It's a sad day for us. We have been enjoying Locals Monday night for roughly 10 years as a family for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and date nights.
This week (4/17/2023) my wife, daughter in law, stepson, and I started to put our order in. As usual my wife modifies her order to be less spicy and my stepson orders his favorite roll without asparagus. The waitress tells us they have a new policy, NO ORDER MODICATIONS. We ask to speak to the manager. The manager arrives at the table and we discuss. She says they have had this policy for a month and "we've found it works quite well. The kitchen production has really increased. They are too "busy" to handle special orders."(see pic 4) We asked if this new policy is posted because it isn't on the menu (see attached pic 2 and 3). She said it is posted on the front door (see pic 1). We were shocked. It's pretty standard service for sushi anywhere that they will prepare it how ever you like "fresh" not premade.
To be honest, we have felt the quality of the food and customer service has gone down since Covid began at Locals Mt Pleasant. The food looks bland. The sushi pieces fall apart. The rolls have gotten smaller. We've also had issues with being overcharged on our check. Some of the waitress staff had been rude to us as well when we questioned charges on the check.
To our dismay, When we left on 4/17/2023 we discovered the policy was not posted on the door (see attached pic 1).
To be fair, the waitress was kind enough to comp the cost of our drinks. However, we will not be returning to Locals Mt Pleasant.
WE LOVE LOCALS WEST ASHLEY ON TUESDAYS!!! The staff is so nice. They really care about the quality of the food. It's always so pretty and appetizing! Always an amazing experience! Our new sushi date home!
