"Set overlooking the 15C harbour at Porlock Weir, this relaxed, slightly quirky restaurant with rooms has just five tables. You'll be warmly greeted by manager Cindy, as well as chef Pio, who hails from Naples and brings influences from his upbringing to the daily 5 course tasting menu. Modern Italian dishes champion the produce of Exmoor, with some ingredients either foraged or grown in the garden. Pio’s cooking is creative and full of flavour, but at times takes an unfussy approach to allow the natural ingredients to shine." - Michelin Inspector

Locanda on the Weir

This place was the absolute highlight of our 16 day trip. Porlock Weir is small and calm and it became our daily ritual to watch the tide change. Locanda on the Weir is a lovely place with so many lovely pictures and items. I think I counted more than 50+ pictures alone in the room we had breakfast. Every day I noticed something new. Lucy and Pio made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed listening to vinyl records in the lounge while enjoying a cocktail. They only have 4 rooms so the atmosphere is kept intimate even when the place is fully booked. The room was lovely and spacious with a very comfy bed. The food is Michelin level and breakfast was almost the highlight of the day, except for the day we had diner, that took the grand price. They only offer dinner 4 nights a week so you have to settle for the pub or the oyster bar across the road some nights. Everything was exquisite and I would definitely go again.

This was one of my best stays in recent years. The rooms and atmosphere were incredibly welcoming and comfortable. The hosts were lovely and went above and beyond to make our anniversary trip special. Beyond the intriguing conversations, I must mention the excellent food. The chef, who clearly loves his work, prepared a five-course menu that was adjusted for my vegan partner. It gave me a glimpse into the creative and passionate mind of a chef. Thank you for this fantastic experience.

This is an exceptionally lovely place. The location - literally at the end of the coast road - is charming; a wonderful place to explore Exmoor and the South West Coastal Path from. The house is comfortable, beautifully furnished, with an eclectic art collection. The hospitality is attentive and charming: “if we’re not here, just help yourself and leave a note”. But towering over it all is the cuisine. The chef - a bond trader made good - is obsessive in his pursuit of perfection. He succeeds beyond all expectations, except his own. Very highly recommended.

We had a most relaxing weekend in Locanda on the weir last week. Cindy and Pio were wonderful hosts and made us very much at home in their wonderful house by the sea. Breakfast was great, celiac friendly, and made with all local fresh ingredients. Our room was big and bright with plenty of space. Dinner was excellent and the variety of courses a wonderful surprise each one. We entertained ourselves with long hikes along the coast and swam off the pier wall at high tide. Water temperatures of 16 degree Celsius made it all the more alluring. We highly recommend Loconda on the Weir to anyone and will return again.

Just returned from a two day break at Locanda on the Weir. Wow, a beautiful Hotel with exceptional service and outstanding cuisine, a stone's throw from the sea. Attention to detail is second to none, and it would be easy to think you were dining in a Michelin starred restaurant. Thank you Cindy, and Pio.

We stayed one night at Locanda on the Weir as a stop-off while walking the Southwest Coastal Path. It was everything you could want in a guesthouse.||Friendly welcome|Supremely comfortable beds|Truly excellent food|Interesting eclectic art everywhere|Nice sea views.|Well appointed rooms with TV and Wifi.||I'll definitely be looking to stay here again in future and highly recommend it.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, I was with a friend visiting the stunning National Trust Holnicote Estate (yes, beavers and all!) and this is where the team kindly took us for supper the evening we arrived… our expectation was local pub, the reality, probably the best food I’ve ever had in such a remote location in the UK. The vibe is eclectic with plenty of charm, the staff/owners are characters. And they take their food very seriously, you are expected to arrive on time and then service begins (set menu for all) and forget trying to announce you’re vegetarian upon arrival, if they didn't know before hand then no chance of a change… this made me curious and slightly wary until the first dish came out and i could see what love and care was evidently poured into the food, each mouthful was a sensation. As if i needed a reminder as to their care for their craft I, seriously annoyingly, had to take an international call in the middle of supper, I had hoped it would be quick but a full half hour later I returned to the table where upon they were presenting the puddings - could i possibly have my main course first please… the man’s face was a picture… no way, it was ruined, desecrated and couldn't possibly be served in it’s now degenerated state. I honoured his depth of feeling, climbed back into my box and awaited my pudding… i was bereft and my companions left out no delicious detail of the sublime main course i was never to experience. I don’t recommend you follow suit, clear your diary, arrive not on time but early, really early - walk along the water front (the situation is heavenly), enjoy a drink or two at the bar and then settle in for a little piece of true Somerset magic with Italian flair

This was flat out the best meal I’ve had in Great Britain. A tasting menu of five courses. Not too many, not too little. |The starter was a nibble of pastry in a shell shape filled with seafood goodies and a bouillon composed of multiply percolated herbs that was exquisite. |This was followed by a broth with a side of focaccia and a delicious coppa. Then trifle with asparagus. |Then fillet with an undefinable sauce, finalized with the most incredible raspberry and chocolate dessert. |I’ve eaten out at fine dining places all around the world and this was in my top five easily. Just outstanding
