Locanda Barbarossa

Thank you so much for having me. I had an amazing evening. OMG. The Gin you guys make. So good. And then every course if the 7 course menu. So good. So nice that the chef came to the table to say hi. Really appreciate. And the service, as good as the cooking. Thanks for being so attentive, welcoming and taking care of me.

I've been to many Michelin-starred restaurants and for me, Locanda Barbarossa stands out among them and is probably closer to a two- than a one-star-place (in the best of ways). I loved the connection to locally sourced ingredients in the "Sapori Del Orto" menu. Each course was a culinary delight - highlight chased highlight. I would like to particularly mention the beautiful interpretation of all things tomato: just an explosion of tomato flavour like I have not tasted before. I will also never forget the candied green walnuts on the risotto with figs and goats cheese (another plate of pure comfort) and the confit lake trout with beurre blanc foam, or the veal tartare hidden in a flower of radish. The perfect end to the meal was a wonderfully sweet play on the blackberry, with a caramelized milk panna cotta that was to die for. I also added the foie and the braised beef ravioli to the tasting menu, and both dishes were absolute stand outs as well (the sauce and foam on the ravioli!). Service was very competent and efficient, proficient in all languages and always incredibly helpful with suggestions (and refills of the scrumptious maggia bread!). To boot, the restaurant is beautifully set in the outskirts of Ascona, and I was lucky enough to be able to eat in the garden - perfect atmosphere! I really cannot recommend the place enough and hope to be able to return soon!

Posto molto curato nel contesto del castello del sole. Immerso nel verde alla foce della Maggia. Il servizio è formale il giusto per un ristorante di questo livello con qualche intoppo nella presentazione dei piatti. Abbiamo seguito il consigliato menu: saporti del nostro orto con scelta di 5 portate per la cifra di 190CHF a persona , abbiamo Abbinato un ottimo rosso piemontese da una carta dei vini che offre scelta fin eccessiva. I gusti dell orto sono decisi, si apprezzano molto le note aromatiche piu al palato che all'olfatto. Meritano una nota eccellente l'uovo di faraona onsen e il raviolo, gli altri piatti soni gradevoli ma non eccellenti. Il conto è in linea con il menu ovviamente ed alla scelta del vino. Non certo economico nel complesso. Manca una stella: nel rapporto qualita prezzo manca qualcosa per essere eccellente il servizio.

This is an extraordinarily beautiful and, above all, excellently good restaurant. We ordered an eight-course menu for six people and were surprised in every way. The service team as well as the kitchen did an excellent job and we can only recommend this restaurant in every respect. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful at all times, even though we were the first guests to arrive and the last to leave. The food and aromas remained in the memory for a long time. The courtyard lounge was also an absolute delight with excellent service and food. I congratulate the team on this extraordinary good performance. *********************************************************** Dies ist ein außerordentlich schönes und vor allem ausgezeichnet gutes Restaurant. Wir haben zu sechs Personen ein Achtgang Menü bestellt und wurden in jeglicher Hinsicht mehrfach überrascht. Das Team des Services wie auch die Küche haben exzellent gearbeitet und wir können dieses Restaurant in jeglicher Hinsicht nur empfehlen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und jederzeit außerordentlich hilfsbereit, obwohl wir als erste Gäste kamen und das letzte gingen. Die Speisen und Aromen blieben noch lange im Geschmack in Erinnerung. Auch die Lounge im Innenhof war ein absoluter Genuss mit exzellenten Service und Speisen. ich gratuliere dem Team zu dieser außerordentlichen guten Leistung. Besuchsdatum: Juli 2022

Luogo raffinato, con una incantevole natura tutt ' intorno ...perfetta l accoglienza eseguita dal maitre davvero professionale e di spigliata simpatia. Tutto il servizio è stato ,oserei dire ,,ottimo e di gran stile.....la cucina deliziosamente fresca e originale , dai sapori delicati mi ha conquistata! Bravo Chef.!!! Alla prossima serata.👍💖💖💖
