Yelp
Family Christmas dinner time! This place was chosen by my older sister who lives nearby and knows I like good food and even BETTER drinks!
Firts and foremost, the parking situation sucks in this area of the town. There is no designated parking so it's street parking for sure. We were here on a busy night and my experience should reflect that is not the establishments fault at all but I mention it as a warning.
Entering the business front doors is the service desk immediately to the right, hostess was more than eager to assist and accomodate us. After a mis-hap where we said six and quickly realized we had a 7th the hostess assured us that it's fine which was great!
Of course by this point, I found a seasonal drink menu and was not a part of that conversation. I was planning my next 6 moves already! We were seated fairly quickly once the headcount tally was done. Offered water before being able to take off my coat.
Our server was a regular with which my sister says is the reason she continues to come here and I see why! This guy was a wholesome dude, very charming and funny af too! I asked my normal question which was;
"How many drinks can I order at once"
He laughed.... then dead faced.... I was serious bro! I order 2 drinks off the seasonal menu.
First was the Tiramigiu! A very coffee oriented drink decorated with a Lady Finger. Incase you didn't make the connection to the dessert dish called Tiramisu then this is the liquid version of that dessert. I must say as someone who isn't a fan of Tiramisu the Tiramigiu drink is something I can have more of!
Second drink was the Biscotti! This is by far my favorite drink of the night, the visual presentation and drink itself was just a delightfully sweet but also strong kick in the teeth! Decorated with sprinkled cake frosting on the rim. I shard the frosting with my 6 year old niece... don't worry, no alcohol reached her lips.
The next few drinks were all based on the type of alcohol it was mixed with, I knew my flavors and lean towards safe but also like to experiment with new experiences.
The 24K which was a Mezcal mixed drink was a solid drink, I think I hesistated at first because it was decorated with what I would eventually find out was a dissolvable and edible gold aluminum topping. I love most tequila's so once the hesitation disappeared..... so did the drink haha!
The Anguria! My second favorite drink of the night! Probably because it was the fruitiest! Garnished with a mint clove and a slice of watermelon this drink was a great in between to flush flavors out! I only wish I had more! It's a refresher, thats what I call drinks like this! easy in and easy out, gone before you know it!
The Amalfi! Takes 3rd place for my top 3 of the evening.... Again... a fruity drink, garnished with a blackberry and dried grapfruit slice. The drink wasn't as sweet as the Anguria, carried a bit harder of a kick but also what I would call a refrsher drink.
Lastly, if you've read my reviews before then you've heard or seen me say this before. Martini's are my MORTAL ENEMY!
NUTELLA MARTINI! LOL! So, this drink is why we were here outside of the wonderful company and service.... and of course food. My older sister and my mother loved Nutella, hell my entire family loves Nutella.... we are Italian afterall so of course I cannot pass on the chance to try a drink so inspired by my families dirty addiction! I LOVE that is was Nutella for the 2 seconds before the Martini kicked in! Hahaha! it's a solid drink for sure but me, myself I can never, EVER reccomend a Martini... Mortal.... ENEMIES!
Foreal though, all jokes aside, the drink was not a dissapointment and I highly reccomend it. It's on the smoother side of Martini's in my opinion but still as strong as they are but flavorful as hell!
Lastly, I did have food! I ordered the Ragu Nepoletano. Needless to say I'm not big on pasta, I am Italian and I don't like pasta! It's in my profile, hate me and call me a criminal to be Italian. I was raised by my Noni so my tastes are very picky. There's one Italian restaurant I can say has capture her memory in the form of food.
Now I can say there is two! Locandi Capri is the closest I have come to tasting my late Noni's home made red meat gravy! That Ragu Nepoletano has solidfied my eventual return to this establishment! No worries, I was returning anyways because I have to finish the drink menu up, but now I am curious to try other food dishes.
Hats off to you guys! Thank you for a wonderful experience from my family to yours!
