As the nearest coffee shop to our apartment, our first experience made it easy to happily make a repeat visit in the rain. The laid-back(?)atmosphere gives that relaxed welcome vibe. Their service and range of snacks, including vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy -free options are really good, and their coffee fantastic!

I think I just found my new favorite cafe. The vibes are great, the service is excellent and the food and drinks were top quality. Their menu looks great, I can’t wait to try more items. The service was just the best, keep up the good work!

Dang—y’all really gonna serve so much single-use-plastic, when you’re just a block away from the beach?? I am glad you have for-here options (which I happily asked for) but it seems none of your other patrons know to ask for them. I’m appalled by the amount of trash being created! We all know by now that over 90% of plastics (which are made from fossil fuels) do NOT get recycled. So how can you help your customers do better? I see you have a sign about no plastic straws, which is great, but doesn’t mean much when you’re selling this much coffee wrapped in plastic. Maybe you can ask customers if they’re having their drink to stay? And encourage a real mug? It’s such a shame to be a beachside cafe that’s contributing to hurting the ocean. Thanks for considering greener options. And if you’re a customer reading this: you can ask for a reusable mug to stay!

Got a coffee and sea salt cookie. Atmosphere was surf cool, service was friendly and warm! Food and bev tasted fresh and good. The counters were a bit sticky and when I paid with a couple dimes and nickel they said they only accepted quarters. Bizarre but I got what I wanted, thanks!

I had a great experience at Locals Collective. The service was friendly and quick, making my visit even more enjoyable. I ordered a vanilla latte, and it was perfect—smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. The croissant with egg and cheese was absolutely delicious—flaky, buttery, and satisfying. Definitely a place I'll be returning to for both the coffee and the food!

My go to place after a surf lesson!! I love their delicious morning sammy, which I ask for no cheese due to lactose intolerance, and they’re always able to accomodate. I love their coffee, I love their matcha, and I love the overall atmosphere of the place.

Great little spot to stop for breakfast or coffee before or after catching some waves. 🏄🏻‍♀️ You also may see lots of customers working on their computer while enjoying a brew. The breakfast burrito is the bomb, avacado toast is delicious and there is a large selection of coffee and espresso options. No need for Starbucks when you have Locals Collective....👍🏻

They nicest people work here and it's a great place to meet with friends or work on your computer. The food and drinks are SO good! We had the breakfast sandwich, vegan cookie, mint lemonade and several coffee drinks. They also have surfing merch since it's a surf school. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommended!

The location is in a modern building next to the ocean, and the ambiance has a relaxed surf vibe. The staff is friendly, and the coffee was hot and energizing. I can't comment on the food, but overall, it's a cute place worth visiting.

Had a nice post-surf breakfast burrito at this adorable, cheery little cafe close to the beach. The burrito was nothing crazy to write home about in my opinion, and I thought it was small for the price, but this place gets four stars for the vibes.

A great place for drinks and food on your way too or from the beach! Our group of 4 went in on a Saturday morning around 11 to grab food and drinks to go. I got the watermelon juice and wrap. The juice was yummy and the wrap was okay but didn't blow me away. I will say that it did come out very quickly despite there being several orders in front of us! The space has plenty of room to sit both inside and out. The workers were also very friendly despite the rush. They also have a bathroom to use if you are a customer. Would recommend!

Nice beach vibe cafe and cool interiors. The place was packed. The cake hit the spot is a good way to celebrate the new year!

I like how many vegetarian options this place has, that was an automatic plus for me. The burrito itself was a bit pricey but good! And the coffee is nice too. There's a decent amount of seating and has beach-vibes. Would come again!

I love this spot. The breakfast burritos are so good - worth every penny - they even wrote my name on hot sauce with it. The ambiance is nice and spacious. You can breathe while you have your coffee. The staff is very helpful, and yet super efficient. This is in a great location right off the boardwalk. I'll be back soon.

Cute surfer vibe coffee shop with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee is bold and tasty, decently priced too. Lost a star for not having decaffeinated options. I think the menu is limited with hot items and the service did take longer than I would have like, but items were fresh. I had the burrito, tasted good but needs some type of sauce. They do have a great selection of pastries and bakery items some of which are vegan and gluten free. I would visit again.

Great spot to pick up some healthy breakfast bowls or burritos, smoothies, wraps, coffee, and beer. Good prices, great staff, chill surfer tiki vibe. Plenty of seating inside, also on the outside deck patio, outlet to charge up, and clean bathroom. Awesome music too. A cold $5 Narragansett was perfect after running a half marathon on the nearby boardwalk.

This was such a cool place to grab a bite before or after the beach! However, I was very disappointed with their options, they had NOTHING left to eat at 4pm! Their smoothies are also "pre-mixed" I guess where they cannot made any substitutions or additions which I really disliked. I was hungry and decided to go with a smoothie (all they had left) which wasn't great. It was semi warm and watery whereas I like my smoothies cold and thicker. I would've loved to try their food because they have great options but if you go here make sure it's early! They do sell cool merch inside & rent out surf boards.

Staff was super friendly, really chill vibes in the space. Very clean, open, plants, fresh air and also being used as a working space for people w laptops. The salted peanut butter bar and coffee was really good here. Very crumbly bar with very good flavor and the coffee was very tasty. I'll def be back next time I'm in the area

Friendly staff, Nice calm place to do work and hoMework if needed. I got a burrito 11$. Taste is on point but deff not worth 11$. That's definitely the location and up and coming area to thank for the higher prices. And this wasn't intentional but all cool have to wear hair nets for a reason. And the reason for that is so that I wouldn't have long hairs in my burritos . I brought it back and it's getting remade as we speak. But no biggie it happens. But hair nets should be worn.

What cafe do you know that not only serves offer but rents out surf boards? This spot is super cute and convenient to stop by for a quick brekkie and board rental. I love the acai bowls and smoothies. All of the staff is friendly and I'll definitely be back.

Been going here for 3 years. Service has gone down pretty badly. New staff isn't well trained or attentive.

I just moved to the area and am SO grateful this coffee shop is a short walk from the A train I take to work. I stopped in this morning and had a hard time deciding what to get because of all the appetizing options. I decided on the PB & coffee smoothie BUT sadly they were not serving this at the moment. So, I ordered the Chai Latte with Califia farms oat milk, ( I'm VERY appreciative of the fact they use Califia over Oatly) but the chai latte was disappointingly plain. I felt like I was drinking straight up oat milk, and wished I had just went to Dunkin across the street for a chai latte... To be fair, it's difficult to find a good Chai Latte out here, so I'm gonna cut the baristas a little bit of slack. The service was good and quick, and the avocado toast and açaí bowl looked fresh and was well presented so I'll def be back to try other options. I just know that this is not the place for a chai latte.

I don't get it. The menu still says a small coffee 3.50. They been charging 4 but today it's 4.25. Just like a greedy landlord they've priced me out. Not to mention they've changed the tip options to 25/30/35%. This makes it feel as tho even with the rise in prices I still need to supplement the employees wages more than a full service establishment.

Good, black coffee and yummy chocolate chip cookies. They also have a nice menu for hot breakfast items and açaí bowls. Covid precautions in place, they measure temp if you want to sit and enjoy your treats. Great seating by the bright windows and felt spaced out enough from other patrons.

Locals Collective is such a fun shop! The aesthetics are excellent and it's such a welcoming environment. The coffee is unreal, too! I'm a bit of a coffee purist and I was very satisfied. I'm also writing this review on behalf of myself and three friends who all enjoyed themselves immensely.

The pb and coffee drink is amazing, I'm obsessed. Prices are up there, but it's honestly worth it bc the quality. I also ordered the avocado toast which was really good. Workers are nice and welcoming which I love! This is my new spot!

Highly underrated spot for coffee, breakfast and treats. The food is delicious and the coffee is the best in Rockaway.

Great Açaí bowl. But, Comically slow service considering there were 4 people working and the menu is so limited. Solid spot for a cup of coffee and a snack if you're not in a hurry and don't mind waiting while stoned employees move in slow motion to prep your order.

Honestly way too liquidy for a smoothie,normally smoothies are more thick this one is very liquidy, I'm not satisfied with taste

I love this spot. The espresso drinks are great and they've got some tasty baked goods. Plenty of room for pandemic-friendly social distancing. The baristas are the best. Multiple times I've come by with my baby in the stroller, then gone to wait outside while my drink is made. Two different baristas have gone the extra mile of bringing my drinks outside to me -- so kind! I appreciated that so much and wanted to call it out. Thanks Locals, glad to be your neighbor!

A+++ place for brunch , snacks , drinks. Mango/ black iced tea is delish Breakfast burrito is so yummy and the eggs are light as air. Bakery items are A++ especially the gf almond/ lemon pound cake. YUMMO. A must visit in this super cool area. Friendly + welcoming neighborhood spot.

Avocado toast and coffee served with a smile. Iced coffee was wonderful. The shop is decked out with surfer decor. We are visiting from Idaho otherwise this would be my daily go to.

I am not such a connoisseur of burritos but what's not to like about this egg burrito with avocado and some spice. It tastes better than it looks and the look is spot on. Also, they just added some beach perfect alcoholic beverages to their menu. This place is in a great location, it offers indoor and outdoor sitting and has healthy food options that are not lacking in taste department.

I purchased an acai bowl and left a tip. Never received the almond butter and waited 45 minutes for the bowl, after having to remind them that I ordered it. After telling the employee that I still haven't received it, I was met with an undeserved attitude and was felt unwelcomed. I come here constantly and this same situation has been happening more and more recently. This will be my last visit.

This centrally located locally owned coffee shop & cafe is exactly what this area in Rockaway needed. When you picture a beach town coffee spot, you'd be thinking of Locals Collective. The interior directly represents the owners passion and love for surfing (as they also own a surf school on the same beach) so it's nice to see the beach/surf incorporated so swimmingly into the design. Their selection of caffeine is everything you'd want to find in a coffee shop. From cappuccinos & delicious Matcha lattes to various types of healthy smoothies, this is certainly a refreshing way to recaffeinate. In addition to hot/cold brewed beverages, they also have hard seltzer's and beers! Drop in the morning for a coffee & head back over for a cold one after your surf. Locals Collective also boasts fantastic sandwiches. Whether grabbing an avocado toast for bkfast or getting a pastry on the fly, this spot encompass many of our favorite healthy foods. Finally, these beverages & delicious sammies wouldn't be made possible with out the incredible staff. From the smile & immediate engagement you receive as soon as you enter the door to the undeniable love they put into every sip or bite, this cafe gets a perfect 10. Exceptional customer service, a killer menu, and a welcoming environment is what you'll receive when coming here. "Don't forget to tip your kooks"

I dug the instrumental playlist offering a soothing backdrop to animated conversations of locals reading, chatting, and sipping a variety of savory-looking drinks and treats. The oat chai with a shot of espresso was topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon right at the bar, which I appreciated. It tasted smooth and delicious, which makes sense given their use of Brooklyn Roasting Company coffee beans. My husband ordered an espresso, which came piping hot and had hints of citrus. The customer service was pleasant, too!

I'm really trying to figure out a word that can sum up the amazing the experience I just had here, and I can only think of Homey. From the service (Michael) to the espresso to the açaí bowl, everything is above and beyond. You can taste the freshness in the fruits they use, the açaí is blended to perfection right in front of you, and the portion is perfect! From the first sip, you can taste the precision and finesse that goes into pulling the perfect shot, and I couldn't leave without grabbing another. Without a doubt, 10/10 I would recommend to everyone. Also, they accept card, apple pay and cash.

I was apprehensive about visiting a new spot in this neighborhood as it's newly erected businesses haven't gotten their "beach legs" as of yet. I was pleasantly surprised by the swift service and the yummy treats. The Açaí bowl was perfectly portioned and just sweet enough. The espresso I ordered also hit the spot, especially potent for me because I hadn't had coffee in a while, but it was just what the doctor ordered. I shared a quesadilla and a breakfast burrito and both were treats for enjoying. My only quibble would be that the quesadilla could have had more cheese. Next time i guess?

Really, really, really good coffee. Food is fine, but the coffee is great. Nice inviting space with lots of seating indoor and outdoor. We came on a Sunday and found a relaxed, mixed crowd of surfers and young families picking up before/after beach activities.

Leaky coffee lids ruined umpteen shirts. Keep giving them a chance thinking they would have fixed the problem. Nope... another good shirt stained...

Yoooo. Pretty much the type of all day cafe that you wished existed out here but then actually didn't but then Mikey and Mike did it and you're like whoa where u been all my life. Imagine Bill and Ted own a surf school and then decided to buy an espresso machine that type of vibes. And then because around 3pm you don't know whether to drink more coffee or crack a cold one they're doing beer and wine too. Who am I kidding that feeling hits me at 11am some days but I haven't tried buying beer that early yet I'll report back. 1 Star for vibes and space to hangout 1 Star for beerability 1 Star for an extensive food menu like actually get fed fed 1 Star for the sweets it's like all this fancy stuff I get in Williamsburg but I'm eating it facing the ocean Minus a star for using Brooklyn Roasting Co yeah I went there- this guy coffees

It really was a remarkable experience at the Locals Collective. I loved the experience. Each and every single menu item that we purchased was extremely fresh and delicious. And also, the service was amazing and the staff was very polite. If you haven't tried Locals Collective, definitely do.

Place is awesome... great food and better vibes! In the heart of the bubbling arverne by the sea community. First stop off the A train in rockaway, a block off the beach. Definitely a spot you need to check out.

Space is clean and open. Good to chill in. However, the food is terrible. Threw away acaii bowl. Burrito was meh and avo toast was meh, needs more flavors, had to drown it in hot sauce.

Charming corner spot on the way to the beach or A train. Food, beverages, clothes, surf club. Staff needs focus on customer care - pricey food and beverages should be served with attention to detail. Nope - not the burnt corner from a tray of bars. May I have a napkin? "Oh, you can go over there and tear off some paper towel." Great potential- needs some polish.

Can't say enough good things about the Locals Collective and what the founders have done in and around the community over the last 10 years. They've now created thoughtful work space and cafe. Attached are storage units for the NYC commuter surfer community. The food, coffee, staff, and community surrounding locals is an amazing place with great energy. You can meet and mingle with positive people from all walks of life. Stop in there and try out some of their coffee carefully selected from Brooklyn Roasters! You can't go wrong.

Giving the place 3 stars because the staff is really nice however what I don't like is that they DO NOT give free coffee refills. I'm a local so I guess they don't just to make more money off the tourists that come for the beach. Who knows but that doesn't sit well with me at all. Literally they charge the same amount for one coffee for a refill.

Authentic local Rockaway business with incredibly fresh food and coffee. Highly recommend the açaí and breakfast burrito. One of the best breakfast spots on the peninsula!!

Great space, very friendly staff, and love having a place to work and relax after the beach. Reluctantly knocking one star for the price of coffee and the size of cup. Its very good and the best in the area however it's $3.25 and there is only one size (seems like it's 10oz). Add a .75charge for almond or oat and you're at 4 dollars for your coffee, Soho prices in the Rockaways where you have public housing a stones throw away. They could do better.
