"Locanda is an Italian newcomer inside the Residence Inn by Marriott in Streeterville that "deserves a bigger audience." Phil Vettel writes the plates "not only are unfailingly pretty, but also often feature extra touches that speak to value and commitment." The "super-rich, delicious" burrata is balanced by a pool of tomato gazpacho while "excellent" pastas include ravioli stuffed with a liquidy truffle filling and an "especially good" frutti di mare pasta. Among the entrees, there’s "well-made" osso bucco along with a "delicious" branzino over wine and fish-stock sauce. The "star dessert" is the peach-almond tart featuring a custardy filling and goat-cheese gelato." - Jeffy Mai

Honestly one of the best Italian restaurant I've been too! Prices are great, food is fantastic. It wasn't busy on a Saturday night and our waiter was attentive. Will go back again.

The food was very good, though the pasta serving was so small as to barely cover the plate. You may expect smaller servings of high value foods such as salmon or steak, but not pasta surely? Like the main course, the sweet we had, tiramisu, was the real thing - not mass produced elsewhere. I did /not/, however, appreciate having a 20% service charge added without my agreement! The service was pleasant and prompt, but nothing more. Done according to the script, but not because they meant it.

Had the goat cheese squash, Chestnut ravioli, and penne arrabbiata and all were delicious. No wait, amazing service, and excellent wine recommendation....a must try!

The duck was excellent but expensive for such a small portion and did not include sides. The magic cake was disappointing and not served as advertised (no raspberry sauce, and whatever the other stuff was wasn’t good). Service was decent.

The location is convenient to my house. The dining room is comfortable and our waiter was very good. The mushrooms and asparagus are really good. Meatballs were disappointing. Gnocchi sauce was too thin. Service was very responsive and overall a nice experience. Definitely going to try again. I would suggest adding pizza to the menu.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We were given what I can only describe as leftovers. When we asked why we were charged $50 for leftover cookies and marshmallows and if we could have a refund, the chef refused and gave us more terrible “dessert” that was just awful. The attitude and value were terrible! I do not recommend!

I stayed at the connecting hotel during most of summer 2019 while I had a stem cell transplant at Northwestern and became a regular. The happy hour is great, the food is phenomenal, and the staff is amazing!!! I’ve since moved to Chicago permanently and cannot wait to go back and see everyone and have another out-of-this-world dining experience!

We got a pizza last week and the desk clerk said we should have gone elsewhere. We got the pizza and it was small and didn't look very good but it turned out not being too bad. $18 for what looked like a personal pan. Tonight, we ordered spaghetti with pasta sauce and linguine with white lemon sauce. So dry we had to add something to liven it up. And that didn't help. I could have done better myself and I can't cook. Bread was, we don't even know what the bread was and it was awful. $32 wasted. Definately won't go back and wouldn't recommend it to my dog.
