food was cold as if it had been sitting for at least 15-20 minutes. When I complained, they didn't offer to reheat or remake the food, only offered to refund as if I hadn't already waited over 30 minutes for food! I contacted the manager, Jessica, and she was very apologetic, offering to have the staff remake the food but I was over it at this point. I definitely wouldn't waste my time ordering from here ever again.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in the newly opened food hall Politan Row at Colony Square. You can fine Locale nestled in the corner but this hidden gem offers flavorful authentic Caribbean cuisine. We had the jerk chicken, rice and plantain which was simply delicious. The chef was there and spoke with us as we were hoping to have the oxtail. FYI oxtail is available beginning at 4pm because it sells out so fast. You will be happy to know it is prepared overnight to perfection. The presentation was nice as well. It was great to see the face behind the food. You won't be disappointed with anything you order.

Hunter W.

Yelp
I ordered coconut rice/peas & rice with curry chicken, fried plantains, and coconut corn. The flavor of the chicken was good and it was tender, but I had more bone than meat... the flavor beside the chicken was lacking and I had pieces of bone & cartilage in my bowl making it incredibly hard to enjoy. The plantains were okay... for $6 patty is not worth it either. Overall this meal came out to a pricy $25 for a bowl & beef patty, which the bowl I could not finish unfortunately due to all the bone fragments. I really wanted to enjoy this place as it sounded delicious. The employees were very friendly!

Sean F.

Yelp
New stall in the recently opened Colony Square food court. I would recommend giving it a try! Highlights: The Locale Patty had a unique bun to it. I liked the flavor. You can choose chicken or beef. We got the chicken and I assume it was jerk chicken, it had a nice kick to it. The Braised Oxtail Bowl was solid. The oxtail and the slaw or cabbage that they had it it were delicious. The beans and rice were a little bland, however. They could've used whatever seasoning or marinade that the oxtail and cabbage had. Room for Improvement: The Grilled Corn had shaved coconut on top that we weren't a huge fan of. It was cooked perfectly, however.

Renee T.

Yelp
I'm beyond satisfied with the tasty selection from this spot. The jammin jerk chicken was filled with so much flavor and the meat fell off the bones. My husband told me, "Damn these oxtails is the truth". They serve a healthy portions and the presentation is on point. Everything was amazing !

Yohannes B.

Yelp
Part of Atlantas latest food and lounge destination at the Colony Square, Locale cafe is definitely one to watch out for and definitely a must try. The cafe highlights bold Caribbean dishes with friendly hospitality and enough zaz to make you come back for more. Absolutely recommend the jerk wings paired with the Thing! Thank me later. Also ask to get your wings grilled a bit more.

Lani H.

Yelp
very disappointing. The curry chicken had barely any curry on it. The jerk chicken was pretty decent but the jerk sauce itself tasted more like a spicy bbq sauce. The rice was very mushy and the plantains needed to be cooked longer. The spicy beef patty was pretty good.

Zoner C.

Yelp
Girl at counter had a rude countenance. She essentially flinged my food at me. She was more interested in her phone Good was also cold

Jeff H.

Yelp
This place is OK for fast food. I got jerk chicken cabbage and Caribbean corn. The chicken tasted really good, I just thought for the price they did not give you very much chicken, but they loaded on the rice and veggies. All considered, I would still recommend it.

D C.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends and had the Braised Oxtail Bowl and I was extremely disappointed. For $18 I expected so much more. If the name of the dish includes "Braised Oxtail" one would expect that to be the highlight of the meal. But no! There were (3) -- one inch wide oxtail BONES included with mostly fat on them and maybe a smidgen of meat on them. There were lots of red beans and rice however, "some" cabbage and a few plantain strips. When I finished eating, I felt like I had ordered tapas (1 small plate) or perhaps an appetizer. This was not filling by any means. Maybe there are other items on the menu that would've been a better pick but I will not be back to find out.

Courtney R.

Yelp
Sooo this place use to serve decent Jamaican food recently it seems they changed ownership hands and let me tell you this is not Jamaican food. The "Caribbean corn" is canned corn warmed and put on bowl the "jerk mushrooms" are canned pizza style mushrooms... needless to say I'll never be back this is not Caribbean/Jamaican it's a cafeteria bowl at best

Mr C.

Yelp
I was excited to visit this location since I discovered the food hall at Colony Square. Spent $50+ and the oxtail was tough, rice n beans were dried out. Only thing decent was the spicy patty and zucchini n carrots.

Sherard R.

Yelp
The oxtails there are amazing and the service from the manager Seneida was exceptional. This place is definitely highly recommended and on my go back list to enjoy more dishes there.

John I.

Yelp
IF they have what you want you may wait 15 minutes and STILL get COLD food. Terrible Jamaican food.

Matt M.

Yelp
Very good oxtail, spicy rice rice and beans, a tiny bit of cabbage and plantains...but $18 for a small takeout container that's worth about $6? And oxtail is mostly bone. That's the price of hipster, I suppose. Will seek out more authentic options next time.

Aiyana H.

Yelp
I visited this black owned establishment at Politan Row on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. When I originally wanted to visit this business previously on Monday, December 20, 2021 it was closed. This was despite the hours stating they are open daily. When we were able to patronize this establishment, we ordered two jerk chicken plates which came with: jerk chicken, plantains, cabbage, and red beans/rice. They provide a buzzer that alarms when the food is ready. They had an assortment of Jamaican style soft drinks and I included the menu in this post for further review of their dining selections. I wanted to order the grilled corn on the cob, which they were out of the same way most black businesses run out of food on the regular. I didn't like the fact that they don't bring the food to you, when the buzzer alarms you have to go get the food yourself. Also the guy at the counter halfway had his mask on meaning he might as well not even worn a mask. The food did come out fast within 10 minutes. Upon tasting the food, the red beans/rice was bland and a bit dry. The jerk chicken had a bit of a sweet taste, but was cooked well and included two pieces which had nice crispy skin. The cabbage was crispy and not over cooked. I had to use the cabbage juice to give the rice/beans some flavor and moistness. The plantains were also a bit dry and I feel slightly undercooked, but they did have the sweet flavor plantains should have. I feel this was average Jamaican cuisine and nothing to write home about in any capacity, especially given the price of $15 a plate. I don't really recommend this business to anyone because there are much better Jamaican restaurants in the city. Just do your research and find a better place with more flavorful, authentic Jamaican cuisine. I would only recommend someone patronize this business if they're at Politan Row and have a craving for basic Caribbean food. They definitely are probably only at Politan Row because there aren't many other Caribbean establishments in the area.

Britt W.

Yelp
I went to colony square to try this other restaurant and also tried the jerk wings from here. I'm back today to get dinner me and my husband almost got a divorce because he ate some of my wings . They are amazing

Raymond C.

Yelp
Had the Jerk Wings. Beautiful flavor. Reminds me of back home. Will definitely be back. Only thing is that they don't serve the oxtail bowl until after 4pm. So if you're going for that then just a heads up
